We needed a full kitchen remodel, and interviewed a number of kitchen designers and contractors to make sure we got it right. Mike's estimate was a bit higher than others, but he explained to us how the extra work would make sure our kitchen was safe and done correctly. We had a good feeling from him from the start, and we sure are glad we went with our gut! These guys were worth every penny. The kitchen turned out even better than we could have imagined. Any time we ran into a snag along the way they were responsive, and quick to troubleshoot. We ended up doing the demo ourselves to save some money, all the way down to the studs. Mike came over and walked through everything with my husband ahead of time to make sure they were on the same page for what was expected of demo. His team taped everything off, covered up our floors, and dropped off a shop vac and air purifier to help. They were in to start construction a day after demo was complete, fully rewiring the kitchen, then putting up new drywall, a new window, ceiling, installing can lights, cabinets, crown molding, kitchen floor, appliances, whew! I still can't believe it took less than 2 months. Absolutely recommend. Posting the before and after pics!

Mike and his team were all great to work with. Everything from demo to skim coating to the referred painter were great to work with and provided excellent service. The end result is fantastic and exactly what we were looking for.

Mike and his team redid our kitchen for us late last year. It was a total gut job, and the result was a complete transformation. It went from a dated, ugly kitchen with ancient cabinets and red linoleum countertops to a beautiful, modern space - we absolutely love it. We were told the job would take approximately six weeks, and it was totally done and functional in seven, so more or less on time. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and professionalism of the team. All in all, it was a positive experience and we'd definitely work with them again.

Mikes crew made this remodel less stressful than any of our remodels. Chris always informed us of the wks schedule and was always at our home promptly . Very pleasant team to work with able to question process always professional.

We were very happy and love the outcome . Mike was suggested to get a quote from Bravo Kitchens. All the tradesman were professional and so pleasant. It was started and done in approximate time quoted, We added a door therefore adding a wk. Would recommend and would use Them again. Chris was great along with rest of team..

I contacted this contractor by phone and then about a week later via their website contact form. (Sometimes a call gets missed, no big deal). I never heard from them. I can't rate this company other than responsiveness. If they are too busy to take on work that's fine, just let me know. They have a lot of good reviews, so I was hoping this company would be a good hire, but perhaps they are not working in the winter? As a side note, I don't like that Angie's list doesn't have a third option on the "would you hire again"...how do I know if I've never hired them in the first place.

We gutted our kitchen two weeks after having a baby. If a kitchen/bathroom renovation and a newborn (and a puppy…) sound like a bad combo, you’re wrong—at least not when you are working with MF Goodwin. We couldn’t have picked a better team to let into our home during a very…transitional…time to deliver a truly life-changing kitchen. Our very old, very outdated, and very peculiar space has been completely re-imagined and it has transformed the way we use our home. Mike and his team were really wonderful to work with. They are hardworking, dependable, considerate, and just really good people. Timeliness and great workmanship are of the utmost importance on a big renovation. But when you open up your home, you also have to think about the people you are inviting in. And Mike’s team did not disappoint. We definitely recommend them and planning on tackling another bathroom project with them soon.

What can we say? Only excellent on every aspect of our condo renovation. Kitchen and 3 bathrooms were beyond our expectations. Thru Mike, worked with Nick at Bravo kitchens in Melrose. Nick's designs made a tiny kitchen big and open. Chris (carpenter) has the percision and attention to detail and offered many design options. Loved working with him! Everything was perfect from finish to end. Mike and his crew are very talented in each of their respected fields and all were a joy to work with. We hired M. F. Goodwin to work on our kitchen and bathroom remodel, and upon completing the project, it’s clear that we made the right decision. We met Michael through Nick at Bravo Kitchens in Melrose, MA (also highly recommended). They have been working together for over a decade, and they are in contact daily, which benefited us greatly because there was no confusion about the drafted plans. And, when there was a problem with one of the cabinets we ordered, it was solved without my involvement. I barely even knew it happened. So, by working with them both, you truly are a part of a team effort. Michael and his build team were a pleasure to have at the house. Focused on excellent service, they were extremely considerate and friendly, which is especially important to someone like me who works from home. The quality of their work was high quality, and they were very accommodating when we made requests, no matter how odd. Plus, they took the time to clean the job site every day, which is unexpected and extremely appreciated. Michael was available via text message at any time of day or night too, which is wonderful. Also, I should mention that we finished on budget, despite a few surprises after demolition. When you hear the phrase, “I’ve never seen anything like that,” coming out of the mouth of your contractor, you expect a huge additional expense. Well, that wasn’t the case here. It’s clear that Michael’s priority is to make the homeowner happy and satisfied, and not to make a few extra bucks on unexpected work. I don’t have a ton of experience working with contractors, but from what I do know, this is rare. If it’s not already obvious, I would highly recommend Michael and his team to work on any home renovation. We trusted his team with our house (and dog), and have no regrets. When we are ready to tackle our next big (or even small) project, we will definitely be calling M.F. Goodwin.

