8/30/13 I had Justin who was very professional and on time he installed washer hookup and to replace an old soapstone sink with an newer sink. He arrived on time and went right to work my house is 113 years old and I know with an old home issues arise, but Justin had no issues and with the help of a coworker Scott they removed the 100+ year old heavy sink which was very helpful because I recently had shoulder surgery and I would not been able to move. After the work was completed he cleaned and removed the debris, I have had previous contractors who after completing the work they cleaned only to have to clean up after them myself. I strongly recommend this company and I will be using them for future projects.

On 8/27/13 I had Mike B to install and remove old washer/dryer outlets. Mike show up on time and was very professional right away putting on his booties before entering my home. My home is 113 years old and I always expect some issue with an old house. Mike found no issues and went right to work removing old w/d outlets located in kitchen and moved to the basement he had to make a wall for the outlets to be secured to. The work was very professional and his cleaning was excellent like no one was ever there. I will be using them again in the future.

This job went as expected. The plumber removed malfunctioning outdoor faucet, cut and soldered copper pipe to prepare for new faucet, then installed new faucet. After 60 days of use, new faucet is operating fine. I also purchased installation of another new faucet for the irrigation system piping at additional cost. The plumber assessed the situation suitably, chipped away some of the brick wall bordering the faucet so it could operate more smoothly and installed that new faucet.

The entire process with Cranney Home Services was wonderful. From the initial call to the follow up visit after the system was installed, everything went in a professional, and stress free manner. Our Comfort Advisor, Peter Freedman, was the only of 4 contractors , who provided 3 options. Even the top of the line system in the three Bryant options was less expensive than all the others quotes with comparable equipment. The work was scheduled for the following week, where all the others offered an install date of well into August. The workmen arrived at 8:00 am and left at 8:30 pm, having installed the system, checked it out, and instructed us on using our new thermostat. They were efficient, neat, and personable, leaving the basement area better than when they arrived. They worked non-stop and deserve an A+. Two weeks later Peter came out again, to make sure we were pleased with our new system, and to answer any questions we might have after using it. We had no problems, and we were assured if we did have any issues or questions he was only a call away. In addition to the standard Bryant Warrantees, Cranney Home Services has their own company warranty on the equipment and workmanship for 3 years. Obviously, they stand behind their equipment and workmanship, and that is reassuring when you must invest in a major home improvement.

They were fine. They were very easy to deal with. I called them for a particular service that I needed, they performed it and that was the end of it. The price was just the value of the coupon. I would certainly offer them an opportunity but I'm not sure that I would go with them necessarily.

My air conditioning died just a few days before my daughter's wedding! I called the office in a panic and was able to schedule a service call for the next morning. Mike Brennan and Anthony, the technicians, arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, and had it fixed in just a couple of hours. Mike definitely seemed to know what he was talking about and was very reassuring. They were extremely polite, professional, and tidy, taking their boot covers off and on every time they entered or left the house, so they wouldn't drag in the dirt. They even requested paper towels to clean up the landing! I was very, very pleased with the service. I will definitely use this company again. In fact, (after the wedding) I'm having Mike come out to do some electrical work for me. This company seems to do it all!

Cranney's technician, Jason, was thorough and prompt on all visits. He helped me understand the issues and was professional and courteous. I was extremely leery, still in the midst of a dispute regard the work of a previous HVAC repair provider. Cranney was responsive and timely with all their work and their pricing seems fair. The original Tune up was $89, the inducer assembly repair was $814 and the ignitor replacement was $295
Description of Work: Cranney was originally called to do a tune up. Shortly thereafter, the transducer on the furnace went and then the ignitor (which was the failure of a faulty part, installed in November, 2012 by another HVAC company) had to be replaced. Cranney performed all three services at a far price and were thorough and professional in their work

Well I tell you what, if this is any invitation I've had them back a second time to do a non-professional tune up for me and I'm hiring them to install a new heating from the house. They've been fantastic. But I did remember them when it's same time for me to do an annual check up this year and it gave me exactly who I called.

