Great. The work was done quickly and professionally; debris was cleaned up thoroughly. Roof and cheek wall/window looks so much nicer than before, and no more leaks! (And the gutters drain properly again!) Owner (John) stopped by both days to make sure work was going to plan. We received three bids for the job, all very similar, all from A-rated companies on Angie's List, but John's was the most generous (included the most footage of decking replacement at no extra cost, for instance). Of the three, he was the only one who volunteered of his own accord to inspect the roof from both the top (via ladder) and underneath (via attic), which I respected! He personally worked with his foreman on the second day to deal with some tricky gutter-hanging issues, and he was willing to spend a long time discussing options for siding replacement/painting, even though I told him this is not something we'd be able to do for some time (like, years). He also noticed that I had overpaid and sent a refund. It was a small amount on a large bill, and I think many businesses would have overlooked it, and I would not have noticed myself, so I really appreciate the honesty and professionalism. I would absolutely hire this company again for roofing/siding work.

Went according to plan. Was completed in one day. Large crew which worked hard and efficiently. They did a good job cleaning up. Dumpster was removed by next morning.

John Harman the owner personally comes by to inspect and provide estimates. He was very honest about the the state of the work and whether it needed to be done now or could wait. His prices were the most competitive and the end result draws positive reviews from neighbors and contractors! The most recent work was on a 2200 sq ft 2 family(~1100 sq ft footprint). John showed up to give me an estimate within a day or 2 of me reaching out and then completed the work in a single day as promised and on schedule. The worksite was left very clean which is important for roofing work where nails can be the gift that keeps on giving.

Needed a new roof for a large 2 family unit. I have tenants on the 2nd floor and the roof was leaking into the apartment. I contacted Harco and the next day they came out and tarped the roof to stop any furthur leaking during rain events. That was a huge piece of mind. In less than a week they were out there and completed the roof. Did a good job cleaning up as well.

HarCo removed and disposed of the old roof and installed a new one in the estimated time frame and to budget. They worked efficiently, were thoughtful of neighbors in typical "tight" Cambridge quarters, and did a high quality job. While they were not the lowest bid we got, we are VERY glad we went with John Harmon and crew. They did excellent work and were a pleasure to deal with.

They were fine, they did a good job. They were a little high. They were local, and we were comfortable. They could've been a little cheaper.

HarCo exteriors replaced the asphalt-shingle roof on our large garage. They also replaced a few damaged roof boards and some damaged trim pieces. The structure is an old carriage house on a historic property with a high roof. John Harman was quick and responsive in providing an estimate and scheduling the job. His crew finished the entire job in one day and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. When I pointed out some small damage to my driveway caused by their dumpster, they promptly came back and repaired the driveway. John was easy to contact be phone and email.

John Harman always let me know when the crew would be working. If I had a question, he responded within a reasonable time. He was able to work around a busy schedule (needed dead tree taken down first), and work to be completed before solar panels needed to be installed. He had good suggestions for replacing a window destroyed by carpenter ants, and a replacement front door. His team also worked around a carpenter's schedule who was doing other work on the property. His team was very well prepared, worked tirelessly (noted often by my neighbors), and simply did a quality job. Amount quoted below is for both roof and siding.

Responded quickly to request for quote and they were able to put on a brand new roof in a matter of two days. They cleaned up everything well and the roof looks great. Fair price too!

I had to send him an email asking for the estimate, though he told me it would be sent within a few days of days of our meeting. This was his response sent to me by email: "Due to a full schedule I will not be able to bid on your roof work. Thanks, John Harman" I'm glad he is busy. But folks, he should let you know he is too busy to provide you with an estimate before taking up your time to meet with you.

Harco was very professional and the work was of high quality. We received 5 bids on this job that spanned more than $10,000 between the lowest and the highest bidder. Harco was one of the middle bids, but we chose them because John (the owner) seemed to be honest, genuine and quite skilled and knowledgeable. He was available to explain any questions we had and listened to our input carefully. He and his team were punctual and respectful. The job took 3 days and they thoroughly cleaned each day. I appreciated that John was on site with his crew and was aware of everything they were doing. He is not an absent boss by any means. We are pleased with the look of our new roof and are happy to not worry about our old roof failing anymore. I am quite confident that we won't have to think about this part of the house for years to come. The job (timing, price) was exactly as quoted.

John and his crew replaced our roof last year. He was very professional, gave realistic timeframes and a fair price. The work was completed in a timely manner and clean up was flawless. Our neighbor (who works at home) even commented on how thorough they were with clean up. We had an issue recently where a couple of shingles came loose. We contacted John and he came the next day to repair it. Can't say enough good things about Harco Exteriors and would highly recommend them.

Harco Exteriors replaced our entire roof in the Summer of 2013. They installed new windows and did complete paint job in the Fall of 2014. I was extremely happy with both jobs. Harco Exteriors was prompt in answering my calls, priced the jobs fairly and delivered as promised. The crews were both professional and neat. I would use their services again as well as recommend them to a friend.

Very good work. Started and finished quickly, neat and professional. Cleaned the property afterward. It has rained a few times since job was complete, and no evidence of leaks. I recommend them.

