I filled out a card at the New England Home Show for Kitchen Magic and these people now call me NON-STOP. Literally 6 times a day, 7 days a week. I'm even now starting to get calls from them at 9PM on a Sunday! I've told them multiple times that I was not interested in using there business, but they still call. These people are STALKERS.

I called them to find out what they can do and the initial call was very good. They were very responsive and provided me a lot of information. So a week later I called them back to schedule a consultation. They were able to schedule something the very next day. I was thrilled. But the next day they left me a message that they couldn't make the appointment. That was disappointing but I can understand that. Then called me at odd hours rather than just leaving me another message to reschedule. So I scheduled another appointment with them and they did not show. No phone call or email, no nothing. And that is after they had to keep me on the phone for more than 30 minutes just to reschedule the appointment. They spent most of the time asking me the same questions over and over again. I spoke to three people that day and each one asked me my contact information. So painful. I decided with the little time I had I didn't want to waste my time with them anymore. They were obviously not interested in hearing about my project.

Kitchen Magic Inc. Kitchen Magic, is extremely expensive, was way more expensive (2,000 more), than the other estimates we had gotten. The quality of their cabinets were real good.

Feedback is very important to us, and provides us with the opportunity to clarify important distinctions about our products and services. We are keenly aware that cost is a key consideration with any investment. However, Kitchen Magic never claims to be the cheapest. It is impossible to be both the least expensive and the best. We have found, however, there is a wonderful middle ground, where few other companies are able to live, where customers benefit from impeccable value, affordability and outstanding service. Living in that space takes a huge commitment to excellence on all fronts, and that is the space Kitchen Magic lives in. Our products and services are the finest American Made quality, backed by our Lifetime Warranty. And after more than three decades and fifty thousand kitchens, we are still here, keeping our promises to customers. Thank you for your feedback and for reading this response.

Met their representatives at a Home Show where we had decided to get a few quotes from vendors for new countertops. Met a very nice couple there who gave the impression that it was small family-owned company. We agreed to have someone come out and give us an estimate. The representative was on-time one evening and brought samples of both the granite and quartz in which we had expressed interest. In speaking with him we realized that the company was a very large out-of-state company. He did spend substantial time with us talking about our options, all the while not-so-subtly steering us away from granite to the more expensive quartz products. Finally as he was figuring the price of the job he kept warning us that this was not going to be cheap, and to get ready because this was not a small job. He estimated the cost to be around $14,000 for granite and higher for the quartz. Luckily we had already gotten a quote for granite that was less than a quarter of that price. Had this been our first estimate we likely would have decided not to do the work as it would have been out of our budget. A couple of days later we got a call from the sales rep telling us that the price of granite had dramatically dropped that week and that we could now get the job done for a mere $8,800.00. In the end we got 6 estimates, none of which were greater than $5,500.00. We ended up going with an A-rated Angie's list company and I will post my review when the work is completed. I'd stay away from these Kitchen Magicians. I guess they bank on people who only get one estimate.

