SNAKE-IT-AWAY INC

We had big back-ups and the pipes were all in a mess because we lived in a little piece of land that had about five to six maple trees. The roots had dug into the pipes. We had to call Snake-It-Away a couple of times to dig up our yard and install some pipes. We had to have them come out twice because of miscommunication. They dug up to the sidewalk one time and then dug up from the sidewalk to the mainline the other time. They had come out before to clear out our pipes and snake them. It was quite troublesome for us through the years, and we finally had that huge job done. They had snaked it and taken pictures underneath to see where the clogging was. My only complaint was that we weren?t very clear on what the job was and that we hadn?t done it like we probably should have the first time. Finally the job was done, but it took us a couple of times to accomplish that.

He was earning a lot of money from me twice a year until most recently he did some water jetting inside the pipe and charged me over $1050 to do the work. He has taken the money but has not given me any report on the work done. I taught the worker how to get the videos out, but he has not given me the videos. He is always looking to make more money, and is more interested in earning more than in providing good service. He should have solved the problem years ago, rather than continually charging me for the same work. He should have jetted the pipe instead, instead of snaking, which only cleared a small portion of the pipes. I will not be using him in the future.

I called several places to get an estimate on how much it would cost to unclog a drain in my tub which was completely blocked. Most wanted to charge me an after-hours fee since I work late and apparently their typical hours are during the day, but Snake-It-Away offered to charge me the regular price. The person was about 30 minutes late but when he got here he got the job done in a minimum amount of time. He completely opened up the drain and I let it run on the highest amount of water for 5 minutes just to make sure and there was no accumulation. Would definitely go with Snake-It-Away again. The person also gave me advice on what I should and shouldn't do in the future to try and unclog a drain.

Called them at 1am for a plugged toilet. I woke up the owner, I think. I am sorry about this, if you are reading! Given that they list a 1-800 number in their contact info, I assumed it would not go to someone sleeping. Person on the phone said that they would come out around 8 or 9am, and would call me before coming out. 9:15am rolled around, and I still hadn't heard from them. At that point, I made other arrangements for the work to be done, and called them to let them know that their services would no longer be needed. The gentleman I spoke with said that he had another call ahead of me at that time, and it sounded like he would be there within an hour. I understand that plumbing can be unpredictable, especially when responding to urgent calls from people. It still would have been nice to receive a phone call saying that they were running late.

Late one evening I came downstairs to find the house drain was overflowing into the basement whenever water was run upstairs. I called Snake-It-Away and left a number with his answering service. Within 10 minutes I got a call back and explained my problem. He quoted a price of $300, which I though sounded a bit expensive, but after calling around seemed in line with other providers. When I called him back he said he could come over now, and was there in about 30 min (less than the time he estimated it would take him). He helped me move objects in the basement to get to the main house drain trap, cleaned out the trap and identified objects as they came out, giving advice on how to prevent this from happening again later (turns out construction debris from an earlier job had failed to flush properly). At my request he used his drain snake to run the drain out towards the street. When he was done he packed away his tools and helped me replace the heavy objects on clean out access. $300 seems like a lot of money for a simple drain clean out, but in hindsight, at 10pm when you've got poop running into your basement it seems a fair price for someone to show up and fix the drain.

We had just moved into a new house that was a foreclosed property and our initial inspection didn't show any major problems, but after a few days of living in the house, the toilet started flushing very slowly. We thought the worst and called the neighborhood plumber. They fit us in that day even though it was a Friday before a long weekend. They came out and found the problem to be minor and cleaned the water outlets that flow into the toilet bowl. The toilet is still working great and it has been over a month. My husband and I are new in town, we have never lived in a house as old as the one we are in now and this plumber could have taken advantage of these facts. However, Snake-It-Away was honest, prompt, and even gave us free advice on other matters. We will definitely use them again.

The basement never got dry until I had a different company out to fix the work. It turns out they put the sump pumps in the wrong place.

Snake-It-Away Sewer and Drain Cleaning was quite impressive. They used a camera so we could see what they encountered and how well they were getting the job done. They had the best bid of the companies we checked with. This company definitely gets all top grades in all categories.

They were very prompt and professional. I had called them and within a couple of hours they sent someone out. The pipes were still backing up after they were gone and I called the next day and again they were right out. They snaked the pipes again and I have not had any problems since.

Pleasure to work with; they worked hard in a challenging situation.

THIS EXPERIENCE WAS QUITE FRUSTRATING. I ASKED THE COMPANY TO GIVE ME A QUOTE FOR REPAIRING A DISCONTINUITY IN MY MAIN DRAIN IN THE FRONT YARD. ONE PERSON CAME, AND EXAMINED THE SITUATION, AND SAID HE WOULD GIVE ME A QUOTE WITHIN A FEW DAYS. I DIDN'T GET THAT, AND INSTEAD GOT SOMEONE ELSE CALLING WHO WAS UNAWARE THAT THE FIRST PERSON HAD BEEN HERE. THE SECOND PERSON WANTED TO COME AGAIN, AND WE ORGANIZED A TIME, BUT HE SHOWED UP ON A DIFFERENT DAY SO I WASN'T HOME (HE LEFT A CARD AT MY FRONT DOOR). I SUBSEQUENTLY GOT ADVICE THAT THE PROBLEM ISN'T REALLY BAD ENOUGH TO MERIT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR AT THIS POINT, BUT SNAKE IT AWAY SEEMED DISORGANIZED, AND DID NOT COME THROUGH WITH PROMISED INFORMATION, WHICH WAS FRUSTRATING.

