Tom was prompt and professional. He and his team were efficient, neat and thorough. In expanding the closet, he had to add a wall, move electrical and all went smoothly. The new shelving is functional and attractive. We are so happy we hired Tom and plan to get him to do some more work.

I was impressed with Tom's responsiveness and accessibility. He immediately responded to any calls or emails. Te rest of his crew were great to work with. They were friendly, professional, prompt and detailed with their work. They graciously accommodated any changes we requested. We will absolutely use Thomas J. Remodeling for future projects.

Thomas and his crewed installed 8 new windows to replace old casement ones, repaired a bay window / window seat which was heavily damaged by water, ?replaced four old doors with new ones, and did assorted plaster work and painting. ?His work was excellent, cost reasonable, and completion very timely. A total pleasure to work with.

This project went very well. A few unexpected issues as always but Tom had practical solutions. His staff worked hard and project finished close to original estimated time. Everyone was very pleasant to work with and we would definitely use Tom again for our next project.

Tom and his crew dug into a complex job for us this spring. We needed a new floor in one room, and four exterior doors installed around the house. We have a large mudroom (250 sq ft) between our kitchen and garage, and which used to have some low-quality laminate flooring. The floor also creaked and had soft spots, leading us to suspect that the subfloor was damaged, too. In phase one, the worked on the floors. Demo was fast, but then they discovered how bad the subfloor was. It essentially had to be redone, so they put down 1/4" plywood, leveler, and then Durock on top of that. Then they cut and laid about 70 porcelain tiles, complete with a light gray grout in-between. The new floor was a huge improvement, and the room already feels more comfortable and contemporary. In phase two, Tom and two of his guys spent two full days taking out four exterior doors -- a front door, a side door, an entry to the garage, and a basement door. We have an old colonial, so there were a bunch of issues that came up. Some doorways weren't square, so they needed to reframe them; with other doors, the manufacturer didn't include all of the hardware. Tom and his crew were very polite and positive throughout the whole process, and took all of our questions in stride. By the time they were done, we had exactly what we wanted: a weather-sealed house with much more attractive entryways! I'm giving a "B" in Professionalism only because sometime's Tom's crew can leave a few things laying around -- they get it all cleaned up in the end, but could probably work a bit more on keeping the work site neat & tidy during the job. Considering what you're likely to get with the average contractor, though, in terms of wild pricing, gruff personalities, and shoddy craftsmanship, this is a very small price to pay because Thomas J Remodeling is great in all of those other areas.

Once again a pleasure working with Tom and his guys. He's done a significant amount of great work for us on our new house. We are currently selling our old house and needed an electrician on short notice to complete some last minute repairs before showing. Our normal electrician was booked solid for two weeks, so I immediately reached out to Tom. Tom responded promptly as always, and his electrician came out to complete the repairs within a day. Tom is quickly proving to be our go to guy for projects large, small, and everything in between. Highly recommend!

The experience was great. From the time of the estimate to completion of the job, Thomas and his team were professional, flexible, and punctual. Communication was also timely and Thomas has no problems communicating via modern methods such as email which I prefer.

I was referred to Tom by a friend. I enjoyed working with Tom from the start. He came over and gave me an estimate as soon as I contacted him, and he was able to start work within a few weeks. I thought his estimate was very reasonable compared to other estimates I received. Tom even tried to help me find low cost options for my kitchen floor by having his floor guy take a look before he gave me an estimate. The work that was done was top notch and Tom was honest and quick to tell me of any unexpected costs as they occurred. Tom sent his guys to work on Saturday to stay on schedule because we only have one bathroom and couldn't move back into our place until we had a functioning bathroom. Tom was also very good at making recommendations and helping me figure out what would look best, and delivering on what I wanted. The work is complete and I'm in love with my new bathroom and kitchen.

Thomas is very professional and his greatest asset is responsiveness. He kept me informed every step of the way and was always prompt at responding to texts or emails. We were under a tight timeline and Tom and his crew worked many long days into the evening to make sure the job was completed on time without sacrificing quality.

Tom's crew of men, Alan and Joey, were both highly professional, exacting workers, courteous and friendly guys to have around the house. They didn't slack for one minute, they plainly knew what they were doing, and the results were beautiful. Alan and Joey did a meticulous job each day of cleaning up the work area at quitting time--always a good sign, in my book. I would recommend this company to anyone in the market for work done to a high standard at a moderate price.

