We considered many other installers and were very happy we selected Sudbury Cedar Fence Co. We had a GREAT experience. Paul was very helpful, patient, and responsive as we navigated our way through obtaining Historic District approval. He came out multiple times to discuss our plans and options to comply with Historic District requests and our needs. The crew that installed the fence was professional, friendly, and patiently answered questions we had during the installation. Without asking, they put down tarps when digging the post holes which helped protect the new grass we had just planted. Our yard slopes and they did an excellent job to have the fence follow the contour of the land. We love and use the yard much more since having the fence installed.

Paul was awesome to work with and the team who installed started early, were fast, wouldn't quit until the job was done and communicated well! Recommended without reservation! In a word: AWESOME!

Excellent. I would recommend this company to anyone needing a fence. When I called I spoke with the owner Paul Brown. He came out and gave me the estimate. We agreed the work would start 3 weeks after the initial meeting. On the day of assembly Paul’s men came out and started putting up the fence. I have never seen such hard considerate workers! The foreman Scott was very sympathetic about our concern regarding placement of the fence as it abuts my neighbors fence. We had some old hemlocks and rhodies that we did not want to cut down. They were able to place the fence in a way so we did not have to cut down the trees. It is more beautiful than we imagined. !!! Very high quality fence and workers. In fact my contractor was so impressed he asked me for Paul’s card.

They came in with a good quote, very professional, and did a great job. The workers were very professional, cleaned up, and very efficient.

They were outstanding. They even sent us a Christmas card. They came in here. They did the work and they did it well. They did it steadily. I have no complaints. They were nothing but the best. I don't remember how much we spent. It was probably several thousand dollars. My husband paid the bill on that one. I didn't pay attention to it. He was the one that wanted the fence. They knew what they were doing. They did what they were supposed to do. They didn't waste time, but they were perfectly friendly and nice. They were just efficient. They did what they said they were going to do and they did it well. I have absolutely nothing but positive to say about them and my husband feels the same way too. They were efficient. They did the work. They did it well. They did what they were supposed to do. They were friendly about it. They finished on time. They were good in every sense of the word. I just have nothing but good things to say about them. The work turned out exactly what we thought it would be. We would use them if necessary in the future.

This is a really great company. Paul came and estimated the job promptly and his wonderful worker, George, came exactly when Paul had estimated the work would be done. The fence looks great, and they both were easy and delightful to work with. When they came to put up the fence Paul told me that one piece of wood had not been stained and that they would touch it up early next week. His staining person came the next day (a Sunday no less) and finished the work.

We had a good experience with Sudbury Cedar Fence company. When they came out to give us a quote they suggested a cheaper alternative (using yard-guard fencing in the woods) that saved us about 40% relative to other fencing options. The performed the installation in a timely fashion, with good workmanship and quality materials.

The work involved replacement existing fence. I quoted 3 different companies. Sudbury fence provided straightforward recommendations, presented me with several options and promptly quoted. It took a little while to schedule the actual installation, but it was a busy time of the year. Once they gave me a date, they showed up on time and completed the fence promptly. They removed all debris and took a great care not to damage any of my plants which I was very worried about. The new fence is simply beautiful and I am extremely happy with the look. Sudbury fence is not cheap, but it is well worth the price. I would highly recommend them and would use them on any other fence project.

Paul and Sudbury Cedar are simply the best. We've used them twice, in two different houses, and been completely satisfied in every way. The estimate is always very competitive and they do wonderful work.

Paul was extremely responsive with my original request for quote. He was price competitive (within $200 of my other two bids) and given all the great feedback here on Angie's List, pushed him over the top for me. With something as important as your home, I tend to put a lot of weight on other customer's feedback. If someone is the rated the best, I will often pay a premium for a better product. Sudbury Cedar was not the cheapest, but they were the most forthcoming, honest, and straightforward company I met with. If you always go with the low bid, I guarantee you'll always have a problem with something. Materials are what they are, but the difference comes in the style and professionalism with which they're installed.

Paul and his team are amazing! From the first phone call to our discussion after it was installed, the team made sure to give me the right answers, the best product and the respect to keep me informed at every step of the project. The team was on time, efficient and interested in doing it right! I wish we had more yard to fence simply so I could use these guys again!

It went very well. Other than it being kind of expensive, they did a really good job. I was moving into a new home and I needed the fence installed before I moved in because of dogs. They worked very hard to get that done in time. They also did a really good job of dog proofing the fence so my dogs can't get away.

