Bob H from Beverly, MA Needed to replace my old central air system. Called Swampscott Refrigeration and Jeff came right out to look at the system. I was provided a detailed proposal outlining the equipment list, work to be done and date for the install. The crew arrived promptly and the AC was up and running in four hours. Everyone introduced themselves and was very respectful of the property. The final bill matched the proposal to the penny, no surprises. I just received all of the closeout documents - final invoice, warranty, maintenance instructions and specifications. I am in the construction business and work with contractors every day. Swampscott Refrigeration got high marks across the board. They are highly rated in the community and I would recommend them without hesitation.

They came when I call. They checked units inside. Everything was fine. They always do what I asked. They have a reasonable pricing.

They came on a very hot day, very responsive and efficient.

I didn't pay. I love my air conditioning. All I can say is, they're great. They did what they were supposed to do. I don't know much about air conditioning. It's been 2 years and I still don't know much about air conditioning. I haven't had to do anything except for change the filter. I think they're great.

mostly, things went great. i had called in the morning though to verify my appointment time. they had no record of me ever calling, my name was nowhere on their schedule, though i had a full conversation with someone there the previous week. so i was rescheduled for 2 days later. conveniently one of their guys called later that day and asked if i would like them to come then instead of friday. i was pleasantly surprised and delighted. chris and kurt came less than a half hour later, helped me bring some things up the stairs to my condo and then quickly got their job done. they were friendly and personable, genuinely nice guys.

The people at Swampscott Refrigeratiion were very professional from my first phone call to the installation of my new furnace and air conditioner. I got three estimates. Theirs was not the lowest but their concern for my needs (the owner came out to to examine the site himself when I expressed concern about the need for an air purifier) made them the easy choice. I live in a condo so was concerned about noise but throughout the process the workmen were very quiet - no complaints from my neighbors. They replaced a very old system, making accommodations for a very damp location, replaced a rusted out return with an insulated system and replaced my thermostat as well. I would call Swampscott Refrigeration in the future for any HVAC work that needs doing.

Not good! Although they visited our home they never came back or returned our many telephone calls, despite our many attempts to contact them. Apparently, they do not need our business.$1000

We attempted to get 3 quotes from 3 different very highly rated providers on Angie's list. Because we have a 1 level ranch on a slab with a small attic / crawl space the other two providers immediately told us they wouldn't do traditional central AC with ducts up in the attic. They tried to push us to do ductless AC units where they punch a hole in your wall and use a big heavy duty wall unit. We were pretty clear that our preference was traditional Central AC but they were pretty adamant. My girlfriend really doesn't like the aesthetic look of ductless wall units. Swampscott was amazing. They showed up. Looked around quickly, up in the attic and said no problem. They came back with a very reasonable quote. We went through Mass Saves which allowed us to do an interest free finance of the cost of the installation and they helped fill out all the paperwork for us with the quote. They even were able to install our unit nearly a month earlier than the initial date they gave us. They also finished the work in basically 2 days instead of 3. So far it works like a charm and we will definitely use them again! It couldn't have been a better experience.

They have tried to do a maintenance of a/c System. Put a wrong size filter - it took a lot time for the next a/c contractor to remove and replace with correct size. Broke a several plastic pipes, but fixed them. Made a lot of mess with dirty shoes. I paid for their services through Angies list, but they kept sending me a invoices for more than year. Extremely unprofessional services.

The previous owners of my home were "do it yourselfers" who have created an abundance of problems in their absence. The AC unit was no exception. They mismatched the indoor unit with the outdoor unit (loss for technical words). They used brands that were odd and not clearly labeled with parts that would be hard to come by. Jeff, from Swampscott Refrigeration, set to task to find a valve that would allow for the units to adapt to each other. The men he worked with were all so polite, prompt and focused. When I called the office, the receptionist and the owner were also very nice and informative. I would recommend this company without hesitation as they were actually recommended to me by a friend. Seeing the almost all grades of A that they have received just made me feel more secure - and rightly so.

