The construction went well. Started when scheduled. High quality craftsmanship. Junior was on the project most days supervising and making sure we were happy with the workmanship. Craftsmen were highly skilled professionals, who were respectful and hard working. Often working long hours to finish the project. Junior consulted us on every aspect of the project and offered creative and alternative suggestions.
Description of Work: Lost our deck after heavy winter storm. New deck was installed to the same specifications. Junior helped work with the insurance company, he got the permits and the inspector"s required inspections in a timely manner. He knows all the ins and outs of the Boston permitting and inspectional services requirements. All costs were included in the estimate. No surprises.

In the spring/summer of 2014, I interviewed many painting companies when I was looking to hire a painter last year to paint the exterior of our home. Celio was very responsive and came in with the lowest price with a contract that was comparable to the other painters. We explained to him in advance that there were many sections of our house that tended to peel and he assured us that his team would properly "prepare and hand sand all surfaces so new paint or stain bonds securely"...Socel Painting Contract dated 8/29/2014. In addition, the contract that we signed stated that they would "prep & paint window trims (exterior only.)" That did not happen...they did not touch the windows at all and told my husband that they were not obligated to do that. Additionally, we have wrought iron railings on a patio in back and contracted with them to "prep. and paint rails, balusters." That did not happen. When we pointed that out to Celio's crew on the final walk through (Celio did not do that himself), they were annoyed with us, insisted that they were not required to do it. When we showed them the agreement, they simply came out and put a coating of paint on the railings and did not properly prepare them before painting. They are now pitted and not smooth. I pointed that out after the fact and was told that they would not redo it. As with most paint contracts, our contract included a clause that said that our worksite would be "cleaned on a daily basis" and they would use "plastic sheetings, vacuums ad drop clothes as needed." It was also promised that there would be a "complete cleanup of job site on a daily basis." That so did not happen...I subsequently found gutter brackets that they removed and threw into the bushes, paint chips all over the lawn that I cleaned up with the leaves last fall and paint chips still in our yard a year later. They threw nails into the bushes that were holding the drain pipes onto the house. I have picked those up throughout the year. On April 27, 2015, I notified Socelvic that our house was peeling and showed them pics of the spots of our house that was peeling. I also informed them that I wanted them to remedy this before our 1 year warranty on the paint job expired. (The final payment that we made was in November 2014, so Celio had plenty of time to fix the peeling paint.) We met in early May and he assured me that he would send a crew during the first week in June to fix the peeling/cracked paint. They never showed up. On June 22, 2015, I emailed Celio to find out when his crew would be showing up. He never replied. On July 2, 2015, I sent yet another message to Celio and still did not hear from him. On August 27, 2015, I sent him another email telling him that I was going to contact an attorney....still no response. In the meantime, both my husband and I have left numerous voice messages for Celio requesting a response to our request. We have heard nothing. Our house looks terrible now, and has more and more peeling paint and bubbles. We asked Angie's List to intervene and they told me that I have to write a bad review before they will step in. I've been very reluctant to do this, since Celio has threatened other people who have written bad reviews. If Celio had returned our phone calls and/or responded to our emails, we would have been willing to resolve this without writing a negative review, but I now have no choice but to post this. For anyone looking to hire Socelvic, DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!

We work very hard to provide the most professional work as best as possible. Unfortunately there were some areas on the house that the paint bubbled and cracked which can happen for various reason. We called to schedule the paint job but our schedules did not match. We stand by our work and make sure our customers are satisfied.

Celio and his team were very professional, pleasant and efficient. They arrived on schedule and finished the work right on time. The quality of the products used and construction was superior and the price we were able to negotiate was VERY competitive. We would highly recommend Socelvic Company for any construction job and intend to use them on a bigger project in the future.

