Dermot McElligott and his carpenter, Fabio, replaced our fir rear deck with Azek. The work was performed efficiently and masterfully. Fabio was meticulous and ensured everything was perfectly done. He also replaced some cedar boards on our front porch and restrained them. This was our first experience with Royal Contracting and they exceeded expectations. Excellent and professional work. I hope to use them in the near future for remodeling work in our kitchen this winter.

It went well overall. Dermot said what he was going to do, and then he did the work. He was fast, efficient, and the result looks great. The price I paid matched the final price. He does things the right way too, meaning he doesn't cut corners and follows codes etc. I will use him again. You can't ask for more in a contractor than to be fair, honest, and get things done.

We had an unfinished space with walkup stairs above our 2-car garage that we wanted to finish. I had a general idea of what I wanted done, and provided. He provided a detailed line item quote, and I was waiting on another quote from someone else (never received). It appeared high at $18,500...but I didn't really have anything to base that on. I am "El Cheapo," and eventually decided to GC it myself. I used my brother-in-law for carpentry (knee walls, box out chimney, floor, window, and door trim), flooring, and a DIY mini-split installation. All of these things I could NOT have done on my own - I needed his expertise. I hired a roofer for the lone skylight install. I bid out the plastering, gyp and painting. I hired the electrician. The space came out great, and I was involved so there's that satisfaction. But I'm sure the schedule dragged out, and I think I ultimately tallied the costs at around $15k on my own. All this is to say is that at the end of the day, his quote turned out to be quite competitive, and had I gone with him I would have saved myself the headaches of finding the subs and potentially could gotten the project done sooner. I did not go with him, but figured the least I could do is give him credit on his punctuality seeing and submitting competitive pricing on the project. Next project that comes up I'll think of using him.

Dermot and his team were really great to work with. They were prompt, responsive, and consultative through the entire project. Dermot is a great craftsmen and it's clear he takes pride in his work. I highly recommend using him, and he'll be the first contractor I call for future projects.

Dermot and his team are exceptional. Their work is impeccable - right down to the details. I've used Dermot several times for various projects and each has gone perfectly. I had Azec boards installed, replacing my old wood porch floor, front stairs rebuild with Azec with new railings and my back stairs were demo'd and replaced. I would highly recommend using Dermot and his team for any job, large or small, around your home.
