Mike Goodwin has the nicest, most expert crew imaginable, from the people who do the demolition, to the person who replasters the walls; the electrician who installed recessed lighting and a separate electrical panel for all of our new appliances; the carpenters who replace the moldings and hang the cabinets; the fellow he uses to patch and polyurethane the floors so perfectly (that everybody thinks our floors are new); the plumber who is a great guy; and finally the person he used to tile the backsplash which incorporated the french tiles with white solids in a beautiful artful design. They spent six weeks in our kitchen. They were neat, polite, considerate, and cooperative about the few extra things we asked them to do. They work beautifully with Bravo Kitchens, Melrose, from whom we bought our cabinets. The installation was perfect. Wonderful experience. Wonderful people. Anybody would be lucky to work with them.

Mike and his crew did a tremendous job of a major remodeling of our recently purchased home in Melrose in a limited amount of time. I chose Mike because I enjoyed my initial conversations with him and felt that he really thought the project through. He also seemed like he was honest and would be easy to work with (and he was). Work started January 4th, and everything except the kitchen counters was finished when we moved in February 18th. This was expected when we started the project, and we felt that MIke went well beyond our expectations in terms of completing the work on time. We were nervous about the work not being completed by the move in date, especially since we have two young children, but everything went according to or ahead of schedule. I think the reason for this is Mike has a group of subs he's been working with for a long time, and that helped everything go very smoothly. Mike was very responsive to any changes we requested and addressed any problems that came up during the remodeling immediately. Fortunately there were very few. He even threw in a couple extras that I hadn't expected and didn't charge us (finishing a closet upstairs etc.). Mike and his direct employees as well as the subs were very pleasant to work with. We were especially happy with the carpentry and electrical work that were performed. Chris, the carpenter, did a wonderful job of matching all the wood trim work around the windows, doors, and baseboards to the rest of the house. I've also never seen the level of organization and detail that was performed with the electrical work. The electricians actually installed new boards in the ceiling of the basement to run the wiring along. We were also very happy with the quality of the tilework, flooring, plumbing, etc. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the painting was rushed due to the limited amount of time for the remodeling, but the painters came back and touched up anything we requested, and now it looks much better. We really love our new home (thanks Mike!!) and would recommend Mike without hesitation for any remodeling project.

Scheduled to come out on January 26th, 2016. He was professional and punctual, but never got back to us with a quote. One week after the walkthrough, I emailed him asking about the status of the quote. Hi sresponse was that he had gottne backed up on paperwork and that he would have the quote for us by Monday (2 days later). We have yet to hear form him. While we understand that things get busy, a simple "Unfortunately, we are too busy at this time to take on your project" would have gone far. Instead, we just never heard anything.

Unfortunately, after Mike came out a second time, but before we got a detailed estimate from him, Many changes were made to the plan. I kept Mike abreast of these changes via emails (3-4). I thought this would help him create an accurate estimate and plan. He agreed to return with his tile guy to confirm 1 aspect of the job.(barrier free shower & "Infinity" type drain, which he was unsure of). The night before, I received an email from him which remarked about the merits of the design in light of all the changes. Ok. When he came with tile guy, I guess I asked too many questions. He was upset with me, remarked that he had a bad feeling about this job all along, too many changes. He said he felt like I was arguing with him. Honestly, not my intention. They left abrubtly. WOW. So, just consider communication styles and preferences when working with Mike. Don't ask too many questions.

In April, we had a different contractor lined up to do the work, and he quit on us the day he was supposed to begin work. We had 3 different companies out to give us quotes, one of which was MF Goodwin. Mike showed up on time to quote, even texting me before arriving that he was due to be there on time. The quote came in shortly after and was on par with the other quotes we received. Mike said they would begin work on June 15, and they came right at 7:30 am on June 15. Everything ran right on schedule, and each person who came to complete a portion of the job was nicer than the last. From Tom, the foreman, to Aneaus, the tiler, Tyler, the electrician, Tommy, the plumber, and Dan, the painter, everyone was so polite and pleasant to work with. I am absolutely thrilled with the way the bathrooms have turned out, and I highly recommend choosing MF Goodwin for your remodeling projects!

