It didn't go. I purchased the service via Angie's List, and was informed that I would be contacted to arrange service date. I was never contacted, so I asked Angie's List to refund the payment, which was done.

The technician did not show up for the originally scheduled appointment. There was zero attempts made to inform us or to reschedule and no explanation was provided. Once the technician did come I was given the estimate and told to call the office to place the order as there was no one in the office on the weekend to do so. Upon calling in to place my order the operator became quickly frustrated when I asked for an explanation of the deposit required. The estimate only provided a price range of the door section required. I was told the technician would contact me to explain. When he did there was no additional information he could offer me as the catalog he worked from only provided ranges. I made the decision to overlook this b/c we had used Precision Door Service for a rebuild approx 3 years ago and the cables are now completely frayed. Since the rebuild price includes a 7 year warranty I wanted to have everything repaired at once to avoid additional costs. I called the office back to complete my order. I was told the technician did not provide enough information to complete the order because he failed to take the model number. They asked me to provide and directed me to a sticker which would be on the door and visible to me. There was no such sticker. Upon calling back a 3rd time to inform them they said there was nothing they could do and informed me I'd have to call the manufacturer directly for the model number. Without even attempting they claimed this specific manufacturer was "the worst" and "they would not help us". I informed them I would be contacting another company to replace the damaged section due to my frustration, but wanted them to replace the frayed cables which are well within their warranty. Precision Door Service has refused to honor the warranty unless I can provide the original paperwork. Their company policy calls for the customer to maintain the paper work and if not provided by the customer the warranty is no good.
Description of Work: I contacted Precision Door Service for an estimate to replace a damaged section of our garage door and replace frayed cables which are under a Precision Door Service warranty.

Randy, the technician, came out to our house to try and repair our garage doors/operators. He was very nice, and he tried to fix our problems so that we would not need to purchase new operators and/or doors. We have a 16' double door and an 8' single door, and both operators were on their last legs. In the end, after several attempts, Randy was unable to fix the problems. We ended up deciding to replace the doors in addition to the operators because the doors were 22 year old wooden doors that were extremely heavy. We also have 3 little children, so I wanted to be sure the doors were safe. Randy provided me with an estimate for the two doors & two operators on a Monday, but he said once we get some other estimates to give him a call back so that we can get the best price possible from Precision. I went on Angie's List, found two other garage door companies, and was able to get written estimates from both within two days. I called Randy back, told him what had been provided, and he was able to take a little off the price of the doors, but Precision was still several hundred dollars higher than the other two for similar doors & hardware, and a little better warranty. On top of that, we had already paid for Randy's work that was unable to fix the problems. Randy said he would talk to his boss to see if any more could be done and that his boss would get back to me. I explained that I wanted to have a final decision by the end of the week so that the doors could be ordered and the work scheduled. Nobody bothered to call me back. After a week of calling Randy directly, the office directly, and speaking with the office manager, Robin, Precision was still unable to get me a final contract price and let me know if they were or were not going to apply any or all of our previous work to the new doors and operators. Once I left a message with Robin that due to Precision?s inability to get back to me, I had decided to use a different company, ironically, I heard back first thing the next morning. Robin wrote in an email that the reason they were unable to get any definitive answers over the past week was because the owner, who is normally in the office all day every day, had been out of the office frequently the past week dealing with a difficult personal matter. That is reasonable and had anyone bothered to call me back consistently or even explain the situation to me, I would have understood. In the end, my continued frustration due to Precision?s poor communication resulted in me deciding that if Precision could not get me a simple answer regarding a contract price, how could I trust them with a job costing my family over $3000?

Very responsive right from the beginning. Were able to schedule us in the same day, a Saturday no less. The technician (Jason) gave us a couple of options, explained the work and then got right to it. He finished within the window of time he predicted, which was quite a bit quicker than we expected, and fully explained the warranty. He was both personable and professional. We were very happy with Precision and will definitely use again. In contrast, other companies we contacted before Precision haven't even gotten back to us yet. Thankfully for Precision, our car isn't trapped in the garage all weekend long.

They were unable to perform the work for me. I was impressed they observed the work first and then made an assessment. They were very responsive and honest with their assessment. They unfortunately could not fix the kind of garage door I had so they offered to give me a refund.