We updated our 28 year old kitchen with modern cabinets, floors and appliances. Mike Goodwin and his crew were one of 3 proposals we received and we're very glad we picked him. Mike is a very personable guy and his on site man, Chris, was terrific. They were great at handling the unforeseen and dealing with minor changes along the way. Mike worked closely with Nick at Bravo Kitchens (Melrose, MA) on the kitchen cabinet ordering and design. We paid for the cabinets directly from Bravo Kitchens, and bought our appliances, granite, and tile separately. Mike coordinated everything to bring it all together. One of our appliances was dented by a subcontractor, and to his credit, Mike arranged for the appliance part to be replaced so that it's good as new. We're happy to use Mike Goodwin again for our household projects.

I scheduled an estimate on 3/11/17 with Mike Goodwin. The job was to include a complete renovation on a small half bath and a new floor and vanity in another half bath. Mike came to our home and was very friendly, informative, and seemed to be the type of person we would feel comfortable with to hire for this job. Mike said that he could begin the work at the end of April and would send the estimate out the following week. We also asked him to send his measurements for cabinets and tile along with a list of recommended vendors for these items since we would be responsible for purchasing them prior to construction. After a week and a half went by without receiving the estimate, I texted Mike to see what the delay was. He texted me back saying that he was catching up with paperwork and would send the estimate later that day. I received an email of the estimate but no measurements or vendor list. Even though I felt the price was high I decided to go with Mike based upon some of the positive reviews on Angie's List. I called Mike the following week and left a voicemail at his business number, telling him I wanted to accept his offer. After a week went by without a response, I texted Mike asking him if he got my message. He texted back saying he did not receive my message and I responded asking him to call me. He did call me back and I asked him if he received my voicemail and he said he never received the message. At this point I was getting an uneasy feeling but I decided to move forward and I told Mike I wanted to accept his offer. He told me he would "pencil" me in to his schedule and now the start of the job was pushed out from the end of April to the end of May. I asked him about a formal contract and he mentioned something about signing that when the work starts. I thought that this was unusual because as a former contractor I would have a customer sign the contract once the offer was accepted and schedule them accordingly. I again asked him to send his measurements and vendor list which he said he would email later that day. I never got the email. It is now July and I haven't heard a word from Mike. I refuse to chase a contractor to take my money especially when it appears that he had no intention to follow through on this job. I have a hard time believing the positive reviews on Angie's List especially after the complete disregard and unprofessional behavior I have experienced.

I hired Mike Goodwin based on work I had seen in my neighborhood and what my bathroom designer recommended. My wife and I met with Mike to review the projects, the budget and timing. Mike, his team and subcontractors were neat, timely and on budget. When there were challenges, Mike helped get us back on track. The quality of the subs was excellent. The quality of the work was as well. I'd HIGHLY recommend Mike Goodwin.

Weeks went by without receiving the estimate promised, we made contact with mike asking if he would have the estimate any time soon as we were trying to make our decision and he said by the end of the weekend. Needless to say, that never happened and we went with someone else. In the end, the estimate was never delivered. Waste of time.

These guys are total professionals and the guys who work for Mike are great guys to boot. The job was done quickly and professionally and the results exceeded our expectations. The price below reflects what we paid M.F. Goodwin for the contracting job - does not include cabinets or appliances.

It went very well, as always...completely done in 1 1/2 days. The skylights look great...nicely done. Team worked great together....very professional and courteous. Everything done, including the cleanup of property. I've hired this company, for several projects at my home, including new bathroom; upstairs new closet; constructed from the ground up a screen porch, including a full back of the house deck, approximately 720 square feet, and the 192 square feet, under the screen porch; all painted and new electrical outlets inside and outside. All projects were completely and professionally done to our complete satisfaction.

We enjoyed working with Mike's team and subcontractors. The entire crew was professional. The results have been worth all the time and effort. We would definitely use Mike and his team again. When our elderly neighbor asked for help installing a new light fixture, Tyler made time to help him.

