He was excellent, I would highly recommend. Very satisfied, the floor looks like new.

Multiple other companies quoted allot more money and stated that the floors would be very difficult to do and would not turn out like they thought I was hoping for. I had low expectations, since the floors were from 1910 and had multiple layers of tiles, glue and subflooring with lots & lots of nails, along with the quotes from others. But Sousa's Fine Floors, exceeded that and the floors came out beautiful!!! They look better than either of the other 2 apartments with the same floors. In fact when 1 of the other apartments become vacant again, I am planning to hire Sousa's Fine Floors to redo that flooring to in hopes that he will improve what the last contractor did to the floors. Highly recommended and will hire again without a doubt!

They responded immediately to my quote request. Dates agreed on, contacted the night before project start. Arrived on time & if running late they would contact with new time. Hardworking, salt of the earth people. Highly recommend these folks.

Steve Sousa and his nephew Doug were phenomenal and as I told them when the floor was finished, we will have them come back over time and refinish all the other floors in our newly acquired 1840s home. Steve and Doug were courteous and very knowledgeable professionals, guiding us through the whole process. I had a lot of questions and spoke to Steve by phone easily a half dozen times, and he answered every question I had patiently and professionally. It is really exciting to find tradespeople who are really, really good, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a clean wonderful job by experts.

We met with Mr. Sousa and we discussed what we wanted he took measurements and said he would get back to us with an estimate. He emailed an estimate and we called him back and accepted the estimate and set up a date to have the work done, which was Friday November 13th. We moved three rooms of furniture into the kitchen and made reservations at a hotel for ourselves and our two dogs for the weekend in order to give the floors time to dry. Sousa Fine floors never showed up and never called. We were charged for one night at the hotel and we still have three rooms of furniture piled in our kitchen. We've called them multiple times they have not called us back. If this is the kind of merchants Angies's list promotes I think I'll cancel my membership. What is the sense in using a service like this if these are the kind of people you allow to use your service. After posting this review we were contacted by Mr. Sousa and he did in fact complete the work requested at our convenience at no cost. The floors look beautiful we are very glad we had them done. ,

Steve did a complete refinishing of the floors over the course of 3 days. Everything came out excellent. There is not really anything different I can add to all of the other "A" reviews on here. There is no need to look for anyone else to refinish your hardwood floors.

Timely response and follow thru with quote, and work

They did an excellent job! I thought the price was reasonable and the tech expertise was fantastic. The main person who did the finishing I believe was owner. He was very pleasant to talk to and very easy to work with. A friend of mine who is in the same field, a professional carpenter, was impressed by the work.

Steve is great. We contacted him and set up an appointment for him to give a quote. He arrived at the house, took a look around and said he could do the work and they would come out looking great. Spoiler alert: He was right! We wanted the floors to be sanded down and then put a few layers of polyurethane on top. No stain. We like the look of natural white oak floors. Our house is from the 1920s, and had rugs in the living room, a bedroom, and in part of the kitchen. There was also linoleum in the kitchen and in a sun room. All of this was removed by the homeowner (us). The kitchen we thought would be particularly tricky, as under the three season rug was two layers of linoleum and a subfloor. But under all that was hardwood. Again, we (the homeowners) had that stuff removed prior to contacting Sousa. There was significant amounts of adhesive on the floor in the kitchen. This came up right away and the room looks great. I guess the hardest room to sand down was one of the bedrooms. That room had a wax put on top of the hardwood. It took a lot of time, but they were able to make it look spectacular. There was some minor (very old) termite damage on a few of the boards in the living room. These were replaced. They also sanded down our stairs after we had removed these terrible plastic skid things put on by a previous homeowner. The new coat of poly on top really improves the look of these stairs. I almost cried at how beautiful these floors looked when they're done, quite the transformation. I definitely jumped up and down for joy. I also slid across the floor in my socks while playing "Old Time Rock and Roll" and wearing Ray Bans. Very, very, very happy! They worked daily until the job was done. Including over the weekend. This is a family team. They couldn't be nicer. The kind of gentleman you want to invite into your home. Would recommend to anyone!

I bought a new home and wanted the floors redone dark for a more modern look (they were a light oak color) Steve got back to me right away, and was able to make time in his schedule to come out last minute and measure the floors on the day I was having my home inspection done. He got back to me with the quote that same day and I hired him. Steve and his crew were fantastic. I was unsure of how dark I wanted to go, so the first day when they sanded my floors down they actually put about 5 different colors of stain in a small area on the floor so I could see exactly how the colors would look. I changed my mind on the color last minute before they started staining and it was no problem. They always came on time, cleaned up after, and Steve was very responsive to any questions I had throughout the process. I would absolutely hire them again for any future need I have. My floors look amazing and I'm receiving many compliments already. Thanks, Steve!!

Everything went very smoothly with Steve. He shows up when he says he will, his quotes are easy to understand, the work he performed was great quality, and he even left us with care instructions for our new floor. Steve and his team are a class operation and I would recommend them without exception.

