I was impressed with Viola's professionalism throughout the entire process, from estimate through follow-through. Our new roof looks great. We had two small issues during the install: a crack in the wall plaster on a room under the roof, and a broken storm window. Both were resolved quickly, and Viola even replaced another broken storm window that was not their responsibility, gratis. I would recommend Viola without reservation to anyone looking to have their roof replaced.

These guys are extremely professional, serious about customer service and do great quality work. I had them redo the entire exterior of my home; strip the roof and siding down the bare sheathing, new roof, new siding, new gutters and repair all the fascia. They stripped 3 layers of old roof off and replaced it then stripped half the siding off the house in the first DAY they were there. Everyone in the neighborhood was asking who these guys were and what their phone number was they were so impressed. There were a couple little things here and there that needed to be tweaked and cleaned up since it was such a big job and so much was changed. Every time I reached out to them I got a response back in less than 12 hours and someone was there fixing it within a day or two. They’re incredibly courteous, polite and value their customers. Hire these guys.

Mr. Brian O'Neill arrived early and was completely prepared, professional, fast, and a very nice person with whom to work. And, this was on a day when it was 100+ degrees in the sun! Brain showed us the new product for our gutters and I could see the damaged old product, as he removed it. I could also see the size and the quantity of the various nests, which had burrowed in and were causing our problems. We never imagined or considered this, as the gutters were also relatively new. It is not news to any homeowner that to try to get work done on your home in the summertime is almost impossible. Personally, I find it even more insulting that many vendors will not even call or email to tell you that they are too busy to look at your project. Not Viola Roofing and Contracting. Prompt, courteous, professional follow up and top notch service at a very reasonable price. As I said, you just can't beat it! If you have any issues with your roof or gutter, just call Viola. You will be very pleased that you did. For my family and me, we are so very glad that we did. We will certainly call Viola with any future needs. Special thanks to Mr. Brian O'Neill. Sincerely, Mrs. Linda A. Sampieri
Description of Work: We had some leaks in our relatively new roof. I contacted Viola Roofing & Contracting, because of their over 300+ A reviews on Angie's List. Hard to beat that! Mr. Brian O'Neill immediately followed up and arranged to come out to take a look. Turns out the roof repairs were minor, left from a previous company. However, our gutters were very clogged with bees and birds nests. Thus, water was backing up into our house. Who knew? Mr. O'Neill sent us a completely appropriate, detailed invoice to correct our gutter problem and to do the small repairs on our roof. We scheduled an appointment.

Brian provided the same assessment that another roofing company did. He was professional and listened to my concerns. In addition to his repair suggestions I wanted to add ventilation to part of the roof that had none. I asked him to order particular vents that I had researched. He said he would look into my choice to understand if there would be any problems. The vents had to be ordered 3 times because of an issue with the distributor. Each time Brian kept in touch and ultimately the vents were delivered to my house. Brian didn't do the install but, the workers that arrived were courteous and Brian arrived at the end. It is now 3 months after the installation and repairs. There are no signs of leakage from inside the attic. Good job. Other things to note: 1) Viola accepted a "small" job that some other roofers in the area weren't willing to consider. Most companies were only interested in a complete re-roofing project. 2) Another roofer kept me waiting for "next month" for over a year. Viola's quote was $100 less and we got the job done much sooner - obviously.

Viola's team was quick and professional. Service was completed in one day's time. No problems since they came. Only con was the craftsmanship wasn't top notch. Some screws sticking out and the removal of the old gutter left some beat up spots on the wood around it which wasn't repaired or cleaned up.

They came by promptly to provide an estimate. I agreed to the price and they did an excellent job in replacing the shingles when I was at work. Great job...very professional.
Description of Work: We had a few shingles that had blown off during the winter.
I had to write a review of Viola even though we did not use them because I was so pleased with the process. I contacted Viola to repair the aluminum gutters on my slate hip roof that were damaged by snow and ice. Brian O'Neill called me back right away and arranged to see my house after I described the work we needed done. After viewing the work, he told me he would put a quote together but strongly recommended that we not hire him to do the job, because we would probably see the same damage occur. He explained to me that aluminum gutters and slate roofs do not match up well. He gave me the contact information for someone who does copper gutter work and still took the time to put together a quote for me. I think in a world where making the next buck is so important, it's rare to find someone who will take the time to explain the RIGHT way to do a job, even if it means that they won't make any money off of it. Brian took a lot of time out of his day to see my property, talk to me on the phone, put together a quote, and recommend someone else for the project who is a copper specialist. This kind of honesty and integrity are hard to come by, and I think my experience with Viola speaks volumes for the kind of organization they run.

