It was very easy to schedule the service and everyone I spoke to was professional and helpful. When the guys showed up, they were on time and helpful. It turned out our ducts could not be cleaned because they were sealed, but on inspection, the guys discovered some black mold. They offered to clean the mold and install a light system to prevent the mold from growing in the future. The work was done quickly and professionally.

They were very quick, in and out in 45 minutes. Did a great job on the dryer vent but the rest seemed to be rushed and I assume was done correctly. They did throw in a duct treatment that was to prevent mold and other contagions. They also came in with a list of other services to buy as an add-on to what I bought at considerable expense. I declined which was ok with them. Overall they were pleasant and got the job done.
Response from Puroclean Emergency Restoration Services
"Thank you for your review. I just wanted to respond by saying that a typical job takes about 45 minutes to and hour and a half. Each home is different depending on the amount of work you are having done, and also the size of the home. We have two technicians working simultaneously in each home. We are glad that you were satisfied with our company overall. Just wanted to explain that 45 minutes with the two technicians is a reasonable amount of time. Thank you for your business and input also."

They were very professional and discovered that the wrong size filter was in my furnace and could cause a breakdown.  The finding was much appreciated.  However, I had no idea that after taking advantage of the big deal for $45, that the final cost would be an additional $420.  I had no idea how to figure how many ducts were in my home.

I feel that it went very well. I would use them again although they told me I shouldn't need to have it done for another 6-10 years. They were professional, punctual, and their work was great. I was pretty embarrassed to see all the dog hair that came out of the vents!

The coupon was for $79 and I was expecting that they'll find other things to do. And they did, for more than $1000. They seem upset when we decided to only do the cleaning. Of course, the coupon was for one main line and one return. I wasn't quite sure of our pipes topology, so I was expecting to pay a bit more. But I was also thinking it would be a more reasonable price. Though, we decided to do it anyway and were still expecting them to do a good job.
I didn't know they were going to drill into our current pipe, and wasn't really sure that this is common practice, that shouldn't odd.
One of the two guy was ok, but the other one was really not professional. I could hear that he did clean one pipe, but only one (they were suppose to clean 4). He mentioned that he did clean the dryer vent, which I doubt because I did see after the fact that there was still some lint on the pipe. It's pretty new so I wasn't worried about it, but it shows how thorough that guy was. The other thing is that while one of them was going upstairs through the vents, pushing dirt into the mainline, the other was "supposed" to be vacuuming that dirt out. But there was no coordination between them and while the first guy was pushing the dirt in, the other one was already done and had sealed all the holes they had made in the pipes. So where did that dirt go? But the worst was that one of them drilled in the pipe and the other one completely forgot to clean it. It was left with the hole. I didn't realized it until they had left. I sealed it myself but wasn't really happy with their job, especially for the price.
I didn't think it was a professional job and would not recommend them.

They were fine, but I found that the deal was restrictive; I was not expecting to have to pay more. The workers were fine, though, and did what they said they would do.

They did some other things and were clear that I could've refused it if I wanted to. They could've come in and just did the "Big Deal" thing and left, but I think that's part of their business motto. They come in to clean your vents and look at your furnace to recommend some things, so I did one of the things they recommended. I liked them and I thought the price was good. They were a little late, but their business is hard to predict at times and it wasn't anything bad.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was very good. They looked at the rest of the vents in the house but that would have been a lot more money so we decided that it didn't need to be done. It was reasonably priced for doing the dryer vent which was the reason I hired them in the first place. They were very kind and pleasant. My dryer seems to be working better than it did before. There was a lot of lint in it so they were very good. They did what they said they were going to do. They did it quickly and they were pleasant to have around the house. They said they would do one additional vent in the house but that would have been impossible; they would have had to do all of them and that would have been several hundred dollars. The price was reasonable and we were happy. They were very responsive and they understood that we didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars to do all the vents. They were located a long way off so it was really nice that they came to Winchester.

The deal they offered was for air duct cleaning as well as dryer vent cleaning. When I called the office before buying the voucher I told the woman (Lauren I think) that we were renting and therefore not interested in spending more than the $79 for the dryer vent and whatever air ducts were included for that price. She said that was fine and scheduled the cleaning. THAT IS WHY I CALLED BEFORE PURCHASING THE VOUCHER - TO AVOID ANY PROBLEMS.. When they called at the time of the appointment to tell me they were running late I told them that we weren’t interested in any upselling to get more things cleaned. He told me the deal was useless in that case. In my opinion, they shouldn’t be offering the $79 deal if it isn’t even useful, and ESPECIALLY after I explained before scheduling the appointment that I wasn't interested in additional vent cleaning. When they got there they only did the dryer vent cleaning and said that they couldn’t do the air ducts. They charged me an additional $99 just for the dryer vent (so $178 total). Not only did I not get what I paid for, they charged me more than double. After the work was completed, they left the dryer duct disconnected and the outside cover hanging.
Response from Puroclean Emergency Restoration Services
"during your appointment you informed us that you were a renter and did not care to have anything done with the air ducts and you were only concerned with the dryer vent. Our charge for dryer vents by themselves start at $99. We do not appreciate when people try to get over on us by buying this voucher with no intention of using it for its purposes. We are air duct cleaners that are able to use the equipment we have to do dryer vents but that was intended as an extra. We take our job seriously and if your not interested in the services we offer I suggest next time to call a dryer vent cleaning company instead of us."

