About us
617-719-4200 Alexis Home Remodeling started few years after the purchase of my first home in Boston back in 1992. This triple decker built in 1906 needed more than just a paint job, it needed reliable, honest and motivated professionals. Many hours of waiting for call backs made me think I could do a better job at it. That's why I treat everyone of my customers as I would have want these no show contractors treat me with the respect and professionalism I deserved. Since 1996, Alexis Home Remodeling has walked home owners from the remodeling concept to the finish product. We are fully licensed and insured.
It went very well! I got a very quick response and he came over same-day to do the work! I would hire again.

My entire condo association was extremely pleased with the quality of work and the price for re-building the back porch. Unlike any other contractor I have ever worked with, the owner of Alexis Home Remodeling (Edian) was on-site every day. He and his team came every consecutive workday until the project was done. That job was two years ago. By unanimous consent of the condo association, we hired Alexis again to replace all the flooring on our front porch. Again, they did a great job. In the time between these two projects, one of the condo members hired Alexis individually to gut and rebuild the bathroom in his unit. It came out beautiful. All three projects actually came in on time and on budget. I highly recommend Alexis Home Remodeling.

We had a fantastic job done by Edian Langa and his crew of Alexis Remodeling. Back in spring 2017, we came out to our back porches and found that over winter, the center post had rotted at one of the splices, right between 1st and 2nd floor decks and the 2nd and 3rd floor decks were badly sagging, like a hammock. I put in a couple posts to shore things up and keep them from further dropping. We had a few contractors take a look over the next couple months and give quotes. One said $80,000, another said $65,000, and another said $50,000. The very high estimates were, while shocking, not that unreasonable because we're on a hill and from the front of the house to the back, we drop 2 whole floors, about 18 feet. So it's about 50 feet from ground level at the back up to the roof of the 3rd floor deck. Also there wasn't really any way to get a bucket machine back there to make pulling the porch apart safer. And there were a couple trees back there too close to the porches. Edian looked at it as well and, initially, looking up at it from the ground, gave a quote of $35,000-$40,000, but as we walked up the stairs for a closer look at each deck, he withdrew his quote and said he wouldn't want to give a quote without seeing some plans from a structural engineer. He gave me a name of someone he'd worked with. We dithered for a while about what to do, and finally decided to have the plans done by the guy that Edian had recommended. We liked the guy because he agreed to put together some plans that would allow us to keep the first floor deck which was in mostly decent shape as well as the outer posts, which would save us some money and to keep the roof over the third floor deck (which extended from the main roof). The plans came back and they were a little complicated and we just didn't go much further from that. One other thing we looked into was how much it would cost to just tear down all but the first floor deck. We got an estimate of I think $8,000 for that from a demolition company. Zoning was an issue and we were worried if we removed the porches we'd lose the right to rebuild them as-is, given that setback requirements (distance from neighbor's property line to our building structure) were certainly much different than when our home was built in 1914. Also we'd been told at the Boston Building Dept that our three-decker home was in a neighborhood that was zoned for 1- and 2-family homes and as such anything we would do to it would be automatically denied and have to go through the Appeals Board. Money overall was also an issue, because, before discovering the failing porches, our plan was to replace our leaking tar and gravel roof. We had enough in a home equity line to do one or the other, but