...... mike gave his foreman Chris,a copy of the project description and reviewed the complete job with him. The kitchen was complety gutted, and heavy duty plastic isolated the area from the rooms downstairs.All employees and sub-contractors working for M. F. Goodwin are licensed under their trade.Chris ,the foreman,.started on this project by removing a back window to make room for a vented gas range and microwave hood.The exterior would be patched and painted,the original gas range was not vented and would eventually cause problems.Chris ,Nick and Tom, carpenters who are employees of M.F. Goodwin started to work on the remolding by restuding all the needed walls,insulating and sheetrocking,a partial wall was removed to make room for an island to eat at..After the framing, the plasterer came to plaster the walls and ceiling.The carpenters installed a new oak wooden floor.The next day Kenny Wong of Young,s hardwood floor co. came to polyurethane the floors,after the floors dried a covering was installed to protect the floors,he returned after the job was completed and applied 2 more coats of polyurethane. The two plumbers started to relocate the gas piping for the new stove and install new piping for the dishwasher,,garbage disposal and new faucet.Tom and Scott(plumbers) also drained the boiler before removing the radiator that was previously below the window,lastly they replaced the old water main shut-off valve that was defective,this replacement saved me from having severe problems in the future,under the circumstances of .such a small area they did a fantastic job.Tyler, the electrician came to update the electrical side of the job by rewiring all of the kitchen,consisting of wiring for the appliances ,the microwave hood,gas stove, dishwasher and garbage disposal also installing four recessed lights ,two pendant lights ,added three new outlets .A sub-panel was added in the basement to the main panel to allow for the added wiring,the new lighting accentuates the new layout 0f the kitchen and the fine detail of the cabinets..The countertop was delivered and installed, we were surprised that it came in one piece .the stone people did a fantastic job on the countertop .Next, Carlos came and installed the selected subway tile,he did an excellent job ,was on time and cleaned up,as all the other workers did who worked on this project ,.lastly the appliances were delivered and left in the garage until needed.the cabinets doors were installed and the appliances were inspected and positioned in their respected places.Lastly the painters came and painted their areas.We were very pleased with the final outcome and the continuity of all the workers involved to complete the job .Mike identified a problem with our chimney that has been an ongoing . he put a ladder to the roof,took photes and showed us the problem and gave us a name of someone he uses that could correct the problem .the recommendation was excellent.Also ,Chris corrected a problem from a vented pipe that was leaking for years un be known to us that originated from the roof of the house.,this observation also saved us from future problems.I. would not hesitate to have mike or any of his employees or his subcontractors to due work for us in the future,they are all talented ,sociable, do excellent work and have a good work ethic.

Mike was very pleasant to interact with upon our initial meeting. Unfortunately, Mike never provided a quote, even after he promised one several weeks later, and I followed up several times throughout the summer. It was my mistake to put too many eggs in that basket, but I wasted many weeks waiting for a quote from him. Eventually, it became apparent that I'd need to move on. While contractors are swamped with projects right now, they have been professional enough to decline the work from the get go due to their backlog of work. Its regrettable that Mike did not do the same.

Unfortunately Mike was not able to provide us with a quote. After a lengthy turnaround we finally had him come to our house to look at the project. While he was incredible nice, helpful and listened to all of our requests, that was the end of it. We reached out several times over the next month and never heard back about a quote.

We are extremely pleased with the work performed by MF Goodwin. Mike and everyone who worked with him were very skilled and pleasant to work with and very responsive to inquiries. They also took great care to ensure that the rest of our house was unaffected by the work and cleaned up after themselves. The work began and was completed on schedule. We are thrilled with our new kitchen and would definitely use this contractor again.

In late 2014 we determined that we wanted to do a complete remodel of our kitchen in Marblehead, including taking out a wall between the dining room and kitchen. We got our kitchen design plan and purchased our cabinets through Bravo Kitchens in Melrose, they worked with Mike and his crew on many projects collaboratively and recommended them. After we agreed on a kitchen plan with Nick and the folks at Bravo Mike came by to take a detailed look at the work to provide a quote. The work was originally quoted at $18,000 but due to unforeseen complications with the electrical work (it was much more complicated that originally thought) as well as some additional work needed on the walls and beams we ended up closer to $24,000 but the final quote was fair and in line with the quality and time spent on the project. Mike and his crew completed the project over a two month period in February and March and were very professional and kept right on their timeline as previously provided. They showed up every day on time and the crew that worked for Mike were really nice guys, were great communicators and Mike was always easy to reach. His subcontractors were also great to work with and actually helped out on a few unrelated plumbing issues that we had in the bathroom. The wood floor guys did a tremendous job and you could hardly tell where the new versus old wood floors started/ended. Mike and his guys were very helpful in helping us think about placement for lights, hardware and other things we did not think through and the overall result was a kitchen that looks terrific and a completely different layout in our home that will absolutely increase the value of our property. I would highly recommend the MF Goodwin folks for any kitchen or bathroom work. Absolutely exceptional.

This bathroom replacement is the first major project I hired an outside contractor to do. Great experience from beginning to end. From the first meeting with Mike, quote, discussion re best options to replace bathroom to scheduling, selection of bathroom fixtures, demolition, carpentry, plastering, electrical, tile, plumbing and paint,, all work accomplished timely, contractors, completed each segment of this project professionally. Reviewed each phase with me for approval, work site cleaned daily, trash removed, floor protection put in place to protect surrounding floor areas. I am so pleased with the new bathroom, have received many compliments concerning this project. I will be using MF Goodwin in the near future for additional home improvements. Thank you to Mike and all his staff for a job well done.

