I would highly recommend Natural Path Landscape for hardscape work. We have worked with them on 2 projects. We replaced our front stairs and walkway and get many compliments from our neighbours. Natural Path did an incredible job on our project; we're absolutely thrilled with the results, and are already planning a follow-up for next year! We own an old 1850's home in a high-visibility location on a main street that gets a lot of foot traffic, and so wanted to replace a number of modern (and shoddy) renovations with something that would be more period to the house. We reached out to Natural Path based on the strength of the portfolio that they have posted on their website (which I would strongly recommend checking out -- it is very representative of the work). Tom took our vague ideas and designed for us a new front walkway and porch, with new steps leading to a paver patio on the side of the house. Communication was excellent during the entire planning process. Tom promptly answered any questions that we had, and was very clear in a detailed contract about what would be involved in the project, what our responsibilities would be (in our case, we had to have the existing porch removed and supported prior to the start), what potential issues might crop up during the project, and how we would handle them if they did. When our start date arrived the team showed up on time, worked hard all day, and always cleaned up afterwards (anyone who works with contractors will understand how rare this is). They were polite and courteous (even the neighbors said so!), always happy to answer any questions we had or to explain what they were doing. Our project had one major change order: to dig a new drainage trench for a gutter downspout, after discovering during excavation that the existing solution was inadequate and could compromise the integrity of the patio. They did an excellent job with it, at a reasonable price. No issues whatsoever with the project, except that it looks so beautiful that now we have to upgrade the rest of the house to keep up with it!

Tom, Justin and Adam did an outstanding job installing over 200' of granite curb and 2 new walkways. I reached out to Tom (owner) from a top 10 list for hardscape companies, Swanson stone/granite company gave me when I tried sourcing my own granite. Natural Path was #1 one on the list, emailed to me. I called them and with in 3 -4 days I met with Tom and we discussed ideas for my yard and what my goals were. The tools he used and drawings he produced ahead of the work starting were very thorough and detailed. No other provider demonstrated as much detail at the proposal stage. We were very pleased with the project just completed by Natural Path Landscaping, LLC. Each member of the three man team, Tom and his two employees, Justin and Adam were professionals at their their trade. They were careful, respectful and friendly at all times, while answering many questions about the project and work methods. They encouraged me to watch the entire process, as I was once in the masonry trade and found it interesting. The project consisted of replacing an old wood tie retaining wall and a set of long wood steps with a new Unilock retaining wall and a series of granite steps and platforms that mated with a new sidewalk at the top of a hill. The 30 ‘ retaining wall and steps were designed by Tom to step down with the slope of the incline. The wall is a lazy S curve that goes from the house foundation to the driveway and around to the granite steps. Beautiful design that fits into the hill nicely. Natural Path Landscaping was selected for the project after reviewing five bids and interviewing the contractors. This included a contractor that built a similar wall for us last year. Natural Path’s bid was not the lowest bid submitted. In fact, it was the highest received. Based on Tom’s interview and looking at some of his latest, similar projects, convinced us to go for quality. That is exactly what we got. We highly recommend Natural Path Landscaping, LLC for any hard scraping project you might be planning and we will be using their services again in the future.

We're extremely pleased with the work Tom and his team did in our front yard. In short, we had a fairly complex project involving modification of an existing retaining wall in order to build stairs into it, and then constructing two paver walkways to our front door. I got multiple bids for the work. Natural path stood out for two reasons: Tom had vision for the project, anticipating potential issues and solutions that we had not thought of; and he provided drawings (for a fee) in advance of beginning the work. Tom's estimate was competitive with other bids we received - right in the middle, actually. But the work Tom proposed and executed was much higher quality than what was proposed in the other bids. That Tom's quote was competitive with the other bids was actually quite surprising to me. Perhaps the thing that stood out most about this project was that Tom took substantial time to talk with me (several times) to really get a feel for what I had in mind. Then he added several possibilities to my own vision, creating a project that was way better than what I originally envisioned. In addition, Tom's team was outstanding: Adam and Justin were extremely pleasant to have in our yard. They were considerate, friendly, they cleaned up every day, they worked hard, and they did REALLY good work. Finally, the finished project itself looks fantastic. We just love how it came out. It's a privilege to drive into our driveway and see this beautiful workmanship. We couldn't be happier. Best of all, the project as executed is way better than what I had originally envisioned. Perfectly! The Natural Path Landscaping team was professional in every aspect of the project they did for me. The owner, Tom, communicated well from the initial evaluation of the project I wanted done through to the end, giving me updates as the work progressed. The contract he provided included a detailed work description outlining all the steps involved and the materials to be used. There were no surprises during the installation. His work also includes a 2 year guarantee. His team was also very courteous and took infinite care to make sure that every detail of the project was done well and accurately. They protected my yard and flower beds as they worked, cleaning up completely at the end of each day. They started the project on time and finished in the amount of days quoted. Tom did oversee the project but his men are experts also and worked very well independently. I told them that they are artists using pavers and stone as their medium. The scope of the project included a new sidewalk from my driveway around to a new patio in my backyard. The patio includes new entrances to my shed and back door. A fire pit was also installed. Additionally, a landscape fabric barrier was placed under my deck and covered with rounded stone to prevent weeds from growing beneath my deck. I could not be happier with the finished work. They created a new outside living space for me in an area which was hard for me to maintain before. Their work surely increased the value of my property but more importantly to me, it is a place for family to gather now and for me to enjoy on my own also. Two friends recommended Natural Path Landscaping to me as they were so pleased with the work that Tom and his team did for them. I now add my recommendation to theirs. Our patio turned out great! Tom listened to what we wanted, and offered input on what he thought would work well for the space. He seemed interested in being sure that we were getting what we wanted out of the project. The project was finished in a few days, and with minimal disruption to our backyard. It looks great, and looks like it should last a long time. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Tom, you and the guys were a pleasure to work with on our granite steps and patio project. Our first contact was an almost immediate return of my call even though you were on vacation. And by the end of your initial visit my wife and I agreed that you were the one. As the design evolved and arrived with a meticulously detailed proposal, our initial instincts were confirmed and we immediately accepted the proposal. The project itself took a week start to finish, and it was fascinating to watch Tom and the guys do there thing. I made the comment more than once, "You've done this before!" so obvious was their mastery of the craft. The end result looks amazing and we're looking forward to using our new outdoor space. We've already signed up for a second project with Tom to replace our front walkway the same pavers used for the patio and know that we'll be in good hands once again.

