John was one of the only people who responded to my calls for ice removal. He set aside some time to come and rescue our mudroom roof and gutters. He explained everything to me (new homeowner so I'm trying to understand the house!) and cleared things off as requested. He cleaned up afterwards. My only regret is that I didn't have him stay to finish the top roof that I thought was fine, back to the phones!

This morning I awoke to my bathroom ceiling leaking. I just hired some people to come clean the snow and ice dams off the roof. Don't know how good of a job they did or what, but I called John today on a Sunday to ask on what to do. He came right out and went up on a ladder by himself in this bitter cold to remove the snow and ice. He spent all this time out there and clearing up either what wasn't cleared or what new stuff came from last night. I've never had a bad experience with John and he's always provided such superb work and is very dedicated. I can't say enough about him and I'm glad he's such a kind and great man to be so helpful in this crazy cold and super snowy weather. Thanks, John!

On short notice, John came out to take care of a roof issue ... literally in the middle of a snow storm. He took my call to schedule the work on a Sunday night, and was out to my house the next day. He has done roofing work for me before (reshingling the entire back side of our house), and, as before, he provided great value, terrific service, and was very honest. I asked about more expensive options, and he advised otherwise. I would highly recommend John to friends, family and neighbors. He is terrific. (I saw another review that said John was a poor communicator and not puctual. All I can say is that my experience was totally different. He was very punctual and very helpful and communicative.) Highly recommended!

I had scheduled the appointment for today at 11:00am and they didn't show up. I called them and they thought my appointment was for 3pm. This is not a business that I want to move forward with.

Professional from start to finish. Handwritten, brief proposal. Was on time and on budget and cleaned up after themselves. And, paint is still in very good condition three years later.

Prompt response to request for quote. Thorough examination at time of estimate, with detailed estimate. Scheduled within a month. Excellent communications throughout the process. Worked with me on sampling colors, and shifting strategies as details of the project changed. Original estimate altered fairly based on changes in specs. Excellent team and crew. Very good quality work, attention to detail. (I felt comfortable with them in and around the house.) Thorough clean-up and review of outstanding issues. Looking forward to having them do my roof!

I have used Harco Exteriors for three projects on two different houses. They have all been excellent. On our first house he installed gutters on the entire house and put in a solar powered attic fan/vent. When we moved, we had some leaking on one part of the roof that he came and fixed. Later we also had him re-do the gutters and flashing on the house and garage. Harco Exteriors is hands down the best contracting company I have ever used. They work extremely fast, do excellent work, and their prices very, very competitive. They are also extremely easy and pleasant to work with. I cannot picture myself using any other company for any sort of roofing work.

Harco did an excellent job! The owner, John Harmon, is very down to earth and easy to work with. He had already done an exterior inspection before he rang my bell for our appointment. He is also very thorough and professional. He was the only one of the 5 contractors that I talked to that want up into the attic to see what kind of shape the underside of the roof deck was in. He is very knowledgeable and patiently answered my long list of questions. He gave me a written quote before he left. He promptly answered all of my follow-up questions before I made my final decision. I got 5 quotes and his was right in the middle. One quote was for almost double, and the lowest quote was from someone that didn?t seem up to par. I chose John because of his good reviews on Angie?s list, his good customer service, and the fact that he uses the highest quality materials including top-rated CertainTeed shingles, Grace Triflex underlayment and Carlisle Ice and Water shield. He and his crew showed up on time and over the next 2 days did all the work as planned. There were no problems, issues, drama or surprises. The final price was exactly as quoted ? including a 5% Angie?s List discount. They used large tarps to protect the house and the landscaping and for the most part it did its job. Just be aware that all your old shingles are going to come raining down from the roof and it?s possible that some of your ferns and lilies near the house may show a little wear and tear - I think that?s just the nature of the work. They did an excellent clean-up job with rakes, blowers and magnets. There was not one spec of debris left behind. The patio was actually cleaner than when they started. I highly recommend Harco!

John provided a competitive quote and did a thorough review of the work to be performed. His crew arrived on time and we both professional and courteous. They finished on time and cleaned up. Not a nail or piece of debris to be found anywhere!

It went very smoothly. The same guy who came out to quote the job was around to check things out as the work was underway. The workers were prompt and hard-working. They did one half the first day and finished on the second day. They hauled away the debris and did a very good job cleaning up the yard. There was a lot of crumbled shingles and debris and they went over our grass so carefully that any pieces I have found since have been smaller than a quarter. I was really impressed and grateful as we have two young kids playing in the yard who don't need to come across construction debris!

