I keep my system very clean anyway (Cigars), so they didn't have a lot to clean. They gave everything a good look over inside, then took the cover off the outside unit, and checked that out. They gave me good advice, when I asked them about raising my outside unit, and a week later returned with the stands, and installed them (no problem, looks good). They also told me about a form cleaner that I could spray directly on the coils that would help with any odors etc. They offered to do this for me, but the Air conditioner had to run afterward, and it was a cold day, so I declined, and said I would take care of it when it got warmer. Everything was pretty painless overall, no problems.

No problems with the company as they were professional and responsive. However, they were not able to service my particular type of unit.

I would use them again and noting bad happened and nothing special was done.

He verified that all was functioning well and it did not need any repairs. I needed to have this checked so the house could be put on the market.

Great company to deal with. Office staff are wonderful. Very helpful and always returned calls promptly. Everybody involved with the job (Jim - the owner, and the installers) were professional, always punctual and friendly. I would highly recommend Swampscott Refrigeration to others and I would definitely use this company again myself.

They contacted us pretty quickly. When the technician got here they advised they don’t do forced hot water. Otherwise, they were pretty good.

The Big Deal that is offered assumes that people know the difference between a furnace and a boiler. Seems there should be more detail on the deal that is offered. There shouldn't be an offer when there are pre-qualifications that need to take place.

Great. Got a coupon on Angies List for $99 for $125.00 service and had an apt within a week (due to very hot weather and lots of service calls it took a week to get). A reminder was sent to us about date/time of service, repair person arrived on time, knew exactly what was needed and finished within an hour. Freon was extra and total of service was $206 (including the coupon).

Everything went very well. The technician arrived within the time window allotted for the work, he was professional, he appeared to do a thorough job. Swampscott Refrigeration installed our A.C. approximately 7 years ago and we are very happy with the unit.

They were here when they said they were going to come and they did a nice job. The price was very reasonable.

The job came out very well. The install guys showed on time and were very courteous. I couldn't help but to notice how clean they were - laying down tarps from my upstairs to the downstairs. They removed the old system and installed a new Carrier compressor and air handler (as noted above, it was located in the attic) - it went perfectly. They even vacuumed the rug when they were finished. I told them they didn't need to but they insisted. Brenda at the office did a great job coordinating and answering my questions. You can tell they have many yrs of experience in the business, they did not hard sell, knew what to do and didn't chase me for payment. They trusted me to place a check in the mail. Maybe I'm just getting old but I LIKE that. I couldn't ask for a better experience. I'd also add, their bid was very competitive. I shopped around and had at least 6-8 bids on the job but decided to go with Swampscott Refrig due to the price and great reviews. I HIGHLY recommend them!

Swampscott Refrigeration is everything you hope for in a contractor but very rarely find. John and Paul arrived on time; the office actually called to say they were on the way. How many companies do that. They completed a very difficult repair in a cramped space and as of today it appears to be working. Everyone I spoke to was pleasant and professional. I will use them for my annual tuneup.

They contacted me and let me know that even though they listed my county on the deal they do not service my area.

Both times they were excellent. They were very responsive, very gracious and polite. Most importantly they knew immediately how to fix the furnace. They are my "go to guys" for the future.

I had Swampscott Refrigeration service my approx. 35 year old gas furnace in September to prepare for winter. About 2 weeks later the blower started making squealing noices the same as it had the previous winter. Swampscott Refrigeration came out promptly and tightened a belt at no charge. Again the noice started but worse. They came out on a weekend, greased or oiled the blower motor and again no charge. The noice began again and we determined it was time for a new furnace which they promptly installed plus added a new heat register in a newly created room. I feel that Jim (owner?)was extremly dilligent in making sure that all was well and that I was satisfied with their service.

I purchased a furnace tune up through Angie's list. Upon examining the furnace, Jim determined that there was a repair needed that would ameliorate a loud noise coming from the fan. Our furnace was still under warranty, and Jim did all of the legwork for me to work with the parts shop and the manufacturer to get the expensive part taken care of under the warranty. Not to mention he was willing to come out during the snowstorm but was unable to because the parts shop had closed, so returned the next day as soon as the roads were driveable. I received numerous calls between Jim and Brenda to confirm times and availability and they made the process seamless.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was great. The price was reasonable. The knowledge of the serviceman was great.

