We are a 6 unit condominium and are in need of having the wood around our windows replaced due to rotting. Also needed to have gutters installed. Called John and had a conversation about the problems. He was flat out with current work, but said if we had a small job that he would gladly come over to take a look. Knowing that this is a large job we both agreed it would be in our best interests to pursue another company. He then called me back a few days later to see how we made out. Considering that other companies are not even keeping their appointments, I think this is very commendable!

Overall it was a long process mostly related to the weather- John started in December. He also had a setback when one of his employees got injured but was able to find replacement and continue the job. When the old siding was removed there was water damage found. John replaced this before putting up the insulation and new siding. He also installed a new entrance door in the lower level. John returned several times to finish minor projects that needed attention. I am pleased with the results and the house looks great. I will recommend John further.

I feel bad giving R & G an overall rating of C, because John Feroli, the owner, is professional, clean, and fast and does high quality work. He gets an A for everything. Unfortunately, his brother, who did the painting, is a different matter. John did the siding and window replacement and was prompt, courteous, polite, efficient, and clean, and his work was of very high quality. Although he started the job before the new EPA lead law went into effect, he agreed to abide by the safety precautions of the new law when replacing the windows and siding, and my house was as clean when he left as when he entered. He was great at returning phone calls and answering e-mails; he was careful in measuring for the new windows and even had a representative from Pella come to double check his figures; and he was always friendly and polite. The only suggestion I have for improvement is that John needs to buy his own HEPA vacuum, but since he agreed to use mine to clean up after working on the interior, I was pleased with the result. I would give John an A for professionalism and quality if it weren't for the painting. His brother Mark, who did the exterior painting, did not seem to understand what tarps and tape were for. While the paint job itself looks great, his sloppy, inconsistent use of tarps left paint chips all over my property - and since I have an older home which probably contains lead AND a young child, this is a big problem. Also, he got paint everywhere, including on my flagstones, my kid's toys, my furniture covers, my garden hose, my ivy, my gate, and even on my brand new windows, which cost $5,000 all by themselves. I don't even know where else there might be drips and splatters, because I am still finding them everywhere. He didn't even move the furniture and other stuff off my deck until I asked him to. I complained about this repeatedly to John, and John said he talked to Mark, but nothing seemed to change. I would give Mark a D for professionalism and quality. Bottom line: I can absolutely recommend John for siding and windows, but I strongly suggest that you use someone else for painting.

Was quick to quote the work and order the windows. After the windows came in, the work was finished in about 1 week.

John, the owner, replied quickly to the initial email inquiry and we talked on the phone describing the work. John arranged to meet the following day, a Saturday, to see the house and complete the repair. John called that morning confirming the appointment and again later to say he was on his way. John fabricated the sheet metal fascia on site and spent several hours getting the repair just right. It looks as good as the original and impossible to tell that there had been a repair. John also secured the fascia well, better than the original construction to insure there isn't another problem in the future. John also looked at another repair of a piece of corner siding and recommended against repair due to the amount of work necessary to fix a minor cosmetic problem. I would use John again.

A few strips of vinyl siding had been torn off over the past year from various snow, rain, and wind storms. I had called a number of places, but most contractors were not interested, due to this being a relatively small job. Called John at R & G and described the job: he came by the next day and said that he would be willing to do it and that he could come by the next morning at 8, which he did. I'm not an expert, but the area of the house near the roof is now protected again and I would say he did a very good job--it looks great! He is friendly and approachable and open to doing a variety of contracting jobs. I would certainly call him again.

They were honest but were not very precise. The deck has some gaps and some pieces are sticking out as it was not very well measured.

We originally wanted to replace the wood shingles on our house, and John was one of the first people to give us an estimate. He suggested that we would be happier with vinyl siding, but we had our heart set on authenticity. After many more estimates and research into wood siding, its overall costs and maintenance requirements, and some soul-searching we decided that vinyl siding was going to work better for us, but it needed to be high quality nice looking stuff. We went back and got several estimates for the vinyl, and narrowed it down to just two contractors (out of about 10 highly rated angies list recommendations that we started with) that we believed would treat us fairly, act semi-professionally, and do quality work. We chose John because he was competitively priced and we knew that despite any mid-project confusion or minor communication issues that he would finish the job, and do quality work. We were not disappointed. The job took a little longer to complete because the supplier was unable to get the specific kind/color of siding in stock for over a month after the job started. We opted to wait rather than choose different materials. After all what is one extra month compared to the many years that the siding would be on the house. We originally just hired John for the siding, but during the wait-time for the siding we decided to do one of the other projects on our renovation wish list and had the old/rotting casement windows in the kitchen replaced with fancy new energy efficient bay windows. They took two days to install them and they look fantastic! Also during the project we discovered moderate termite damage to some of the main supports of the converted (to inside space) front porch area. We also decided to take care of that for a reasonable additional cost. John went above and beyond for us on this one, replacing more wood than he originally wrote into the contract and giving us much greater peace of mind that the front part of our house wouldn't spontaneously collapse someday. John did not always show up when we expected him, and he did not always communicate with us as professionally or as timely as we would have liked. However, we knew and expected that going in based on his history and references, and decided that for the cost and the quality, he was still more than worth it. Thank you John, you did a fantastic job. We will definitely call you when we have saved up enough money to tackle the next item on our renovation wish-list.

