Well, it was a long road, but that wasn’t Tom’s fault. I live in a converted church with a fieldstone foundation, that is partially below grade. Soon after moving in I noticed mold, and then water damage followed. I called so many contractors, companies who specifically deal with water in basements, etc - if I could get a call back, that was a miracle. If I did get a call back, literally no one would even take the time to come take a look at my problem. My issue was clearly more than most people wanted to take on. I found Tom, and he obviously had great reviews. He called me back within 24 hours, and didn’t even flinch about coming to do a site visit. He showed up, developed a game plan, with the caveat that we wouldn’t 100% know what we were dealing with until the walls were opened. Totally understandable. I signed on the dotted line and the work began almost immediately. My walls came down, a bathroom was gutted, floors torn out - and what do you know. I had water absolutely pouring into my walls from my foundation. A total nightmare. Sparing all of the details, we chased the water problem for a long time. Tom was not happy moving forward until we were 100% water tight, and I really appreciated that. We finally got everything patched and dry. Next was plumbing, electrical, spray foam insulation, drywall, tile, flooring, a total rebuild of my bathroom, some carpentry ... you get the idea. It all happened. In summary - Tom and Joey are awesome. The work they do is amazing, the people they work with are all thorough, and so friendly. If anyone said they were showing up, they were there on time. Messes were cleaned at the end of each day. Tom and Joey were easy to communicate with, and generally all around awesome guys. I’m so happy with all of the work performed, and just as valuable - I have peace of mind. Also, my new bathroom is awesome! I can’t thank Tom enough. While I hope I won’t need his services for a long time, I wouldn’t ever hesitate to call him again.

Tom and his right hand man Joey were fantastic. They were able to start the remodel right away. Always cleaned up after each day and was very responsive to all my questions and request. Very professional. Thank you. Love my new kitchen.

Tom, Did a great job very professional and he contacted me on any changes. He gave me a estimate then called to tell me the material was under price from the estimate. I appreciate him talking with me first before ordering the material. I will be having Tom do jobs in the future for me. What I really liked was he kept in touch before doing any work. The work area was cleaned and trash removed after the job was done! He also saved me money with the left over material. I can use for the next deck next year. My wife and I are very happy with the new deck.

It was a little longer than expected but Tom and his team were able to not only complete the project but if something wasn’t done right or if I wasn’t happy, he would make sure it was done right. They were all very respectful and made the long process worth it.

Thomas J and the guys were fantastic to work with. From start to finish - everything was communicated from TJR up to the minute with any problems/change orders. Job site was cleaned thouroughly everyday. Quality work and craftsmanship. Thanks agian TJR, you guys are the best.

The job went well. Tom has an easy and calm way about him. He was on-time and on budget. His subs were all great as well. We love the bathroom.

We hired Tom to install a microwave with an outside vent in our kitchen. Tom was very responsive in estimating and arranging the work. He also gave us useful advice without pressuring us to hire him. The crew was very polite and professional. The job was done on time and without hassle. The biggest reason I would recommend Tom however would be his integrity. When the job was done my wife gave the crew a check for the amount originally quoted. Tom followed up to explain that the work ended up taking less time and to ask for a new check for almost half the amount.

Thomas and his team were very professional, open to my last minute changes and requests. The job took a bit longer than expected but the result was excellent. We have not encountered any problems and ate fully satisfied with the results

We had the pleasure of working with Thomas J. Remodeling on the renovation of the first floor of our home which included structural work, a complete kitchen remodel, woodwork requiring fine carpentry, the design and creation of a custom floor-to-ceiling display cabinet, and additional handyman work including masonry and bathroom grouting. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From day one, Thomas J implemented a system of communication that ensured all were on the same page, decisions made in a timely manner and the project managed effectively. We also had frequent in-person meetings to touch base and discuss any issues that arose. The tradesmen (carpenters, plumber) were talented with a real eye for detail. Working with Tom, our project manager Joey, and the crew was a very different experience than we’ve had in the past with other contractors. Although all home renovations create challenges, we feel that we worked very effectively with them as a team. Tom and Joey repeatedly showed that our happiness was their goal, attending to details, listening to our ideas, and talking us through all our options. We highly recommend Thomas J. Remodeling and would absolutely contract with them in the future should the need arise.

We bought a house that needed a lot of work and Thomas Janowitz is exactly what we needed, a real pro. He was also familiar with some of the peculiarities of the local planning Board and had a good working relationship with them, which smoothed our way considerably. He and his crew have been working on the house for some months now. He’s organized, true to his word and holds his subcontractors to a very high standard. He’s a bright guy, too, and it’s easy to communicate with him. We’ve had an excellent working partnership. Now that the work is done, we're having to paint some of the exterior and the trim. That is ongoing now. He hired excellent painters and he's over at the house checking on them often. His attention to detail and craftsmanship means that everything looks flawless and his design ideas were right on. My husband and I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Tom and his crew were great! We have a small ranch, and it had been probably 35 years since the kitchen was remodeled. We wanted to have a load-bearing wall removed between the living room and the kitchen, in order to open up the space. The kitchen was gutted to the studs and subfloor. We needed a beam installed to replace the wall. We had the old windows removed and new windows installed. We stayed in the house without a working kitchen or living room while the job was done. Tom and his crew made what could have been a very stressful situation pretty painless. All the people who worked in the house were professional, courteous, careful, and cleaned up after themselves. They took the time to make sure things were done right. Tom was great about keeping us informed about the process - who would be coming each day and what they would be doing. If no one was going to at the house, he let us know why. He recommended quality sources for the kitchen cabinets and for the quartz countertop. He had a flooring guy who was able to match the existing wood floor in the living room so we could run the same floor in the kitchen and down the hallway. That saved us about $4000 from the cost of installing all new wood floors. All in all, we are thrilled with our new kitchen, pennisula and the openness of the area now. We want to have our bathroom renovated and as soon as we have the money, I'm calling Tom to come out and take care of that for us.