Tom was fantastic and I will certainly use him again on future projects. We had water damaged ceilings after the heavy snowfall. Tom came out the same day I called to draft an estimate. He immediately set my mind at ease because what looked to me like a horrific mess was in fact a 2 on his 1 to 10 scale. And after he opened up the most effected ceiling I could see that he was right. He and Allen finished the work in one day and while Tom was at the house I picked his brain on a few other areas that need attention. He came in lower than his estimate because the damage was not as extensive as I thought.

These guys were great. The water remediation contractor our insurance company sent out only would do the the demolition and water remediation so we needed someone to do the repairs quickly. Tom and his team responded within 24 hours and quickly scheduled an estimate. They recognized the need for us to quickly do the repairs and got it scheduled within a week. The team was very efficient and friendly.

Tom was fantastic! His team was very professional, clean, and everything looked great. Tom was extremely responsive and patient with my questions. I highly recommend Tom to anyone looking for general remodeling services.

Tom did a great job of coordinating a team to conduct all of the jobs in one day. He was responsive throughout the planning and execution, and I look forward to working with him again. I was very satisfied with the quality and price.

Thomas contacted us quickly to understand the scope of work and to schedule the visit. And work was scheduled for a few days later, which we appreciated. One of his workers showed up on time and was very competent. He was very professional and cleaned up once work was done. We will definitely contact them again if needed.

We had a large wooden stove in the main room of our new home. We didn't use it and didn't like how it looked. The hearth came way out into the main floor and had a one year old starting to climb all over it. We didn't know what we wanted to do, but we knew we wanted it gone. I had actually brought in someone awhile ago for an estimate and he didn't even want the job after looking at it. We started contacting people through Angie's list. We received numerous costly estimates from people without even looking at it. Tom followed up by wanting to see the job first, and within a week outlined a very detailed and fair estimate. Tom and his team started when they said they would. They worked very efficiently. I was worried about a huge mess doing the demolition as this was in our main room, and there was no mess at all. The finished product came out great. The estimate did not change and was the final cost. The entire project took about a week. We couldn't be more pleased or recommend Tom enough. I already have him working on an estimate for our next project. He will be the first person we contact for all future projects.

Tom came even earlier than he said he would. Of course, he called first to see if that would work for us. He met with my husband and gave him a ballpark estimate the same day and told him that he would have to email us about scheduling. He emailed me the next day to schedule the work two business days later. We would have had Tom do the work, but a friend of a friend called in a favor to help us out and have a plaster guy do the work immediately. We have several projects for the spring that we will be calling Tom about. Thomas J. provides both professional service and reasonable prices.

It's great working with Tom. He's very responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and doesn't try to up-sell things that are unnecessary. I contacted Tom on a Friday morning, and he called me within a few hours and came to look at the house the same day. He got the first detailed estimate to me after the weekend, and was very patient with me throughout the rest of the week as I made changes to the size and scope of the projects. After finalizing the details and receiving the last revised estimate, and comparing to estimates I received from other contractors, I went ahead and scheduled the work with Tom. Tom ordered the new floors, which were delivered to the house within a few days. While the floors acclimated for another couple of days, Tom came in to remove all of the old carpet. His floor guys had the new HW installed and finished, and the old HW refinished in about 7 days. That was with sand and buff to 180 grit, one coat of sealant, and two coats of polyurethane. They matched the new HW upstairs to the old HW downstairs. Everything turned out awesome and I'm very pleased with the results. About a week after the floors were completed, Tom and one of his guys (Joey, I think), came back to work on the trim, bathroom fans, and stair risers. They wrapped up in four days, the week before Christmas. During this time, Tom was also able to schedule his roof guy (Mike) to come in to do a thorough inspection of the roof (the house has an older roof with a few leaking areas). Afterwards, Tom and Mike talked me through their findings and explained some options for repairs as well as full roof replacement. This was much appreciated since I had previously contacted three other roofers, two of which never responded, and the third had half-assed the inspection and then didn't get back to me until after two weeks, two emails, and a phone call. Tom will be coming back in to replace three windows and finish up some trim work. I also have some future projects in mind and would be more than happy with to continue working with him. Highly recommend.