Based on our records the original price quote provided to the member was for a Cambria Quartz countertop, not granite. Cambria is an engineered quartz surface and is more costly than granite, which, depending on quality and source, has a wide price range as well as wide variations in quality. While price is, of course an important consideration, our focus is never on being the absolute cheapest. Kitchen Magic uses only the highest quality products, backed with the peace of mind of dedicated service team and a lifetime product warranty. When we visit folks for an estimate, it is our job to give them the best advice, free and without obligation, whether we earn their business or not. Our representatives invest a significant amount of time and often drive long distances to provide this service, the last thing we wish to do is leave a potential customer with a less than desirable impression of our company. We always consider carefully what we might have done better, and certainly apologize for any actions on our part that this member was unhappy with. Please note, Kitchen Magic has been transforming kitchens for over 32 years and has tens of thousands of delighted customers. It’s important to note that this member did not purchase a product or service from Kitchen Magic, we provided a free in home estimate only. Thank you for taking the time to read our response. OMG - they pulled the "your husband has to make the decisions" card on me! I called the company for an estimate, and they refused to even schedule an appointment unless my husband would be there as well. My husband travels 25% of the time and simply doesn't care about house stuff, so I've been handling it all solo for 15 years, but that just wasn't good enough for them. They refused to even schedule an appointment. I'm completely appalled at the sexism--in 15 years of working with contractors in many forms, I've never had someone else refuse to visit because "the man of the house" wasn't around.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NO BUSINESS TRANSACTION HAS TAKEN PLACE WITH THIS ANGIE’S LIST CUSTOMER. We regret this client perceived bias in our requirement to have wife, husband, partner or other advising party present for our free consultation. That is not the case and it is our last objective to alienate a potential customer. As a matter of fact, we are a company owned by four women who completely understand the challenges of juggling a household, family work, home and schedule. Though our consultation is a free service to consumers, it is quite costly to our company and representatives. We do feel it is our job to offer the best advice, free and without obligation, whether we earn a customer’s business or not. Our designers often drive long distances to reach an appointment and once there, assess the situation and needs and create an individualized solution that will bring the most value. This can take considerable time, but to ensure consumers receive the full benefit of our expertise, we do not put a time limit on our design consultations. Each person learning about our products, options and company will have different questions. We have found when a key person is absent and does not have the chance to view the full presentation and ask their own questions, we are invariably asked to return. Of course for all of us, time is simply limited resource; we cannot make more of it than we have in each day. In order to best allocate our consultant’s time and travel, and continue to provide this free service, we must be able to present the company and products at one visit and answer all questions at that time. Hopefully this clears up any misconception as to why we do have that requirement for anyone wishing to take advantage of our free consultation. Thank you for taking the time to read this response. Respectfully, The Kitchen Magic Family

The job that they did was wonderful. They were terrific. The countertops look beautiful. The quality of their work is excellent and their workmanship was excellent. I would use them again in the future.

We are very happy with their service. My wife was down there yesterday, and she was happy with what she saw. They did the work within our home. They have a good process and it's standardized. They were very efficient and very professional. They were a little expensive. If we would have shopped around, we could have got the job done at little less money; but we were happy enough with them.

Many calls back and forth between us and their office (Jerri Stocker and others) to set appt and then had to reschedule once on our part, then once they had to resched. Then they sched to send out a guy who then requested we shift our appt later in the day. Told them it wasn't possible. So, he came at originally resched time. He said he was the regional guy and he really wanted to "do our house" after he knew it was an historic house. (We read: I might get a big commission b/c these folks have a BIG house that's got an historic sign on it). He told us how we should tailor the job to fit our needs. He took no measurements, but gave us what we thought was a high number based on really not much thought. He then told us that he could give us a $1,000 "credit" toward our job IF we signed on with him by the next morning. We had 24 hours to decide or we lost our $1,0000 "credit." I told him we had a better offer from Sears and that they were willing to give us $1,000 plus "good customer" credit toward our job without pressure. And, they could offer us 24 mos. interest free financing-- to which he countered, "we have credit programs, but I honestly don't think most people who credit should have it." We were stunned. He started calling us the next morning to see if we'd go with them, and then after ignoring his repeated calls for about 3-4 days, he stopped. As an aside, my husband saw a huge display for them at a local mall - so obviously they have lots of capital and credit lines tied up in their own overhead -- seems kind of hypocritical. Also, the regional rep mentioned above doesn't even have a company emial account. He wrote his gmail address on his business card...... hmmmmmm

Overall, it was a good experience. However, we opted to go with a cheaper approach.
Description of Work: Bruce McAllister, a design consultant with Kitchen Magic, came to our condo to do a free estimate to reface the cabinets in our kitchen. He was very thorough, arrived at about 11:15am on a Sunday morning and left at about 3:30pm.(We may have kept him longer than usual as we had questions and asked him to recalculate a few times to get the lowest cost possible.) Our kitchen is small, about 11x7. We asked for an estimate to reface our existing cabinetry (3 lower cabinets, 5 upper, 2 drawers), move 2 existing cabinets to another wall, build a corner cabinet unit (upper and lower cabinets) and 1 new upper cabinet, and include a new countertop (laminate). The cost estimate came out to about $10,400 including installation. Considering the quality of the material used to reface (he had a cabinet door sample that was attractive and seemed durable) and the guarantee that they would come out to fix any future problems, the cost seemed reasonable. The photos that we saw of completed kitchens using the resurfacing material looked impressive. (Couldn't discern the difference between the photos of refaced vs new cabinetry.) Unfortunately, we are on a tight budget and our intention is to sell the condo in the near future. Though Bruce seemed to think that we could recoup the cost of the remodel in the sales price, I was doubtful in this market. After discussing with our realtor, we opted to go with an IKEA kitchen and install ourselves. Hope we don't regret the decision....

