CJ's Finish Carpentry

The work itself was fine but we're repeat customers and I feel like he overcharged me. In the past he charged me $55/hour so I can't believe how much he charged me this last time.

My experience has went very well. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable in their field. I am very pleased with the outcome of the service and they did a wonderful job. The had many great ideas and options for me to choose from. I would highly recommend this company to others.

They custom-sized and hung nine interior doors. I had them back for two of the doors that were scraping on the sides and they came right away to fix that problem. However, while some doors were fit perfectly, others left too much or too little gap at the bottom and a couple were not hung straight in the door openings. I realize that the existing door jambs themselves may not have been straight but the doors were not fit to them so they exaggerate the tilt. I might try them again for another type of job, but not for hanging doors in existing door frames.

I think, I got a qoute last November 18, and he must to come out a few days before that because he was the quickest and the most efficient. So, he is the one who did the real good job and being the cheapest. I am going with him because I like him. They are professional, easy to get in touch with, and helpful. I will really give him a very good review even though he is not the cheapest. I am having a basement that flooded repair, so, there is some stock swelling to be done, tiling, sheet rock, and suspended ceilings. It is about $4000. They are really great, I mean, 2 guys showed up and all the younger guys, I just felt like they knew what they were doing, everything that they were looking at, now that I had 6 people in the house like 2 works from your lists. This was like they did this all the time. They look at it and know exactly what they were doing, easy to work with. Because I am looking for someone that be able to use on going from different projects and early great consider walk through the whole house, and different things and said would great a wish less in just 2 or 1 thing at a time, the basement is more urgent, plus, I got a quote on replacing a carpet in master bedroom with flooring and replacing a toilet all from him. But I am not going with other things yet. I got one of the quote from him that ended up too much money and I do not want to do it right now. Every time I email him and he was available right away to start the work, he was the first one to have the availability right away. I had been able to email him back and forth and ask some questions and he is responsive. He is really the best one to work with and get us whole and uphold him a back learner for a month, I just wrote to him this morning and told him that I am sorry for the delay but I would like to move forward with your availability I do not have any complains at all like I said, the work have not started yet but he makes you feel very confident and have not had any issues, they know what they are doing and easy to work with, responsive and got the quote fast. Nobody got the quote that fast, I guess, they are a little pricing than the others but it is almost worth it, they know things like professionally how to run the establishment. .

Chris came out and looked over everything and provided a reasonable estimate a week or two later. He son did most of the work replacing the door frames and deck boards and another employee did the remainder of the work. The quality of the work was excellent. I would highly recommend CJ's Finish Carpentry.

It is because of Angie's list I found them and needless to say they are my go to guys for my home repairs.

This was a Big Deal promotional about a year and a half ago. I bought one for myself and one for a friend. It was a promotional for the company as I understood it, but I'm not sure that the person doing the work was really a professional. He was able to 'accomplish' my requests but took a long time to do so, and sometimes created other problems along the way. Most of these were minor in my case, and I was simply not impressed. My friend was not pleased at all. She had a countertop piece that she wished to have used for her washroom sink area. Instead of drilling holes for the faucets and cutting an opening for the sink, thus fitting the countertop in one whole piece around the sink area, he cut it up in many small pieces to fit them together, creating seams, and as a result not having enough area for a counter area to the side of the sink. There would have been a countertop around the sink and an area to fold and place things on the side if this had been done strategically. This was what she was looking forward to. She was also not happy with the rehanging of a storm door. It may be that the head of the company does better work, or his regular carpenters. I did not want to follow up because I felt the person was working to their ability level in my case. I offered to follow up on my friend's behalf, but she declined.

He honored the deal, but his communication was not at all good. He did not come to do an estimate and because he didn't understand completely the different chores I needed done, he brought along a "helper" who I had to pay extra for (if you can imagine). The work they did didn't even add up to 2 hours. If he had done an estimate, he would have seen that. Instead, they were done in an hour and to think I had to pay for the extra guy to come along - that was way way too much money for such little service. They also showed up without calling me to set an exact day and time. He offered me some possibilities, I called him back with a few options for days and times, but he never called to confirm which one he would come. I was completely not prepared to have him "and his friend" come to do the handyman chores.

The carpenters showed up on time, and did an excellent job. The work was top-notch, they cleaned up after themselves, and I was overall very satisfied with their work.

Excellent. He was a bit hard to track and pin down in the beginning but he showed up within the proscribed days and once he started it was nothing short of terrific. Clean quick perfect quality. Really professional and knew his stuff. This was a complicated job as he had to balance and secure his ladder on stairs and he did the job alone. Great. Workmanship and I am a critical person.