not quite for both the roof and the porches. And since the roof extended over and tied into the porch posts, we couldn't really do one without getting involved with the other. So we were in a quandary and ended up doing nothing for actually another year. Porches were worrisome, but stayed put. Roof continued leaking and we put buckets out. Then one day, I believe it was July, in 2018, we came home to a constable-served citation from Boston Building Dept taped to the door saying we'd done some work without a permit and needed to get one within 30 days. So, things had come to a head. Since we still had the plans that Edian's structural engineer had drawn up in summer 2017, I gave Edian a call and explained the situation. He remembered our porches. He let me track him down at the job he was working on and interrupt him to look at the engineer's plans as well as the citation. He called his lead carpenter, Fernando, over to have a look as well, said, "we've got to help her out with this," and they both conferred and Edian committed then to help us make our 30-day deadline with the city. I made myself as available to him as I could but he pretty much took the lead in dealing with the city, which was a super relief to us. Right off the bat, I knew I was dealing with a guy who was going to help us get through what had become a really difficult situation. He worked up a contract and we got our permit before the deadline, so the city was off our backs. He estimated the job at $55,000 and thought he could start on it in early October 2018. He did start the job then and worked on it continuously right to the finish, that is, wasn't hopping off to other jobs. No, Edian himself was there working with his crew every day. That's a good contractor to have, on the job himself every day. And, this was a very difficult, pain-in-the-butt job to pull off -- up and down the hill with every piece of lumber, pressure treated 6x6's, all the debris, etc. Turned out we needed to replace the outer posts as well as the center post, so the final cost went up to $58,000, but we pretty much expected that would happen and it wasn't a huge extra amount. Edian projected the job would take about 7 weeks and that's just about when he finished up, about the 3rd week of November 2018. Now, back to the roof, which as noted earlier, does extend over the 3rd floor porch. Miraculously, Edian managed to get his roofing subcontractor, to squeeze us in on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It had snowed just a few days earlier that week, but Saturday turned out to be just a bit above 40 degrees and the roofers said they could do the job. In one day, starting at 7:00am and finishing at 4:30pm, Edian's roofers, about 15 or so guys, tore off our whole flat roof, which was nasty coal tar pitch and gravel, replaced some roof decking that was rotted, and reroofed it all with a new rubber roof, aluminum flashing, and sealed the various roof penetrations. Job well done! Reasonable price too for the roof -- $18,000. (We managed to scrape up the money.) We really lucked out hiring Alexis Remodeling for our jobs. Edian is a great guy and has very good people working for him. We're really thankful to him for all his help. Bravo!
We received 3 different estimates for the work that needed to be done. Edian's estimate was by far the most comprehensive. He was very clear about possible circumstances that might lead to more work needing to done than expected. We are so happy that we chose him to do the work on our house. He was extremely responsive to any and all questions. He was always happy to fully explain exactly what was going on as the project progressed. He was very reliable and always on time. He worked with a structural engineer to make sure the work was exactly right. We are very happy with the final product and would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs either exterior or interior work done on their home.
Description of Work: Due to years of water damage the exterior of our home required extensive work including the placement of support beams to fix a failing cantilever, replacement of siding, replacement of gutters, roof repair, and interior work including drywall.

