Rooter Man

I had previously experienced a backed-up tub, then the sink. When the toilet backed up, I contacted Rooter Man on the recommendation of my employer. It was apparently not a big deal, but I hadn't been able to clear the back-up myself. In a second bath, the sink drained slowly and I asked to have that looked at. That turned out to be multiple items lodged thanks to a cat and kids. The Rooter Man professional was courteous and generous in providing information in the context of the back-up that will help me make informed decisions about my plumbing when it's time to renovate. He was credible and creditable. That means as much to me as having the drains clear, though I'm happy to note that I've not had an issue since the service.

Started out as an emergency call on Sunday night. Service man Mike showed up Monday morning and got to work. He helped locate the exterior clean-out that was buried 2 feet below the ground so he could work from there instead of inside the house. Less mess, more room for tools, and a better chance of fixing the problem he said. He was extremely persistent and used a few different tools and extensions to find the problem and remedy it. He made sure it was fixed before writing up the paperwork and handing me the itemized bill with a description of the work performed.

I used Him on April. He solved the problem the cheapest way. I would use Him in the future.

Originally I used Rooter Man on an emergency call for a major backup in a drain line. I had called other companies and actually scheduled one before I called Rooter Man. The other company would not provide me with a quote for services until they arrived. After scheduling with the other company I still called Rooter Man as a back up plan. I'm glad I did. Rooter Man gave me an up front price for the job. When the other company arrived they wanted to charge me nearly twice as much. I told them to leave and called Rooter Man back. They arrives right when they said and cleared the line up in no time. I have used them again and had a similar experience.

Did not go well. They doubted it was the drain and recommended a new toilet. We replaced the toilet for over $1200 and the problem still exists (toilet and tub backing up). Called back on a Thursday to have them come out on Friday afternoon and was told to call back next week and that they would have to remove the toilet, etc.. So much for 24 hour emergency service. To make matters worse, I investigated further and found a cleanout behind the toilet. From Day 1, we could have snaked via the cleanout and saved $1200. I'm thru with this company. Very frustrated. I have setup an appointment with another company and am confident they will be able to clean the drain. After all, thats what most drain cleaning companies do.

They did nothing for me.

My bathroom sink was clogged with no water going down, I called Rooter Man and got some one that setup my appoint the same day , the Plummer arrived on time. He was kind and helpful . I showed him my problem sink and he went to work in less than 30 mins he was done. With very little mess cleaned up after and provided a detail invoice .

I called in the morning and was able to get an appointment immediately, which was great! One of the bathrooms sink, shower stall, and toilet were clogging and backing up. I though it was a septic problem but he snaked the shower drain and unclogged the pipe. I had a great experience, he was professional, prompt, and very helpful. Thank you!

We first called Flaherty Plumbing and they suggested we might want to call Rooterman because Flaherty's equipment only reaches 25 feet - and we might have to call Rooterman after already paying Flaherty. That recommendation by Flaherty saved us a couple hundred dollars. Mike from Rooterman called right back, gave an estimate of how long until he could be at our place, called to say he was on his way, and showed up shortly after. Very prompt and professional. He surveyed the issue, found the drain clean-out and within half an hour had cut through the clog.

Got here ahead of time, cleaned it out, it was a messy job, he was very professional.

Showed up on time, was clean, thorough, and gave me all the options and education necessary for a good decision making.

I joined Angie's list May 31, 2012 and called Rooter-Man the next morning,June 1, around 7:30 am. The serviceman named Mike was at my house the same morning around 9:00 am. I couldn't believe the quick response. Mike was excellent. He had my garbage disposal and dishwasher working like a charm. All the clogged pipes were clear. I did forget to use the coupon that was provided, but even without using the coupon, the price was right. I will definitely call Rooter-Man again should I have and drainage problems.

We hired another company, because Rooter-Man never followed through on their promise to come take a look in order to make an estimate. They returned my initial call the next day, could not pin down a day or time when they would be able to visit, but said they would call first. Never heard from them again. I had told them in my initial call, and again when I spoke with them, that the city had told us this was a sewer repair "emergency," so we went with a company that was more responsive. The one time Rooter-Man did call, I had to ask about three times for him to repeat the name, because he seemed to mumble it very quickly, and I couldn't understand. So maybe he decided I'd be too hard to work with! But I would have appreciated a call saying they would not be coming after all, even to make an estimate.

