This is one of the nicest and fair priced business's. Ed tries to make people happy and do a nice job. He was always on time or called to say he would be there when he could. His helper is a nice guy to. I was very please with all the work they and would recommend them for everyone. They also clean up after each job. I have some more jobs and will call them soon. You won't be disappointed with this company.

We were in a bind and he was able to come out and start the job fairly quickly. This was the reason we were ok paying the higher price. We had a few other estimates that were at least $2,000 cheaper but they couldn't come out for weeks. His ideas were great and he was punctual. Unfortunately the finished product not so great. He had a worker do most of the job. We had to have him rip up some of the tile floor because it wasn't even at all. Now we have no extra floor tiles and can not buy them anymore since they were discontinued. So if a tile breaks we are screwed. When he installed the wall tiles in the shower area I had to ask him to redo the entire front wall because all of the tiles were crooked and didn't match up with the other walls. This was particularly annoying because we had the square tiles installed in a diamond pattern which he complained about the whole time. He did fix the tiles but now we are out money for both floor and shower tiles for a project that was already overpriced. After the job was done I had to go back in and repaint ALL of the trim since you could see most of it hadn't even been touched by the paintbrush! The grout work is horrible, you can see spots everywhere where the grout is missing because it wasn't done properly by his lackey. The floor is still very uneven and I just know we are going to end up with cracked tiles and no way of replacing them! We had also said we were replacing the doors in the bathroom when he came to do the estimate. In the middle of the job he tried to worm his way out of installing the new doors because he said the work for that is hard and he would have charged more!! In the end we have the bathroom door installed but no door on our linen closet! We were never told that he hired out help and would not be present for most of the project. The only good thing that he did was the new window frame which we had him copy from another room in the house. Will not be calling him again which is too bad because he seemed like a really nice guy and had some great ideas. Clean up the business side of things and be more present at the job site and he might actually have a promising company. * In response to the message from Eddie Mac's. We never walked on the tile floor. It was not level because it was not installed right. We agreed on the original price which magically became a higher number. You did not complain in the email about the tile in the tub. It wasn't until you got the job that your true colors came out. The paint quality isn't what was wrong. Your guy only did one coat and it was sloppy and missed half of the trim. Most of the trim had NO paint on it at all! You were in such a rush at the end because as you told me "your wife was nagging you to go to NY to visit her family and you really didn't want to go but she would kill you if you didn't"! The job already had taken more time and more money than the original estimate and as this is our only full bath I just paid you and sent you on your way. We fixed most of the problems but the grout work is something we are stuck with. You were not there often enough to "oversee" much of anything.
Description of Work: We had gutted our main bathroom and a family emergency came up so we couldn't finish the project. Eddies company did everything except the plumbing and electrical which we hired our own contractors for.

Response from EDDIE MAC'S HOME IMPROVEMENT LLC
Dear Member, We appreciate your feedback, however we are confused about your dissatisfaction, as this is not our impression after we left the job. In all of your emails, you expressed yourself in a positive manner and not once addressed any concerns about our work, pricing or quality. Each email indicates that you were grateful for our quick response in addressing your questions and providing a quote and also a "go ahead" to do the work as agreed. It was certainly unfortunate that your tiled floor had to be redone. However, we had provided you full disclosure of the risk of walking on the tiles prior to drying for 24 hours. When we arrived the following day, we noticed the tiles were shifted significantly and we immediately addressed the problem at no cost. (A loss of half day's labor at $65 an hour) As far as the tiled wall, this was addressed in our agreement in the emails to do the exact pattern you wanted. We priced it and did everything as indicated. As seen in email on August 1, 2012: "Waterproof tub tile area, tile on diagonal and grout" Nowhere in the email did we complain about doing the tiling. With regards to the paint, we suggested for you to use Benjamin Moore which from our experience does the best coverage on trim. It is more costly per gallon, however, only 2 coats are needed. Normally for less expensive paints such as Behr or Glidden, they require more coats of paint which means more on time and materials and we only quoted for 2 coats of paint in our agreement. Again, this was fully disclosed to you in our conversations. We are a home improvement company, which means we have several employees working for our company. I personally oversee all the projects and occassionally will do the work as I believe in providing best personal quality to the job. We thank you for your business and wish you best of luck in your future projects. So we will buy the paint, tile, grout, and molding. Anything materials wise I am missing? If there is a specific brand for anything we would need to buy just let me know! How much more is it to have you do the paint and trim? Spoke with our plumber and he suggests we do not move the heat out to allow the drywall to go down to the floor. He agreed with you that that is normally how it would be done, but he thinks it could cause more of a headache for us than it is worth at this point. I tend to agree with him on that point. It was always like that and we never had a problem with it, esthetically or otherwise. Again thanks so much for the quick responses! I have Eddie on two projects. The first is completed. It was a shed demolition, not his area of expertise. Because I hired him for a new shower installation and tile floor project, I asked if he could help out. He had a fantastic reference for a demolition guy. Eddie acted as general contractor for the project, getting appropriate permits, checking electrical and demolition quality, and finishing the job with a level of quality that I expect and admire. His timing, response, pricing, and attention to detail were superb. I expect similar results on my shower project. Recommend highly!
Description of Work: Prepared permits. Removed electrical. Demolished the shed. Removed all debris. Laid down loam. Patched neighbors fence.