For the past 16 years, Paul Brown and his team at Sudbury Cedar have maintained a fence that was here when I bought the house. Each year I have them come out and align a gate, replace a post or even at times sections of the fence. His advice is always to help me know where I should spend money and where I can save money. By working with him consistently, I have extended the lifetime of this fence and only replaced what I needed to. It looks great and I don't spend a fortune. His team is completely honest, responsive, responsible and fast. I have recommended them to many friends, and all have had excellent experiences.

They did a great job. They were about half the cost of the other estimate I received. They were quick and professional. The fence looks great. I recommend them highly.

I requested bids from 5 companies to design and install vinyl fencing, including a pergola, in my backyard. Having already researched the various quality of vinyl fencing by visiting home improvement centers, fencing companies, etc., it became clear that there were big differences in the quality and construction of vinyl and I considered this a major investment. I received 3 bids which I considered competitive (one company cancelled its appointment, the other was a no show). Two perfectly reputable fence companies sent me salesmen to discuss the project, Sudbury Fence sent me Paul, who knows more about fences and design than anyone, and who is a complete professional. He helped me enormously make the choice between wood and vinly, gave me the pros and cons of each, discussed design, oversaw and inspected the finished work. Everything was done on time, on budget, and beautifully. Really one of the best contractors I have ever worked with, and I now have a gorgeous fence which has made my backyard a showplace.

Excellent experience. Visited house to take measurements. Had solid suggestions for how to fence in back yard for dogs. Suggestions kept cost down from our original plan. Called in advance to let us know when they would install fence. Built a more expensive fence than we had chosen, but gave it to us at the cost of original quote. Arrived on time. Project took two days. Professional and prompt. Fence looks great and the dogs love it!

They did an excellent job in front of our house. It is a white vinyl fence around 200 feet with three 12 feet gates. Every one in neighborhood told good things about the fence. The owner Paul is very nice and knowledgeable person. His main foreman Scot is also great. The whole job is done in 3 days. Paul is prompt to answer any calls and emails. He gave us a reasonable price and we did not have to think back. I will hire him again.

Earlier we had a 4 foot steel fence and our big dog could go over it easily. I called someone else to do this but they said they would tear out the posts of the old fence which was set in concrete. Then I called Sudbury Cedar and they said that they would make a new post that sits over the old post so that the entire fence need not be replaced. This was convenient and saved a lot of money. It was a long and big fence. The price included a top and bottom railing.

Paul Brown came out and gave the estimate, then came back the next week and went over the fine details with us. He returned calls quickly, was punctual, responsive, professional and helpful. His crew of 4 (who were very pleasant and friendly) came a few weeks later and put the fence up in one day. There were a few glitches: gates were originally done without the scallops although that was written on the estimate (they redid them right away when I noticed), and one section of fencing does not come out from the house at a 90 degree angle due to Paul's measuring error. It's been 2 weeks and it's not yet been fixed, but neither have we paid. (This is the reason for my "B" grade on quality.) Otherwise, the fence looks gorgeous and the price was reasonable. (The other quote we got from Walpole Woodworkers was $12,000)!

In conjunction with our landscape plan, our architect designed a fence on the north and south sides of the property, as well as a fence connecting the house to the garage that had to work with an existing pergola. The fence had to go through an approval process with the Historic District commission of Concord before being built. Paul, the owner of Sudbury Cedar, came to estimate and measure twice (the designs changed once). We had some specific requirements, including matching stylistically a Walpole Woodworkers fence belonging to our neighbors. This involved some custom detailing about which Paul was very accommodating (he is extremely low-key and couldn't be nicer). The estimate came in at approximately 65% of Walpole Woodworkers' costs. The fence was delivered on schedule (approximately one month after estimating based on the construction timetable of our interior renovation) and installed by a great crew led by Paul's foreman, Scotty. The crew was efficient and completed the entire installation in about 8 hours, sending out a separate worker to touch up the paint. I was extremely impressed by the quality and beauty of the fence, and particularly how it enhanced the architecture of the house. Our neighbors - who had the Walpole fence - were also very impressed and immediately asked for Sudbury Cedar's contact information as they were not familiar with his products. I cannot imagine paying such an exponential amount for a Walpole fence. I will concede that their finishing (i.e. paint) is marginally nicer than Sudbury Cedar's. But otherwise you're paying for their big fat marketing catalogs. Go with the local company - you'll be so pleased with the results.

They did a great job. I used Sudbury Cedar a couple of years ago for another house in Concord. Not only did they do a great job with the installation, the fence they installed held up very well. I would definitely recommend them for high-quality fencing work.
