Excellent! On time, reasonably priced, clean, neat, personable too.

They gave me a time window of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm,but called at 9:15 to say they could come earlier than 10:00. I was not available until 10:00 , so he came at 10:15. He was pleasant and went straight to work. The job was completed before 11:00. The area was left very clean where he had worked. The only thing that I would consider a negative is that the knob for the hot water now turns on, in the opposite direction. I'm not sure if that was done intentionally or by accident, either way it's not that big of a deal. The faucet is fixed. I would use them again.

This company was originally recommended by a neighbor after a bad experience with another company. They were professional, prompt courteous and efficient!!!!!!! These are the only plumbers I will ever use again. Don, the plumber was so professional and nice he explained what he was doing each step of the way. I will use Alewife Plumbing from now on and I highly recommend them to everyone!!!!!!!!!!

The plumber arrived late, had a quick look at the problem and left to find a part. He came back over an hour later with the part and fixed it in less than 15 minutes. They cost around $100/hour, charge for travel and take their time. He couldn't have been at my house for more than 20-30 minutes total.

It was fine. He came in and got the job done. He advised that the garbage disposal did not need to be replaced and that actually saved me some money. I would highly recommend him.

As you can see from the list above, Alewife provided a number of various services for this project. When we originally interviewed contractors for the job, what we really wanted to have done was just to replace some of the tiles in our shower with some leftover tiles we had and then to replace the vanity and medicine cabnet. Everyone else said they couldn't do the piecemeal work we were looking for and were more interested in gutting the entire bathroom and starting over. In other words, charging us more. Alewife was the only company that said they would replace only the necessary tiles and it wouldn't be a problem. This told us from the start that they were not trying to run up the job on us and we found that throughout the project. As we received more and more estimates we started to get more and more ideas of things we wanted to have done so we had Alewife come back in and estimate the job about three times. Each time they got us the estimate back quickly and detailed. Once the work started, they showed up on time every day they said they would. That alone makes them stand out among the many other contractors we have used through the years. And every night when they were done with the bathroom, they left in a usable condition, even though we were expecting some inconvenience during the process. The guys who did the construction work were very friendly and very easy to talk to, ask questions to and request changes last minute. And they were immaculate, even going so far as to wash our kitchen floor because they got dirt on it. After they were done, the plumbers came in and replaced the toilet and installed the new shower and sink fixtures. They too were very friendly and neat and showed up exactly when they were supposed to. The final guy was the tile grouter and painter and he was on time, friendly and efficient, just like everyone else. Overall, I can't say enough aboutthe quality of their work , their reasonable pricing and their professionalism. We would recommend them for any home improvement/plumbing job you might be ineterested in.

They diagnosed the problem and then came back to fix it. After it was fixed, there was a minor problem and they came back and fixed it without charge. Very respectful and were conscious of the clock and did not waste time.

Very professional and efficient completing the various tasks. Arrived on time and got right to work. Because it was bitterly cold and a bunch of emergency calls were coming in about pipes freezing they couldn't finish in one day. They promptly returned to finish the work within a few days. Currently considering an oil to gas conversion project but that is a lot more expensive and we will make a decision this spring about whether to get that work performed or stay with oil heating system.

The guy arrived exactly on time and worked efficiently. My dishwasher was going into an area where the existing cast iron plumbing had to be cut into and re-routed to make room for the appliance, which we didn't know until he opened up the wall. Needless to say this was going to involve a few hours' more work than the estimate (which I had gotten over the phone - initial estimate was for a couple hours at $96/hr). He burned through about 30 blades cutting through the cast iron, and did a great job routing the plumbing out of the dishwasher keep-out zone. He also installed new metal flex tubing and a shutoff valve for the gas range and removed the old chimney vent and capped it. When the appliances were delivered he came back to hook them up and test them. In all, the work was very well done and he was courteous and on time. It ended up being a lot pricier than I had planned for, but that would have happened regardless, unless the estimator had come by in person and seen where the cast iron drain was. Dealing with the office was very easy and I would certainly consider them for future work.

The plumber arrived on time and started working immediately. He was able to work with me to determine how much finishing work to perform. This was important, as it cut a few hours off the job and saved me money by allowing me to do some of the finishing up myself. Very easy to work with. Would definitely hire them again!

I was given a call from Alewife to let me know when to expect Pat who showed up soon after. Pat went right to work when he got here and was extremely patient as well as a good listener. He had me describe as best that I could of each of the issues. He did a great job!

Since we have started using them they have replaced drain pipes, cleaned drains etc --very good company

I got an appointment for when I wanted one. The repairman came on time, was very pleasant, and explained things well. He worked efficiently and tested everything. The charges were quite reasonable. It's been working great ever since. I will definitely call this company for my future plumbing repairs.

The job took over a month but they did everything they could to make it bearable for the household. For instance during the demo stages they cleaned as they demolished to limit the amount of dust, and every day at the end of the day they cleaned up the whole work site. This made it possible to live in the house while the work was going on. What I appreciated the most about working with them is that if I had to have an opinion about something which I knew nothing about it, which was often the case in the first stages of the job when they were working on everything that was in the walls and under the floor, they gave me the information I needed to weigh in. They were infallibly courteous and punctual and stayed within the estimate. I would and will very happily work with them again.

I've used Alewife several times and had the same experience: communications are refreshingly clear, explanations of options and costs are all up front. All work has been first rate.

I have never needed a plumber before so I am not sure how the pricing (92$ per hour) compares to other companies but I would definitely hire them again.

When we bought our new home, we were informed by the previous owners that there was a leak in the kitchen and it was being sold as is - this was also obvious by the shoddy patchwork in the ceiling and the inoperable second floor bathroom. Slightly dreading what could possibly be going on in the ceiling, we called Alewife Plumbing right after the holiday and they were able to come out the next day. On the day of the job they called ahead to let me know that the plumber was on his way and he arrived right on time. After a bit of forensics regarding the upstairs plumbing it was decided to open up the ceiling, he was very clean in laying down drop clothes and using a box to catch debris from the ceiling. It turned out to be a shoddy home repair job that was immediately obvious with the ceiling open, he went about removing the pipe and replacing the fitting up to the toilet flange above. I was happy with the work and it hasn't leaked since. There plumber was great in further walking me through my plumbing system from basement to top floor - which was much appreciated as 1st time homeowner. We have a variety of plumbing work coming up and won't hesitate to contact Alewife again.

I would recommend them to anyone. They did very well.

great, they had a little trouble finding the part and when they found out it may not come in before the long thanksgiving weekend, said they wanted to try find one that could be shipper quicker, they did and called to come install as soon as it got delivered.

As I told the plumber, I am pleased to do work with this company. I feel very comfortable having the plumbers into my home, knowing that they'll respect the space and keep it clean along with doing a topnotch job. I've found them to be very skilled and prompt. They've always made good suggestions and have warned me about possible problems that may arise -- eg, leaks in my old pipes.

They were super-- they came on very short notice the day after Memorial Day. They showed up promptly and worked efficiently. They are not cheap, but we have used them several times and their work has always been exceptional.