The porch looks great. The custom made screens fit perfectly so I will be able to enjoy it and not be eaten alive by mosquitoes. Ed also put in a screen door after adjusting a too large doorway. Ed was responsive, punctual and professional . I've had some bad experiences with workmen not calling back or making an appointment and just not showing up. I will definitely use Eddie Mac again and recommend him to friends and family.

Eddie and his helper did a great job for us. They initially did a one day punch list then we started to discuss a bathroom project. I was very impressed with his honestly, promptness and work on the punch list that we decided to move forward on the bathroom project. After a brief discussion, we agreed on a price and what was included in the price. He showed up every day on time and stayed on the job throughout completion. The bathroom came out awesome and Eddie made it a point at the end of each day to clean up after himself! We gladly call Eddie again if we need work done.

They were so nice it was great. I called Ed about a bulkhead I needed replaced. He called back in 20 minutes and he came the same day to measure the bulkhead. He came back the same day with the estimate. My opinion of Ed and his co-worker is very pleasant, constantly worked to finish the job, courteous, above all on time and cleaned up the area when the work was completed. The bulkhead came out perfect, I will be sure to call him again. I had a lamppost at my garage that had a panel of glass broken for two years. Ed went out of his way to replace the broken glass at no extra cost or labor as he went to the glass company to have it cut and replaced it himself. Yes I will call him again it was a pleasure.

Ed did an excellent job remodeling my bathroom. I originally wanted to use accent tiles left from a previous remodel, which presented a big challenge, but Ed was very patient in trying to accommodate my design. Eventually he helped me to see that choosing a new accent tile and design would make the most sense. He was professional and courteous throughout that process and was always respectful of my choices. There were a couple of very minor problems but he immediately corrected them and even completed several things that weren't originally included in the estimate. He and his helper were good at keeping the dust contained and they were very considerate of the other condo owners in the building. Ed paid careful attention to all the details throughout the remodel and the finished bathroom looks absolutely beautiful. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor - in fact, I am planning to remodel my kitchen later this summer and I have already hired Ed for that work as well.
Description of Work: Ed completed a bathroom remodel for me. The remodel involved new walls and paint, new floor tile, new bathtub and new tile surrounding the bathtub/shower. We replaced the wall heater and fan. We also moved the light switch and fan switch from the hallway into the bathroom.

It went well. The installation of the new shutters took longer than expected, due to second siding underneath our vinyl siding, and we agreed to pay a bit more for the extra labor time needed. One door needed adjusting and he came back the next day and fixed it. He was here when he said he would be here and had a nice young trainee along both days. Overall, we are very happy with the results.

I liked Ed immediately--he took the time to really go over each aspect of the job, explaining how he proposed to fix things and complete the project. Some contractors might not have been willing to pick up where another guy left off, but Ed wasn't intimidated by this. His initial estimate was in the ballpark and so I gave him the job. The date we'd agreed for him to start ultimately didn't transpire...he sent an email the day before and said he would have to postpone. The second start date also didn't work out as he canceled that morning due to rain, although the project was indoors. Granted, he didn't realize that I had already spent time clearing space so that he could setup his equipment inside the basement, and when I told him that, he agreed to come the next day, and did. Ed did a great job with everything he worked on and I am very pleased with the overall quality of his work. He did all sorts of extra, random things that weren't part of the original scope of work including hanging special brackets on a concrete block wall, etc. No matter what I threw his way, he was happy to do it. And he was also very helpful in arranging the disposal of leftover materials. Ultimately, the project took a little over four full days of work and was completed within a total of two weeks. The only issues I had related to scheduling but that was minor in comparison with the good quality of work and Ed's willingness to tackle the project. I would certainly call him again if I had other projects.
Description of Work: I called Ed to finish up a basement remodeling project that another contractor had started, but not finished. There were a lot of loose ends and challenges that arose from tying to pick up something partially finished, and not necessarily done in the best way by the previous contractor. These included framing out a crawlspace door, finishing work on the stairs and built-ins, trim around the ceiling and baseboards, etc.