Justin (plumber) notified me he was coming & arrived on time. Showed him the work needed. He wrote up an estimate and I OK'd it. He went right to work and performed everything required within an hour and a half, including making a trip to pick up the correct size sillcock. He was very focused on the work and was meticulously neat. I received a 5% discount for being a member of Angie's List. Cranney is not the least expensive service, but you can count on them to be prompt, efficient, and thorough. I have used them for several years, and no follow-up calls for repairs or fixes to their work were ever needed. (Brian Cranney updated our electrical service in 1986!)
Description of Work: (1) Replaced tub mixer valve, shower head and stem, and chrome water spout. (2) Drained & refilled stainless hot water storage tank for preventive maintenance. (3) Removed and replaced old inside/outside shut offs for outside faucet with frost-free sillcock & hose bibb as well as ball valve and draw off.

Because of a family illness I wasn't able to use the deals during the time allotted. Cranney was more than accommodating. They were prompt and thorough. One machine needed switches and was working well. The other was 25 years old and needs to be replaced. The inspector wanted to remove non-working parts, which I thought was odd. (The same thing happened when I purchased another big-deal: a furnace inspection of the rental from a completely different provider, who actually did remove parts then couldn't return for 2 wks even tho he had been informed my tenant was very ill and needed heat....) Cranney's sales person followed up immediately, for which I was appreciative, but then gave me a super hard sell. That made me get two more estimates that came in quite a bit lower for better-brand replacement equipment.
Description of Work: I purchased two big deal central-ac inspections from Cranney; one for my house, one for a rental property.

Technician pointed out that I would be better off if I had purchased different type of disposal as it would be a less expensive installation not requiring an electrician. While he worked on faucet set in bathroom I was able to exchange new disposal for correct one. Technician did quality work on all three jobs, cleaned up and explained charges. I feel the bill was reasonable and I was more than satisfied with work done.

Scott from Cranney came to the house, inspected the furnace and duct work that I had, took measurements to determine the BTU's that would be needed. I said I wanted to keep the cost down and pointed out that the oil furnace and duct work was not old and I'd like to keep the same duct work.. He explained my options (single or multiple zones etc.) I made my choices and he wrote up a quote on the spot. Based on friends recommendations and the fair price, I chose Cranney to do the work. They completed the whole job in one day. They picked up the work area and removed all the trash they created. A few days later, a Cranney plumber returned to be on hand for city's inspector. All in all, it was handled very professionally
Description of Work: Installed a new gas burner replacing my oil fired burner. Kept 90% of original duct work (hot air system). Added a humidifier and had my oil tank removed.

The serviceman was out within about an hour or so. He explained how he cleans the boiler, etc. And then called me down to show me the buildup of soot in the flu pipe to the chimney.
Description of Work: The serviceman did a great job in cleaning the boiler. And he took the flu pipe out and cleaned up into the chimney. The previous company in the last year or so overlooked cleaning the flu and there was a lot of build up of dirt. I rate this company a BIG 10. They came into the city area from Danvers. He was very professional. I look forward to having my boiler cleaned next year by them.

The service was outstanding. The technician was on time and was very knowledgable and professional. He performed the tune-up and changed the filter. The noise that I had been experiencing was not obvious during the checkup, so he took the time to consider various possible scenarios. This included a demonstration of the function performed by the condensate pump. Bingo, there was the noise. It was not performing properly. I OK'd replacing the pump, which he did. Then he replaced the thermostat. I was extremely happy with the results, even though I ended up paying for 2 new pares and their installation. It was worth the peace of mind that resulted from the confidence in the work that was performed. I highly recommend Cranney Companies.
Description of Work: I scheduled an Angie's list tune-up, which was performed as expected. However, I also needed the cause of a noise in the system to be diagnosed and fixed. In addition, I needed to replace the thermostat.

