They have been working on our building for years and they do a great job. They do quality work and provide very good service. They are very responsive and the work is done correctly. You never have to get anything rechecked or redone because they just take care of it. You get what you pay for.

Great experience. I don't like calling people to do work at my home, preferring to do most myself, not because of cost but because of attitude, etc. Just a hassle. But the fellow sent from Alewife was fantastic. I would call him again before I ever did my own work again.

We had contacted several other plumbing companies asking for the cost to do this work. Except for Alewife, they all wanted to charge to come out to give an estimate. (Some said if we chose them, they would subtract that cost from the final bill.) When I called Alewife they gave me an exact price per appliance. they came out, did the work and charged the price quoted. I would definitely hire them again.

I would rate them high over all. I have never used them for smaller jobs.

We paid $400 for the service, but all we got was a 2 line email saying that the drain was too blocked and that it needed high velocity water jetting ($800) first. I decided to check around and found other firms were offering the jetting for $300-$400 and chose one of those. They laughed when I told them that we paid $400 for a video of a drain filled with black dirty water. What a waste of time and money.

They always answered the phone, always were polite and professional, and were patient with my frustration.

I called to have them look at the fact that the boiler was not sending heat to my apartment. They answered quickly and promised to send someone over soon because someone was already in my neighborhood. Well, it was not as soon as they promised by several hours. However, that was soon forgotten when the technician did his detective work and fixed the problem 100%.

They were prompt, reliable and had excellent workmanship . They even caught an error the architect made in the slant of the roof. They were courteous and very professional. The price was very reasonable.

Alewife Plumbing was superb in all aspects. They answered the phone promptly; booked an appointment easily; called to reconfirm time and date; then called again to say the plumber was on his way. The plumber himself was pleasant and professional. We were completely satisfied.

Someone came to give us an estimate. They arrived the next week to do the work. They arrived promptly, worked efficiently, and left it clean. Our new hot water heater is just what we needed. We have also called them since for smaller plumbing issues, and they have been very helpful and efficient. We highly recommend them.

Called because the burner wouldn't light in our gas boiler. The originally scheduled me for 5 days out but called when they had someone free the same day I called. He came and began diagnostics. The plumber was not familiar with my particular boiler and we needed to go to the internet to get troubleshooting information. We were successful in determining that condensate in the drain had caused the system to fail to register a proper purging.

No heat. Inspected and evaluated source of problem with boiler. Replaced parts in stock. Coordinated with electrician when needed. Ordered and replaced parts not in stock. Initial work on weekend. Restored heat in first day. Job completion over 2 weeks because waiting for a part.

Our thermostat governing the zone with a closed off room ran out of batteries and failed to call for enough heat for the outside wall. We discovered the problem on a weekend morning and called Alewife. We got a call back very quickly and the plumber was here with a thawing machine (that he had to go to pick up) in about an hour and a half from our initial call. He was able to assess the situation and quickly isolated that heating zone (forced hot water) cut out the section of burst pipe, thawed the frozen section of pipe and soldered in a new section of pipe in the baseboard heat. He then cleaned and reassembled the radiator. On the telephone he had feared that the job would cost about $800 but was able to complete the job for less than $400.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the furnace wasn't installed properly back 28 years ago. In my 3 unit condo building, the other two units have the identical furnaces which were also installed 28 years ago. Only 1 of the furnaces had the proper drainage valve (my term, I forgot the actual name that the plumber told me). Obviously the furnace was never properly serviced by other plumbing services prior to this visit. The plumber cut the pipe and added the 'drainage valve'. He also had to add a shut off valve that was missing. The plumber checked everything else out. He told me that my 28 year old expansion tank was still working properly, but I decided to have a new one installed for an additional $78.00. I figured that it probably wouldn't have much life left in it and a future call for repair would cost me more than the $78.00. I like how the plumber thoroughly explained to me in layman's terms the functioning of all the furnace's apparatus. Because of the promptness, good customer service and easy rapport with the plumber, I will definitely call Alewife plumbing again for future service/projects.

Performed a fairly extensive boiler cleaning and tune-up far surpassing what NStar would do -- cleaned burners, top and bottom site glass valves, shut-off valve, etc., skimmed water. I had to call when they didn't show up in morning (as second job) and found out assigned plumber was significantly delayed from earlier job. I was then called when he was on the way. Plumber was responsive to my questions and willing to give me tips -- quite personable. Job was completed within the quoted time frame and hourly rate.

They use their own excavator. They subcontracted out the excavation of my front yard. I wasn’t too happy with the fact that their excavator covered a really high part of my cost. They had a service manager who was very professional and usually prompt in getting back to me. I think they have a particular person to handle customers, and I have confidence in their ability. Alewife Plumbing did an excellent job. I live in Boston and people are reluctant to work in this city sometimes. I am not too happy with that.

Our furnace went out, and we called Alewife to see if they could help. They were able to get to our place a few hours later, and fixed the problem without any trouble. Rob was right on time for the appointment and had a great sense of humor. It would have been nice to get a quote when we first called, but the price ended up being fine. Will absolutely use them again.

They did a very good job. They were professional, and the quality of their work was very good. I was satisfied with their work.

Two years ago, two companies told me I needed to replace my furnace even though it was still working; I just had problems maintaining the appropriate water level/shut off valve. One of those companies gave me an estimate of $8000 to replace my furnace. I got a 3rd opinion from Alewife. Alewife dug further and realized that my problems with the water level were related to the radiator and its valves. They fixed my problem for $300 and the furnace is still working to date.

The plumber was very helpful, professional, and thorough. We had questions that he answered. He said if we had any other problems to let him know. He was here right when he said he would be and he did the work very well. We were very happy with it.

These guys are great, they are reasonable compared to other plumbers I've used and just get it done. Happy to make them the plumbers I use for all my needs.

A painless experience. Dave was professional, pleasant and efficient. Charged me the full hourly labor rate for ten minutes of work, but I'm very happy with the results.

I ve hired other plumbers before, for both plumbing and heating issues. This was by far the best experience. Pleasant and professional plumbing and office staff. It s been difficult to find decent plumbers to work in Beacon Hill and I m thrilled I found Alewife. My only disappointment: although Alewife does renovation work under a separate team, I never received follow-through on my two calls to do the work. I d call Alewife again for plumbing without hesitation and recommend them.