It took a few phone calls to get on their calendar after mailing back contract and deposit, but once they got going, they continued steadily until it was done. I worked with Alex, son of the owners, who was professional and eager to satisfy. There was some confusion about the quote - whether the gutter painting was included - but after showing them an email trail that explained that gutters were part of the job, the work was quickly and efficiently completed without any argument. I would also like to add that the work was neat and clean. I would hire Solcevic Company again and happily recommend them to friends.

Celio re-scheduled our meeting once, but did arrive on time for the rescheduled meeting to look at the work. He indicated it was a job his company would want to do and he would mail me an estimate within a week. He never sent an estimate. It was a bit annoying, as I had to take some time off of work to meet him at my house

Made an appointment for an estimate in early spring. Work included water damage repair to a 2 family home along with a porch renovation. Estimate appointment went well and I was told I would hear back with a proposal within a week. After about two weeks passed, I called to follow up. I was told I would receive an estimate in a day or so. Never received anything. I understand that workers are busy after the destruction of this past winter, but there is no excuse for failing to follow up with a potential customer, even to pass on the job.

I contacted this companyto get a quote on an EXTENSIVE front-porch rebuild. Company called me back and arranged 8:30am meeting this morning as they want to do quotes BEFORE they go to actual construction jobs. . I worked until 7am today and drank hot coffee to stay awake for the visit. I could barely keep my eyes open at 8:30am. By 9am I was still sitting and waiting. I called to see what had happened and no one picked up the phone. I left a message and no one called back. If a contractor is late or a 'no show' before you've hired them, this is a BAD sign that punctuality is probably not a priority. I have now lost TWO HOURS of sleep I could have gotten and they couldn't even pick up my call or call me back. I wouldn't call this good customer service at all. If a $40,000-$50,000 porch redo isn't big enough, at least have the courtesy to call a day in advance and cancel!
Description of Work: They provided nothing because they didn't even show up for the appointment THEY made to quote this extensive construction job--and didn't call to cancel. I wasted the last two hours awaiting their arrival. Boo hiss! I called, left a message and heard nothing back. Who doesn't apologize for such a mess up? Sheesh!

This was the best overall experience we have had with a service company in the 22 years that we have owned our house. We have done several substantial projects over the years and this was by far the most seamless process of them all. This is a truly well-run business and everyone we dealt with was professional, personable and knowledgable. Celio came out very promptly to look at the house in early May. I told him that we needed the work done by mid-June. The bid was written up within a day - it was clear, concise and detailed. It was obvious that they know exactly what they are doing and every detail was addressed in the estimate. They started the work less than a week later and there was a crew here all day every day for two and a half weeks until the work was done. The foreman, Bruno, was wonderful and communicated with us daily about the progress. Every one of the painters and carpenters was professional, respectful and a pleasure to have at the house. The were very neat and careful and tidied everything up at the end of every day. The job went like clockwork and they worked their way through every inch of the house. They truly did an outstanding job - the house looks beautiful. I recommend them wholeheartedly, We will absolutely use them again. If all businesses were like this there would be no need for Angie's List!

The entire Socelvic Company crew, from the owner Celio, to every painter, carpenter, and workman are all exceptionally skilled, professional, punctual, and easy to work with. The crew arrived each morning at 7:00 AM, sometimes a little earlier, and didn't leave until 6:30 or 7:00 PM each evening. They worked incredibly fast and efficiently. We had our entire house and deck painted and all exterior woodwork repaired in only 1 week! This is very unusual - the previous 2 times we had this house painted it took 2 weeks or longer. Celio Vicente, the owner, is wonderful to work with. He gave us a very detailed quote/contract and alerted us immediately when additional costs might be incurred. Anna, who runs the office, was also exceptionally efficient as we had a number of communications back and forth regarding the work. I highly recommend Socelvic Company to anyone needing painting or carpentry work. They are a wonderful company to work with.