In 2015, he was initially uninterested due to extreme business, as were other roofers. Once start date was set for 2016, he provided a quote quickly and was responsive in answering all of my questions. The project went as predicted by Viola and any questions I asked were answered quickly. Damage & debris left behind were minimal.

Can't say enough positive things about the job. The crew showed up at precisely 7 a.m., and worked into the early evening to complete the job in one day. The next day, I noticed some areas around the dormers that weren't flashed as well as I would have liked, and they came back within hours and taped up some seams.

Very satisfied. I give top marks to Brian on responsiveness throughout the entire process: original reply to my request, appointment to view roof, getting the estimate, answering questions about the estimate, and then finally scheduling the job. In all cases, he got back to me promptly. So from start to finish, it took about 3 weeks without any hassle - which was a relief because I spent over a year trying to find somebody. His bid was reasonable and he did the entire job in one day. The shingle and new gutter/downspouts look great. Best of all the crew did an awesome job cleaning up - absolutely no debris left behind and everything swept clean.

We had a fantastic experience with Viola. They were punctual, incredibly professional and very fairly priced. We were very stressed about this project because it involved a lot of interior work to replace skylights that were no longer made in the same size. The subcontractors who did the interior work were amazing (Coutu painting). They worked long days to try and get the interior work done as quickly as possible. The end result was actually better than we every expected. We would definitely use this company again for roofing or other construction projects.

They came right out for the quote and promptly provided pricing and samples. We had the work scheduled a few weeks out but started getting leaks after a bad rain storm. We called and they rescheduled us to the next day. The team came out and completed the job same day. Some of our window screens were damaged and they came back and fixed them within a few days. Clean up was great. They were a pleasure to work with.

This crew of six (yes, six!) men just completed a roof replacement on my 2,500 square foot colonial home with a 3 car garage in literally 12 hours, (most of one day and a few hours the following morning)! I have never seen anything like it, this is a well oiled machine. These guys even cleaned up very well! The roof looks spectacular and makes the house look brand new! I received at least four quotes for my roof replacement and spent a good amount of time researching the right company to choose. I can confidentially say that I made the right choice. The price was fair and completely in line with other bids. The quote was the exact same number that I paid in the end which was a relief. A roof is big investment for a lot of people but it will last 20-30 years with the right shingles and installation. I have literally zero complaints about this company and crew and I know they would come back in a heartbeat if I had any issues at all. Helpful tips... I chose to work from home during the two days of the roof replacement because I did not want the dog to go crazy in his crate all day from the noise. The dog slept through the noise but if you have the option, I strongly suggest that you leave your home. It's a very loud process and you might start to think that the guys are going to come crashing through the roof so no need to worry! It is important to remove all the items on the walls so don't forget to do this! Also, I was worried that the ceiling fixtures might come crashing down but they did not! PHEW! Start with Viola and end with Viola. It is a win-win! Thanks guys!

Mike was very easy to work with. I called and left a message. He responded quickly and scheduled time to come look at the roof. He came to the house at the schedule time. After the visit, he asked me a few questions about what I wanted done and then he emailed me a proposal the next day. I had asked for quotes from two other roofers and Viola had a quote to me before I was able to talk to the other two. Mike and I agreed to the service and price - I got a $100 off for an Angie's list coupon and in addition to the roofing work I asked if he could fix a down spout on the front of the house. I singed the proposal and sent in the deposit and got an email back from him confirming that he had received both. He said they were scheduled out 6 weeks. 4 weeks later he called and said the could the roof that week and materials would be dropped off at the house the day before the work was to be done. Materials were dropped off as indicated. A group of workers showed up the next morning promptly. The finished work looked great and the clean up was almost better. Have not found a nail or old shingle anywhere in the yard. Could not be happier.

