Their expertise, they reliability and you know who is going to do the work – it’s a family business, they’re accountability and their knowledge. I've been using them for a long time.

It was terrific! I called on Thursday or Friday the 14th or 15th of March. The woman who answered the phone was polite and pleasant. She was pleased that I'd called from Angie's List, b/c Melrose Oriental Rug really values its Angie's List clients, she said. (Of course, they value ALL clients, I'm sure!) When I explained about the water damage to my Oriental Rug, the lady on the phone said that she'd have David, the owner, call me back. David called back that same day, and we agreed that he would pick up the rugs on Saturday the 16th. Picking up the rugs required David and his helper to move heavy furniture (bed, armoires, couch, etc.) off the rugs. It should be noted that the rugs were quite dirty, with lots of ground-in cat hair. The 9' x 12' Karastan in my bedroom had been water damaged from a leaking radiator and had mold or mildew on the edge and on the tassels/fringe. David warned me that getting out the mold and/or mildew might change the color of the fringe from beige to white, which I OK'd. Turns out, he was able to get the rug SPOTLESS with no change in the color at all! In fact, you can't tell which corner was damaged! I was so pleased. The rug just GLOWS, it's so clean. Although I had originally called to have the one rug cleaned, I decided to have all my rugs done at once. The dining room Oriental rug (8' x 11.5') had fringe that someone had chopped off really irregularly. It looked odd. (I bought it second-hand.) David and his team were able to cut all the messy fringe correctly down to the edges of the rug, so that you can never tell there was a problem. Then, he put backing on the rug, to keep the fringe from fraying. Again, I couldn't believe the difference! My rug looks just beautiful! And he didn't even charge extra for all that extra work! I was SO impressed! The third rug was hand-tufted, which I understand makes it tricky to clean. It also came back beautiful, and looks great in my bedroom (at David's suggestion, he re-arranged my rugs). It had a few minor areas of wear from my cats, and somehow, David and his team were able to make those areas inconspicuous. The hallway runner is a hooked rug that had been damaged by my cats. David and his team were able to snip all the little damaged threads. It looks like new! The last rug is a modern, synthetic rug, size 5.5' x 8'. It also looks great. Positioning it required moving a very heavy armoire in my second bedroom. David and his helpers did an amazing job of quickly and efficiently moving furniture off and on the rugs. They also positioned them perfectly, and put pads down under the dining and living room rugs. I just couldn't be happier! Not only did they do a really professional job of pick up, delivery, and a really thorough cleaning of my rugs, they did so much extra -- at no extra charge! David and his team obviously take an ENORMOUS amount of pride in doing their jobs really well. Melrose Oriental Rug company has to be one of the best companies I've ever worked with. Thank you!

We took a quite old kilim to Melrose for cleaning and were impressed with their openness about what they could do to clean the rug. They provided an estimate of how long this would take (2-3 weeks) and they delivered it on time. When we saw the cleaned rug we were amazed by how much more vivid the colors and patterns were and learned that it had taken considerable time to gently coax the dirt and stains from the carpet. The rug will still need some reconstruction to correct damage from previous heavy use, but there is no question that we will take it to Melrose for that work. They are conscientious, thorough, and friendly in the way they interact with customers and genuinely committed to restoring oriental rugs to their true beauty!

I recently acquired several old, worn and somewhat soiled rugs in an estate settlement. The rugs held sentimental value for me so I wanted to keep them in my house but not before they had a good cleaning! I found David's company on Angie's List and decided the reviews were good enough to warrant the trip from Metrowest to Melrose. Am I ever glad I did! They don't just clean rugs. They are extremely knowledgeable and take a real interest in each customer and their possessions. They advised me on the best way to care for the rugs to avoid further wear and tear and cut rug pads to fit them. One rug was worn and somewhat faded. They cleaned it and it now looks like it wasn't stuck in an attic for years (which it was). A second larger rug was almost thrown out by the estate because of the wear and extreme soiling it had endured. (The owner had cats.) I took it on a whim because I couldn't bear to see an Oriental tossed in the trash. I had little hope of it looking like much until I took it to David's shop. Wow! When I went to pick it up not only did it gleam with jewel tones but David had taken it upon himself to do some research on it's origins. It turned out to be quite old and unusual. I'm so glad I "rescued" it and took it to Melrose Oriental Rugs for cleaning. It is unrecognizable from the rug I dropped off with them! They also cleaned and repaired 2 small antique "bag" rugs and attached sleeves for rods so I could hang them up as wall displays. The repairs blend into the original rugs so well it's very hard to tell any modern work was done. David kept me informed during the whole process and OK'd costs with me before proceeding. I also had them clean a newer 4x6 rug that had received some water damage. It came back looking as though nothing bad had ever happened. To wrap up, I would highly recommend Melrose Oriental Rug! It is worth the trip from the Westwood-Dover area to have David and his team handle your rugs. They are craftsmen, something that's very hard to find these days. They are wonderful people to work with and as I stated earlier, very knowledgeable and a great source of information on these rugs. I will be using them again in the future!

