Amazing! Phil and his team were incredibly responsive. His attention to detail and quality work is well respected in this day and age. They met timeline, and quoted accurately. Plus, our floors look amazing!

Went very well. Two guys that were very professional and nice. They were prompt, courteous and most importantly did a beautiful job. Very pleased with Downs and would highly recommend. I plan on having them do some more work, floor that needs some repair work. This is a great Angies deal.

Downs were great to work with. They gave me a quote and made great suggestions to replace the kitchen floor and sand and refinish the other floors to match. The previous owner did a horrible job refinishing the floors and they looked really bad. We arranged for Downs to do the work while we were away and when we returned the floors looked awesome. The finish really showed the quality of the wood grain and the kitchen matched the rest of the floors flawlessly. We can't even remember what the old floors looked like. Great job. Very professional and high quality service.

Overall it went super well. Phill was always promt, communicative and did an outstanding job. I didn't see any dust from all of the sanding he did. Without a doubt I will call him again.

We were moving into a new house and wanted to get the hardwood floors refinished. Part of the floor was in really bad shape and needed to be replaced. Phil and crew did a great job and it was completed exactly as Phil had said for time. We ended up getting a good portion of the floor stained with "Special Walnut" as a suggestion from phil and it looks fantastic. For the part of the floor that needed replacement they mixed new flooring with old and it really blends in nicely. Overall very happy with how it turned out.

Met Phil Downs (owner) on his estimate date. He was very professional, honest and clear. I had one other bid, and the competitor's price was $150 less, yet I really liked Phil for the adjectives I listed just prior. I had a third bid planned, but once I saw how close these two were in price, I felt I had enough corroboration of the approximate cost to do the job, so I cancelled that bid. Phil and his worker John, came out in about 2 weeks and over the course of 3 days, sanded and polished the floors. They look "drop dead gorgeous". There were a couple of dark marks left from deep scratches in one bedroom floor, yet I do not fault Phil's work. I believe the only way he could get those out would be to sand the floor away! So, in all, a great experience and I would highly recommend.

Phill was fantastic! We couldn't be happier with the floors!! They look amazing, and the match to the already existing floors is almost unnoticeable. The patch work that had to be done also came out great. The price was very fair, and phill came out right away on a week night to give the initial estimate. He was there every other day that he said he would be and was eager to finish up the job for us so we could move in. Communication was very easy and he was always responsive, always got back to us within the same day. Phill is very personable and easy to work with. I will definitely be calling him back for more work and would recommend him to any of my friends and family.

It went very well. They used a "dustless" system that really worked. Very little clean up was required by me after they left (there's always some dust.) The repair on the vent site looks like there never was a vent there. They were very professional with their demeanor and work ethic. I would recommend Downs to anyone who wants their floors to look brand new. They were very meticulous as far as filling in the many nail holes left by the carpeting strips. If I had anything to complain about, I guess I'd say that I wish they could have matched the floor with the hallway floor a little better. The hallway was done about 4 years ago by someone else. I'm sure colors change after years of exposure.

Downs Hardwood Floors was recommended by a friend to refinish our hardwood floors. Phil Downs came to the house and explained the process in detail and truly listened to what we wanted before jumping into the job. Initially I was unsure of the stain we wanted to use. At no time was I ever pressured by Phil and he worked with me to choose which stain would achieve the look we were hoping for. Phil was meticulous in his work and obviously takes pride in what he does. He left my house in pristine condition when the job was finished. His attention to detail and professionalism are why we are already planning to have him install hardwood floors throughout our home.

He was really good. He was very responsive and definitely knows what he is doing. We had a good experience with him. I thought the price was fair and we knew what it was going to be in the front-end. There were no surprises. I think he was punctual. I do not remember any problem.

Phil did an excellent job refinishing our hardwood floors. We recently purchased a house and the floors on the first floor were in rough condition. We also did not care for how light the wood was. Phil explained that the floors had water based polyeurethene, and we could make them darker by putting oil based polyeurethene on them. We would, however, have to sand the floors completely if we went that route. I am glad he suggested it because the floors look beautiful. Phil also suggested to lightly finish the floors upstairs because they were in excellent condition, there wasn't a need for a complete resurfacing. I appreciated his honesty, but wish we had him match the floors downstairs only because those are truly beautiful! Phil is reasonably priced, and got the job done in a timely manner.

