Dermot and his team did a great job. Very high quality of work - my house looks fantastic. They worked very quickly - I couldn't ask for anything more. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Dermot and crew did a great job on the porch. We called 5 other contractors and Dermot was the only one that got back to me with an estimate. The other contractors were intimidated by the job, Dermot was not, he is very professional, open minded, soft spoken and he is one heck of a carpenter! He went above and beyond in every aspect of the job. He finish one week earlier than the end date, he started the job within the dates he specified. He and his workers worked neat and clean, came at the same time each day they came to work on the porch. The craftsmanship and precision in their work is A+++! He also made a bench for me at the bottom of the porch for no extra charge. I look foward to working with Dermot again in the future.

Highly recommended. Dermot did several projects at the same time for us and they all turned out very well. The quality of work and attention to detail was obvious. Our kitchen did not originally have a dishwasher and garbage disposal. These were both installed and six months later there are no problems. The carpentry work is what really stands out, however, and the care taken with this really exceeded expectations. The dishwasher required that we lose one and a half cabinets. Dermot did this in such a way as to leave us with a functional half cabinet. This required that he cut the cabinet door in half and do some other modifications. It's surprising how he made this strange partial cabinet look like it was meant to be there all along. The work on the basement stairs was simply astonishing. Words won't sufficiently explain the quality of work or how to changed the feel of the basement. Pictures are included with this review. Communication was good. Dermot gave us a target start window and began right in the middle of it. He and his crew worked very hard to finish, putting in long days.

They did some work for me and they were excellent. I was happy with them. It looks perfect; it is very nice. Their price is competitive.

Dermot showed up on time, as agreed, discovered that one of the replacement windows he had brought was broken, let me know what had happened, left to get an undamaged one, and returned very quickly with another, installed both, and they have been great ever since.

Dermot and his crew did an amazing job with our kitchen and dining room remodel. He also removed a chimney though out the entire house and you would never even know it was there. Not only was his work amazing but he stayed right on budget and educated us as we went through the entire process. As first time homeowners it was hard to know what we wanted and what we needed and what we didn?t and Dermot took the time to go through and tell us about everything through the whole project. It was nice to know that he had our back and told us what we should do when we didn?t know. He was very accommodating to the changes we had through the process especially working with our old colonial. We lived in the house through the construction and he made it easier than we thought. Even though we were living in a construction zone he kept everything organized and easily accessible. They were always working even through the awful winter storm we had and they kept the project moving. It was always nice to come home every day and see progress. I will absolutely use Dermot again for any project big or small and highly recommend him.

It was great. Dermot is a man of few words, but is wonderful to work with. He did what he said he was going to do, was very helpful, and timely. I look forward to working with him again.

Excellent service ... punctual, professional, quality workmanship

Two men for two hours, wish it was 1 man for 4 hours. They were polite and professional.

Dermot came by to review the proposed job and gave me an estimate. We talked about a start date and agreed upon an early start the next week. I bought a storm door and appropriate paints. Other supplies were provided by the contractor. The man who actually did the work showed up exactly on time, worked from 7 a.m. until 6 the first day and got most of the job done in one day. Only needed some trim paint for the next day, which I got, and he applied. He showed great care and caution about our furniture, moved it and covered it and cleaned up completely after the job. Everything about this transaction was first rate and I would heartily recommend Royal Contracting to anyone needing this kind of work.

Seemed annoyed at the call. Came by when I wasn't home and left a very brief estimate under my door. No details regarding the work required as I didn't get the chance to show him what I wanted done. It didn't feel right to use this company.

It went well. Dermot was very nice. It was affordable.

He worked constantly, never took a break and kept our home clean. The doors close perfectly and work better than they've worked in 20 years. I'll hire him again.

I was looking to have a new dryer vent installed several floors up my building, in a narrow alley. I provided extensive detail to Dermot over the phone and in email, explaining the height of the installation (30') and providing photos of the location. I offered to have him come by and look at the installation, which he said was unnecessary. He told me he could do the work by mid-December at the latest. On December 20th, he came by to do the work. When he arrived, he was dubious whether he could get up to the installation height, claiming "you said it was 20 feet." Looking at my original email, I very clearly said 30 feet. Eventually, he said he would give it a try. Then he suggested that we take the existing, temporary flexible foil dryer vent and run it through the walls to get to the exterior of the house. Foil dryer venting is completely inappropriate material for permanent, through-wall vent installation. It poses a significant fire safety hazard and is quite fragile. When I expressed concern about this, I got an exasperated "what ever you want to do" from Dermot. At this point, I told him I'd find someone else to do the job. The selection of unsafe material, the lack of preparation, and the attitude that suggested he was doing me a big favor made me uncomfortable with him working on my house.

He gave us an estimate and did the work in the same day. I initially thought the price was high, but he had to work on the window flashing for most of the day (6-7 hrs) so $700 doesn't seem out of line and he even included the parts he had to run out and get. He worked hard, cleaned up and honored the price he quoted us, so we are happy with his service!

I was very pleased. My area of town has rats and the city was worried rats were hiding under my old front stairs. Dermot was very patient with me as I made up my mind to tackle the job and chose modern materials, rather than wood, which raised the price. When one of the boards broke, he even advanced the date for the job, although his schedule was full, since the mailman refused to deliver mail with the broken step. Dermot doesn't say a lot but he works hard and well. I would definitely hire him again.

Dermot was fabulous. He was wonderful and on time. He is neat and also very polite. I trust them in my house and I intend to have them do more work for me in the future.

May honestly be one of the best experiences I"ve ever had with a repair service. The contractor called promptly after I booked the service. They scheduled the appointment within a week, showed up right on time and ready to work. He was knowledgable and efficient. All work was performed expertly and with REALLY high quality. I had been quoted much higher prices for the work performed and told that it would take several days to complete. In fact a company specializing in garage door installation told me that told me that I would have to replace sensor modules for over $300.00. Royal realigned the sensor eyes in about 20 min and its worked perfectly ever since. Simillarly I was told that a door that had not been properly installed during my last remodeling would have to be removed and replaced. Royal was able to reset it so that it closes properly and has no light or air leaks. They also measured the door I wanted a screen door on, and went with me to Home Depot to select and transport the door. Then installed it within 30 mins. I would highly recommend them.

The carpenter seemed nice enough, but his attitude towards the job was lackluster. He seemed pessimistic that he could get the job done, and then when it was finished it wasn't quite right. He had offered to fix it if it wasn't right, but I no longer wanted to work with him. I'll find someone else to fix it.
