Description of Work: Actual call is for tune up and discovered no gas in condenser and possible gas leak. To check gas leak they asked to book another appointment which would be sometime in September which is not reasonable and price to charge gas is pretty much high and not guarantee to ref-fill it for free if leaks found later. So decided not to use their service and looking for other economic options.

Description of Work: We had a great experience with Swampscott Refrigeration. We wanted to install central air, we made a call and Jim, the owner, came the very same day. He took his time and looked at our existing furnace and duct work, measured our living area and answered our question. We got a written estimate within 2 days. We had additional questions and concerns with our existing furnace and Jim stopped by again to take another look. The installation took a few hours, they made sure the new AC and existing heating system worked, they cleaned up and took all the packaging with them. Overall we are very happy with the service Jim, his office staff and installation crew provided. We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.

+ -1 moreI was able to schedule them right away, and I appreciated that, because they came just before the big heat wave. They put in freon gas and the 2 workers who came, said that the gas would cost additional, and I was expecting the gas to cost less than the service call, but a month later, I got a bill of 250 Dollars for the coolant. I called somebody in the office, and she was very polite, gave us our explanation and said that the cost had gone way up, and they had given me a discount. I would have wanted to know upfront, what it would cost, and if there were other options. I am expecting a call back from the owners daughter, she was supposed to call me a week ago. I could also pick the phone and call them, but I wish it had been resolved before. We have a very difficult to service area, it involves going up a closet, into a crawl space in the closet and we had to have them come when it is pretty hot, they showed up on a timely basis, they went up there and they didn't complain. I would use them again.

Description of Work: Blower motor burned out on a Friday night and we were left without heat, They were the only ones who called us back. They did not have the part in stock so they were unable to come out that night. The got the part first thing in the morning on Saturday and came right out and installed.

+ -1 moreOur air conditioning system was 25 years old and was inefficient and had a leak that was causing some ceiling damage. After getting several different estimates, we chose Swampscott Refrigeration. Jim and the other staff were great to work with. Everything was completed on time and very professionally. There were no surprises and no additional charges. We didn't get to test it out until this year because it was after the end of the cooling season when it was installed. Everything works great. We are very happy with it and would highly recommend Swampscott Refrigeration.
Description of Work: We had to replace our system and install a new Carrier high efficiency air conditioning system. The old equipment was disposed of and a new air handler suspended from the rafters along with the new condenser and thermostat. The existing ductwork needed to be modified to accept the new air handler.

+ -1 moreWe came home on Sunday night to find the first floor of our house stuck at 62 degrees, the furnace clearly on, and the second floor a balmy 75 degrees... clearly something was wrong. We called Swampscott mid-afternoon Monday, and they were able to book an appointment convienient to me same-day with an estimate of $125. They arrived on time, were pleasant, and best of all, they diagnosed and fixed the problem (blown blower capacitor) within 30 min. They haven't sent me the bill yet... but their competitors want $95 just to walk in the door. I'm just so happy that I don't have to go another day without heat in December!
