One Great Painter

We found John through Angie's list, and he was able to come out right away to give us a quote, even on a Sunday. It worked out well too, since he lived not too far away. During his visit, he was thorough in giving us advice and recommendations. Also, he mentioned a website that we can go to figure out a color scheme, however I already made my mind up, and he was fine with that. We told John our expected date to get the whole house painted as we were having a housewarming party. He was able to start right away, and paint the trims, 2 bathrooms, laundry room, dining room, kitchen, living room, 3 bedrooms, base heaters, hallways, doors and closets - 1800 sq ft., within 2 weeks. He was able to move some of the furniture and remove blinds, as there were times we forgot. John provided daily updates via phone calls or texts to let us know which areas are done, and asked which area he should work on next. He also helped out with our dog by letting him out, as he was still getting used to the new house. John gave us a cleaning solution to clean the walls so it would ruin the paint, and also mentioned he would come back to do touch-ups. We would hire John again once we clean out our garage and figure out a color for our exterior door.

It went very well. We were impressed with the quality of the work, the professionalism, and John's thoroughness in correcting flaws within the walls and woodwork. He pays attention to detail, kept us apprised of his schedule, and was a plesuren to work with.

I hired John to paint my kitchen, living room and stairwell. He went above and beyond. He provided me with great direction, was always very responsive and did excellent work. I would highly recommend John.

We found John on Angie’s List and he quickly responded. John recommended we use the Benjamin Moore app to assist with picking colors which was extremely helpful. After we picked our colors John further assisted with determining colors and helped us with picking out finishes for the various rooms. John started work on time and completed work quickly. The quality of his work was superb. We are so happy with his work and would hire him again.

I am so glad that we found John on Angies List when we were looking for a painter to paint the interior of our new home. John quickly responded and came by to give us a very reasonable quote. Once John started we loved his work so much we kept adding more rooms and John was flexible enough to make it work. In the end he painted 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, our kitchen, and even helped us out with one of our bathrooms. John was incredibly patient with us as we kept changing our minds about colors and was incredibly respectful of our home. He made sure his materials were kept safe away from our toddler and dog and worked around our family's schedule--coming early when possible to get as much work done as he could for the day. Not only is John's work fantastic, but he is also a great guy. We will definitely be using him again in the future and highly recommend him!

I will start by saying that I do read many reviews prior to hiring a contractor, but I am usually too busy or lazy to reciprocate and write a review; in the case of John, the proprietor of "I'm the Painter", I am more than happy to take the time to write a review on his behalf and to tell others looking for a great interior painter, you will not be disappointed if you hire John. Everything John describes in his company bio is not just a flowery business mission statement intended to drum up business and get you to call, but is in fact exactly what you get; a professional, high quality result (the most important thing, of course), but also what I will call the "intangibles"; working with John was a pleasure. He is courteous, respectful, friendly and trustworthy; someone you can be completely comfortable with coming into your home. He did exactly what he said he would when he first came to look at the job. He started it and stayed on the job daily until complete, stays in contact by phone or text to let you know when he is arriving, keeps you updated on progress, and discusses the details along the way, offering helpful guidance and suggestions. The bottom line is, John is just an all around good guy that I feel lucky to have found here on Angie's List; I made a cold call, and it worked out great.

The painter emailed me a week after I contacted him through Angie's list. He said that he was booked and couldn't help us.

John has painted yet another large room for us. This is likely the 5th time we have hired him and once again he did an outstanding job. From prep, to buying the paint, to flawless work and cleanup ! We always count on him, you should too.

I hired John mainly because he came across as very trustworthy and genuinely interested in understanding and solving my problem. John was punctual, extremely easy to communicate with and completed the job to my satisfaction. He shared valuable suggestion about cleaning the walls and worked with us on changes we made to the job and identifying the right colors for our walls & baseboards. I would definitely re-hire John if/when the need arises.

Stumbling upon John on Angie’s List is one of the best things that has ever happened for my home. He is by far the best contractor that I have ever hired. From day 1 he was responsive and set up a mutually agreeable time for a consultation. John instantly exudes his passion for painting and his expert knowledge about painting. John is excellent. This is at least the 3rd time we have had him paint in our home. He works very hard and isn't intrusive. He works very quick but does an amazing job. His estimate are exact with paint needed and time required. We really like having him around!