Socelvic did a fantastic job. Junior from the outset was extremely knowledgeable and responsive, which together with their reasonable estimate sold us on using them. The quality and efficiency of their work was outstanding. They started within a week of when they promised, and the crew worked extremely hard to finish the whole job in three weeks. Throughout when any questions arose Junior was very skilled in explaining the issue/problem, and helping us (three condo owners) come to a consensus about a solution. Communication throughout was excellent. Junior's assistant Ana did an excellent job of facilitating passing along information (both to and from the clients). The attitude of the whole crew was respectful and professional. We are thrilled with how our new deck looks and feels and how quickly it was constructed. Given what we've heard about other people's terrible experiences with contractors, we were delighted with how smoothly the process went. A big two thumbs up!
Description of Work: Tore down and rebuilt a rear triple deck. Original deck was warped and on a faulty footing, new deck was all pressure-treated wood. Job involved demolition of the old deck, repair of the footings, and construction of a new triple deck, including back staircase.

Fabulous work. Very neat and precise. More than happy to accommodate any change requests. Up front with pricing and contract details. No confusion. The painting team was terrific - professional, very kind and courteous. The owner, Celio is a peach! Just a wonderful guy with a lot of experience. The project manager, Bruno, was just fabulous - could not do enough for us. We are very proud of the work they did. Meticulous, and done swiftly without cutting corners. I would recommend them to ANYONE. You will not be disappointed.

See above for an update. Celio has gone back on his word more times than I can count, contradicted himself, played the victim, made baseless accusations against me, sworn at me, and been combative with me. I warn any prospective customer of his to be on guard against his antisocial and unprofessional behavior. He has also demanded changes to Angie's List reviews under threat of court action. I would use that context to color his great reviews on Angie's List: I'd expect that anyone who badmouths him is intimidated, threatened, and abused until they relent. Not me. Celio owes me $1000; he has agreed to give me $1000, he has said it is not a problem to give me the $1000, and he has said it is not a hardship to give me $1000. Verbal contracts are binding, he trades on his word being true and believable. I await him standing up and honoring his contract with me, and will seek redress if he does not. Initially, it seemed to go great. In January, we agreed on a contract for work to be done in April and August, and gave them a $1000 deposit. We agreed the work would be in two phases - in April, starting on April 20, at the beginning of school vacation week, for a couple-day project on our front stairs, followed in August by a longer project redoing our bathroom. The stairs work was scheduled for a time we could be in our home because it involved working on the front door and its surrounding area, and we were not comfortable leaving the house unlocked and wide open without one of us being there. Celio was informed of this reason for our scheduling from the outset. On April 15, the week before work was slated to start, I emailed and called the office, saying I wanted to do any prep or advance work so we could have the materials selected and in hand for work to begin on Monday, April 20 as agreed. Two days later I got an email from the office manager that we would need an enormous check - far larger than we had agreed. I objected, and got a promise that Celio would call me. I asked for him to email me the information because I was at work and unable to take calls. I got an email that appeared to straighten out the payment issue, but still did not address my desire to choose materials and do other prep work. On Sunday evening I finally was able to connect with Celio, who told me to go to a website for a materials supplier and pick out the color we wanted. He said he would see me Monday morning with his crew. On Monday morning, we did not hear from him and I emailed to find out when we should expect him. We still had not talked about ordering the materials. I eventually heard back from him that because it was raining, no workers would be coming to our home that day. He was not interested in discussing materials or other work. Tuesday morning arrived and I again tried to find out when Celio would be coming by. He showed up alone and began taking measurements of the front stairs, and brought us some samples of materials. He said because it was raining, no work would be done that day either. So we had lost two days of potential work - not because of rain but because no advance prep work had been done to even attempt to meet our agreed-upon schedule. On Tuesday morning we selected materials and agreed that he would be there Wednesday morning with his crew and the materials. I gave him a check for an additional $1600 for materials. On Wednesday morning I got an email from him saying the materials would not be available until Thursday afternoon, so the crew would be there Friday. At that point, I was looking at having lost the entire week we had set aside for the project. I asked the office manager if the crew would work over the weekend to have it done; she said she wasn't sure. During the day on Wednesday, I emailed and spoke on the phone with her and with Celio several times in an attempt to understand what was happening. At one point, Celio started telling me that I should just be quiet and not complain and let him do his work. I reminded him that I was the customer, he had our money, and we had agreed on a schedule that he was breaking. He repeatedly claimed that Monday and Tuesday were lost work days because of rain - when they were clearly lost days because he had failed to to proper prep work, even despite my efforts to get him to do that in advance. In the end, Celio informed me that the materials for the stairs alone were going to cost $400 more than he had estimated (not to mention whatever we might discover about the bathroom materials when that time came), and that work would begin on Friday but might not be finished until Monday or Tuesday of the following week. That did not work with our budget or our schedule - my wife and I were not able to be there on those days to be at the house while the front door was unlocked and wide open. I spoke with my wife and she and I agreed to cancel the entire project because work had not begun on schedule, communication about the project had been terrible, and because the cost Celio had quoted was significantly lower than he was now telling us it was actually going to be. On the phone when I told Celio we were canceling, I specifically told him we expected our deposit returned. He told me he did not think there would be a problem with that. I contacted my bank and had the $1600 check canceled, but he still had the $1000 deposit we had paid in January. I sent him an email shortly after our phone conversation, reiterating what we had just said to each other on the phone. I have not heard from him since. I have left him voicemails on his cell phone and at his office, and sent emails seeking information on when we can expect our refund. On May 9 - two and a half weeks after the project was canceled - I left him messages indicating I expected to hear an update from him within two business days and to receive the refund by mail within five business days. Today is May 15, five business days after May 9. I have neither heard from Celio nor did we receive the refund in the mail or to our credit card as of the close of business today. I am writing this in the hopes that Angie's List can help. Other courses of action I am considering are contacting my credit card company to seek a charge-back, filing a claim in small claims court, and filing a criminal complaint for theft by deception. I have done none of those things yet, in hopes that Angie's List can help sort this out and get our money back.
Description of Work: UPDATE 5/18/15: Celio contacted me on 5/16 to say he would deliver the check to me on Monday. On Monday morning, I got an email saying I had to sign a form taking down the review. His office called me to ask me to sign a form agreeing to take down my review from Angie's List. I said Celio had already agreed to deliver the refund, so there was no need to sign anything. Celio called, told me "You're not getting no check." Then he swore at me, told me he "don't mind giving you the refund" and then said he'd see me in court, and hung up on me. Socelvic was supposed to come to our home and rebuild our front stairs in April, followed by an August redo of one of our bathrooms. What Socelvic did was take $1000 of our money and fail to perform any work on the stairs as agreed. And despite agreeing to refund our deposit on April 22, Socelvic has yet to do so, or to be in touch with any information about when we can expect our money back.