John and his crew removed the existing roof which was very old and 2 layers deep in some spots. They replaced the roof with top quality roofing shingles within 2 days. John was always available to discuss the work and was very responsive. His crew was professional and cordial. They performed the work and took special interest in cleaning up after they were done. The roof looks fantastic!

This company was very responsive, came when called and provided very good service. Stripped old roofing off and installed new shingles on roof. Also installed vinyl gutters over the whole house. Replaced some rotted wood areas as well. Very happy with this service and would recommend.

Job went very well. They did quality work, and clean up was thorough. A year and a half later, we have had no problems. After the new roof was installed, we decided to install solar panels on the back of the house. Everything is working fine.

I was very pleased with the whole process. I was given a detailed estimate of the job, and the contractor explained it all to me in terms that I could understand. He was prompt in responding,, and the team was punctual. He and his crew did a thorough job cleaning up at the end of the job, and I found just a few nails.

John Harmon, the company owner, came out to the house and gave an estimate on the spot, including all the details. The estimate was $4K less than another estimate we got from another company that is also rated well on Angie's List. Harco Exteriors had re-done our roof, and we were very satisfied with their service and professionalism. So we decided to go with them, but it took us a long time to make a decision about house colors. When we called John Harmon back in late September, we assumed we would have to wait until the next Spring to get our house painted, but he was able to fit us in. We have a 3-story house and a shed on the back. We chose one color for the main body of the house, a second color for the primary trim, and a third color for the porch floors and doors. They scraped the old paint, primed the house, and painted the whole house with 2 coats of paint, in only 3 1/2 days! We were amazed at how fast they were able to get the job done. They sprayed on the primer and the paint on the main body of the house and protected the unpainted areas while they did this. The trim, porches, and doors, were all done by brush. The job was very careful and well done and looks great. They even painted our mailbox with metal paint and used porch paint for the porch so that it would be more durable. They also patched a small hole at the roof line. The house looks beautiful, and we are always getting complements on it. The team cleaned up really well after the job, and we did not find any debris in the yard or garden.

They were great. In contrast with the other guys they weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive either. They took the time to tell me what they were going to do and did exactly what they needed to do. I would recommend them.

They were excellent. They were highly recommended by our neighbors and they had a good listing on Angie’s List. Everything that they did and showed us was fine. They cleaned up after themselves and since they were highly regarded by my neighbor, I knew they would be good.

Apparently Harco Exteriors only does complete roof replacement. They do not do anything in the way of ice dams or siding replacement, contrary to their description on Angie's List. Hopefully Harco Exteriors will change the description of their services accordingly.

What John impressed me includes two things: 1. He responded really fast and immediately came over and gave me a quote. Many others took days. 2. His price is very comparable. Best of all, he provided me several options that I can choose myself, instead of trying to talk me into a huge project.

Called back the next day (a Saturday!) to say they only do full roofs, not repairs.

Contacted him through angies list, reply was prompt. Showed up on time for initial appointment and gave estimate on spot after inspection. We had several other estimates and his was in mid range. He sounded more knowledgeable and had more good reviews so we decided to go with him. On the day of work, they were on time and finished the work in 2 days as promised. Would recommend him to family and friends.

We were recommended to Harco by a friend in Newton who had used them previously. John arrived to inspect the house a day or two after I called. He's very professional and knowledgable. He jumped up in the attic, examined the roof from the inside, gave an estimate on the spot. I didn't even get another estimate based on meeting him. The work was done on time and professionally. They cleaned up after themselves very well. Do I think I could have found someone to do the job a little cheaper? Maybe. Maybe not. But it wouldn't have been a huge difference in price. Plus, wouldn't you just prefer to deal with someone who is professional and really good at their job?

While John's estimate wasn't the most competitive from a price perspective, he was the most thorough in his inspection of the job. Others who came to estimate scoped the project without looking closely at the roof itself. John walked our roof (relatively low pitch) and felt below for any additional repairs that might be needed in addition to the actual roof material. We felt comfortable that his estimate took into consideration all costs, especially with his attention to detail. The actual job began a few weeks after than anticipated due to unforeseen weather delays. Once it began, the crew did the job in 2 - 2 1/2 days. The crew was also very respectful. John was great to work with. We will likely take on a few additional projects to the exterior of our house and will definitely include HARCO when we got o search for a vendor.