John was always punctual. He took great care to fix original tape errors from 1986! Result was flawless. Job took 2 weeks.

John did an amazing job. We needed most of our first floor and stairway to be painted. John met with us and made many good recommendations, not only for general things like paint sheen but also for specific types of paint for our bathroom, risers, entry door, and other trim. John clearly communicated his order of work, was able to work around our family, and kept the worksite very clean. We hired John to paint the house and I can't believe how lucky we were to come across John. He is the best painter we have EVER met! John came in every day on time, did an outstanding job painting, its very impressive what a beautiful job he does! He is compassionate about his work and it shows. Every day we would come back home to be astonished what he had accomplished. John is dependable, he texted us pictures of the progress during the day and even offered to let out our puppy to the bathroom during the day, while we were at work :) He is very easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, helped us during the process of picking the colors and guided us trough the entire process. John is very neat. He has all his paint cans and brushes neatly arranged on a mat.There was not one drip of paint on our hardwood floors. I honestly can't say enough about John and the work he provides. Lastly, one thing that we need to share, John told us about paint cleaner for walls, in case we get a little hand print on walls or whatever else may happen, and I totally forgot to ask him for the name of it. After John finished his work and left we remembered we forgot to ask him for the name of the product to clean the walls. We texted him and he answered right away. He told me he already got a bottle of the product and left it in the garage. How sweet is that??? We will be painting the entire upstairs of the house as soon as John is available. John was the perfect painter! He did such a fabulous job. Starting from the first meeting he discussed every detail with me so I always knew what to expect. You can rely on John to be on time and put in a full day of work everyday. Our house is old and john did an amazing job bringing it back to life. He is extremely knowledgeable about what types of paint should be used and he is a master painter! My old house has never had such crisp lines! He is super neat and just a pleasure to work with. We can't wait to have him back to do our upstairs and our dog is already missing him! You can't go wrong with John...reliable, neat, conscientious...he's the best!

John did an excellent job. He's VERY thorough, a thoughtful planner, and a perfectionist - which is exactly what you want in a painter. He's prompt, responsive, and constantly communicating throughout the process. Because of all this, we ended up having him do much more work than we had originally anticipated. This was my first home and I wanted to find a painter who would be precise and thorough. I knew from our initial meeting that John was the one to work with. He is probably the most personable and sincere contractor I've ever worked with. His knowledge of paints, sheens, and overall attention to detail is remarkable. My original plan was to just freshen up the existing neutral color with one coat. But I soon realized if I was ever going to do this right the first time (knowing that I had probably the best painter on the planet), I could pick out the colors I really wanted now and not have to worry about changing a few years down the road. John is very organized and always thinks two steps ahead of the sequence that he plans. Its nice to have time to think about room colors while other rooms are being completed. John made the whole process very relaxing and enjoyable, because he has it all planned out and completes rooms in the order of my preference. I've told him many times that I feel lucky that I got him. After the whole project was completed and my friends and family came to visit, they were amazed at how crisp and perfect each room looked. They were shocked to learn that one painter completed the entire home In such a super efficient method. John is definitely methodical about how he approaches large projects, and that is a great asset that not many contractors have. If you're looking for a boutique type experience with personalized service and great communication throughout your project, then this is the guy for you. His pricing is very fair especially considering what you get. Peace of mind is priceless.

John was tremendous! John started and finished the job exactly when he said. He would text me at the end of the day to let me know what he had done that day and what he would get accomplished the next. Great communication! He left every room so neat, it really was appreciated. John is very meticulous and he really just did a beautiful job. I really liked that he worked alone, it made the project so much less stressful for me. John was able to patch up holes in one room and also painted the vanity and mirror in bath. I would absolutely use John again and have already recommended him to family that is looking to do some painting at their home. Highly recommend!!

His knowledge of paint and his passion for his work is admirable. He pays as much attention to the prep work as he does the painting. The end results is perfection. John is such a likeable guy. He is an extremely hard worker. He is very neat and careful not to drip paint on anything. I think he could paint in a tuxedo.
