George and his team gave me a fair assessment of the work, helped with the design (location of switches, lights, outlets), and provide a prompt estimate for the job. Super responsive to questions and easy to work with. George was really accommodating throughout the process - and the results speak for themselves. Excellent work - would hire again.

When the job was complete and he left I tried plugging in the distiller again and it caused another power outage. I called George on his cell and he told me the problem was with the distiller and after going back to the water distiller company and going through tests, it was the distiller that blew a circuit.
Description of Work: Had an issue with our electrical in our kitchen where we were not able to use the stove and it was on a late Monday. I contacted George for the first time and he came out given such short notice. He had to replace GFI in the kitchen outlet. We had him to also switch the light switch plates on the wall.

George and Pat (a) responded promptly to our call and (b) showed up *exactly* when they said they would. They worked expertly and efficiently, finishing the job in a completely reasonable amount of time and, in each case, correctly diagnosing the different causes of the problems. In one case, they simply pointed out that the problem was inherent in halogen fixtures and said it wouldn't be worth our money for them to fix it - we should simply replace the fixture. I should add that they were also both very friendly. We couldn't have been more satisfied - which was the same from the friend who recommended them to us: they're great.
Description of Work: We had several puzzling electrical problems that had popped up: relatively recently fixed/installed gfi sockets that stopped working, 2 different light fixtures that were randomly coming on and off, etc.

It was amazing. I was abroad while hiring AND the on-site service, but felt confident they were keeping in the loop on the phone and answering my probing questions. In the end, my knob and tube seems to be live, and they quoted me a time & materials price, which is hard to get a mass save loan on - but I hope we can figure out a way to work it out and budget for it. Only problem: they broke my key in the lock, but they did notify me so I didn't have a bad surprise when I came home, and could figure out if I needed to secure my house before I was back in the country. In the end, i was able to remove the broken key and didn't deduct anything from my payments since I didn't have to replace the lock.

Exceptionally well. I had another bid that was literally 2x theirs from an electrician I trusted I used before but the bid seemed high. T&G (I think it was George; blanking on that since it was about 6 weeks ago and I'm just getting around to writing this) came over promptly and gave estimate. When they did the work, the did better than I expected, putting outlet in a better place that was not as easily accessible and no extra charge. They did charge a bit extra ($50) because they discovered a junction box in the attic that was dangerously exposed and replaced it too. That didn't surprise me in this 100 yo house (the one next door burned almost to ground from an electrical fire so I was happy to know they did this!). I was very impressed with everything they did and appreciated that I paid so much less than I expected (I'm pretty handy myself so I know what it takes to do this kind of work. I just didn't want to crawl around in the musty, cramped attic space at my age). Great experience!

Excellent, excellent excellent !! George and Pat are the consummate pros. They showed up right on time as promised and seamlessly and quickly solved all of my issues. I even added some items while they were here and they took it all in stride and handled all professionally. Very fairly priced. They happen to be really nice guys too ... which is a bonus. I am so thrilled with now having met them. I will be using T & G Electrical for all my electrical needs in the future and would STRONGLY recommend them to anyone in need of electrical work.

I needed some electrical work done on a weekend. I called about a dozen electricians. Two of them returned my call. George was the only one who made an appt to come visit me the same day. Gave me an estimate over the phone. Showed up on time. Did the job for the estimate. Was very professional and personable. Explained everything as he went along. Thank you George. I will call you again if I need an electrician.