We did a complete remodel of our kitchen, taking it down to the studs, and replaced everything. We also repainted the dining room and half bath which adjoined the kitchen. Mike Goodwin's crew were professional from beginning to end. The quoting process went very smoothly, and we found Mike Goodwin to be an honest and straightforward person. All the people on his crew were friendly and performed very good work. They paid attention to details and accommodated us in every respect. I work from home, so remodeling projects such as this was very disruptive. However, the crew was respectful and did what they could to minimize disturbance. We added items to the scope of work and asked for some things to be redone. Mike accommodated us with each item, even after they were paid in full. We were so satisfied with their work, we hired them again to replace our storm doors too. We highly recommend MF Goodwin and would use them again in the future without hesitation.

Mike and his crew were great to work with. Pleasant and professional and always showed up when promised. Mike was referred to us by our kitchen designer, Bravo Kitchens (see seperate review). We did a partial kitchen upgrade where we kept the cabinets but replaced countertop, sink, appliances etc. So Mike had to come in several times to prepare for other trades or deliveries. Schedule was tight and no other work was delayed. Most critical was the initial prep for delivery of a new stove. Nothing is square in our kitchen, so Mike's guys were careful to do the best they could and the new stove slid right in. Then they came back to remove the countertop and did so without damaging anything else. After the new counter was in, Crew came back for some finish trim work and his plumber came in to connect new sink, faucet, disposal. We were most impressed with Mike because this certainly was not the biggest project for him, but he was attentive to the schedule and gave us prompt attention so the project was completed in a timely manner.

We have used Mike before so we knew the quality of his work. He came to the house and reviewed the project and gave us some excellent suggested changes. He drew up some rough plans to clarify the scope. He walked the town inspector through and obtained the permit. Mike uses great subcontractors - tile setters, plumbers, etc. He was able to schedule them with his own workers to keep the job moving. We were on a tight schedule and Mike promised he would do all he could do to meet our move in requirements. He was able to meet them so we could move in as planned. I have to mention Mike became ill during this project and was hospitalized but his crew was able to carry on and stay on schedule! His estimate and invoices were clear and accurate. We requested some non-contract items and the final invoice explained each cost in detail.

Considering this was our first home renovation project, my husband and I were nervous... from the very beginning Mike put us at ease, he answered a thousand questions without delay... he and his crew were prompt, polite, clean, and considerate - they even allowed use to shower throughout the entire project!!! we could not be happier with the service and the results are amazing!!! I would definitely recommend MF Goodwin Co to anyone seeking great results for an affordable price!!

We were very happy with the work that mike and his crew did. They were professional and worked hard to complete our bathroom in a timely manner. Mike was available to answer our questions and issues, he went above and beyond what we expected. The ending result was the work was exceptionally well done and we love our bathroom.. We will be using mike for our kitchen remodel when the time comes.

Mike came by ..for my free estimate..... I had 2 bathrooms that needed to be remodel....my 2nd floor I wanted a partial ..My 1st floor...a full remodel. He showed me pictures on his IPAD ...very nice....He said he only does full bath remodels....to the studs....He asked me what I expected to spend....I said, Not sure, was hoping between 9 and 11 grand ( of course keep in mind, I have 2 bathrooms and I wanted renovate 2nd floor, without ripping out completely.).He then stuck his neck out and said, this would cost 14,000.00!!!...I just listened!.. I then showed him my downstairs bathroom....complete gut out .....upon exiting my home, he walked off my front porch without looking at me and said he would send an estimate by email the following week. . .and would give me a break for the 2 bathrooms. I anxiously waited.NO EMAIL.....I kept checking ....NOTHING!... Then I emailed him.....NO RESPONSE.. When I Look back, he was not friendly, poor demeanor altogether......no smiles.... Did not even seem to care in the least........ TO EVERYONE OUT THERE.....LOOKING FOR REMODELING.... ........................DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS CONTRACTOR PERIOD!!. ... ......

It went great, as all our projects with Mike have gone. His carpenters are courteous, friendly and professional. They care about the finished product.

From the first day Mike saw our project he had the foresight and experience to point out some, although minor, but important changes such as installing a solid pocket door for increased sound barrier and moving the stand alone vanity away from the wall. His crew was amazing and everyone (plumber, electricians, and carpenters) came when scheduled. Despite hiring him during an BUSY time he squeezed our project in, and we are so grateful, since we were sharing our bathroom with our kids and guests!! No to mention it looks fantastic!!! I'd hire him again as we had a wonderful experience and would rate his overall performance >10/10. I've already given his brochure to a friend. Thank you Mike and crew for coming to our rescue and making our bathroom fantastic!!

Mike helped guide us through the planing application process as well as recommend a landscaper. His team were polite, on time and professional. We highly recommend Mike.

Contractors were very professional, easy to work with and very informative. All work was completed as scheduled. The shower remodeling experience was excellent, I highly recommend Mike Goodwin.

Honest and manages to budget with quality work.

The work was completed in a timely fashion with excellent quality workmanship. There was a problem with our new corner glass shower not being sealed properly, but this was corrected quickly. Mike always responds right away to calls and concerns. He was flexible to achieve what we wanted. We fveel comfortable reccommending him to anyone.