It was almost a year since the appliances were installed and I received a note from the appliance dealer saying that the warrantees were about to run out and did I want them to come check them before that. So they sent a technic to do the work. I told him that I was having a problem with the doors of the Sub Zero not closing properly and he said that the refrigerator had not been properly installed. I called Mike and he sent Chris out to check it but could not do too much about it he said because the plug was in the way. I called the dealer again and told him that. They came back and checked all and found out that it could not be set back properly because the outlet had been placed in the wrong place. Mike said they would come back when he had an opening and fix it. It has been a few weeks since and they have not come yet. Will review again after they come to fix the problem.

Mike was a pleasure to work with, as was Tom, his carpenter. He brought in teams of plumbers, tilers, plasterers, painters, masons, and an electrician, all of whom were courteous and did high-quality work. The work lasted for about 5 months, and except for one blip when the plasterers were delayed for a week, things went very smoothly. The results were spectacular. Everyone who has seen our house since the work was done has been greatly impressed. Mike was mostly quite responsive to emails/texts, though there were times when he did not respond right away. The work began in mid-January and went on until May, and there was definitely a difference in the responsiveness as we moved into the warmer months and what I assume was the busy season, but we were very happy overall with the work and the experience.

Both projects went great. What I most appreciated was that once the work was started they kept the project going through completion. The whole team was very helpful and professional. I would highly recommend them.

Had been calling the contractor for 3 weeks. No response. He lives up to the contractor stereotype, I would avoid him.

We bought a new home about a year ago and needed a myriad of construction done, including structural repairs, deck replacements and interior remodeling. We wanted to have one contractor handle everything. Based on a neighbor’s recommendation, we chose Mike and his team. Mike’s crew worked with us over a period of six months, on both inside and outside projects. We are extremely happy with all the work they have completed. When unexpected problems arose, Mike always had a solution. Furthermore, he always tried to keep costs near his original quotes. In particular, our new kitchen and laundry/bathroom are absolutely beautiful and custom designed. Finally, not only does Mike’s team do excellent work, but they are nice people, willing to lend a hand. Thank you Mike, Chris, Nick and Tom for a thoroughly professional job and lending a hand even when it wasn't your job.

Mike and his crew did a great job remodeling our outdated bathrooms. Also we were very impressed with the quality of work of his tiler, plumber, electrician, and painter. Mike gave us many ideas how to improve our project right from the start. He addressed any concerns that we had throughout the whole project. In addition to being very professional, he is also very easy to deal with. We will definitely call Mike again when we have our kitchen remodeled.

Mike and his crew made what could have been a very difficult project very easy for us. We had moved to Michigan in 2013 with me travelling back and forth to spend 1 week per month in this house while working in Boston. While the house was unoccupied in early 2014 we had a furnace failure and some pipes froze and burst, completely destroying our existing kitchen and ruining a bathroom wall and the dining room floor. When we engaged Mike for this project we were getting ready to put the house on the market as we were no longer going to be travelling back and forth from Michigan. I thought I would have go back to Massachusetts a lot during the project, but not so. We were able to do just about everything by phone or e-mail. When the cabinets were delivered and someone needed to be there to take delivery, Mike took care of it. Same for the appliances and a couple of additional items that needed to be ordered and delivered. When the winter of 2015 proved to be one of the worst of all time, Mike took care of keeping the driveway and sidewalks cleared. When the job was finished we went back to check it out and arrange for the rest of our possessions to be moved out of the house. The finished kitchen looked unbelievably good, especially considering the state it was in at the start of the project - bare studs and floor. The workmanship was wonderful, and after a couple of minor touch-ups on some painting we were completely satisfied. Three months later our house went on the market and within 2 days we had 10 offers that were all above our asking price. The house sold for about 27% above asking price, and I'm convinced that was in large part due to the beautiful new kitchen. I would wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend Mike's company to anyone who needed kitchen remodeling or other carpentry work done. He's the best contractor I ever worked with, hands down. I only regret it's taken be so long to get around to posting this review.

Mike Goodwin has the nicest, most expert crew imaginable, from the people who do the demolition, to the person who replasters the walls; the electrician who installed recessed lighting and a separate electrical panel for all of our new appliances; the carpenters who replace the moldings and hang the cabinets; the fellow he uses to patch and polyurethane the floors so perfectly (that everybody thinks our floors are new); the plumber who is a great guy; and finally the person he used to tile the backsplash which incorporated french tiles we purchased with white solids in a beautiful artful design. They spent six weeks in our kitchen. They were neat, polite, considerate, and cooperative about the few extra things we asked them to do. They work beautifully with Bravo Kitchens, Melrose, from whom we bought our cabinets. The installation was perfect. Wonderful experience. Wonderful people. Anybody would be lucky to work with them.