The estimate went fine. I thought that he knew his stuff. He did not spend a lot of time, but I liked the fact that he was direct, to the point and he just went through the house and measured a couple of windows. His price was a little bit higher than some of the other estimates that I received. I understood that he was going to call me about the schedule, and he ended up just dropping by. He said he had lost my number and I did not mind.

John and crew were very easy to work with. There are a couple of things that need to be tweaked and fixed, but overall, the house and garage look fantastic! R&G siding transformed my large 2 family home into a stunning peice of art. My home had old wood shingles that were falling apart, and R&G siding replaced rotted wood and sided over the shingles. I also hired R&G to add a bathroom, but when John was replacing the floor decking on my front porch, he noticed that the porch was unstable and had to be rebuilt. The bathroom quote was higher than the front porch and I could not afford to do both, so with John's recommendation, I decided to have the front porch done instead. I really appreciated his honesty, John could have taken the higher priced job, and left me with an unstable porch, but he didn't. This is a quality that I find very important, I have the utter most respect for John and his crew and would hire him again and recommend him in an instant!

John picked up the phone upon the first phone call and just about each time I called throughout the job. If he did not pick up the phone, he called me back within an hour. He came out to complete an estimate the same day I called and his estimate was much lower than others we received. The other estimates were just for windows and he was able to do the windows and the siding for less than other companies were charging for the windows. We signed a contract the following day and he was able to respect our need to have the work done the first week in September due to our work schedules. John called when the windows came in and made an exact day to come out to start the job. That day was raining so an alternative day was chosen. On the day and time (8am) he was supposed to arrive at our home, he called to say he would not be able to make it that day due to another job he had to finish. After I expressed the fact that our schedule had been re-arranged, (not to mention all of the furniture, including all furniture/ supplies for an infant) he was able to say that he would be able to do a half day and could come at 1pm. This was accepted as a plan but he then called about an hour later saying he could come instead at 10am. John and his employee were able to install all of the windows on day one. A plan was made for the finish work on the windows and the exterior work to be completed two days later. John arrived a half hour after the agreed upon time and stayed until the job was done. The work looks great and he even repaired one piece of siding that was not agreed upon in the contract.

One side of our house had older wood clapboard siding (square nails) than the rest of the house. It was in such bad condition that it needed to be replaced entirely. I got a few quotes from siding contractors I found on Angie's List, and chose R and G Siding because John offered me the best price and was by far the most specific about how his company would do the work, down to listing the materials they'd use, the spacing of the clapboards, metal flashing, what he'd do with the window frames, and so on. This made me feel confident about hiring them. They did a great job, removing the deteriorated clapboards and tar paper down to the old wide board siding underneath, putting up Tyvek paper, stuffing insulation around the windows where it was missing, putting up the new primed western red cedar clapboards, replacing top and side window boards and trim, and then painting it all. It looks fantastic - several neighbors have complimented the way it looks. John and his crew were all very nice and easy to get along with, and they really knew what they were doing. They did the work exactly the way he said they would. I'd definitely hire them again.

John came to give a quote in January. He gave us several choices with the associated prices. He seemed knowledgeable and his quote was in line with the other quotes we got, so we went with him -- we preferred a smaller company like his to a larger firm. He and another worker came promptly on the agreed upon date and time and went straight to work. They were done in one and a half days and cleaned up the work site upon completion. The sunroom now looks like a new addition and we are very happy with the high quality results. I'd use him again for other types of work too.

John answered my call himself and was able to stop by later that same day to give me an estimate. He even called a few times to give me an update as to his time of arrival. After the estimate, he set up an appointment with me to return 4 days later to do the work. Honestly, I assumed he would forget and need a reminder call, since this situation has happened many times with work that I've needed done in the past with other companies. But he called 1/2 hour before he arrived to confirm and was right on time. He was very courteous about whether or not I minded him carrying things up my main staircase or if I would prefer him using the outdoor stairwell. Overall, he was very nice and professional!

They were prompt, informative, and it was a good finish.

The owner was always available by phone or in person to discuss the details of the job and to respond to questions and comments as the work progressed. This was a large job with a lot of details to oversee and different types of skills needed. I was impressed with the results at each phase of the job. As a single parent I was not interested in hiring and overseeing several people to do the different types of work needed on my house. I was thrilled to find R & G Siding who could take a comprehensive approach to doing all the work needed.

It seemed to us that this company is really reasonable and they have reasonable expectations with how you can send in down payments, too. From what we can tell, it would appear they do. Now my husband is the one who interviewed them and met with them, but he said if or when we decide to pursue this particular job, they are probably who we would use. I mean, I'd assume they seemed very professional when they met with him and from what we have heard about them they sound like they do good work and can meet your needs really well.
