We were referred by my wife's friend who had also worked with Tom on one of their previous inspections. He was said to be super professional, meticulous, and really helpful. He didn't disappoint. Tom was punctual (despite our tardiness), and throughout the inspection my wife and I felt that he was truly on our side as the buyer. Tom spared no detail and spent nearly two hours with us, our agent and the selling agent going through every nook and cranny of the condo. He told us what needed immediate fixes or repair, potential problem areas, outlets that needed replacing, and also told us a lot about the things that he really liked seeing--i.e. well-done door installations, and more. One of the things he told us right away was that he conducts all inspections as though he is the buyer. My wife and I really felt that he gave us loads of great information about the condo. And as part of the inspection he also made sure that we understood what he was seeing. We really enjoyed working with Tom. His inspection report was very thorough and we received it within 24 hours. Highly recommend working with Tom to any other first time home buyer, or to anyone who wants a really thorough inspection.

Tom did an extremely thorough job on both our inspections. The first one, led us not to purchase the home because of serious issues he discovered. The second one was just as thorough and gave us confidence to purchase. I highly recommend Tom!

Tom performed the inspection quite thoroughly. He did miss a small problem on the front stairs but the Seller fixed it as it was quite clear cut. Tom did not provide pictures in the inspection report, but sent some pictures via text messages when I asked. He forgot to mention a problem or two in the report but added them in after I requested so. (However, I think this is quite common. As a licensed broker I have many experience like that.) So the advice would be "take your own notes and read the report". The only complaint was when we first engaged over the phone, Tom quoted $750 for general inspection and $75 for Radon. He asked for $850, which was $25 extra, after the inspection was done. Considering that he spent 4.5 hours in the house and we are quite happy with his findings and tips, I wrote a check of $850 without challenging him. But that's the only reason I gave him a B grade on price. I would recommend Tom to my clients.

He is very kind, friendly and really hard working guy. I can trust him, he didn't miss anything that could be problems. He is very reliable.

Sorry this is probably a late review, but Tom is very responsible and the inspection was very thorough. He invited us to tour the house with him and pointed out every detail that might need immediate or future attention. We've very happy about his service and will definitely recommend to my friends if they need home inspection!

Tom Herbst from Clayton Home Inspection provided a very thorough home inspection. Unlike many home inspectors we contacted, he responded to our initial phone message and was very easy to schedule. He did an excellent job inspecting our home. He responded to all of our questions and spent a significant amount of time reviewing the home's components and systems with us. He found a number of things that were small-medium issues with the house. While these things did not way-lay the home sale, by bringing these issues up--he saved us having to back-in to these concerns down the road. We brought our own camera to take pictures while he did the inspection. And I would advise other home buyers to do this, too. While Tom does not provide photos with his inspection report (at this time), the report itself is very detailed and thorough. The report we received was 12 pages long and we were happy with the depth of the content. It helped us understand the home concerns that we had to immediately deal with, other issues that we would need to deal with in the future, and what home areas are good to keep an eye on. We would certainly use him again in any subsequent home purchases.

This was by far the BEST home inspection that I have ever had, period! I have owned 6 properties and have never had a home inspector be so thorough and take the time to go through every inch of the property. Thomas spent over 4 hours going through this 1,500 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch from roof to slab. All I can say is before you spend thousands of dollars on a new home, have Clayton Home Inspection go through it top to bottom to let you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.. After hiring Tiger Home Inspection for my previous house I can honestly say I'm not going to hire "Brand Name" company. Tom was thorough with the process and let you know exactly what need. He was worth EVERY penny I paid to get the money that we need to lower the price. Honest, hard working man is what we all needed. Tom is your guy to hire.

The inspection done was very thorough and professional. Would recommend for inspection. We ended up not buying the property, however was very satisfied with the detailed report provided by Thomas.

This is the third time we are using Clayton Home Inspection. The house being inspected was 1000 sq ft ranch built in about 1950. The inspection took about 3.5 - 4 hours even though the house was not big, , which is good,. Thomas arrived earlier and was already checking outside when I arrived. As in my 2 previous inspections, he was very thorough, checked every detail even in difficult to get places like crawlspaces, under the deck. Many issues were discovered, among them were termite damage, leaking oil tank, damaged wires, etc. which is difficult to find yourself. Thomas has a good experience in construction and it was valuable to know how things should have been done properly. There is definately big value in his service and I would recommend him.

I believe I used them and they are pretty good. They were pretty professional and I have no complaints. I decided to use him because of Angie's List and he was available. Their price was good.

We hired Clayton Home Inspection for a home inspection for a house we made an offer. Tom was extremely knowledgeable and easy to reach. This is the most thorough home inspection we have had. He not only discovered the potential problems with the house we planed to buy but also pointed out many area we weren't noticed previously. The entire inspection process went on for 5.5 hours, as a current home owner, we are very impressed by his work ethnic and broad knowledge of house, from heating system, building foundation regulation, to structural acknowledgement. The inspection costs $550 and it is worth every penny. We are highly recommend Clayton Home inspection for your home inspection.

Very well, the inspection was very thorough. We got a good idea not only of potential issues of the house we were going to buy but also of things it would be advisable to fix when we move in. Tom asked us questions to make sure we understood everything. There are stories of the home inspector getting in and doing a quick and lousy job, this was completely different.

He did a pretty good job. He is very polite and easy to get in touch with. His price are reasonable.
