Description of Work: Berry Mechanical installed a new heat pump at my condo in Newburyport. Allen Berry (The Owner) is a master HVAC installer. The work occurred exactly on time on the day it was promised. The workers removed the old system and completely installed the new system in one day. The work crew were all very friendly, worked efficiently, minimized the impact on the home during the project and left the condo in very clean condition. The new system is very quiet and appears to be functioning very efficiently as promised. Berry mechanical is also approved by the Mass Save energy program which I was able to use to finance the project with a no interest loan and receive a $500 rebate as well. I would highly recommend Berry Machanical

Description of Work: They came out the same day to check a leak in my central AC/central heat pump unit. | |Identified the problem instantly, changed out a PVC pipe to make it so that I would be able to clean this trap in the future instead of being stuck calling for service every time. Replenished the refrigerant, explained how to maintain the trap in the future and suggested I clean it once or twice a year. | |They were there same day and when they said they would be and this guy obviously knew what he was doing. As soon as he saw the style of trap he was fairly certain it was the issue. | |I liked them and would recommend them to anybody.

Description of Work: Even though this provider does not work with steam systems, he responded in depth to my email and then went out of his way to find me somebody who might be able to help me and he returned that information in the second email. I was very impressed with the time and effort to assist me even though I would not be a paying customer. He went out of his way to find someone he knew that knew somebody that specifically dealt with my kind of system. Any provider that responds immediately to emails and provides this much service with no expectation of any return is very impressive. I did have someone else offered to solve my problem for over $4000 which was way out of line with what was needed, more than 10 times more. It's nice to have a company who is honest and only repairs systems that they know in depth. I would highly recommend this company based on my experience.

 + -1 moreOur natural gas forced hot water boiler failed. We left a message and Allan Berry, the owner, called us back early the next morning (apologizing for not calling us back immediately the previous night). He came by on his way to his office that morning and explained he could either fix the existing boiler or replace it with a high efficiency boiler / water heater. We chose the latter option. Allan came back that evening to adjust the existing boiler so it would heat the house until the new boiler was installed. His crew came in two days later and completed the install in a single day. Allan spent significant time with us after the installation explaining how the new boiler and electronic thermostats worked. He knows his stuff and is very enthusiastic about the new high efficiency boiler technology. He obviously takes pride in doing a high quality job and standing by his work.
Description of Work: Replaced our old natural gas boiler and water heater with a high efficiency combined boiler / water heater.

 + -1 moreBerry Mechanical is really a class act when it comes to customer service and professionalism. The owner Alan came to my home and provided me with a very detailed explanation of what he recommended and the cost. I had already received several other estimates, and his was comparable, but included features that would have cost me extra with other estimates (water mixing valve). A detailed written estimate arrived in the mail approximately 3 days later. His office scheduled the installation appointment. A team arrived at the appointed time, and the installation was completed the same day. Everyone at Berry Mech was knowledgable and intelligent. The system (a Lochinvar wall-mounted boiler and Knight water storage tank) have been great to date. I requested an extended warranty plan, and Alan provided me with a 5 year all labor and parts included plan for a reasonable price. His office also provided me with the paperwork all filled in to apply to the gas company for the rebate for the high efficiency system, pulled all the permits, and arranged for the electrical and plumbing inspections by my town. I would highly recommend Berry Mech if you want a job well-done by trained people who know what they're doing.

 + -1 moreAs I described, the work was harder than expected and Berry handled the job well, even with the surprise. They also had to install it in a tight space while meeting my request that there still be access to the area. Creative thinking helped them satisfy me and still do a good job.
Description of Work: They installed whole house AC for the second and third floors of a two family house. This was a little difficult because, though much of the duct work was preinstalled (10 years ago!), the ends were not standard and ended in odd places. Berry had to custom make a mixer box that could handle this.
