Description of Work: These guys were incredible, so I have no idea what others are talking about in their critical commentary. Richard came out to quote the job years ago - the first time I hired his crew. We were trying to install a great looking high endurance vinyl fence around the perimeter of the yard, roughly a 70ish foot section. It looked incredible, installation was fast and professional, they completely cleaned up all debris and took great care to not bother the neighbors. About one year later, I called Tony's fence again to come out for a much larger job. years ago, a father/son team had put in some fencing on the other side of my property and it was really cheap grade wood from Home Depot - warping, splintering, and two of the posts were never even set in concrete and so were tipping over. What I wanted to do at that point was completely close in the yard for the dogs, so this involved not only replacing that entire fence area but also putting in a whole new section of vinyl fencing with a gate along the driveway in an unusual spot as well as sealing in one space between the garage and the outer fence that had previously been installed. Vinyl fencing is expensive, but it looks excellent and I was very worried about both price and installation around the driveway in particular. These guys came up with an elegant solution and in fact wound up delivering more quality and value than I'd planned for from the get-go. In the final installation, I wound up spending circa 8k (don't remember exactly) and this included: - an entirely new wood fence around the back side of the house including a new gated entry, heavy duty posts (large diameter) and extensive precision cuts on the verticals to make it look perfect. - an entirely custom fit vinyl fence enclosure with a nice gated entry on the front by the driveway, including tedious concrete setting in the asphalt driveway, along with a small section of fencing to seal in far corner of backyard. - they even did a small free custom fit of matching fencing to seal in a gap between one big tree and a neighbor to make sure that the dogs couldn't get out. Please note: these guys don't show up with pre-fab 6ft fencing sections, they actually build the entire fence. They did the first job in warm weather, and they did the other in freezing weather, absolutely freezing. They promised to get the jobs done and did them completely on time. I will absolutely hire them again when I need fencing work done. The prices are incredibly competitive and they take real pride in the work that they deliver.

They were very prompt and reliable. Showed up for the quote on time. Came in with a quote that was $600 less than Reliable. The end product is very, very nice-looking.
Description of Work: We used the Hyde Park branch, and they were great. Installed a small, high quality, 5 foot cedar fence in front of our house.

The first time they came out was for an estimate, about a week later they came back out and completed the job. I thought they did a good job and they were even able to match to existing wood. They were polite and really did a good overall job.

If you're willing to hassle with them, they are worth it. It was hard to get an estimate. I was suppose to get quotes on 3 styles, but I had to wait for a month to get 1 estimate. The final job was done well, even thought the measurements were a little off. They were careful with the installation, and they were careful about moving plants. I had to push them to special order a gate size so the walkway didn't have to be altered.

We are happy with the fence for the most part. It seems well-made and is nicely stained. I don't like the locking mechanism on the gate and was never asked about options, so not sure if there is a standard, or if there were other options and I just wasn't offered them. The fence was also delivered within the four-six weeks time period they said they would deliver it. My biggest problem with this company was its lack of communication with me following the initial visit for the assessment, even after I had several times asked to be told when they would be arriving to install the fence. We have several projects happening this summer and had some work to do in the yard before they came, so I really needed to know when they were coming. I had to keep calling to get a date, even after they told me they would call me once they knew when they were coming. Also, on the first day, they only did half the job, but they didn't leave a message that they were coming back next day. Very frustrating.

Overall a botched execution by Tony's Fence Company. This job was small, but a bit complicated because of the location of a tree root and some footings for the garage. While the fence section was to be 8 foot and match the fence post location on the other side of the driveway, they made a 6 foot section instead. Richard told me he shortened the fence to "avoid the hedge;" however, I had told him they could remove some hedge to get the fence in. Richard's excuse: "We are not landscapers." I wish he had just told me--I would have removed the plants. Second, they put a cut-out on the bottom of the fence to fit around a tree root so the fence would not rest on top of the root. This was not measured correctly and the fence ended up on top of the root anyway, now with a misaligned cut out. This made the gate start 8 inches off the ground. It looks a little ridiculous. Third, the paint job was sloppy, and some of the grooves in the shiplap were not coated at all.

Description of Work: Tony and Co. replaced 2 old (smaller) fences on either side of my 1888 Victorian house with a similar looking cedar fence. However, the looks were only in style. The fence that they built for us is beautiful. They stained it to match the color of our house perfectly, they removed the old fences, they were prompt, and Tony followed up w/ me to ask if I liked the work! Both fences also had doors on them. Tony didn't chince on the hardware either. I got their name from a neighbor who's fence I have always admired. If you don't call them, it is your loss. However don't panic when you hear the birds in the background (I have to admit, it's a little unnerving!).

GREAT COMPANY INSTALLS A QUALITY FENCE. SLIGHTLY EXPENSIVE, BUT PROBABLY WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY IN THE QUALITY OF THE FENCING (I'LL KNOW MORE IN FIVE YEARS). THE DESIGN CONSULTANT, WHILE VERY NICE, TOOK A DAY OR TWO TO RETURN PHONE CALLS.

QUOTED US $5,374 FOR A 100 FOOT LONG, 6 FOOT HIGH BOARD and LATTICE FENCE. THE REPRESENTATIVE RESCHEDULED OUR APPOINTMENT FOR ONE WITH VERY SHORT NOTICE AND THEN WAS LATE. HE WAS NOT VERY PERSONABLE, SEEMED BORED, AND WAS VAGUE WHEN ANSWERING SOME OF OUR QUESTIONS. THE QUOTE WAS 20-25% HIGHER THAN 2 OTHER COMPANIES WE SPOKE WITH AND THEIR WARRANTY WAS NOT AS GOOD AS ANOTHER FIRM'S WARRANTY.

HE CALLED AND SAID HE WAS RUNNING LATE, AND AGREED TO MEET LATER THAT DAY. HE CALLED AGAIN AND SAID HE HAD TO RESCHEDULE. WE RESCHEDULED FOR ANOTHER DAY. THIS TIME HE DIDN'T SHOW UP, AND DIDN'T CALL. I WASTED APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS WAITING FOR THESE GUYS ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS. NOT GOOD.
Description of Work: I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE AND SCHEDULED IT WITH NO PROBLEMS, BUT HE DIDN'T SHOW UP.