Were punctual. Bill me using credit card which is very convenient. They follow a well-defined formula of how they will charge based on snowfall amounts. My only reason for giving "B" rating is that they do just enough... pass by with snow blowers but don't try to get down to the pavement. They were as creative as they could have been with the massive amount of snow we had in winter 2014.

I walked-in to provider location in Brighton couple days ago to schedule an appointment for the contractor to come and take a look at the project (Bathrooms renovation). Ana at the reception scheduled and confirmed one for today May 7th in the afternoon 12:00 Pm- 1:00 PM. She said her supervisor will be coming down at the address i provided to take a look at the project when she confirmed the appointment. I had to schedule the time with the seller and realtor for us to get in to the condo. Nobody showed up for the appointment!! I called the office multiple times to check if someone is on their way or not. They neither answered nor responded to my voice messages. Pretty sweet! Two and half hours of my time wasted. All i expect is a cancellation call at the minimum.

Celio showed up on time for the estimate, and he provided a written estimate for the work within 3 business days. His prompt communication and reliability were appreciated. We did not work with Celio because of price. Two other carpenters who looked at the job said we'd need to replace the porch footers and repair some rotted wood. Their estimates were in the 4000-7000 range. In contrast, Celio said the porch would have to completely rebuilt and that maybe the roof could be saved. For an entire rebuild, his quote was 19,000. Since neither of the other companies agreed a complete rebuild was necessary, we went with someone else.