In the middle of the night, a very, very strange smell started coming out of the vents in my house when my central air was on(wasn't mold oranything organic smelling) I'd never experienced anything like that in 3years of having the unit. In a panic (I have two infants at home who I didn't want breathing in anything dangerous) I contacted Swampscott Refrigeration through Angie's list (email, since it was 2am) gave them my availability for the following day and just hoped they'd be free. They contacted me in the morning (though I didn't get to read the email until noon, but they'd went ahead and put me in the schedule for that afternoon--I found this out when I called to see if they were still free--I was so grateful they went ahead and booked the appointment. By 3pm, their service man arrived and he not only checked everything, cleaned out everything that needed cleaning out, but he taught me how the whole system worked so that I could understand how the airflow works in central air, where potential problems might occur, and what to look for if there is a problem. He also described, in detail, what I would experience inside the house of there was ever a refrigerant leak (I didn't have a leak, though the smell had been so odd, I wanted to be sure what would have happened if I had). Although he couldn't find a source for the smell (it had gone away earlier that morning after I'd turned the unit off for a few hours). So the smell was a mystery, but I'm so grateful they came out so fast, were polite and friendly over the phone and in person, and that, not only, the system checked out well, but that I got a lesson in how it all worked too--including which pipes should be cold to the touch, which ones should be warm, and what to do if any of that changed. Being a crazed mom of infants during a string of hot, humid days, I'm so happy Swampscott Refrigeration popped up on Angie's list so I could try them out. They were so responsive and helpful that, even though the smell was a mystery, I now have a company I'd be happy to call again if anything else ever happens with the system.

The whole process took 15 minutes, which seemed rather quick for $99.00. I guess the cleaning and diagnostic follow-up would be more thorough.

It went extremely well. I obtained estimates from three companies, and Swampscott Refrigeration was much lower than one, and significantly lower than the other. But what impressed me the most was the "extra mile" they went to confirm they would be able to extend the duct work into the three room addition I added to the house many years ago. The other two companies said they would not be able to access those three rooms, thus I would need to install ductless units there, which obviously would increase the cost significantly. However, the owner of Swampscott Refrigeration (James Carone) said he was pretty sure he'd be able to access those rooms. When I asked him what would happen if they could not, he offered to send a technician out to investigate it first, even before I signed the contract with them. They cut a small access hole in the hallway ceiling, and discovered it was wide open above, and he even cut an access point into the original crawl space to make it more readily accessible in the future. He estimated 3 days to complete the job, and he was just off by 1/2 day. They were all very professional and polite, and answered all my questions. As promised, they left the place clean, and the system has been working great. I highly recommend them to anyone considering installing central air and/or a heat pump system.

This company was excellent to deal with. The owner, Jim, walked me through my entire home, made suggestions on what would work best for us and explained the install process. He then provided a quote within the week and we were put on schedule for the install. His whole team was exceptional; his daughter works in the office and was very helpful with scheduling and assisting with a rebate, every morning, workers arrived on schedule and were very courteous, and Jim assisted in the completion of the job, overseeing final details and ensuring I was happy with the setup. The job was completed on time, there were no surprises cost wise and the AC works great. I honestly couldn't have asked for more.

He came out in the evening after he was through with his service calls. They were the ones who originally installed my system a few years back but they show up quickly every time I call for repairs. EXCELLENT service.

Very responsive. They are sensitive to my ill sibling who is on oxygen. They are able to service any sort of system, no matter where it's located. Our system is through a closet and up in a crawlspace and they are able to reach it. I've had other companies that refused to go up there, and said they didn't have anyone who could even fit. They did a great job. Swampscott refrigeration is a family owned business, and the owners daughters work in the office, and they have lovely manners.

He serviced my AC and added freon

Our return vents were significantly under powered, they did a wonderful job of updating the returns. They were very efficient in installing the AC. They were very respectful as well. The unit has been working wonderfully. I have no complaints. The price is a little higher then other quotes, but the works was very excellent. They were unable to hard wire the thermostat so they installed a wireless which has worked awesome. I would use them again.

Ken Shallow, the service manager of Excel, was very thorough in his inspection, and then carefully explained all that he had discovered. The units now work as if new. I will rely on his firm for all future work of this kind.

Excellent service, AC was not blowing cold air, called at 8am, tech was here by 11.15am and system was repaired within 1/2 hour. Service tech was very friendly, knowledgeable and courteous.