The quote was for $10000. They were fantastic with punctuality. My experience with them was fantastic too. Everything was wonderful. However, I didn’t use them and went with another company because of the feedback that I had gotten from various sources. I decided to go with a provider whose work I had seen. I also thought I should go with someone that offered higher quality.

We respectfully disagree with the preference of another company over Kitchen Magic for ‘quality’ reasons and are always happy to explain why! Perhaps our consultant did not adequately convey the true nature of Kitchen Magic’s products. Kitchen Magic offers only the finest materials, custom manufactured by skilled craftspeople in our factory under strict quality control standards. Additionally, only certified installers perform all Kitchen Magic projects. We back this up with a ‘Worry-Free Lifetime Warranty’. During every consultation, the homeowner is also presented with our list of over 5,000 customer references who have agreed to be available to talk about their experience with Kitchen Magic, our unsurpassed quality and expertise. We set out to delight each and every customer. In the end, though the Member did not choose Kitchen Magic we do hope she is happy with the final outcome of her kitchen and wish her many happy and healthy years enjoying it!

On the phone, we discussed the scope of the job I'm looking to have done - refacing the kitchen cabinets and changing to granite counter tops. The woman on the phone was eager to schedule an in-home consultation and even offered "a $25 gift card" to a large chain store with a red logo "just for letting us into your home" for the consultation and estimate. Then she asked me when I was available. I told her which mornings I am free because my youngest is in school three days a week. And THEN she asked if my husband would be there. I said no. She said "they really like to have both of you there." I don't know if "they" are the sales department or the owners. Either way, I made it clear I wasn't interested in making the appointment to include him. (He commutes an hour to work and gets home about 9:30 most nights. He doesn't have time for estimate because he's earning money for things like granite counter tops.) She said a lot of people have my attitude about it, but that "they" really prefer speaking with "both of you." I said I won't schedule it. I paused. I said I want to do it during the week. She repeated herself. I said "thanks, anyway, but then I won't do the estimate." I paused again. I waited. Nothing. I said "thanks, anyway" and hung up. She actually, really, I-can't-believe-it, just let the whole sale go! Because they wanted the man of the house there? I can't believe it! The punch line is they promote themselves as being a woman-owned company. Unbelievable.
Description of Work: I filled out a contact information form at a home show and they contacted me about a week later to try to schedule an estimate. Then they were so insulting that we will never use this company.

We always appreciate feedback from our customers and prospective customers. It helps us understand our the needs of our audience. While our estimates are free to the homeowner, they are at a cost to Kitchen Magic. We prefer to have all homeowners present at the time of the estimate and consultation. This way, we can answer everyone's questions in one sitting instead of making numerous visits. Which we of course will do if needed. It is our goal to delight our customers. We are here to answer any questions if you decide to use our services.

The initial sales contact did not fully inform me regarding the process, and made assertions that proved to be misleading or untrue. Carpenter assigned to the project did not work the hours promised. Showed up when he wanted, and never considered my needs. Did not explain the process so that he actually installed shelves I cannot remove over old contact paper. Looks shabby. Took forever to get pieces that were missing. When I addressed him, he lost his ability to speak English and was a little curt. He never did complete the detailing. When I complained to the Company, I was dismissed and not served. To be fair, the man who installed the coutertops and sink was very exacting and professional. Unfortunately, he and the carpenter did not work in sync. Project was supposed to take 7-10 days. Took more than 3 weeks.

Overall our kitchen looks great, and the refacers were very pleasant and finished the work in 2 days. The difference in our kitchen is night and day. However, there are a few quality issues with the work. Some of the veneer they placed over our cabinets became loose, and we had to call them in to fix that. Also, they put in a heavy duty drawer under our oven, but used materials that could not take the load of a drawer that size. We had them come in, and they said they would order more robust materials for the cabinet, but we have yet to hear back from them and that was over a month ago.

This company has a policy of not coming out to meet with you unless your spouse is also available. Understandable that a company would like a couple to be on the same page, but every household makes decisions and divides household tasks up differently. Making it a policy for two working people to take time out from their weekday just to get a bid is not practical. When it is a woman calling, one who is used to making plenty of decisions independently about work and home, it also feels sexist and paternalistic.