They weren't able to tune my furnace because it wasn't a kind that they had expertise in. But the serviceman and the person setting up teh visit were Extremely hepful and very nice. Will use them in the future for otehr needs

Having used this company twice in the past -six and nine years ago (very responsive and reasonable at that time) - to jump start our 29 year old A/C system, we thought of them first when it came time to think about replacement . Office contact was very cordial, and a date for the estimate was scheduled. As it happened, we were in the middle of a four day heat wave when the appointment date arrived, and despite this we revived a call from the office not to reschedule but to let us know a time window when the owner himself would come to do the estimate, and received two more update calls when the owner was delayed. His review of present system was very thorough, and he pointed out some ways we might save on new system reusing some elements of the old system. After about ten days we did receive the estimate. It was higher than we hoped and more than we could commit to at the time, but in line with what we figured a top-of-the-line unit and installation would cost. Swampscott Refrigeration seems like a solid, family-style, no BS company that I hope to be able to use in the future.

My husband and I purchased a home in the winter and the inspector was unable to check the AC unit since it was too cold out. Once it got warm we wanted to have it looked at before we turned it on. I found the coupon for Swampscott Refrigeration. I scheduled an appoinment and due to a miscommunication my husband wasn't home when they came by. They were very understanding and rescheduled for a couple days later. The tech came and looked at our external and internal units. He also topped off the freon in the system. The next day there was a weird burning smell in the house. Then the AC started blowing hot air. We called and they came back out. They apparently overfilled the freon tank. They fixed the problem and it has been running smooth ever since. Small hassle, but we were pleased with the service.

The process went well in an efficient and professional one-day job, on the date given in the estimate. Ever since the system has performed flawlessly and kept us cool and comfortable during its first real test -- a prolonged heat spell during the first month and half after its installation. My only complaint throughout the entire process concerned a partial cleanup of the basement where wood chips from drilling through joists remained. My electric bills since the installation have verified what I had be told about the efficiency of the system: It is remarkably inexpensive to run.

We finally decided to have central air put in this Summer after living with 5 window units for the past few years. I first received a quote from someone who had done work in our neighborhood recently but their review on Angie's list scared me off (quote was $8000 for 2 ton unit feeding 2nd floor bedrooms only). Then got a quote from the HVAC company that my GC uses. His quote was $10,000 for the 2nd floor only and $12,000 for the additional venting to the first floor. I happened to speak to a friend about wanting to put in AC and they informed me they had just used Swampscott Refrigeration and were very happy. I looked at reviews on Angie's List and was pleased with their track record. Jim the owner came by and was the only one who measured each room (both floors) and looked in the attic where the coil would go in. He took his time and answered all of my questions. Figured out access to the 1st floor via two of our least used closets and gave me a quote for the full job one week later - $8500. There was a bit of a delay in starting as we were in the midst of back to back heat waves in July when I put down my deposit. When our turn came up, His vent guy showed up and got to work. He was meticulous and incredibly careful to not leave any mess behind. We have cats and there were no issues with any of them getting into the attic due to doors left open. He somehow was able to get access to the entire first floor by using up space in the guest room closet and the smallest little part of my son's already small closet. I was floored with his attention to detail and how well everything came together. When it came time to put the compressor outside, Jim came by to check the location and wasn't happy with the plan to put the machine on packed dirt. He had his guys pick up rocks to make for a more permanent and level foundation at no additional cost to me even with the added time and expense of the materials for him. A few days later (electric, etc) and we had central air! I have since called Swampscott with questions that most first-time central air owners might have and they were courteous on the phone and very knowledgeable. They knew my name as soon as I mentioned our address each and every time I called - very impressive. I have recommended them to anyone who would listen since our install date. Very happy with every aspect of the work.

Swampscott refrigeration provided us with multiple estimates for a ductless A/C system. They came out to look at the house on several occasions and were very helpful in finding times that worked with our schedule. Although they provided multiple estimates, we had closed in on a final configuration and requested one last estimate to finalize the project. We were told they would send it to us but it didn't come. After about a week, I called and asked for it, they claimed they would talk it over with their office and send it shortly. The last estimate never came, and we ended us buying window units to help during the heat wave rather than calling back again and waiting to schedule a date. They have never called back.
