Description of Work: Jim is really great! Fast service, a good low price, and really up front about all the details of his work. He offers to pick up and drop off your equipment at a small fee, which was very convenient for me. Best of all, Jim spent plenty of time with me after the job was done going over the details of his work very carefully. I find that a valuable addition to his services. I will use Jim again in the future should anything go wrong with my computers!

Description of Work: Our computer was doing nothing. Jim came, evaluated everything, quickly realized we needed a new video card. He had a new card in his car, installed it, checked that all was running perfectly, and was on his way in just over an hour. I had called him that very day. Fantastic service and very super nice man. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: I went to see Jim because my computer was not responding. In a 15 minutes Jim gave me a tutorial about security and back up options. And he resolved the problem. He was professional and very helpful. I felt his price was more than fair.

Description of Work: Jim is that rare combination of "neighborly professional". Out of the clear blue, my wonderful PC stopped being able to access that portion of the drive that housed all my data files! Of course I have backup software and and an external hard drive, and of course I hadn't used them recently. Of all the recommended PC repairs sources on Angie's, Jim's explicitly addressed the issues of data recovery. When I got Jim on the phone, he was forthcoming about explaining the approach, and rendered a reasonably optimistic prognosis, including contingency plans in the event that we couldn't simply restore to the original status. He was straightforward and responsible about his soonest availability, which was just a few days later. He was also willing to pick up and deliver for a reasonable fee. For mutual convenience, he arranged to meet me in the parking lot of an appointment that I had to keep, and it was midway between us. After we spoke on the phone, I realized I could enlist him to solve an additional problem on an older computer. (I had an old laptop with irreplaceable software. The annoying symptom: its screen would sometimes turn crazy, responding only when I hinged the lid back and forth, coaxing it back into clarity. I had already bought a used screen replacement, but never got around to having it fixed. I called Jim to see if we could add this to the rescue list. No Problem. Jim met me punctually in the parking lot, and kept in good touch on progress. For the computer that had lost access to the data portion of its drive, it looked as though we would have to go with recovery plan B, which would have been fine, but not as perfect as plan A. But he also contacted the mfr of his diagnostic and recovery software. He used their help and his ingenuity/responsibility to do the following: he made a safe backup of things per plan B. Then with that under his belt, he made some educated guesses at how to restore the internal tables (or whatever the correct computer term is) so that they were no longer apparently out of register. Voila! He had restored everything per Plan A! Naturally he also fixed the other computer (for which I had bought the replacement screen 5 years prior. Apparently, it's not something that I had wanted to rush into...). Bottom line: he was a clear communicator, punctual in his meeting me and in his turnaround time for repairs, and finally, safely ingenious at restoring my hard drive. He fixed BOTH computers, and encouraged me to call with any lingering questions. Price for both computers, including pickup at a parking lot of mutual convenience, and drop off at my house: $310.00. A+ all the way!

Description of Work: We felt out MacBook needed someone to look at it as we had lost "system preferences". Jim, the owner, came over and addressed this and other issues , such as "pairing our new Ipad with our computer and tidying up our Internet accounts that we senior citizens hadn't been able to deal with. Jim was very personable and seemed very competent.

Description of Work: Jim took an entire Saturday setting up our new computer, moving all files from the old computer, removing unwanted programs, connecting to our printer and wireless, helping with our laptops. He couldn't have been more patient or thorough.

Description of Work: Our hard drive crashed and he took great (and creative) measures to restore it successfully to recover lost data, then helped install a new one.

Description of Work: I was having trouble installing a pair of web cameras with my wireless system. He was very responsive, professional and prompt. We will definitely be calling him in the future.

Description of Work: Internet connection did not work and the service provider could not fix it.
