Description of Work: Kent got back to me after I inquired via Angie's List. He seems to get a lot of inquiries, so I was lucky. I had a very custom storm door installation job that both Home Depot and Lowe's were quoting an astronomical fee for (I bought the door at Home Depot). Kent came by, checked it out, did all the calculations in his head, and quoted the work on the spot. Came by the next day with a contractor friend and they got it done within three hours. Amazing work, done quickly and correctly. Highly recommended.

Description of Work: Deck collapsed and also did damage to the enclosed porch (an add-on to the house) that it was attached to. Kent contacted me within a couple of days of my post, and came out to do an estimate. Some areas couldn't be seen, but he gave me a preliminary estimate of 3-1/2 days (and 2 people) for about $3500. Turned out that there were some other problems, but one major one we both thought needed fixing was OK. It wound up taking him 2-1/2 days, for significantly less than the original estimate. | |I was impressed with Kent's work and knowledge. He showed me where incorrect construction of the deck had caused the supporting beam in the porch to rot out. He removed the deck, replaced the supporting beam in the porch, and a portion of the flooring (that also turned out to be rotted), releveled the porch and added supports. He also cleaned up the entire work area, including digging out the decks support piles. | |Removal of the deck also revealed some damage to the back of my garage, which I couldn't afford to fix immediately, but he covered it to make the area watertight and prevent any further damage. I will definitely call him when I'm ready to do more work.

Description of Work: We used Kent twice, once to tarp a sunporch roof to prevent winter leaks till it got a new roof in the spring, and again in late winter to shovel the snow off the main house roof. He had a helper to do the tarping, both were excellent, and he did the shoveling by himself. Very nice man, a delight to work with.

Description of Work: Kent is a nice guy and a very good carpenter. I had him repair a wooden fence and exterior split-type exterior door. His work is through and professional. He's honest, and will tell you if the work is not in his repertoire. I would absolutely hire him again if I need any wood working done.

Description of Work: 2 jobs: a set of 5 wooden front steps replaced and 3 cement steps repaired; cost $500 incl material. a bedroom door hung: cost $300 including door.Very reasonable, thorough, professional. + 0 moreGoing into the project, I had gotten estimates from other Contractors and settled on Kent because his discussions about what caused the water damage and the solution seemed at the time to be honest and he was very thorough in his explanations and for our expectations going into the project. I had to wait for awhile for him to finish another job before he was available again (When he first gave us his initial estimate, we were still waiting to hear back from two other contractors. Unfortunately, he started another job and we had to wait for his schedule to open up again. The wait was worth it. I realized I had added an entry based on the estimation process of which I was impressed.by him but forgot to update my review with the details after the work was done until now; when I am looking to hire him for another job. The cost of the work performed was more than we initially expected but Kent was up front on the cost of the additonal labor and materials based on the level of rotten wood and damage that he uncovered when he began the job. There was a lot of rotten wood that fell away like paper. I would and plan to use him again and again for any job. He is an honest man.
Description of Work: Estimate Process: We had some rotten wood in our basement and on the outside of the house and Kent Albrecht Carpentry gave us a quote to fix the problem. He will remove clapboard on the outside, replace some studs, and replace the sheeting that is on there. The estimate was about $1000 Work completed: In addition to the work performed on the estimate, Kent also replaced 2 rotten beams in the basement (under a bathroom tub, and on the sill). He replaced all the studs in the area and a couple more outside of where I thought the damage was, applied new sheating, Tyvek and Clapboards.

+ -1 moreMy dog has opened my refrigerator several times by pushing on the door with his nose. He also chewed at the gasket to try to get in. After Kent did the work as described, Ernie has not been able to open the door, even though he tried so hard he chewed off the decorative strip on the door! Needless to say, my food is now safe.
Description of Work: Kent rigged my refrigerator door so my dog couldn't open it. He screwed a length of metal threshold to the edge of the door, to protect the gasket from the dog's chewing. Then he attached a hook and eye, reinforced with epoxy.

+ 0 moreThe sink in the upstairs bathroom was leaking. Kent said the pop-up needed to be replaced, as well as a couple of connections. He did this, and also secured the fastener which holds the sink to the wall, and caulked. As A result I now have a sink that works properly, does not leak, and is not about to fall off the wall.
Description of Work: Kent installed some new hardware and plumbing on my upstairs bathroom sink.

+ 0 moreKent is a true professional and cares about his work. He is very punctual, walks you through and explains everything he has done as far as the projects go. Gives you honest work at a reasonable price. He also made some very worthwhile suggestions on several projects that I might want to do down the road. Kent sets the right expectations as far as work, price and timing of the completion of the project. I was impressed with his dedication to his work.
Description of Work: Water damage repair, repaired several walls and windows and repainted room. Also did services such as put several interior doors up, hung pictures. Will be coming back in several weeks to do patchwork after my electrician is done.