On 2/9/13 we were trying to shovel after a blizzard. We saw Mike Trimarchi of Cranney Home Services with his snow blower and asked him if he could just plow the end of our driveway and we would pay him. We mistook him for someone who lived in the neighborhood and not someone out removing snow as a business. At first he declined then he came back and offered to do the work. He wanted $60 for the job we only had $50 and he still accepted it. We went into the house to warm up and get out of their way to do the work. After they finished the other worker came to our door for the money. He was asked if he made the driveway wide enough to get the cars out? "Oh yeah we made the size of the driveway the width of the house", so I gave him the money. Later when we went back outside to finish we saw that not only had he not cleared the mound of snow along the edge of the driveway but we could not get the first car, a compact Toyota Corolla through the space. The snow removed was not wide enough to make it . It wasn't even the width of the driveway. We called Mike got his voicemail and left the message that they had not removed enough snow for the cars to pass through and to please return to correct the problem. We provided him with our phone number. He never called back nor returned to correct the problem. We were able to get a neighbor to widen the space. We paid for the servcie and they did a horrible job. We should have known when they completed it so quickly after telling us it would take awhile that their work was questionable. I would not recommend them. If you hire them, make sure you stand over them while they work to make sure they do the job right. On his card their company motto is "One Call Does it All". but we know that not to be the case. They didn't do it all at the one call and never returned to make good. They took our money knowing they did a horrible job.I'm sure he was laughing because he knew it. Is it funny now?

Cranney Home Services were great. I would give them an A. They were very professional, in and out quickly, and I thought their prices were fair. The only issue I had and I did speak to them about it is that on one aspect of the job they flipped the radiator arm for us. They did not tell me what it would cost in advance and then when I saw the cost I was surprised. I actually called them and they were willing to negotiate with me on the price.

The Cranney workman arrived at our home exactly on time, seemed familiar with the rather unusual heating/solar panel system we have, and efficiently performed the seasonal heating system cleaning. He also mentioned that when he arrived at our home he noticed our heating system roof vent cap was missing and that we should have it replaced before rain or snow got in the pipe and caused damage. This was something we were aware of since we had already had an incident during a heavy rainstorm, but had not yet attended to the problem. The workman checked his schedule and offered to get up on our roof and take a look at the pipe to see what size cap would be needed. He called local hardware stores to find the appropriate cap size and after explaining the cost of the entire service he completed a quality repair job that very day. Great to no more worries about damaging our heating system! Disclaimer: We're unable to find our work papers so the date and cost are approximate, but the account of our experience is exact.

The service man arrived promplty. He looked at my high efficiency gas boiler and gave me a price for service. His notes did not tell him I had pre-paid for an Angie's list sepcial. Not a problem... he just took the information at the end of the service visit. He was not familiar with the service requirements of my make and model boiler, and it took a few minutes for him to locate the service manual (inside the cover of the boiler). He worked efficiently. When he was done, he called me down to the basement to show me what he'd done and to point out he had found a tripped GFI and determined what has caused it and fixed it. As he was preparing to leave I noticed I could not see any white steam coming from the vent to the outside. He checked again to be sure everything was working right - it was. Just a matter of the wind blowing the steam away from the window where I ususally see it. All in all, he was pleasant, efficient, wanted to be sure he did the job right. I never felt like he was rushing to be done. I've been lax about getting the boiler serviced. It has always worked fine. But with the Angie's special rate, it seemed reasonable to have someone look at it just to be sure. I'm glad I did.

We had Cranney come in and disconnect the gas on our stove when we were getting a new one. Our appliance delivery was a colossal disaster so they had disconnected the gas and we paid half of the bill. The company who we bought the appliances from said they'd send someone out for us at their expense so we called Cranney and explained it and they said no problem and didn't charge us the remaining amount. Then we found out that the appliance company was only going to be able to do it almost a week later so we decided we'd hook up so we called Cranney again and asked them to come back. They were really flexible and fit us in exactly when we needed them. The fellas that came, Frank and Dave, were very professional and friendly. With everything that's gone wrong with getting these appliances delivered (it's been a nightmare!), it was such a relief to have two friendly and knowledgeable people come in.
