Description of Work: In the middle of the recent heat wave, one of the two mini-splits this company installed in our house stopped cooling. a service person came out and spent three hours trying to repair it. He said he had never seen anything like it- it was out of refrigerant. He drove to Greenfield to get more refrigerant, put it in the unit and ran it for a while to make sure it was working. He was very nice. I paid almost $800 for the work. within 48 hours, the unit failed again. We called and the service person arrived after five pm and found that the unit's compressor was "cracked" and was again out of refrigerant. HE said he had never seen anything like this before. I asked what the company would do next, he said he'd talk with the owner, and then no one got back to us . Several days later, my husband called the company and eventually heard from them and they said that WE should contact Mitsubishi on our own and deal with it ON OUR OWN. They wouldn't even talk to Mitsubishi on our behalf!!! They said they were the middleperson!!! Over the years, This unit has had its motherboard replaced more than once and the final time this company did not want to manage the cost of the new motherboard themselves, they wanted us to pay for it even though it was damaged... finally when I was in tears about the whole thing they agreed to cover the cost of the part but not the labor. And NOW this summer, in August, we have the same flawed unit with a cracked compressor and they won't even talk with Mitsubishi. We have not heard anything from this company since they told us to contact Mitsubishi ourselves, not even a call to see how it was going. Terrible, just terrible. And the owner lives in my town!!! We went with this company because we wanted to support local business and it has been a nightmare since they installed the unit. The other unit in our house has been fine so clearly this is a problem with the unite and they should replace it with a NEW one and they should negotiate that with Mitsubishi... we should not have to do that. And of course, there has been no communication with them about the nearly $800 I paid for something that failed 48 hours later.

I have a twice a year maintenance agreement, spring and fall, that guarantees that the systems are in top running order (my house has two zones). I hope the humidifiers improve the house's comfort this winter.

+ -1 moreI received a detailed estimate from Jim after he visited and discussed my needs with me. We spoke by phone and he sent a contract. I signed the contract and returned it to him with my deposit. We talked by phone to set up a date I wanted the work done. I received a call the day before the work was to be done confirming the date. The workers, headed by Jim's son , arrived on time. They proceeded to do the work with a minimum of disturbance to the household. All of the work crew were pleasant and efficient. The best part was how quickly they were able to complete the job. I had expected the work to take two days. I was not looking forward to being without heat. The work was completed in just one day. I have not received my final bill, yet. I will amend my review as needed then.
Description of Work: Pioneer removed my non-functioning central A/C unit and replaced it with a Carrier unit. They also removed my old oil furnace and oil tank. They installed a new Carrier gas furnace and the needed pipes for the gas feed.

+ -1 moreThe condensate lines for the wall mounted mini split A/C unit were buried under ground with no protection whatsoever. They corroded and leaked and had to be replaced less than 2years after it was installed. The contractor would not admit error or fix the unit with new condensate lines, properly covered. 3 other professional HVAC contractors said it was inexcusable that they buried lines with no protection. When this was mentioned to the contractor, he said it was contractor's choice whether or not to protect them. It cost us $1200 to fix the problem on the A/C unit that was less than 2 years old and used only a couple of times.

Cheapest of three by a hair despite the other two companies missing some difficulties that would have been encountered when the job began. Very neat work, had to remove molding and make some holes and did a great job of concealing damage. Gave good advice on how to protect units in the winter. Very fast completion and on time. Estimate given and work complete within a week of go being given. Good communication.
Description of Work: Replaced two 3.5 ton AC units, in a 6 zone system. Needed some work to bring in new wires and pipes, moved condensor to back of house, for one unit.

+ -1 moreThe company replaced a section of pipe and a valve they said was bad for $1,100. Five weeks later they came back for the same problem and replaced a thermostat for $250. I think the thermostat was the problem all along and that I got a shiny new section of pipe that I didn't need. I know practically nothing about hvac, so take my ideas for what they're worth. I'm not giving them overall terrible scores because the second fix actually worked. I won't call them again, though.

+ -1 moreIn response to an ad for a discount on a/c equipment, I contacted the owner Tim Gochinski. He came right away and checked the condenser I had. He offered to install a used unit for a reduced cost and it was done within a couple of weeks. This included a full warranty for a year. After this positive experience, I decided to enter into a contract with Pioneer Heating & Cooling to service my heating and a/c eauipment. Since the a/c was under warranty, this involved only the cost to service the furnace.
Description of Work: Replaced damaged a/c condenser in July with slightly used one in new condition. Did annual maintenance in November on gas furnace.

+ 0 moreMy hot water heater needed a solid pipe going from the inlet to the main gas valve someone years ago installed a flex pipe that is now a code violation. I called several companies to get an price on repair and because it was a small job I got NO call backs. To bad for them, because as it turned out my tank was shot and I needed a new one I found Pioneer heating and cooling on Angies list and Tim called right away we talked for a bit and I explained the problem and he said he would have a man there in the morning. He called that night and told me that the flue pipe had rotted and exhaust would soon be entering the home. He quoted me a fair price and the work time was set up and the job was done on time and I am very happy with his service, technisions and professionalism. Ask for Tim he's a great guy to talk to. hope this was helpful. ----- bob
Description of Work: A hot water tank was installed. When looking for a service don't tell them what you think needs to be repaired just explain the problem and let them examine it and tell you what needs to be done. If, a job is to small, on your word it may be hard getting the help you need. large companies have a large over head and may just let the small companies do these small jobs. Your not the pro, they are, let them do there job.It took me two days to find someone because I guessed what was wrong when I told them what I thought I needed done.

+ -1 moreTim (owner) came and gave me an estimate for the work to be performed. I got two other estimates and decided to go with Pioneer Heating & Cooling. I scheduled an installation date and the techs arrived early in the am after calling and stating that they might be a little late because of a snow storm the night before. The techs worked through out the day and my new furnace was up and running by the afternoon. I was given an inservice on the new furnace and was told to call the office if I had any questions.
