One Great Painter

It did not go, since I did not hire him based on our telephone conversation.

We received several estimates to have our newly purchased home painted and it came down to two options for us - John or another company which uses a team of painters. We decided to go with John and we could not be happier with the results!! A crew of painters would have taken much less time to do the job, but I loved the idea of having only one person- the actual painter- and not the "team manager" to work with throughout this process. I felt extremely comfortable with John and trusted him in our home (since we had not moved in yet) and leaving him the key since he prefers to start very early in the morning. I can be a bit "particular" about my home and decorating it, and I could not believe how patient John was the entire time he was on the job. He put up as many samples as I brought to him (many, many samples) until the colors were just right. John also schedules only one project at a time so I never had to worry when I was going to see him next. I am realizing in this process of home renovations that many contractors schedule several different clients at the same time and the date of completion is always open-ended. John showed up every day until the project was complete. And as far as his painting skills are concerned -John is an extremely skilled painter. He pays so much attention to detail! We could not be any happier with the job John has completed and not only would we recommend him to anyone looking for a painter, we would absolutely hire him again for any painting needs we may have in the future!

John came each morning on the selcted time - - always with a smile. We had just moved into the house, so much John faced was a bit chaotic. For example, my other daughter had moved into [temporarily] with her seven year old son and two 2 year old dogs. Nothing seemed to rattle John as he just continued painting and occasionally humming. The dogs grew accustomed to John as he talked with them and petted them each morning before beginning his work. I even could run to the store or pick up my grandson from camp, and John minded the house - - and the two dogs. When I could not figure out the location to program my GPS, John came to my rescue. He is so easy to have in the home. AND HIS WORK IS PERFECTION. Wherever he painted, looks new. He always asked for our opinions, but freely gave advice also. For example, we all agreed that a washable paint would be better for the hallways where grandsons' finger prints would be. And in the kitchen, we chose [with John's help] a low gloss, easily washable "kitchen and bath" paint. He made our home and our faces smile. I would highly recomend John DeYoung to you for his kindness, professionalism, expert talent, and good heart.

John was very communicative through the entire job. He arrived as scheduled, explained his work, and completed it as described. I provided the paint and he provided ally the rest. He was extremely neat and removed all trash.

Excellent overall experiencee. Painter worked a full 16 hour day to ensure the project was finished on time. Was extremely quiet and kept the area very clean. It's refreshing to come across a contractor that delivers exactly as promised, comes in on time and on budget. Painter was cordial but professional very comfortable to work with. Highly recommend.

John put in a very long day and painted a total of 3 ceilings. He went above and beyond what we expected, primed an area that had been plastered recently and fixed coutless imperfections in the ceiling before he painted. It looks great now. Also, he took the time to explain what he was going to do before he started the job. That gave us a lot of confidence. He left the place super-clean. All he left behind was a single sealed trash bag with the used rollers for me to throw away. We will have John paint our trim in the house in July and are already looking forward to the job.

He showed up on time and was very pleasant and professional. I supplied paint and removed items from the counters and walls. He did a lot of "cutting in" on the ceiling and walls with the brush and then rolled both to finish. I was a bit disappointed that he didn't clean the walls at all and didn't offer to fix any small holes. He worked at a steady pace, though maybe a bit slow for me. He did a nice job on the ceiling and ended up applying two coats of wall paint via the brush, but got only one rolled due to time and wet paint. Overall I was satisfied with the job and the service provider.

John was here for five days. He is a good guy and very easy to deal with. John was very flexible and willing to work with our schedule. It was reassuring to know that John only works on one project at a time rather than keeping multiple balls in the air.

After a couple of years in our newly constructed home we finally decided to start painting a couple of rooms and the stairwell. We then came across John, I?m the Painter on Angies List. John was very prompt in returning my inquiry and extremely friendly and easy to talk with. He asked several questions about the project and what we were looking to have done. While he had 3 other projects in front of us, he set a tentative date 3 weeks out and promised to keep us updated on his schedule. True to his word he called each week update us and let us know when he was going to be able to start our project, including the night before. When he arrived, he looked over the project and we then went over the paint to use. Having very little knowledge on the intricacies of paint, John took the time to educate me on what each paint type would give us, all while not talking down to me like some contractors do. He made suggestions on what he thought we should use on the walls, trim, and such based on what our home was like, including a dog that likes to swim and shake off in the entry room. He came prepared with everything he needed to get started right away. John's work was phenomenal. He was very meticulous in his work, making sure any holes or cracks were properly filled and keeping the job neat with no paint on places it should not be. He did not milk time out of the project, eating lunch he brought while puttering away and a few short breaks in between. He took pride in his work and it showed with the finished rooms. We are very happy with the outcome and will be using him as we decide on colors for the rest of the house. AWESOME john is and outstanding painter, very detailed, precise and diligent..the outcome is amazing. He is, perhaps more importantly a true professional, punctual, helpful, friendly, able to work with others always the first to come and last to leave, was often the one to coordinate other contractors...just a fantastic guy, a great painter and a pleasure to have around

Purchased big deal for one day of painting. John was very responsive and was good about staying in touch and reaching out as the date approached. As we discussed what needed to get done he said it might actually be two days worth of work if we wanted the trim and such done. John showed up when he said he would and did a very thorough and complete job over two days. Left the space clean at the end of the day. Overall very pleased with the job he did.