I had used Harco before at our previous house and had a good experience with them. This time, however, it was less great. John came out when he said he would for a quote. He looked around and even climbed out on part of the roof. We had two roof areas that needed to be replaced-- one complete side on the back of the house, and one lower roof over a single-story extension. Both roofs are low-slope so we knew we couldn't do a pretty shingle-style roof. He recommended a Flintlastic roof, which he said is a rolled material more durable than the standard rubber roof material. He said he wasn't sure if he could get the original layer off the main roof, and if not, he'd have to go with the rubber roof for that section. He also said a skylight had been installed incorrectly and needed to boxed up higher for correct flashing, and included that in the price. I signed the proposal and faxed it in to him. He was able to come a week or so earlier than his original date, which was a nice surprise. Right after they started John called and said they weren't able to get the first layer off the main section so they'd have to go with the rubber material. His crew was there for two days doing the work. At the end of the first day there was stuff all over the ground which was not a big deal as I wasn't living there at the time, but if I'd been living there with my family that might have been a problem as the yard was unusable. However, at the end of the second day they cleaned everything up and it looked just as it did before. Also, the crew that reboxed the skylight left a lot of debris on the floor in the room below and didn't clean it up, which would have been nice. At the end of the job, the foreman told me they were done and then we both stood there awkwardly as I asked him what the final amount was (he didn't know). He then called John on his phone and handed it to me, and John wasn't sure either. I mentioned the number he gave me in the quote and he said that sounded about right. Of course, in the moment, I forgot to ask if the rubber roof should have been less expensive than the roof he originally quoted me for. And quite honestly, I still have that nagging feeling like I paid more than I should have. I wish John had come by to check the work of his crew. I kept expecting him to show up but never saw him after his quote. It would have been good to have this conversation in person. The roof itself looks OK-- a low-slope roof is not very sexy, after all. There are some ripples and bumps in the rolled material that made me wonder though if it was supposed to look like that. Also, when I climbed out to paint a few of the new clapboards they had added to cover the new flashing on the lower roof I noticed that a lot of gashes had been taken out of surrounding clapboards. The new clapboards seemed hastily nailed on-- we'd just had some clapboards replaced elsewhere on the house so I knew it should be neater. Again, if John had been there I could have asked him about all of this. Unfortunately, all of these things left a bad taste in my mouth.

I highly recommend Harco. I had waited longer than I should have to paint the house (kids in college) and it looked pretty shabby. There was also quite a bit of carpentry work that needed to be done. John Harman, the owner, looked at everything carefully and told me what needed to be done. He is very straightforward and to the point. No sales pitch and no hype. And no scare tactics about rot or mold like I heard from some of the others that gave me quotes. He gave me good advice about what needed to be replaced, what could be repaired and what could wait until next time. His quote was very competitive. Work actually started a few weeks earlier than scheduled due to a cancellation. And once they got started, they stayed on the project until it was completed. Everything went according to plan. Ahmed, the carpenter and crew chief is fantastic. He does excellent work and is very easy to work with. He is very courteous and friendly and provides great customer service. The final result was better than I had hoped for. John and his crew have very high standards and it shows. The house looks better than ever. We went with a new color scheme so it was quite a dramatic transformation (we had a designer help pick the colors, a new front door and light ? it was definitely worth it). We have received many compliments from the neighbors. The final price was exactly as quoted. There were no problems, issues, drama or surprises. I highly recommend Harco!

I received very abrupt and unprofessional response to my inquiry about a roof job. The first reply was "We are not available." When I asked "Ever?" the reply was "We do not do roof repairs, only complete roof replacement. JH" According to all the other reviews on Angies' List, this is UNTRUE. There are many smaller job descriptions listed under this company. They are basically denying service. Very unprofessional and and unpleasant correspondence.

It was the best experience I had so far in terms of renovation work etc. The company incl. subcontractors were very professional, helpful, worked hard and with high quality. The owner of the company did an estimate on the spot and delivered on time and money with high quality. They even did additional little services out of courtesy that I a single mom if two I highly appreciated it. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I got a newly changed roof that leaked badly this winter. I suspect something was not doing correctly by the roofer. So I called John to inspect. John was on time, did the inspection and found issues with the flash installation, missing shingles and a few other things.

I used Harco (John Harman) for 3 separate projects and was very happy with the work that he did. He replaced all of the gutters including rotted facia boards at one house and installed a new roof at another house. The most recent project was a gutter / downspout repair. The pitch was off on 2 sections of gutter and water was pooling at the corner. He had to correct the pitch and, add additional support brackets, and reposition the downspout. I am very happy with the work that he does. He is very professional and knowledgable. He does good work and his prices are fair. I have recommended him to several friends.

John,Ahmed and crew installed 18 energy star rated windows for us in October, just in for us to save money on our costly winter energy bill. First thy insulated all the window pockets , then installed the new windows which were sealed with caulking both inside and out then they did a fantastic clean up . we have had substantial energy savings already. I was impressed with the fact that the glass from the old windows was 100% recycled . They reroofed our house four years ago and we were glad to be able to hire them for the window work because our previous experience with them was so positive .