I reached out to Chris on June 25 and got a response immediately, which I appreciated. On July 2, Chris came to our home and assessed the requested work. We mentioned that we are on a tight timeline because we are expecting our first child in a few months. He showed up when he said he would and arrived on time. However, after this meeting I have been terribly disappointed. He spent over an hour in our home and before leaving suggested that I send him an email to confirm all projects to ensure that he does not miss any, which is a fair request. I sent this email the next day on July 3. I never heard from him again. Chris said it would take about a week or so to hear back regarding an estimate. I sent 4 follow-up emails with no response and finally called several weeks later. Chris answered right away and confirmed that due to personal reasons he was unable to check his emails. He then confirmed that he would get back to me with an estimate and that he was still interested in doing the job. This was almost two weeks ago and once again I still have not heard back from Chris. He is running a business and should have decency to respond to his clients. I will not be using his services nor recommending them going forward.

Chris was very responsive from the first contact to the end of job. He is very knowledgeable and professional. The site was cleaned up after his work was completed. I would use him again. Nice guy, too!

C J's Finish Carpentry is very easy to work with and the quality of their work is excellent.

We had originally purchased the Big Deal for a different small project, but the scope changed and another big project (kitchen) came along. We ended up not using them right away. We forgot about the big deal for almost a year and contacted Chris. He was more than happy to honor the deal and work on some other small projects. He showed up on time and completed all she work on the short list in a reasonable amount of time. It went over the 2 hours of the big deal but the rates for the extra time were reasonable. The work was high quality.

Angie's list contacted me re: CJ's Carpentry after another service provider could not fulfill the deal I had purchased. I opted to have CJ's replace the first provider. Chris was responsive to my communication and very professional. He looked at each item I had on my list for repair - replacing the hinge on a dresser door, installing a new shower rod, recaulking the bathtub and more and talked me through the repair work and other suggestions when he had them. He arrived on time and completed each task well. I am someone who likes things done well the first time and I want to hire someone who is going to pay good attention to detail. I feel that Chris did just that.

Chris Jones was very professional and responsive. He showed up when he was suppose to, and left the job site clean when finished. There were a few last minute items I asked him to help with and he was more than accommodating. He installed a new bathroom fan (no previous fan was installed), replaced a rake board, and replaced a front light fixture for me. I will be using Chris again in the future and have already passed his name on to others.

He did a good job. He was a carpenter and he knows what he is doing. He answers all your questions.

I used the big deal coupon for this service. He was superb. I can’t say much about him frankly since I hired him because of the big deal offer. The offer price was fair. He was professional and he did what I’d asked him to do. I suspect I had more items on the list and could have done more. As it was, I say it became less, probably before the full complement of hours I was entitled to in the Big Deal were used up. That’s in part because I was out of project; I can't fault them for that. I would use him again but only through the Big Deal offer.

I had purchased a big deal from Angie for a handy men. Chris Jones came once to assess the work and take measurements. He was very courteous and pleasant. He then returned a week or two later to do the work. He had to remove and replace some rotten wood around the windows, discovered a large ant nest which he also removed, and then replaced some of the wood and used some filler to fill out the holes and gaps around the window and the sill. The finished work was good quality Chris is obviously very skilled at what he does. The quality of his work was excellent. However there were two issues. I was surprised at the additional cost for the material and labor. He also did not quite finish the job that day and told me he needed to come bak to install another wood piece under the window. That took for ever. He eventually came back a few month later to install the last piece. That only required 30 minutes. Overall there is no question that Chris is very professional and knowledgeable and uses high quality products and is precise and detailed . But I never got a proper estimate or a proper bill and had to quite long for the last bit to be completed. Would I use their company again? Yes absolutely. But this time I will make sure I know the cost and schedule upfront.

CJ's was friendly, professional, responsive and did a great job. His price was excellent too! We would definitely hire him again and plan to, in the future.

It was easy for me. They showed up early with all their equipment and work the day to complete the job.

Chris was great. We had some cabinets that we needed hung in our bar/basement area. The cabinets were both on the bottom and top...8 in total. He needed to raise all the cabinets to line up with an existing wall so we can have granite installed on both. He did a seemless job. He also fixed a drop ceiling that we have in our basement and reinforced a side wall to prepare for granite to be mounted on top. He really knows what he is doing, he finished all in 1 day and his prices are competitive. I would recommend him and I am bringing him back for some other odds and ends in the future.

They were good, they put up 2 storm doors, and fixed a leak in a chimney.
