I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Glassoff in 2008 when my wife and I were moving from CT and were looking for a condo in Brookline. Eric was our listing agent when we tried to sell our condo in Chestnut Hill in June. He was very knowledgable in the area and helped us decide on the right price point. He arranged all the necessary people we need to make our condo ready for the market and we were able to sell it on the first open house. What truly remarkable of Eric is his analytical skills and experience. Eric has helped us greatly in the process of buying residences in Brookline. The first time was in 2011, and we were unfamiliar with Brookline and the nearby areas of Boston. He was very effective at understanding our needs and giving us feedback weeks before our first visit. We were prepared to go through a long process of reviewing several prospective homes over perhaps two or even three trips, but we were able to find what we needed on our first trip on the third house we visited. We recently moved from San Francisco to the Boston area. Knowing nobody in the area we chose Eric based on online reviews. From what I can tell, in real estate as in any service business, you may find just fine professionals who do everything they're supposed to do. And then you may run into true big league folks whose level of service is so above and beyond, it's a different game altogether. Whether you find one kind or another in a rare dealing like buying a house is mostly random, so I'm glad we found Eric. Here are some highlights of how Eric helped us find a home: * Communicated with us over email and phone several times over months before the move date, answering questions and providing insights about the neighborhoods we were looking at. There was (at that and any other point in time) no pressure to agree to a commitment. * Visited a couple of houses on our behalf to scout, and gave us honest opinions. * Helped with choosing places to visit. The list of houses to see was created mostly by us, plus a few he found and suggested based on our general requirements. He didn't push for more expensive places or his faves. He did suggest two places that he knew would come to market soon, both worth knowing about. * Created a packed schedule over a 4-day visit before the move, so I could see many places to inform a decision. Drove me around, discussed with me, analyzed everything from all angles. * We were to decide between two houses with a large price differential. He didn't once seem biased toward pushing for the more expensive one (which was in fact a worse fit for us). * Once we decided to make an offer, he was on top of our chatter and negotiations around the clock in person as well as phone and email. He kept us informed at all steps and made sensible suggestions. * Recommended an excellent inspector who helped us shave off a good amount from the house price. * Got free estimates from three contractors for pre-move work (we were back in San Francisco at that time). After we chose one, he followed up with the contractor to make sure good work is being done. Note that at this point the sale was done so his official duties had ended. * Followed up with us during and after the move answering questions, asking about the quality of the house and contractor work. We recommend Eric as an exceptional real estate agent for the Brookline, Chestnut Hill, Newton and Cambridge areas.

Once I found a place I wanted to purchase we had to move fast to make an offer since the real estate marketing in the Boston area has low inventory. Eric guided me through the offer process and helped me determine what price to offer. We actually had to make a second and final offer because there were so many bidders. The seller picked our offer and then the process of closing began. Eric was very helpful with getting me in touch with a Mortgage lender. Eric was responsive and helpful from the first. By the way, I want to highlight that he was actually the SELLER's agent, and I was the buyer - but was so impressed with him that I'm writing him a review anyway! From the suggestions he made during the open house as to how I could make the place work for me (inventive and helpful suggestions that allowed me to picture myself there and make an offer on my dream place!) to midnight meetings at his office to submit offer after offer (I work late and was agonizing over offer details - and he took it all in stride) to helping guide both the seller and me (I had no buyer's agent) smoothly through the process, Eric was steady and calm. He is knowledgeable about the real estate market and process, but when something came up that he wasn't familiar with he did not hesitate to look it up, talk to colleagues, and get back to me with the answer. Moreover, he kept things civil through all parties at every interaction. I was especially impressed by his professionalism.. will leave out the details here but suffice it to say that he handled a difficult situation with grace and managed to stay neutral and professional throughout. As first time home buyers the process can be a very intimidating experience. Eric was a joy to work with from start to finish. From the first initial meeting, he listened to us and understood exactly what we wanted and didn't try to waste our time with properties that were way beyond our means.