Randy arrived as scheduled and quickly determined that the cause of my garage door opener not opening automatically was a broken wire. He replaced the wire, which he believed could have been chewed by a rodent. When I told him that an exterminator had been there and saw animal feces in my garage and that I had seen signs of its actions, he looked around and discovered that a possum was hiding in a bag. He scared the possum out with a broom! Needless to say, I was very grateful and very much impressed that Precision had people like him for employees. It was a perfect service call!

They completed a garage door inspection and replaced keypad, installed new sensor, tightened up the nuts and bolts of the door, and lubricated rollers and on door. He completed the work per the Big Deal then did some additional work on the door.

He was extremely knowledgable. We have not yet seen the completed work, but it seems that it went fine.

I called on Thursday and made an appointment for Saturday between 11-1 for a repair of my opener. On Saturday, the technician had not showed up by 1:00, so I called the office to see if there was a mix-up. The office called the technician and had him get back to me. When the technician finaly called me he said it would be at least another 2 hours before he would come. I told him I had already wasted most of the day sitting and waiting for him to come when he was scheduled to come, and that I didn't want to wait at least 2 more hours at that point, so I wanted to cancel. He said "well, that's your choice." After I hung up with him I called the office again to tell them that I thought this was a terrible way to do business. After all, if he was running 2 hours late he should have been able to call me even before my appointment time to let me know, so I could have made a decision not to waste my day sitting around in vain. To their credit, the person in the office was apologetic and agreed that it is unacceptable to be more than 2 hours late for an appointment.

Clearly we did not do as well as we promised. The technician did end up with a very big job that took him almost 3 hours to complete. It is our policy to stay at the job until it is complete, but it is also our policy to call the customers if we are going to be outside of the time given the customer. Another cause for his delay was the unexpected amount of snow that fell on Saturday -- nearly half of the expected further delay was the technician's expectation on how long to drive to the customer's house. The technician has been spoken too and he is sorry that he didn't call and understands that he did you a disservice. Complicating the issue is that we did have a technician call out sick on Saturday. This prevented our ability to dispatch a different technician to the customer.

The rollers were replaced and new springs installed. The whole garage door mechanism was checked and found to be in good working order. The technician was punctual and efficient. The total price was a little higher than I expected, but on the other hand, the garage mechanism had not been serviced in many years, so it was due.
Description of Work: He replaced the rollers on the overhead garage door, for which I had paid Angie's List. But he also replaced the springs, one of which had broken.

They installed two new garage doors and two new lift-master openers, removed the old heavy solid wood doors that no longer functioned-which were 40 years old, and took all the old hardware as well. We are very pleased with both the estimator-Joe and the installer-Adam who was really great and spoke to us on a level we could understand, not overly technical, when he explained the new equipment to us.

Garage door wasn't opening. Noise coming from motor but chain wasn't moving. Called for service on Sunday, next available appointment was on Tuesday. It wasn't an emergency so waiting two days was fine. Technician (Jason P.) showed up between time frame that was given. I explained what was going on. Jason immediately knew what the problem was and fixed it within a half hour. When completed he showed me the part that was replaced. He also honored my 5% new customer coupon even though I hadn't printed it (he usually needs a printed copy). I would definitely use them again in the future.

Called early on a Friday afternoon asking for an emergency appointment. The person who answered the phone sounded harried and said that she couldn't get me an appointment until Monday afternoon at the earliest. I said that I was calling because the Angie's List site indicated they offered 24 hour emergency calls. The woman sighed. She asked what kind of emergency I had that I needed service. Not sure that this should matter. She then said she would 'try to call around and find someone' but couldn't guarantee anything. I said I was suprised that this was the emergency service arrangement. She promised to call me back. She never did. NEVER EVEN CALLED BACK TO SAY THEY COULDN'T HELP US. We went with another company here on Angie's List who DID return calls. So much for 'focus on customer service' or doing what you advertise that you do. So disappointed.

Was looking to have a new garage door installed along with a new garage door opener. Used their website to design door and get a quote. Despite website stating a quote would be sent never received one. Followed up by phone to schedule appointment that too was problematic. Follow-up phone calls and emails necessary. Scheduled evening appointment for estimate - technician came late and brought along a friend to the appointment. Technician had trouble finding the door design I wanted in his pricing book had to call into office. Should have went with other company at this point, but the Saturday availability and technician's assurance he was available by phone had me sold. Phone calls to technician weren't successful - didn't return calls. Company promotes customer service, yet that doesn't happen despite outreach to company. They screen out any critical feedback in reviews on their website. Went with Thompson Overhead Door - much better customer service, very responsive and helpful.