We are very happy with the finished project. John was scheduled to come for one day but ended up being available to come back the next day to finish the job. John was very detailed in his work and worked late on both days to get the job done. He was very clean and we so happy with his work that he is coming back at the end of the month to help us out with another room. We definitely would recommend him.

My living room is old and he was here for about 8 days. He was absolutely wonderful; he was prompt, professional, responsive, and clean. He went above and beyond. It was a pleasure to have him in my house and he did really good work. He was reasonable, reliable, and knowledgeable.

I called and left a voice mail, inquiring about getting an estimate for interior paint work; NEVER received a call back!

I contacted John right after I bought the coupon and he returned my email almost immediately! He was incredibly responsive and the level of customer service was amazing. He instructed me on exactly what to buy so that he could come and do as much painting as possible during the day. He followed up, and answered all my questions. When I told him I wanted to do the job as soon as possible he made it happen! He arrived exactly on time and worked without leaving for the whole day. He was so great to work with, extremely talented at his job, efficient and a pleasure to have in my house. I have rarely worked with someone so easy to work with, capable, reliable, efficient and trustworthy. He accomplished everything he said he would do and did it beautifully. He completely cleaned everything up after the job. My husband and I are thrilled with the work he did. I have already asked him to give me an estimate for more painting we need done. I have already recommended him to friends!

John contacted me within a couple of days of buying the coupon to set up an appointment. He was always professional and very nice to work with, and respectful of my house and furnishings. He showed up on time and left my house immaculate. He did a fantastic job with the painting and I highly recommend him.

John was very accommodating during the scheduling process. He is very friendly and polite. He was punctual the date of the work and was organized and neat. the quality of his work is excellent.

although he was not actually on site for the full 8 hours, he was great to work with and did a good job. he was easy going, and responsive in terms of working my job into his schedule. AND he has a more steady hand than i!

We were very pleased with John and the work he did. He is very conscientious and listens carefully to you, and it's clear that he cares a lot about the work he does and that he loves it, which I think is very important! He is also very patient. He left the area very clean each night and you could not tell that someone was working in the house! We would definitely recommend him to anyone needing work done. He was a pleasure to deal with.

It was a while between getting the price and actually having the work done. This was not a problem for me and I felt once he started he was very thorough. He said he'd be at my house at 8am and he was there. Wasn't sidetracked with other jobs.

Very happy! We will be keeping him in mind for other bigger jobs we will have in the future.

My experience with John DeYoung, owner of "I'm the Painter", was one of the best I've had with outside contractors! John painted an entry way for me - I have a raised ranch with very high ceilings in the entryway - including damaged walls with railings, woodwork, stone work and ceiling area. I had just put in new carpets in the the living room and both sets of stairs - John painted the white woodwork trim, ceiling and the walls. There was absolutely nothing - not one speck of paint - on the carpets or flooring. He prepared the walls and woodwork - he "faded" the new ceiling with the rest of the living room, so it looks fine until I have him paint the rest of the ceilings. Everyone who has seen the entry way is "wowed" - it looks great! John is extremely pleasant and professional - and timely. If he says he will call you at 6 pm, he does; if he says he will start work at 8 am, he is there. He is extremely prepared, never leaves the worksite all day - no running off to Home Depot like others I have had, and not showing up for two hours....very respectful of your time and your budget, makes great recommendations on products to use to get the finished result. I am already working on a list of projects for John, including hallway, ceilings, deck railings and the outside of the house! Hire him, you will not be disappointed!.

My experience with John was fantastic from start to finish. I had not used Angie's list before to hire a professional but was not up to the final painting steps of my remodel. John was prompt in responding to my request for a quote and made a great first impression. He was able to start immediately and was timely everyday. The most important part of this job was detailed painting and cutting in around all new cabinets, moldings, ect. He did an excellent job in all aspects of the job from setup to cleanup. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others. Thanks John, we appreciate the job you did.

I have know john for quite a few years. He's done many jobs for me at multiple properties (I'm a Realtor). He is very good at many things, including painting. I recently had him paint all three floors of a property that i own, from top to bottom. The work was done efficiently, in a very organized manner, with professional quality (he even gave me some painting lessons:) along the way. John is a remarkably neat painter and never left a mess anywhere. He helped me choose some very nice colors and he's got a great eye for detail. He's not the fastest painter in the world, and that's good, because I prefer quality over quantity. In summary, he's a GREAT painter and very easy going. If you're looking for neat and nice, this is your guy.