I had a coupon for their services. Overall, it was excellent. It ended up being kind of a messy job, but he kept at it. I felt bad about the coupon at the end, but he didn't even blink an eye. It was great.

This past weekend our downstairs shower was being filled with water and waste whenever someone ran water down any drain in the house or flushed the toilet. I tried to fix it myself by snaking the drain and using some liquid plumber. When that didn't work, I decided to call a lumber. I called a few of the plumbers on Angie's List based on grade and some good reviews. When I got a call back from one and explained the situation, they said it would require a different type of company and recommended Rooter Man. I checked their reviews and gave them a call yesterday. They said they could help and were able to schedule same day. Unfortunately I wasn't available but they were able to come out today instead, just asking for a two hour block of time. Mike showed up on time and took a tour of the problem. He checked a few places and diagnosed where the clog was. He pulled off the toilet and sent down the snake once or twice (the thing was a beast!). Up came everything that had been causing us almost a week of problems. He gave some tips on keeping it clear in the future and recommended a local septic guy to come give the enter system a check-up. Before leaving, Mike cleaned up after himself and even cleaned up a bit of the area of water that had been spilling over. He was personable the entire time and explained step by step why he was checking certain places, what he found, etc. I would absolutely call them again, but hopefully I never have to.

They did a good job. They were very straightforward. Their work seems to be fine. I would use them in the future.

Called Rooter Man Saturday afternoon and spoke directly to a person. Within 20 minutes, I received a call from the plumber to tell me that he had two more calls to complete and would be at my house asap. Within an hour and a half, he arrived and twenty minutes later, the main sewer line was unclogged and the mess cleaned up. Very satisfied with services.

We called Rooter Man at 7:30 am, and were able to make an appointment for later that morning. They were on time, and quickly resolved the problem. They were very neat and left everything clean when they left. We were very happy with their service, and felt the fee was quite reasonable

Downstairs bathtub began oozing black gunk from the drain. Later, the adjacent toilet was reported blocked. Still later, waste-water came up from toilet base during the time an upstairs shower was used. My attempts to use dish and laundry detergent down the toilet, a plunger, and an auger failed to clear the blockage. My plumber recommended a "rooter" or "roto-rooter" type business to clear a broken "big wire" (main drain) blockage. I called Rooter-Man in Hudson, MA and was greeted by a live and very pleasant receptionist. After explaining the urgency, given my large family, she checked in with the plumber to try to schedule a visit today even though it was after noon. He said he could make it "between 3:00 and 5:00." Paul came at least an hour early. He was clean, courteous, friendly, and professional. He inspected the main drain in the basement, the blocked toilet, and the tub. He opened and inspected a main drain on the basement floor, then closed it. He identified the location of the blockage based on which devices were blocked and which were clear. The device he used to drill the snake looked quite heavy. Once he started rooting the drain, it took about 20 minutes or so of patient drilling to remove the blockage--paper towels stuffed down the toilet! He left the area tidier than it was to begin with. The charge was substantially less than the original quote, and the quote was substantially less than the charge for the same service by competitors I initially researched. I highly recommend Rooter-Man in Hudson, MA.

He asked to see the problem. Afterward he agreed with Jim that it was a venting issue. I showed him where the main sanitary drain line was. He was able to access the clog through a clean out on our first floor. (Raised ranch ) He brought in his bucket of tools and a drop cloth to protect the floor. He opened the pipe and snaked upward and asked me to go outside to check when it came out the top of the pipe. It came out spinning and flinging pine needles, etc. He went through it up and down several times. He then packed the equipment but kept it inside while we went upstairs and confirmed both toilets were flushing without reducing the other's water level. He put his equipment out into the van, (new van and in good shape). He came back in with spray cleaner and towels and cleaned the area of the floor where he had worked. ( white tile flooring) Told me the price, $225.00, I wrote him a check and he gave me a slip. A very pleasant and good natured man, I enjoyed meeting him. I'm a maintenance manager and my feeling was that if the problem had been more involved, he would have been up to the task.