APPALLING. MY APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR BETWEEN 8:00 AM AND 8:30 AM ON A SATURDAY. WHEN HE DIDN'T SHOW BY 9:15 AM, I CALLED TO MAKE SURE I HAD THE CORRECT TIME, AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS "NEXT ON THE LIST", AND HE WOULD ARRIVE IN HALF AN HOUR. AT 11:15 AM, I GAVE UP, AND WENT TO DO SOME LOCAL ERRANDS. I LEFT A NOTE THAT HE COULD LEAVE A TELEPHONE MESSAGE IF HE WANTED TO RESCHEDULE FOR LATER THAT DAY, BUT NO MESSAGE WAS LEFT. I DON'T KNOW IF HE SHOWED UP WHILE I WAS AWAY BETWEEN 11:15 AM AND 12:30 PM. OBVIOUSLY I'LL NEVER CONTACT THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

THE APPOINTMENT WAS FOR SATURDAY MORNING 9AM. THEY WERE 2 HOURS LATE. THE WORK WAS PERFORMED WELL AND QUICKLY. THEY WERE COURTEOUS. OVERALL I'M SATISFIED.

THEY WERE VERY PERSONABLE, AND GOT THE JOB DONE, AND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE DRAIN SINCE.

I WAS NOT IMPRESSED BY THEIR EQUIPMENT. IT WAS A LONG, CORKSCREW CABLE THEY CALLED AN 'EEL' THAT ATTACHED TO A 1/2'' ELECTRIC DRILL. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE EFFECTIVE FOR ROOTS, WHICH WAS THE SUSPECT CAUSE. THEY ATTEMPTED 3 PASSES, AND DECLARED THE PIPE 'DEFECTIVE' ABOUT 22 FEET OUT. ONE OF THE MEN WAS VERY HONEST AND TOLD ME TO SAVE $750 BY SKIPPING THE WATER MACHINE AND VIDEO, AND GO DIRECTLY TO EXCAVATION. I TOLD HIM WE ARE NOT DIGGING UNTIL THEY SHOW ME MUD ON THE TIP. WE THEN BOTH LOOKED AT THE TIP AND THERE WAS SAND IN THE CREVICES. LATER, A DIFFERENT EXCAVATOR FOUND THE PIPE WAS BROKEN AT 15' AND FILLED WITH SAND FURTHER OUT.

THE PLUMBER WENT OUT OF THE WAY TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY SERVICE. THE SERVICE WAS GREAT. HE WAS VERY POLITE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. GREAT PRICE. HAPPY CUSTOMER.

MR. WILLIAMS QUICKLY RESPONDED TO THE EMERGENCY NEED. WE WILL ESTABLISH A PLAN TO COME AND CLEAR THE DRAINS ON A MORE TIMELY BASIS TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.

THEY PROMPTLY SCHEDULED A TIME AND SHOWED UP ON TIME. THEY CLEARED THE DRAIN QUICKLY, BUT THEN HAD SOME PROBLEMS PUTTING THE TRAP BACK. NONETHELESS, THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL AND PROMPT ABOUT THE MINOR SNAGS. WHEN THEY LEFT, THE DRAIN WORKED BETTER THAN EVER AND THE TRAP WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION.

THE PLUMBER ARRIVED ON TIME AND PERFORMED THE WORK PERFECTLY WELL. I WAS PLEASED WITH THE JOB DONE. HOWEVER, THE PLUMBER BEHAVED INAPPROPRIATELY, IN MY OPINION. AFTER HE LEFT, I DISCOVERED THAT HE HAD USED MY MASTER BATHROOM (HE WAS IN THERE TO SNAKE THE SINK) AND SOILED THE TOILET SEAT. I WAS DISGUSTED. I WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE THAN HAPPY TO HAVE LET HIM USE ONE OF THE OTHER BATHROOMS IN THE HOUSE. THIS WAS MY PRIVATE BATHROOM IN MY MASTER BEDROOM. I THINK IT WAS A TOTAL VIOLATION OF PRIVACY AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR TO DO THIS AND SO I WOULD NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN BUT WOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR DRAIN CLEANING SERVICES.

THEY WERE PROMPT, EFFICIENT, AND FRIENDLY. THE OWNER KEPT IN TOUCH WITH ME THROUGHOUT. THEY DO HAVE SEPARATE PRICES FOR THE SNAKING (195) AND THE CLEAN UP (175). I'D USE THEM AGAIN.

CALLED ON MORNING OF SCHEDULED APPT TO SAY THAT THEY NEEDED TO RESCHED FOR 2 DAYS LATER. WHEN APPT WINDOW PASSED ON RESCHED APPT, I CALLED TO FIND OUT THAT THEY WERE RUNNING LATE. THEY WERE ABLE TO START THE WORK WHEN THEY ARRIVED BUT HAD TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY SINCE I HAD ANOTHER APPT AND HAD TO LEAVE THE HOUSE (AND THEY DID TOO). THEY MADE IT UP TO ME WITH A GREAT PRICE UPON COMPLETION.

PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH. EASY TO REACH, PROMPT RESPONSE IN URGENT SITUATION, MADE APPOINTMENT WHICH HE KEPT, UNUSUALLY FRIENDLY, NEAT WORK, REASONABLE PRICE.

IT TOOK THREE VISITS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND I HAD TO DO SOME DETECTIVE WORK ON MY OWN. BUT AT LEAST RICHIE DID NOT RAISE THE PRICE. NOW THAT HE KNOWS MY APARTMENT I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN BECAUSE THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE!