Tom and his crew did an excellent job with a long list of very different repair items on our new home. I contacted him via Angie's List and he visited our home for a thorough walk-through. We are new homeowners, so we had about 20 things on our list to work on, and he patiently listened as I showed him every item. After getting a clear idea of effort & general expenses, I sent him a prioritized final list of what we wanted done, and Tom sent a clear estimate via email 24 hours later. The project stayed within cost, and the estimated price ended up being the final price. (Since we were on a tight timeline, I didn't bother negotiating -- but I suspect there was probably some wiggle room here or there; and I really appreciated that nothing went over-budget. He also installed an extra light fixture that we sprung on him at the last minute!) Tom did the kitchen back-splash himself, and his crew did all of the electrical and demo work. Then he subcontracted a plumber to install the sump pump and replace a leaky pipe beneath a bathroom sink. Everyone was punctual, clean, and professional. The communication was consistent and prompt throughout the weeks leading up to the project and afterwards. I highly recommend TJR, and look forward to working with them again.

It went very well. I thought the work Tom performed was excellent. His communication and responsiveness was excellent as well. He was definitely one of the better contractors that I have worked with. I also thought he was honest. He suggested that I do not weatherstrip many of the windows because, they were just flimsy windows and the weatherstripping would not do anything. He also found significant water damage around one the exterior doors that had to be fixed. Before fixing it, he contacted me to ask me if he should go ahead with the repairs. The most impressive thing that Tom did was his following up on the work. One of my exterior doors that he fixed did not lock properly. He came back to my house to fix the lock and did not give me a hard time about it. For previous contractors that I have used this act would have been like pulling teeth. Tom was able to find time reasonably quickly and got the job done.

I met with Thomas to obtain an initial estimate... explaining a couple of projects that I needed work on. We met for about an hour. He was pleasant enough, but at times did not really convey a complete sense of confidence around the work. He said he would email me an estimate and to contact him if I didn't hear from him with a few days. In fact I did not hear, so I texted him inquiring about the estimate. He texted back saying he was confused about the what I was looking for exactly. We met for an hour! One would think he would be clear by that point. I did not bother responding...left me feeling really uneasy.

Tom communicated with me in a timely and thorough manner (using text messages) to schedule the work, and stopped by to ensure the scope of work was as expected. The workman showed up 10 minutes early, took great care in masking and protecting all surfaces (appliances, counters, floors). His workmanship was excellent, and blended the new plaster into the existing walls so the repair was undetectable. Finally, he was finished 10 minutes earlier than his predicted 3-hour timeframe, and cleaned up including sweeping the entire area and washing the wood floors and steps to remove all traces of footprints or plaster dust.

Our kitchen was a mess on so many levels. Walls needed to come down; wiring had to reworked; hard wood floors installed; installation of cabinets, stove, microwave and dishwasher; laminate flooring installed in breezeway; painting all around; doors and windows installed; butcher block counters installed; tile work. I have had 3 previous contractors. None have been invited back. I now feel that I have a contractor that I trust and will use again. This project was daunting to me. With Tom I had exactly the right balance of making the decisions I wanted to make and letting go of the rest. He was very helpful and respectful in leading me through decisions and planning. I was impressed with the overall quality and most impressed with the attention to detail, including details that I had not considered. Work was done on a good timeline. I was kept well informed of progress and any changes in plans or costs. Tom was particularly pleasant to work with. I am very glad to have a contractor at last.

Tom was very responsive in coming to my house and supplying reasonable quotes for a diverse set of tasks. He was straight forward in describing what needed to be done and how he would accomplish the job. Moreover, he set up times for the work very quickly and was able to work around some unplanned obstacles (power outage, bee hive). This was my first contact with Tom's business and I would recommend him to others who need repair or remodeling done on their house. I am confident in talking to Tom that, if he didn't know how to do something I wanted, he would not try to spin it to suggest that he did. When I need something done on my new home I will look him up and be confident that the job will be done and done right.

Tom is excellent. A very intelligent guy who knows his trade. Our project started as an exterior door replacement with some siding work. Once demo started, we saw that much more water damage existed than originally anticipated. Tom identified it, and we agreed on the plan. He worked to remove all the water damaged wood around the door and replaced to like new condition. He could have "covered up" the structural damage and stayed on schedule with the original scope of work. As a homeowner, I appreciated the chance to make it right. Tom even rescheduled his next project to make time to resolve our bigger project. We're planning to have him back for several other exterior and interior remodel projects.