They gutted and renovated our small bathroom. They also replaced the subfloor and some plumbing in the wall, which was not originally quoted. So the priced ended up being 50% more than estimated (quoted $6000, but paid $9000 for labor and construction materials). We paid and provided all the fixtures/tub separately. The owner showed up the first day, but then only his workers came after that. We had no other bathroom and had to use a neighbors so they said the job would be done in 7 days. After the first few days, they didn't show up and we had to complain. So they started coming in every day after that, but mainly in the afternoon and into the evening- which was loud and disturbing for our neighbors. Finally the job was done in 10 days and then the owner showed up just to collect the check. He also had an Angie's List review form printed out and insisted we fill out right there and give it to him. I refused because I thought that was unethical. His workers were professional though and came back to caulk and fix some cracks.

Excellent work, Great pricing & Extremely professional.... I've used Junior and his team on multiple projects that included; complete remodels, kitchens, baths, painting, flooring etc (my own home & income properties). Basically I've gotten to the point where if I need anything I give Junior a call to do the work. It's not always the biggest jobs (sometimes it is!) but if I give him a call he's always right there. Before I started working with him, I was always concerned about how responsive/trustworthy a contractor would be. After working with these guys for a few years I don't have that concern anymore. Junior is my go to guy. My last project was a complete gut and refinish a decent size kitchen. As usual the work was completed on time, on budget and the fit & finish was great. They really walk you through what is going to happen and what you should expect. If something does come up they're very proactive/straight forward about what the issue is and give you a few ways to fix it. They definitely give you the feeling that you are part of a team and everyone is going in the same direction. I don't have enough good things to say about Junior and the team. I look forward to working with these guys in the future and highly recommend them to anyone!!!!
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel.

Our old clapboard house had a lot of random damage: porch floors and random sections of wall were peeling, some faschia needed replacing, the bases of a fence were so wobbly, they needed to be rebuilt. Celio came, surveyed the house, and noticed, with an eagle eye, all that needed to be done. A reasonable bid came soon after, and, in part given the superlative Angie's list reports, we signed on. We're so happy that we did. Elias and his colleague Ervin? (it was an unusual name) worked with precision, care and obvious pride in their work. Celio came by several times, to be sure the work was outstanding, and to see if there was anything else they could do. It's a large house and there was a lot of work. Everything turned out beautifully. The whole experience was a pleasure! We happily will continue to call on Socelvic, for ongoing maintenance of our home!
Description of Work: Painting: Scrape and sand peeling wood on porch banisters, floors, clapboards. Repaint many areas of the house where paint had peeled (base of columns, dormers, moldings, etc.) Treated some areas for mildew. Repainted areas in basement where paint had peeled, and interior front door. Carpentry: Replaced rotted faschia, rebuilt the bases of a fence.

The company did a great job and was very helpful. Even when additional issues were identified with the deck, the company was always straight forward and set expectations very well. In addition, when the materials ended up being cheaper than expected, the company wrote me a check back for the amount that I over paid. It is a sign that they take customer service and experience very seriously.
Description of Work: Replaced rotten wood on my back deck and corrected structural issues.

The crew was incredibly hard working, and they did a beautiful job. Celio, the owner, was very responsive, and very involved to make sure everything went smoothly. The crew was very professional, and they were terrific about cleaning up and being respectful of our neighbor's needs. As I mentioned, we were very pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the crew. The one thing to be aware of in working with Socelvic is that they work very fast. They work with a large crew, and everything moves very quickly. We weren't very experienced with this kind of project, and we had a little trouble staying on top of the costs. The costs were fair, we were just a little surprised in the end. I would definitely use Socelvic again, I would just make sure that I did a better job of staying on top of the communication about costs.
Description of Work: Exterior paint of a 2 family home. Replace shingles as needed. Repair porch stairs.