Customer is either confused or not being truthful. Clearly we do not do every perfectly, but her account is simply not what our records show. First, customer claimed that we missed an appointment (neither our scheduling software nor our phone records show that customer ever communicated prior to setting up the appointment which she mentions above). For the record, I reached out to her on Saturday October 26th after receiving an email from my call center stating that she was upset. She didn't recount this in her note above, but I mention this to help set the tone of our interaction. In our conversation I mentioned that we have never had a complaint about our Door Designer application not working and I would like to see the emails she received from the system to help troubleshoot any potential problem. I followed up with her and stated that my IT department could not find any record that matched her description and that we were sorry for any confusion. This customer was not at all friendly as she went out of her way to say negative things about the company despite our trying to resolve the issue she brought to our attention. Our records indicate that we did return her calls twice – the calls were related to questions about the doors she was interested in. If she called the technician and never received a return call this is the first time anybody in the office has heard this. I am not saying that she didn’t call the technician and I am also not saying that our technician didn’t call her back (these are all possible). If the technician didn’t return her calls I apologize. Although customers try to call technicians directly we clearly need them to call the office as that is how larger companies work as they typically have procedures to make sure things get followed up. We do try our hardest to return calls as quickly as possible and provide world class customer service. This time we clearly didn’t live up to this customer’s expectation.

The service was good. It was a pretty good experience. I almost spent double of what I purchased but that was because it turns out that it was something which needed a replacement. It was definitely more than what I had thought, not for any fault of his but something that's needed changed and that what caused me the money. I would certainly recommend them. I think the person who came in was very helpful. Even though I paid him for service of one door, he helped me with he second door. He helped me configure the remote device in my car with the second door as well. He definitely went above and beyond what he got paid for so I would definitely recommend him. If I didn't purchase the Angie's deal, I think they would have been slightly expensive than some of the other people I spoke to. I waited for him. I had to call and I found out that it took him more time in his last job so I had to actually wait.

Communication about the date and time of the appointment was excellent. Precision provided bio's on their technicians which was nice. He arrived earlier than scheduled (when making the appointment I had the first appointment of the morning, but said that if the technician could come earlier I would prefer it) but called about 45 minutes before arriving. He was courteous and pleasant, and explained exactly what was going on, showing me his concerns. There was no pressure to purchase any additional services, but I asked him if he had time and the materials to make the fix while he was at my home. He did, and he also provided me with a price ($270) before ever doing any work. He was clean, neat, and fast. When the work was completed he showed me exactly what had been done. All-in-all this was an excellent experience. I definitely would use Precision again, and I'd recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their garage doors.
Description of Work: I had purchased a deal through AAA to have a tune-up performed on my single car garage door ($99). Part of this service included replacing the rollers and a full safety inspection. That inspection revealed issues with the cabling which was badly frayed and springs that were stretched out. Although I'd had the door replaced about 6 years ago, based on what I now know, it seem like the company that did the replacement reused parts (I had contracted them via my local Home Depot). I haven't had any issues and am very thankful I had this inspection done before the cables snapped which could've caused damage to my car and left me stuck with the door down

I received a quote back in March and in November decided to go with Precision Doors. After some initial issues with getting the answers I needed to some deeper questions regarding painting, warrenty, installation and removal (the receptionist had no clue on the answers and had to keep going back to the owner, and not to mention was very rude and actually put me on hold while I was trying to explain what I was looking for) I finally spoke to the owner, Will, directly. He was great! Answered all my questions, spent a good amount of time with me on the phone telling me the pros vs cons of painting the doors, disposal methods, installation process, etc. In conclusion, he then advised that for a small amount extra I could get the color I wanted (black) and that it would be the same cost to install, etc. I ordered the doors which took about 2-3 weeks. Once the doors came in I received an email and a phone call scheduling my installation. The 2 technician's that came were on time, professional, went above and beyond to be sure that the installation was flawless, clean and to my statisfaction. They even tweaked my garage door openers so that they worked well with the new garage doors. They explained all the ins and outs and let us know to call them if anything should happen. Thanks Ray and Adam - you impressed my husband and that is very hard to do!!! The cost is a little higher but it was worth it, the garage doors look great! I would recommend using Precision Overhead Garage Door Service/New England Garage Door in Hudson MA to anyone.