My wife and I could not be more satisfied with the granite steps and walkway that Natural Path Landscaping installed to our front entry. From the initial contact through to follow up visits to ensure satisfaction, Tom Kraus was the ultimate professional who demonstrates experience and pride in workmanship. Our initial meeting was to review the landscape and discuss our thoughts about what we were looking for. Then Tom drew up some very well thought-out professional, engineer-like plans of the stairs and walkway. He came back for measurements and brought stone samples and then sent us to his supplier to look at other stone options; the supplier was very inviting and spent ample time with us showing us options, as well. When actual work was taking place, the workmen were always on time, very professional, neat, polite, and cleaned up the worksite every evening before they left. They started on the day they said they were going to start and finished on the day they said they were going to finish. And, the workmanship was fantastic. My neighbors were coming over to admire the work immediately and inquire. Everyone who visits comments on how beautiful the workmanship is. We would not hesitate to hire Tom and Natural Path Landscaping for any other projects we need done in our yard and we would recommend him without hesitation to anyone and everyone in need of stairway and walkway work.

Tom Kraus and his team did a fantastic job on our paver patio! They were extremely knowledgeable of how the the patio should be pitched and added a downspout re-route to move water away from the pavers. They delivered as promised and finished ahead of schedule.

We are extremely pleased with the work that Tom and his team did to build out our stone patio and firepit. We hired Tom and his team right after he provided us their quote. Tom was always incredibly responsive when we wanted to ask questions (which was absolutely not the case with his competitors). From patio design through material selection, Tom was there for us the whole way. You can definitely tell that Tom and his team truly enjoy what they do, and they take the time to ensure that a job is done right. Once it came time to start the work, Tom and his team did a fantastic job with the patio. Even working weekends and sometimes late to deliver it to us in a timely manner. They even went above and beyond and helped patch some holes we had in our lawn with some of the leftover dirt from the excavation (and including seeding it for grass!). Tom was very responsive and detail-oriented. We worked closely with him from design to installation. He is meticulous with measurements. Our backyard space for patio had some difficult aspects and he reworked the design to our mutual satisfaction. His crew was amazingly talented and professional with installation, and finished in the estimated number of days. Tom also worked on installation himself and hand-placed stones around our newly installed granite steps to make them blend with other, older stones we have. They look great. He even spread some leftover gravel in our extra homemade “parking space” next to our driveway, which was running a bit bare. The patio, walkway, and steps are beautiful and will last.

We hired Natural Path because of the great Angie's List ratings and we were not disappointed. Tom Kraus was very helpful in planning our new walkway and front steps. He provided samples of different colors and textures for the paving stones when he arrived to assess the project. Within two days he produced a design and provided an estimate, along with an approximate time frame to start the work. He was very knowledgeable and responsive, very focused on making sure we got what we wanted. The removal and installation, performed by Tom and two co-workers, was done very competently and efficiently. A permeable subsurface of crushed stone was installed underneath the pavers to allow for drainage. The area around the walkway was completed with new soil and grass seed. Afterwards, they cleaned the area thoroughly. The project was completed in about two days time. We have received several compliments from our neighbors about our new front walkway. Overall an excellent experience for us, and we would recommend Natural Path Landscaping.

Tom of Natural Path was great to work with. He is quite communicative, making sure to follow up with every step of the process. Best of all, he is extremely bright - he came up with a clever alternative (making the sidewalk ramp up so we would need fewer granite stairs) that got us a gorgeous sidewalk + stairs for not much more than the original stairs we'd requested. His thinking outside the box made a huge difference in the cost and what we were able to achieve. Then, he and his team followed through with very high quality work. Highly recommended.