November 6, 2015 Let me start by saying that Viola Roofing would probably be a perfect choice for a general contractor who wants a competent roofer. Viola did a fine job ripping off my two layers of existing shingles and putting on the new roof. The crew was friendly and efficient. I am confident that my roof is waterproof and ready for the coming winter. A+ The reason I didn't give these guys straight As, however, is because there lacked a sense of finesse that an A deserves. Let me elaborate. Last summer I knew I would need a new roof in a few years or so. I really wanted a gorgeous fake slate roof by DaVinci Roofscapes , so I started to save for that day, and I started to research and interview roofers. I never imagined at the time that we'd have a horrific winter in Boston (2015). An ice d*** sped up my timeline. This year, I contacted Viola and Ranch roofing again (out of 5 or 6 from my search last year), but this time for estimates for a regular GAF roof. (This will always bum me out, but I just couldn't afford the fancy roof yet, and the roof needed replacing now.) I really liked Brian with Viola Roofing and Ryan with Ranch Roofing. They were charging about the same for the various items that I wanted to have done, though Ranch was about a grand cheaper. I ended up using Viola because Ryan was unresponsive for a couple of weeks, and I was running out of time with other things going on in my life. I just wanted to get started. Like I said, I really liked Brian. We walked around my house as he took notes on the different things I wanted to have done (see list above), but after I sent my first deposit check, he dropped out of the picture entirely. It was clear that the foreman, Gleason, was really sharp and intelligent. I could tell that he is a natural leader and was the hardest working guy on the crew (of about 10 - 12). What frustrated me was that he really was more about getting the roof done on time than he was about making my house beautiful. (I don't think he really knew what Brian promised, either.) They ripped off my original decorative molding and replaced it with crap. It was a strip of plastic that got covered up by the gutters. It was like he didn't understand what decorative molding is for. That kind of p***** me off, but I shrugged it off because I just didn't have the energy to fight for it. Also, the siding shingles that they used were not really all that great quality; though, Gleason did a good job replacing them. The siding does look better. (Well, all the shingles except the top one. I'm going to need to figure something out there.) After they were done, Mike was responsive to my complaints about black fingerprints all over my new white gutters and the fact that they didn't put strips on the tarp on my garage the first time around. One heavy wind would have ripped that tarp right off! Mike was right on it. The next day he sent some guys out to clean the fingerprints and secure the tarp. He left me some cleaner for the fingerprints inside my house on my skylights, too. Since they really don't do interior trim work and only trimmed my skylights as a favor, I wasn't expecting a lot from the carpenters they sent out, and I didn't get a lot (those guys are not craftsmen, lol), but it was good for my purposes, and I'm happy enough with the final product. My final complaint is that the Viola crew stained my front porch roof. They dropped something that looks like oil on the white shingles. The stain is about 10 - 12 inches in diameter. I see it every time I look out my bedroom window, and it drives me nuts! Mike said that he will send someone out to replace the couple of tiles for me, and I believe he will. I have just had some other things come up in my life just recently that forced me to put that on the back burner. I hope to contact Mike again after Thanksgiving to replace those damaged tiles. So, all and all, these guys are great. Seriously. I wouldn't call them artisans like you see when you go to rich neighborhoods and see the work done on big fancy homes (always makes me wistful), but they are solid. Actually, maybe the would be perfect if they had a proper general contractor on site overseeing the project, but like I said, I didn't have a general contractor, and Brian was missing. Anyway, I would recommend them to anyone just looking for a good roof job. Leave the other stuff to a carpenter.
Description of Work: Main Roof $6,200 Skylights (one brand new, two replacements) and interior trim $4,500 Gutters around entire house, fascia on south side and north sides (40 linear feet), restore/replace decorative trim $3,200 Tarp on garage $500 solar roof vent/fan $300

Viola did an excellent job. We have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend them in a heart beat. We needed to have solar panels removed and reinstalled so Viola's work had to be coordinated with Solar City's scheduled removal and reinstall. Viola had been responsive to requests beforehand to drop off bigger asphalt roof tile samples. Vola came when scheduled. Their crew was very professional. The work they did was excellent. They cleaned up well. The dumpster came the day before and was picked up the day after -- not sitting in the driveway for days. We did have a problem after the work was completed and paid for. They came out within in a few hours of the call to fix the issue. They felt so bad there was an issue, that they helped sweep the attic floor which was a big help! They also volunteered to fix an extra piece of trim above the garage door, and came out exactly when they promised. We had gone out for a few bids and their price was competitive. All in all, I recommend them. Viola has a lot of integrity, takes pride in doing a top-notch job and will be there for you if there is an issue.
Description of Work: Viola, removed the old roof, replaced roof, replaced a few roof boards, replaced gutters and downspouts, replaced.trim.