Job went great. Steve was on time, and kept us posted regularly as to how we were progressing. Very professional and floors look awesome. He usually uses 3 coats of polyurethane but recommended four coats as these floors cannot be done again. The floors absolutely glow now!!! Thanks Steve!

He was fabulous. He did my entire home beautifully. He did extras. The price was the best price I could imagine. He's marvelous. I just recommended him to my mother. He's just great with people. He has a wonderful customer service sensibility. He's a very even, sweet, honest person. He works hard. He's a very cool guy.

The before condition of our floors was very poor. The wood was still good, but it had obviously not been maintained in this 50 year old home. The finish was completely worn in many spots, there was staining, discolored areas from rugs, and some scratches. Steve came and did an estimate and gave a very fair price plus offered a discount for Angie's List customers. Plus he was able to complete the work so we could still move our furniture on our 11/22 date. The completed floors are nothing short of amazing. I don't want to say they look brand new, because they look better: they have character because you can still tell it's an older wood floor. The color is an amazing honey color, I would have never thought they'd look this great. We've received nothing but complements on the floors, and we're totally happy with the work and the price. Sanding floors is a dirty job, and Steve cleaned up all the leftover sawdust. Living in Holyoke, we just put it out with our weekly trash pickup, but this may be a consideration if the trash situation is different where you are. A few hidden corners did have a bit of sanding dust here and there, but we can forgive that, because it's clear they cleaned up after themselves. For sanding the entire house, a little dust being missed isn't a deal breaker for me. We also received a "care and maintenance" document to go over how to take care of the newly refinished floors, which was super helpful. We've been sure to get felt pads for any furniture as we want to preserve the great work. One of the best investments we made in our new home.

At first, because of summer vacation schedules, it took a few weeks before I was able to connect with Mr. Sousa, however, once I did, he was timely and accommodating in the start up and completion of the work I needed done. Mr. Sousa was efficient, timely and thorough in his work. He was true to his quoted price and provided me helpful tips for maintenance and future schedule for upkeep.

Upon receiving the quote we were pleased with the pricing. The process seemed to be moving smoothly through the steps. However, this is where things stopped. Over the course of the next month we emailed on three occasions and called four times leaving three individual voicemails. We have no idea why Mr. Sousa has failed to follow up on the sale.

They were great. It went well, and on time. The one thing I wished I had thought of was to make sure I had somewhere to go overnight when they put the poly...coat on. It was like a mini vaca! Also before I forget, Sousa's floors also returned by phone call very quickly when I had started the search. I had inquired to a few companies from my area and The Sousa's were professional and returned my phone call within that night from my search and email. I would use them again and again. I also would not have an issue if they had needed a little more money from the quote, the work was SUPERB. Sousa's floors has the refinishing down to a science!

Steve and Doug were professional, punctual, and know their stuff. We had just purchased a 1925 Colonial and had no idea what to expect of the wood floors once the decades-old carpet came up, but Steve and Doug had great ideas on how to fix the handful of areas that needed to be patched. Overall, they did an an amazing job. The floors look incredible and we couldn't be happier! Extremely reasonable prices too. Would highly recommend them!

Simply superb service. My husband and I recently purchased a 1950's Dudley cape -- hardwoods throughout the house. We removed the linoleum from our kitchen floor to reveal wide plank pine flooring which was wonderful but in terrible shape. Mr. Sousa not only did a beautiful job restoring our kitchen floor but also on the dining room floor. He and his assistant arrived on time, finished on time, were consummate professionals and gave us the best deal by far of any of his competitors. And let me state again, the results were exceptional. As we progress through our remodel of the house, we will continue to use Sousa Floors. They are simply the best!

Steve and his son did an amazing job refinishing my floor! Just recently purchased my home and the floors were really beat-up and one of the bedrooms had carpet padding glued down, it was a mess. There was also a broken stair tread that needed to be replaced; he did a wonderful job of matching the new wood to the existing stairs. I didn?t want a high gloss finish as I am getting a dog; Steve was great about recommending a finish that would be durable without the high gloss look. He was there on time and completed the work in a few days.

We hired Steve to refinish our floors in our home while we were away . He and his team moved all our furniture ,sanded stained and put three coats of polyurethane, then replaced the furniture. Steve was in constant contact with us while we were away and kept us current on progress, even emailing pictures of different stages. We returned home to beautiful new looking floors, with our furniture all in surprising order. I would highly recommend Sousa Floors to anyone. Good price too!

Steve did a fantastic job on my floors. He performed the work while I was away for a conference. When I came back the floor looks like new. I am very happy with the service. He is punctual and started working in my place from a Sunday morning. He also helped me with moving around a few furniture.

Everything was perfect. He sanded and stained several sample areas so we could compare colors and chose the right stain. He arrived on time every day, finished on time and the quote is what we were charged. Mr. Sousa is very conscientious, does a great job and is very professional. We are thrilled with our floors-they were a mess when we bought this home and they are more beautiful than we ever expected.
