JBL Painting

Julio came to my and gave an estimate for 4 rooms that needed to have wallpaper removed and painted. He sent the estimate via e-mail and it was professional and reasonably priced. I asked for a separate estimate for the 4 rooms to be done at separate times individually and that was sent within a day or two. Julio arrived at my house with his employee on a Thursday morning on time and ready to work. I was impressed by their immediate taping of plastic on the floor wall to wall. I know this sounds like what they should do anyway, but I have had horrible experiences with other painting companies where plastic is just thrown down on the ground and dirt and paint get on the floor. I left for work in the morning and when I came back around 4pm, the bedroom had all wall paper removed, walls puttied and sandied, walls were primed, and the ceiling and closet was painted. He asked me for my paint color choice and immediately left to buy the paint. They used a high quality Benjamin Moore paint, which although others may use Benjamin Moore if they don't use a certain level/grade of it you are not able to touch up the walls and you can tell if you try. He arrived back within 30 minutes and said he wanted to stay and put one coat of paint on. He was done by 6pm. The next day his employee arrived in the morning to do one more coat of paint and paint the base board in the room and a little later Julio arrived to inspect with my husband. Before leaving, they cleaned up the room by removing the plastic, sweeping, and mopping the floors! This was done by 12pm! To summarize, in 1.5 days our guest room had the 1980s wallpaper stripped, walls puttied, sanded, primed, and 2 coats of paint. Ceiling was painting and the closet. I'm not sure if the walls were just in really good shape, although I don't really believe that because my husband and I did a few rooms by ourselves and the walls were not, but the walls were immaculate . We will be calling Julio soon to begin on our Dining Room, which needs to same work done and more.

We looked at several companies and decided on this company. They were really local so it was more convenient. I like the house. It came out really nice. There was a little language barrier but the owner had an interpreter with him so it wasn't an issue. I will use them again in the future.

4-22-2011 After firing a previous painter, we requested an estimate from JBL Painting. Julio was prompt and provided an estimate very quickly. His cost estimate was in the middle of all 3 of the estimates we received. We had overnight visitors coming within a week and because we had fired the previous painter, the house was taken apart and ready for a painter to come in - but not ready for company! Estimate was provided on Wednesday, and he offered to spend his weekend to complete the first part of the job (inside - the most important to us). He showed up on time with his crew - all courteous meticulous painters. They were careful to cover all surfaces and took up the dropcloths in the evening. They stayed late both nights to complete the work inside. They came back within 2 days to repair and and plaster parts of the garage. We had a roof leak this winter and he cut out the damaged drywall to inspect for mold (found none) and then replaced the drywall and replastered the ceiling and down the walls. They worked late into the night to finish the prep work. They came back after the plaster was dry (within a week) and painted all walls, 2 doors and the ceiling. They swept up and even cleaned up a grease spot (WE caused) on the garage floor. Julio himself repaired some crown molding (I installed poorly), sealed it on the ceiling and wall and painted it white on a dark wall without splashing! All the guys who worked on our job were professional and worked diligently until all the work was done. The quality of the drywall, plastering and painting were all EXCELLENT. We are selling this house, but will absolutely call Julio for the work in the next house.

I could not be happier with our experience with JBL. From a prompt returned phone call, to good email communication, we had no trouble getting a very competitive estimate (came in well below another estimate we got). The crew was courteous and respectful, made my wife feel at ease,and took excellent care of our home. We left them for 3 days, and they did everything they said. I saw some of the prepped areas on my return, and they did it by the book ( I am a former painter). Our house has some very tough areas and they had no problem with any of them. I had a short punch list at the very end (typical for any job), and Julio himself stayed to make sure that every item was taken care of to our complete satisfaction. Furthermore, it's clear to me that, should we find anything that needed attention that we somehow missed, they'll come back to make it right. A truly excellent company with professional human beings doing great work. Could not ask for more, and would hire them for sure when we need painting at our next place.

Contacted this company about an estimate by leaving a voice mail. Owner called back some day and came out within a couple of days to give an estimate. I liked him---he understood just what I wanted done and had good suggestions on a couple of pieces of it. I also am replacing all interior doors and all mouldings (baseboard and door and window trim) which I mentioned to him in telling him that he didn't need to paint the existing woodwork. He asked if I had someone to do that. When I said not yet he said he works with a guy who does really good work and would be glad to arrange an estimate from him. We set up a time. 30 minutes before the appointment time this company owner called to say his friend couldn't get here. We set up another time...same thing happened. At this point I hadn't yet gotten the estimate from this company. I told him never mind on the other guy...could he just send me the estimate for his work. I never heard from him again.