Overall it was frustrating. At first we didn't mind the back and forth in talking to Ed via his blackberry but I realized that even though we had so much back and forth, the job was not done right (he didn't retain what we spoke of). My husband and I went and picked out the countertop and discussed the back splash we wanted (it would match what was already on the wall). The sink was removed and a new counter top was put in and looked great, but the trim around and in front of the sink was just blocks of wood that he stained. It didn't match what was already there (everything around the sink was white and we discussed this during our back and forth with Ed). The Floor - My husband and I picked out the floor laminate we wanted and paid for it. Ed told us to measure the bathroom and make sure we get some extra so we can use it under the sink if we wanted. Unfortunately, Ed did not remember this conversation or did not read his blackberry emails. He only did half of the floor (around the toilet). When I asked if he was going to come back to complete doing the floor, that's when he realized that he had cut up so much of the laminate we purchased that he could not finish the floor (meaning, we would have to go buy more laminate). He cut up all the laminate leaving us with an odd amount left, not enough to cover the floor. He cut some of this laminate and put it under the sink on the shelves but it was not glued, just resting there (not sure why). He only did the the floor area around the toilet. The cabinets were not done at all. Ed also mentioned in our conversation upon his visit to review the bathroom (prior to the work being done he came over to look at the bathroom) that he would install some sort of shelf in the cabinets that would pull out and be on wheels under the sink. None of that happened. We were so frustrated, we just asked him to come back and fix the trim and back splash around the sink. We went and bought the trim we wanted and painted it white and he removed what he put up and installed it. Now we have half a floor with the new laminate and half with the old. When we called him to come back and finish the floor and discussed how much that laminate cost us, he argued with us about coming back. I just want people to be aware of this experience. We won't be using him again.
Description of Work: We wanted our bathroom sink counter replaced, the cabinets done over, a new back splash and new floor cover (laminate). We also wanted the toilet raised as it was uneven from the floor having a slant. Ed was going to raise up the floor and the toilet would be placed on that area and we'd have the new laminate floor in our bathroom. (A plumber assisted with the toilet and installing the new sink).

This is completely not true and have all the documentation to back it. Your husband and I discussed the job in detail. If he measured (as you stated) then why would we have been short on the vinyl. Also, the washer and dryer would have been out of the room prior to our arrival. I mentioned this to him and he said he didn't care about the area, just take care of the new platform and add the extra piece under the sink. (That obviously was the case if you are wondering why there wasn't enough vinyl flooring) The pull out shelving?? He never mentioned any of that. Maybe you should have been involved with the discussion of the project. That is not in the written (and signed by you) completed work order or the estimate. When you mentioned the remaining floor area I DID offer (at no charge) to provide the labor to install the vinyl even though it wasn't part of the written agreement. Even though you have given a inaccurate report of what happened, if you remove the washer and dryer, the offer to install the vinyl still stands. ]P.S. the reason for the back and forth of the Blackberry is to avoid these type of problems and so far there never has been a problem. A year and a half later you now have a complaint?

Eddie came over to provide an estimate to replace 6 4x8 pieces of plywood under an addition. His quote was more than double of other estimates we received. We also inquired about sheet rocking garage ceiling. We were supposed to receive an itemized quote for this as well. The quote wasn't received. Based on the estimate we did receive, we decided not to contact him further.

So we are getting a "D" rating because you don't like our price? Are you kidding! The second itemized quote was finished tonight but I guess there's no point in sending it, is there. We looked at your job over the weekend and told you it would be a few days to put the estimates together based on material pricing. Passed on the job, no details were given.
Description of Work: A company representative came and briefly looked at our bathroom. He didn't take any measurements, but he told us he would get us a quote. He emailed two days later, with a short/rude email, saying he is "passing on this job." I replied to his email asking why, so I could learn from this visit, and he never responded. He totally wasted my time. It's fine if he didn't want to do the job, but not responding or telling me why he is passing was inconsiderate of my time and unprofessional. I pay for Angie's List so I don't have to waste my time like this. A simple reply would have been the one way he could have added value to the visit. Very disappointed. Update: Eddie, your response is not true. You waited over a week, and then sent this short email below. I sent you an email asking why you were passing, so I could learn from this, and you never responded to me. After telling us you would send a quote, we received this email: Hi, We would have to pass on this job. Thank you, Ed Eddiemac's Home Improvement

We are confused by this review. We had told this customer upon arrival at the initial appointment that because it was a 3rd floor condo unit with lack of parking, we would pass on the job as there is no place to put our equipment. It is a huge liability for us if we have to leave our equipment out on a street while we are working inside. This was then reiterated in an email message to the customer as a follow up. If he did speak with an Ernie at the appointment, we do not have any Ernie's working for this company and maybe it is a mixed up of companies. It is unfair to grade us as unprofessional when we clearly provided input to the customer first hand.

We wanted to replace the existing damaged boards with a composite wood to hopefully foil future woodpeckers. We had other interior work done by Ed and Brian previously and was pleased with their effort. Ed called back promptly and come the same day to estimate. In order to pry off the damaged boards, undamaged boards on the other side of the corner that were toenailed into the damaged boards needed to be removed. It was likely they would have to be replaced as well so the amount of work was more than we had expected. He e-mailed me the estimate within a few days and came to do the work a few days later which was very quick compared to other experiences we have had. Brian did the work and was very pleasant and careful. I asked if he could also re-secure the gutter screening which was askew just above the top board being replaced and he did. I needed to remind him to replace our sprinkler gauge and I did a small amount of cleanup in one area but, all in all, he did a fine job. He painted the primed composite wood and everything looks perfect.
Description of Work: Replacement of corner boards on 2 exterior corners of house due to woodpecker holes.