Tom was extremely responsive from the first email I sent. Each time I needed to communicate something, he shot back a text or email within the hour - very impressive! Initially my husband and I were considering a full bathroom remodel, a new deck, a closet, and a new kitchen counter. When we didn't go with any of those projects, Tom was patient and understanding about our decisions despite putting in time to work up some estimates. Tom's crew was easy to talk with about aspects of each project, they were respectful, and hard working. We appreciated Tom and his crew's professionalism and good work. We highly recommend this company!

We chose to bid out a project on our new home by bringing in 5 contractors to give us quotes. We purposely did not reveal what our budget was because we wanted to give each of them a chance to come in at a fair number to both us and them. Thomas was very prompt. Generally I feel that we had a good meeting with him. He seemed knowledgeable, but did also seem overwhelmed with the scale of the project we needed done. At some point he mentioned that paint for the full interior could be $30,000 which was a little alarming (actual cost now that project is almost done was $10K). So there were some concerns about how his estimate would come in. Additionally, he was somewhat judgmental (at times awkwardly so) about some of our design decisions - like adding a stained glass window to the top of an interior wall. Now that all of those design elements have been implemented we continue to be thrilled with our decisions. At the end of the day, Thomas decided the project wasn't for him. He didn't say why, but I don't think we meshed well together anyway and the project was just simply massive. We ended up going with a contractor who has a lot of experience gutting entire homes. I would consider using Thomas for a smaller renovation like a bathroom or kitchen.

Everything went very well, from demolition to complete renovation. Despite all the numerous individual parts, Tom arranged things to happen in the most timely way possible. I was very pleased since I had given him a very tight window of time to complete the job - about 4 weeks from beginning to end because we had guests coming! All the contractors which came to do their individual parts were thorough, professional and awesome. Can you tell I'm extremely happy with the whole job! I will definitely recommend Tom to anyone interested!

Tom and company did a great job on this project. I spent a lot on this door and finished it myself, so I was very concerned that I hire a pro who would do a proper job and not mar the door during installation. They did a great job. In addition, they had to widen the rough opening to fit the door . The storm was another touchy install, as it was not pre-hung... they had to frame around the door. I'm very happy with their work and recommend them without reservation.

Thomas and his group were wonderful to work with. They were open to our ideas and provided exactly what we wanted. They took time to ensure structural engineering changes that were needed were done properly to provide a safe space. All of Thomas' team were polite, respectful, and detail oriented to ensure that the overall job looked flawless. The were curtious in regards to both our small children and our pet when working. We are thrilled with the look of our new kitchen and would absolutely work with Thomas and his team again.

We fired our original contractor and brought Tom in to complete a siding project. He literally saved the day, responsive and thorough. The work exceeded my expectations. Tom is really pleasant to work with. His subs are equally great, they showed and worked hard and fast without compromise.

Tom managed the whole process seamlessly, has an online proposal and invoice process, and got it done quickly. We will definitely come back to him for other projects.

Thomas and his crew were amazing. Polite, professional and courteous. Never had to complain about messes left after the work day and Thomas and Joe were extra careful to explain the next step in the process, how long it would take, and how the overall project was progressing. And they had to deal with multiple curveballs - starting with the fact that our house is all round rooms (no right angles!) and 5 stories tall. And we weren't afraid to make changes to the original scope of work along the way either. In the end, we're ecstatic with the work they did and have recommended them to several friends in town.

Tom did a great job coordinating all the different providers needed to get the work done before our summer vacation. It was a big job, with lots of potential for hiccups along the way. The team demolished the old kitchen in a day, and proceeded to strip everything back all the way very rapidly. We had a doorway moved at the end of the room for the redesign. We had new wiring, we had significant rework to level the floor and install underfloor heating. There were many lasers to ensure everything was level and true, especially the ceiling, which needed a little extra work than anticipated to make sure it was level. The guys would turn up on time each day, were always friendly and were happy to explain what they were doing. They all cared about the work they did, with a good level of professional pride. The electrical and plumbing contractors arrived promptly when they were needed, and we didn't have to worry about any of the project management that we'd been dreading with the remodel. We chose to install some high quality cabinets from Tom's recommendation, and we absolutely love the result. We had only a couple of minor hiccups along the way, and each time we worked through it with a quick meeting and rethink. We went a little beyond the original scope because we asked for some extra changes, and we really appreciated the flexibility from Tom on accommodating these small last-minute changes.

Work went well and questions were answered in a very timely manner. Even though the weather wasn't very helpful, the team still completed the work without complaint and the final product looks good.