I was very pleased with the rug cleaning services at Melrose Oriental Rug Co, Inc. The day I called they came out and picked up my rug. And David, the owner, actually had my rug back to me, cleaned (and looking fantastic), one week before the original two week time. The service is above average. They go above and beyond - which is unusual these days. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who is looking to have their rugs cleaned. They will also be the first place I check into when looking to buy another rug!

The carpets are various sizes from room size to a small hand hooked carpet made by my mother. They all look fantastic. The colors are much brighter after being cleaned and there are no more ragged edges or moth eaten fringes. I am very happy with how the carpets look now. They were delivered and laid down with an eye for where the most wear would be and the best fit for the available spaces. I would use Melrose Oriental Rug again in a heart beat. If I ever decide to get a carpet for the dining room I will stop in Melrose first.

I highly recommend Melrose Oriental Rug Company. David and his crew were friendly efficient and professional. He and one of his men came all the way from Melrose to my home in Boston during Hurricane Sandy to remove my stair runner so that the hardwood floor refinishers could begin on schedule. The quality of their work is superb! My rugs needed both extensive repairs and thorough cleaning. They look like new! The repairs were next to miraculous! I had a tear on one of the rugs that was so expertly repaired that It looked like it had never been torn. I am so happy with their work! This is that rare case where I originally failed this merchant on counts, but have now come back to give them all A's. Here's what happened: A couple of months ago, my wife brought in a couple of hooked rugs to be cleaned. When we took them home and unrolled them, we saw a number of bald spots, where the pile was simply gone. That shouldn't happen, of course -- and when I called up and didn't get a prompt response, I flamed the cleaners here. But shortly afterwards, the owner did call -- and promised to make it right with us. He came out to our house to look at the rugs, apologized profusely, and offered to do what it took to correct the matter... which in this case involved filling in the missing pile with wool dyed to match. That work was done beautifully, and he even attacked a few stains that we had given up on. Oh, and he gave us a free carpet pad. So I am glad to acknowledge here that Melrose Oriental Rug did a thing that's pretty rare these days: they took full accountability for a problem, and went the extra mile or two to solve it, at considerable cost to themselves. It's clear to me that they see their business standing as a legacy to be carefully protected. For a customer, that's a comfort you won't find just anywhere.

They picked up our carpets from our old home and delivered them nicely cleaned and mended to our new home right on schedule. They were very helpful in choosing and installing the stairway carpet and it is working out very well, as are all our orientals. We appreciate their good looks and stability on a regular basis, over a year later. Our kitchen floor carpet had to be pieced together to go around a right angle bend. They did a great job; it stays in place nicely and is surviving all the spilled food very well.

The only downsize is they are a good 30 minutes from my house. I had since tried a more local rug cleaner for another stinky oriental rug that I had. They charged me about the same as Melrose did, and the rug still smells as bad as it did when I brought it to them. Moral of the story...some things are worth the extra work...and Melrose is one of those things. I will definitely bring all of my rugs to them for cleaning and repair. Thank you, Melrose!

David and his team were prompt, professional and pleasant, and VERY knowledgeable. Both times (pick up and return) they arrived exactly when they said they would. David carefully noted how the rug was positioned before he removed it and just as carefully replaced it and all the furniture. Door-to-door, the cleaning and repair took 3 weeks, which I think is very reasonable given the work done on the rug. David also gave me advice about the rug and helped me decide what services made sense given the age, condition, and value of the rug. He was responsive to my questions and returned calls promptly. The day before the rug was to return he called to confirm their arrival and they showed up when he said they would. The rug positively sparkles now. I am extremely satisfied with Melrose Oriental Rug and I plan to use them again, and I will recommend them to my friends in Sudbury.

This is a terrific company. Not only did they do a excellent job cleaning my rug, on-time, for a more than reasonable price, they treated me with respect. Everyone there was friendly, helpful and professional. When I arrived, they immediately went out to carry in my rug. When I left, they took my rug to the car and then gave me helpful directions for driving back to Lexington. They give an excellent discount to Angies List customers, too. i saved 30% on my total bill. I am recommending Melrose Rug to all my friends and relatives as well as everyone on Angie's List. Use them, you won't be disappointed!

Excellent service. got several bad spots out. Very professional. When David picked up and delivered the rug, he and his helper moved all of our furniture off it, then replaced it. My husband and I are very pleased with this service and will refer them to our friends.

Dave, the manager, has come to our house three times. Each time he has looked at several of our rugs, listed suggested repairs and pads and cleaning costs. He estimated when he would be bringing back the rugs he took with him. The rugs have been repaired, cleaned and pads made as necessary and they have been returned on schedule with invoices consistent with estimates. Dave knows what he is talking about, and, in the rare moment when he can't identify the origin of a rug, he admits it! He has lots of knowledge and credibility. On his first visit, we asked Dave if he find a Chinese rug for our dining room. The next time he visited he brought with him the perfect rug for a reasonable price. Dave is accompanied by one or two helpers, as necessary. They are all friendly and respectful. The entire operation is professional. This morning we gave Dave all of our remaining rugs to be cleaned and repaired. It's a wonderful feeling to have an oriental rug guy that you can trust! I don't trust easily but Dave has earned our trust. I seldom give such glowing reviews here, but I can't imagine a better operation than Melrose Oriental Rugs for oriental rug repairs andcleaning and even sales. 5 stars.