Amazing!! Phil is easy going, punctual, thorough, super hard working and transformed my floors. He does an excellent job! I will call him again and highly recommend him! The floors are wide plank with tons of nails. He set all of them. The thresholds needed work so he sanded down through layers of paint. He and his man fit us which we greatly appreciated and stuck to his estimate, which he gave to us on the spot and was very affordable. Thank you Phil!

The floor looks absolutely perfect. Phil did a terrific job and I couldn't be happier. He was a pleasure to work with and I will definitely use him again.

I called, Phil came out as scheduled, looked at our floors that hadn't been redone in 17 years since we built our house and provided a detailed quote telling us what needed to be done to get them back to new. His price was very competitive and we scheduled a date. Phil and John arrived promptly at 8 am the morning scheduled and got right to work. They moved our furniture out, sanded and polyurethaned the floors three times with almost no dust at all over a four day period. We have a dog so we wanted a fourth sanding and poly coat. Phil advised that it was not necessary, and it wasn't , but we insisted and he did it for us. Both he and John were very courteous , punctual, worked very hard and did a great job - and practically no dust!

They did a reat job, my 2nd floor was in bad shape and it came out better than I thought it would. He gave me an excellent price to redo the 1st floor also so I went with the full job.They worked very hard and I believe I got excellent value for my money.

I had a wall removed and tied in the hardwood from the old dining room while carrying it through the kitchen. I did the install myself so there were some sins to be dealt with. Phil did a fantastic job covering up my sins. Phil was also great when timeline slid do to other delays. He worked on Sunday to have the floor ready for my family and I to move in. Great service!

Phil did a great job. He was very flexible and was kind enough to fit us in so he could redo the floors right after we moved in and before we put all the furniture in place. The floors were in pretty bad shape, with lots of dark spots. But you would never know it when Phil was done. He worked wonders and got rid of all the dark spots. He also rose to the crisis when the dishwasher (that we had not used since we moved in) leaked on the newly sanded kitchen floor! Phil was very good about explaining the process to us before he came and while he was here. He made recommendations as to the products to use and why, and how to best maintain the floor. They came out looking almost brand new. We would highly recommend Phil and we will use him as needed to keep these floors in the beautiful condition he restored them to.

Results were beautiful. No dust after. Done in 3separate times 2 rooms each time.

Phil was quick to respond to my call. He set a date and was on time. The job was completed on time. His professionalism and communication were fantastic. The work was incredible! His attention to detail was fantastic. I've used others in the past....they used inferior materials and didn't do the little things. Phil hand sanded the floor that came up to the cabinets where the sander can't reach. His machines are state of the art. Without taping off rooms, there was zero dusting.

The project was projected to take 2 1/2 days. It took one more day. The floor was a stickler and took Phil longer then anticipated. He worked really hard to make the floor look perfect and he did it. He was punctual and very easy to work with. I would definitely hire him again.

Phil is the consummate professional. He is an absolute perfectionist when it comes to the work he performs and the care he brings to the project. We are thrilled with the new look of our floors and stairs and are very happy that we decided to hire Phil for the job. During the process Phil fulfilled all of our expectations in terms of meeting us to scope the project, getting back to us quickly with a quote, and showing up on schedule to begin the work. He did what he said he would do, and showed up when he said he would. The greatest value we found, and what set Phil apart from the others we considered, was his credibility and willingness to share his insight and experience to help guide us in our decision making. His expertise in this field is extensive, and we appreciated his input. I will hire Phil again, and I unequivocally recommend him.

Phil was very professional throughout and easy to work with. He described the process clearly beforehand and kept me informed each day of the project. The project went as planned and on time. The floors are beautiful! If I had to do it again, I probably would go with water-based polyurethane because of the quicker drying time and the reduced smell. Even with oil-based polyurethane, the smell lifts after about a day and a half.

We would highly recommend Phil for any refinishing or new hardwood floor project. He's great to deal with, his quotes are accurate, he is punctual, and as many have said he works to make sure you're happy with the finished product, even if that means mixing up a few stain colors to get just what you're looking for. We trusted him to be in our home while we were away and he successfully kept our cats, who can be escape artists, safely in the house. .

Phil did a tremendous job. He consulted with me on the types of finish, shine, advantages and disadvantages etc. He was professional and took good care of the house as he did his work. This was part of an overall kitchen renovation so I do not know his price as it was built into the price received from the kitchen contractor.
