Description of Work: I bought a "Painter for a Day" coupon thru Angie's List for $199. I knew the work I wanted done would require more than a day. I had DJ come out to check out the job and he told me it would take 3 days. The first day was paid for and the additional days would be $225 each. So I would owe him an additional $450. | |DJ came out on the morning we agreed upon to start the job. The job consisted of skim coating, sanding, priming, and painting around 400 sqft of wall space. The room has a cathedral ceiling, so the peaks of the walls were about 15 feet tall. He didn't charge any extra for the height. He worked for 3 straight days, roughly 8am to 4pm each day. The work was done well, and DJ did a pretty good job cleaning up all the dust from the sanding. There was a little left for me to clean up, but I didn't mind because it allowed him to complete the job quicker, and charge me less. When DJ was done, he told me pay him $420 on top of he $199 I had already paid. This was $30 less than his original estimate. If he had done all the dust clean up and charged me the full $450, I would have been fine with that too. | |All in all, DJ did a very good job, and I would hire him again. He's a very pleasant guy and loves to chat...although once he gets to working, he goes pretty much non-stop.

Description of Work: I purchased a coupon to get work done. When I called the man said that they were scheduling 3 months out. Dont know why he felt the need to talk down to me though like I should've known how booked up he was. He was pretty unprofessional on the phone.

Description of Work: Installed an Attic Ladder. They did a very good job, especially since the ladder I bought from Home Depot did not fit the opening to my attic. DJ actually went to the hardware store and bought the materials needed to make it fit. Great guys, very friendly and professional

Description of Work: First off, I had a hard time deciding between an A and a B in some instances. DJ came out to do an estimate and he said right away that painting my kitchen with swing out (unprimed) french doors was a two day job. I was very appreciative that I knew this going in. Also, he was generous enough to give me the second day at the same rate as the $400 for two painters for a day. There is not much wall space in my kitchen, but there is a lot of cutting and in some cases they had to reach over cabinets. He initially thought it would take 2 coats and that they would have to take the french doors off to paint them when he quoted me on two days. It ended up needing only one coat and the doors were able to remain hung, so I had visions of them being able to knock off other small projects as they were waiting for areas to dry, etc. such as painting some doors, etc. They did paint a bathroom radiator for me (quoted in the original estimate) and one side of a door, but I felt like they were working at a leisurely price, taking numerous phone calls, and if I had paid more for the job, I would have been unsatisfied for the rate of work. I am happy with the quality of the paint job. They seem to take pride in their work, most of the patches came out well (the light gray color is not very forgiving), and aside from a stray brush bristle or so, it's good work. The french doors were extremely rough to the touch after they finished, and I thought maybe they had sanded somewhere else and it had drifted onto the wet surface. DJ later said it had to do with tanins? coming out of the unprimed wood.

Description of Work: Donald and his brother Mark painted the white baseboards, molding, doors, and stairway vertical boards plus railing posts in my house's entry hall plus the hall upstairs, first priming all the dark (from mahogany varnish that crept through from underneath) spots and cracks, then covering totally with white paint.

Description of Work: DJ's scraped, sanded, primed, and painted half of our house. They also repaired and replaced some rotten wood around windows.

Replace rotted window sill from basement window Powerwash house Fix ceiling fan/light This is not a complete list as I continued to ask Mr. Bryden to do small jobs as they were brought to my attention by my realtor.

Description of Work: We hired DJ three times over the past year. The first time was in June 2010. He painted the new siding on the front of our house, which included caulking all the gaps and filling all the nail holes, sanding, priming, and two coats of paint. He also repainted the window trim on the entire house, which was pretty old and needed some major sanding and caulking. He did a fantastic job, he even made the old trim look brand new. The first job was about $2500. We then rehired him in October to finish up some minor interior painting and patchwork (started by someone else), and also painting two of our exterior doors. This was about $700. I also hired him in March to paint my workplace, which is a small 300 sq foot office with high ceilings (about $475).