They came in, looked at how many lines we had and showed us that the lines were not clean. The service was fine but it was clearly one of those things that they wanted to upsell you the whole time. We did end up at their convincing getting all of the lines cleaned.  We asked them about getting just the vents cleaned on the deal they said it would only clean part of them and it would just kick up more dirt and make it worse. The deal was good but not with how little it included. They should have done the deal just as a dryer vent cleaning. They arrived in the window that they gave me. The way they sold it was not practical.

The fellows called to say they were on the way.  They arrived promptly and reviewed the heating system.  I was ignorant about what might be involved - I had purchased a $79  Big Deal and thought that would be the cost.  It turned out that there were additional ducts and returns that needed cleaning. (They had never been done).  When all was said and done, I paid a total of $565 ($79 plus $486 more).  I felt that the work probably needed to be done.  But I also felt a sense of bait and switch.  Maybe that was my naivitee about how this would work.  The addition of the dryer vent was high on my list as I could see the build up in my dryer pipe and at the outflow.  Although there was a pile of lint on the ground by the outfall, the vent to the outdoor was left wide open (jammed with lint) and looking down into the dryer itself  (beyond the filter) I can see a large build up.  I can take care of those two things - but that was disappointing.
The fellows were very personable, explained everything - let me look at the cleaned coils, put back furniture that had to be moved, check to make sure the system was running before they left and even had some advice on a car problem I was having.....

Very knowledgable. I purchased the air vent/dryer deal and expected to pay a little more.  Interesting the price decreased when I declined the addtional work on the motor and sanitizing.  The final price was reasonable.

This Big Deal is not working out for me as they don't service my area. My concern is that in the coupon it does not say anything about geographical limitations. They were nice however.

I received a call the day before the appointment with a two hour window for arrival (a plus). I received another call while they were on their way to my home today to let me know that they were on their way, but having some traffic issues (coming North through Boston and I know that nightmare all too well).  They still arrived within that 2 hour window & both gentlemen who did the work were very pleasant and personable.  The work took about an hour or two (didn't pay too much attention to the time) and all of the ducts and dryer vents were cleaned and the UV light installed.  I was given a lesson on how to use the UV light & told that I didn't need to use it when the furnace is not being used, but I could if I wanted to.  I was also told that my duct work was not as old as I thought (purchased the home 8 years ago & have never cleaned them, assumed they were ancient) which was a pleasant surprise.  I was also told that this does not need to be done for another ten years unless I want to pay them for doing nothing (great sense of humor which I admire).

I think that they were supposed to include cleaning of our dryer vents which they either forgot about or overlooked somehow. I sort of forgot too, but nonetheless, they were supposed to do that. I kind of thought they were in a bit of a hurry because they were not getting paid as much as they normally do. They showed up when they said they would. They gave me some advice on maintaining the air conditioner, keeping the filter clean. Their price was fine with the coupon. If we had paid the normal price, it was like two hundred seventy-something. I do not think I would be happy with that at all.

East Coast Vent was hired to clean my central air conditioning air ducts and dryer vent duct, for which I pre-purchased an Angie's List coupon for $79. The lead technician made an assessment that my air ducts did not need to be cleaned, and instead offerred to use the a/c ductwork portion of that coupon towards the cleaning of the a/c blower.  The blower was visibly dirty, which the technician allowed me to see.  The technician also pointed out the mold in the blower unit, and offerred either a system sanitation (suggested to repeat annually), or the installation of an ultraviolet light, that I understand as a permanent solution, with periodic bulb replacement.  I opted for the sanitation, which allows me to do more research on the ultraviolet light solution.  I inspected the blower unit after it was cleaned, and was visibly much cleaner.  The a/c job took about 60 - 90 minutes.
The second technician cleaned my dryer vent.  After seeing the tools used for the service, and the ease and speed at which the dryer vents were cleaned, I am considering purchasing the tools to make this a DIY job in the future.  The dryer vent job took about 5 minutes.
The total cost, including what I prepaid for the coupon, was approximately $320.