I've used them twice on a home that I lived in previously. Overall, the experience went well. They're courteous and professional, and do a great job. I'm satisfied with their serivces.

They do very good work and we had no problems with them. They are professional and detail-oriented. They have a carpenter that they work with and he also does a great job.

An excellent experience. They took extra care in removing the wallpaper and smoothly out the bedroom wall's rough patches. They were punctual, efficient, and did a superb job applying the paint. I was very pleased with the work and would use them again.

The painters did a pretty good job. The quote, while written, lacked detail. I thought additional work was going to be covered that was not. The paint itself was done well, but I wouldn't use them again in the future.

Julio was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. My budget was a bit less than original quote but he worked with me on the price so I could get the painting I needed. Julio's crew were all quite pleasant, and the job was done in a timely fashion. The new place looks great, so much better than the three shades of gray it was prior to painting.

Overall it went very well- these guys work hard and put in long days. My kitchen was tedious but Fernando is so patient. You can tell that they all love what they do and their work is meticulous.

We received prompt call backs, quick and detailed estimate via email. The price was higher than other estimates, but we felt much more confident that JBL would give us a more satisfactory outcome and better quality than the impressions we got from other estimates. They came over a weekend, because it worked better for our family's timing. The final outcome was very professional looking and beautiful.

I cannot begin to say enough about this guy. Foremost, his work is excellent. The room turned out spectacular and without incident!! I am extremely fussy about anyone working in my home and also have a bit of experience with what a good paint job looks like. Not only had my husband and I painted about 70% of our house interior ourselves, but we've also contracted painters to do a large living area and a huge brick chimney. Comparatively, I wish I had met Julio (JBL Painting) a long time ago. Julio was on time for both the estimate and the job. He was well prepared and required nothing of me and my time. He was as quiet as a mouse when he was at work and, from what I can see, has an impeccable work ethic. He did not leave until his work was completed. He made no shortcuts at the end of a long 14+ hour day and left nothing for me to "touch up!"! He painted the base boards despite that they were not included in the estimate. He was not running outside to smoke cigarettes 5-6 times a day like some others that I've experienced. No radio blasting, waking up my child. No delays. No change in estimate. And after peaking in at his work early in the day I felt very comfortable handing over the reigns - I didn't peak again until he was nearly done! That says a lot for me, believe me. His clean up was immaculate and, again, quiet. We have quite a bit of odd and end paint jobs to complete in and outside and I'm thrilled to have found someone so great (it only took 5 years!). Oh, and he was lovely with my 3 1/2 year old. Thanks Angie's List and thanks Julio for such a great experience with a contractor!! Finally.

It went very well, the estimate was right on target, the estimate of how long it would take was very accurate, and the quality of the work was outstanding.

They were very good at providing a quote and doing an assessment. We ended up going with another provider who beat them on price. They were very professional and I liked our interaction with them. The quote was very detailed and they were willing to make adjustments and provide different scenarios. They made some effort and just didn't say take it or leave it, which we appreciated. There was no charge for the quote.

I did not select them as a vendor, but was impressed with how they responed to my request.

JBL prepped and painted two rooms, one had the toughest wallpaper I've ever seen which they ended up spending two days on. The walls got pretty beat up in the process, but they did a great job patching it up and putting on enough paint so that it's a nice smooth surface. We added staining 6 doors to the project which they did without hesitation for a reasonable price. The project ran long (due to the wallpaper and the doors) and they brought in an extra guy and came in on Saturday until it was finished. Quality work. No paint or stain on the carpets. I was getting pretty nervous about the stain as they didn't take the doors off and put down carpenter's paper instead, but I couldn't find a single spot. Overall, they did a great job.

He did a really nice job. He took extra care with the tricky areas. He didn't mess anything up and he did what I wanted.

We called Julio and and he returned the call almost immediately. I was remiss in getting back to him and he was appropriately persistent. He came over to spec the job. He quoted it on the spot. We got back to him with the paint colors and he began as scheduled. Is it too much to say, I love this guy. In all the years of working with contractors of one sort or the other, Julio was excellent and probably the best. He was thorough, respectful and worked clean. Our house is over 200 years old and the horsehair walls were worn. He taped and skim-coated every crack. He painted with tremendous care. Two coats of Benjamin Moore from their historical colors collection. Walls and ceilings. He and his partner came when they said and finished when he said they would. Julio was so unintrusive that our two meddlesome dogs did not bark when he was in the house.

They came out the day following the estimate to paint and power-wash. JBL Painting removed all of the wallpaper, skim coated, and worked with me to choose colors to match the countertop; they also stripped and refinished our back yard deck. They have done a great job! They have also refinished some furniture to match our kitchen cabinets.