Edian and his team did a fantastic job of renovating our bathroom. We replaced everything, so there was a lot to coordinate, but Edian really oversaw everything and advised us all the way through. He helped us make good decisions and purchases. He helped us identify where to save money and where to spend for quality, in terms of the hardware, vanity, toilet, etc. The contract work itself was top-notch. He brought in the best possible people to do the electrical and plumbing work and everything turned out really well. Edian really knows what he's doing. He has years of experience and has the kinds of connections that helps everything go smoothly. Plus he's a great guy - very easy to work with. We haven't finished accessorizing it yet, but the photo gives you an idea. Thumbs up to Edian and Alexis Remodeling! I highly recommend them, not only for renovations like this, but other projects, too, like deck work. He also replaced all of our decks. Quality work done fast.

Edian and his team are great. He is a great communicator and responsive. The work was completed as discussed. We will continue to utilize Alexis Remodeling for jobs big and small.
The job went very well. Alexis and crew are very professional, courteous and smart. Edian has an excellent eye for design, made great suggestions and put together features of the addition to complement the rest of my 85-year-old house.
Description of Work: Alexis Remodeling put a 225-sf addition onto my house, with new roof to meet the existing hip roof, shear walls, three new windows, walls, moldings, doors, baseboards, flooring, new cellar stairs, insulation, shelves, half bath with fixtures, and small closet. In addition the kitchen was expanded with new walls and ceilings and some new flooring, doors, two small closets were created. The full bathroom was also refurbished with a new toilet, tile replacing the old tub surround, altered the wall to install a tub panel; installed new wainscoting, baseboards and flooring. In addition, he oversaw a major electrical upgrade and helped facilitate the installation of four mini-split air conditioning units. Plumbing was also needed for a new dishwasher location and the half bath, which Alexis oversaw. The exterior work included new cedar siding, roof, soffits, vents, fascia boards and some gutters and a new exterior door and screen. New interior painting and exterior finishing of the siding and painting all the soffits/fascia boards.
Very well. Edian was very responsive and reliable. He really seemed to want to do a good job and I believe he did. Highly recommended.

Alexis Home Remodeling came to assess the situation, made a quote and contract and we settled on times. He was punctual, over communicated, did what he said he would and all the work is exceptional. I will be hiring him again for a few more projects because when you find someone good you hire them again and again.
Description of Work: I had a poor contractor before whose work I needed fixed. I had holes leading to the exterior (living room, office, living room). I also had big holes in walls from clumsily executed drywall or plumbing on the hallway and living room. Two more very large holes in the kitchen and bedroom. In the kitchen the there was further damage applied to support beams that needed to be re-supported.

Very well. No problems, prompt, responsive, fair.
Description of Work: Needed to help plumbers excavate pipes that were buried in hard to reach places behind dishwasher in the walk. He also called our attention to problematic/dangerous wiring and had an electrician fix it.
I wish that there was an A+ option as I would give Edian an A+ in all categories. From the beginning to the end of the job, I was constantly aware of how lucky I was to have found him. He was responsive from our first phone contact and quickly scheduled a time to come and look at the job. He walked me through what he would need to do and got me an estimate within a day. And, as I requested, he gave me prices for 2 different options. When one of the projects was too high for my budget, he worked with me to get it to a price that I could accept and still get the end result that I wanted. Having worked with contractors in the past, my biggest concern was the time frame that the work would be completed in. In the past, contractors have started jobs and then disappeared for weeks at a time. I voiced this concern to Edian and he assured me that he only did one job at a time and he would be here every day until the work was finished. And he was. And each day when he left, everything was so clean I almost didn't know he had been there. I am very critical and can see the smallest flaw and I was pleasantly surprised at Edian's attention to detail and perfection. He also kept me fully informed of any issues that might affect the outcome of the job. I would not hesitate to hire Edian again for any type of home repair or remolding. I was impressed with his skills and his knowledge and most importantly, his work ethic.

I really enjoyed working with Edian. He had an estimate a week or so after we met. He asked good questions because he really wanted to give me what I wanted. He worked quickly - one day each for each project over 3 work days. He maintains good communication and asks questions as issues come up. His work is excellent quality. I was really impressed by the interior window work that he did - it was a tough job! His costs are fair. Angie's List help me find a good contractor I'm sure I'll use again.

Description of Work: replaced severely worn out porch boards with new mahogany planks
Edian and his team were excellent. Edian was very responsive from the beginning. We spoke frequently and he was happy to answer any questions I had. He also checked in with me regularly to make sure we were ok with everything. He and his team started the project punctually, came early each day and worked very hard while they were here, and finished the project on time. They stayed within the budget, and the overall quality of the project was unbeatable. We are a building with 6 different condo owners, each with their own expectations, and he left everyone happy. Perhaps most importantly, Edian consistently displayed a determination to do things thoroughly and properly, even if it meant extra trips to pick up supplies, or putting extra hours in to solve unexpected problem. We will definitely use Edian and his team for future projects, and I recommend him without hesitation.
Description of Work: Edian removed and rebuilt a triple-decker porch on the back of our building, which included a ground floor addition (an enclosed room).