First I want to qualify this bad review by saying I have written at least 3 reviews on angies list for tile restoration, a locksmith, and hardwood floor refinishing. All were 5 star reviews. I am not a serial complainer. I called T&G because it seemed like they had good reviews and when I called I thought their price was reasonable enough. After they said they could help me On June 12th over the phone he asked I send him a text so we could be in contact that way. I did immediately after the call. He wrote he would let me know when they would be available to help me. Just short of a week later on Sunday June 18th I still had not heard back about scheduling a time and asked specifically if maybe they were too busy to take on the job. About an hour later I received a text saying they "will see us Weds, Thurs, or Friday." I wrote back saying I told them I needed some notice as I work and I need to plan for them to come. After that he gave me a definitive day -Friday. I originally requested they come at 8a on the weekday because my bf is getting ready for work at 7:30a. They said that was fine although they preferred to start at 7-7:30a, but then the day before told me they were going to come at 7:30am instead. Ok fine whatever. Not a big deal, just annoying to change the story the night before. On June 23rd George and one other guy arrived on time. They immediately changed out the switch for the garbage disposal which took about 5 minutes. That was fine. The real issue I was concerned about was a recessed light that was buzzing. Figuring this out so that I could have it completed before the condo was rented was my only priority. They took one of the lights down, sort of talked among themselves about it noting that these 10 year old lights were halogen not LED and finding a replacement one might be possible but might take a month to order or they may be able to replace them but the issue was the size of the housing diameter was a little narrower than the typical 4" size recessed lighting. It still wasn't clear to me what the problem was with why it would start buzzing and to be honest I don't think they really knew either. There was only one light of the four that actually buzzed which I pointed out, it but they took down a different one to check that one instead, why I have no idea as it didn't make sense to me. They put back the housing and said they would probably be able to order a new light but it might take a month. I said that was fine because I had 6 weeks to get this done. I made them aware I would be moving out and renting the unit. They said they would figure it out and get back to me and check home depot to see if there was anything they could use without ordering the part. I paid $150 for the hour which they said included fixing the switch and "diagnosing" the recessed light problem. Although it didn't take an hour, I understand the price because they came out and it needed to be worth their while, I gladly paid with the idea that likely within the next few days I would have some sort of solution available and intended to have them back. They told me they would be in touch. After two weeks I still had not heard from them. Late afternoon on Tuesday July 5th I texted reminding them I was waiting for their response. He stated he was "away" and would get back to me soon. Nearly another week went by and in the evening of Mon July 10th I texted again at this point frustrated now that I was less than 3 weeks away from the point I needed to rent. I don't believe they ever checked to see if they could order the part I needed and even if they did they certainly didn't communicate that. I was most mad because they wasted my time. Just as they may be busy, I'm a health care provider with my own business and I'm very busy too. I don't have time for people who run their business like this. $150 is nothing, my time is worth everything. He defended himself saying they diagnosed it. What did they diagnose? I received zero solution. I don't even think they know what was wrong. I explained as a healthcare provider I understand the value of a proper diagnosis. After I diagnose I don't keep it to myself and then never tell my client what is going on or leave them untreated. When I expressed my anger about this the next day he sent me a pic of a 4" recessed LED light saying "with some surgery this could work". So it took 3 weeks to tell me that a standard 4" recessed LED could work? Everyone knows home depot carries these. Not only that there is something called the internet and wouldn't you know, home depot has a website. I wanted this done. I didn't care if I had to pay a good amount for this to get done. I just wanted it done. This was a terrible experience for me and I would never recommend these people. Honestly my belief is that they felt the job on my condo was small and therefore not worth their time and effort and they did not value me as a customer. They will not be getting the job to fix all the electrical on my 3200 sq ft home built in 1890 that I just bought. It needs a lot of work and I'm sure I will run up quite a bill. I'll happily pay double to not have to work with a company like T&G.
Description of Work: I needed a solution for buzzing halogen recessed light for a Jamaica Plain Condo That I was preparing to move out of and rent in approx. 6 weeks. Although I can change out a switch, I decided since they were coming I might as well have them switch out the busted garbage disposal switch too.

George came promptly and looked the project over on a Friday. He said he would be back on Monday and the job would take one day. He and his crew showed up early Monday morning and had the work completed as promised. Both he and his crew were very professional, courteous, answered all of my questions and concerns and they left the work area immaculate! He came back later in the week with the inspector and the job was completed. I have other electrical work I would like done and will definitely be using him again. I would recommend this company without hesitation.

George and his colleague were professional, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. I have found that it is better to work with a smaller firm in which you are working with the owner and/or top notch electricians vs much larger firms that sometimes provide novices who don't have the same insight. I know, everyone needs to learn, but I think a tiered pricing model would be better when sending a new person. I'd pay for the experienced person every time, and will continue to seek out smaller business such as T&G Electrical with the confidence that the job will most likely be done efficiently the first time.
