Description of Work: They first examined the garage door opener system and found that one of the wires was about to break, they showed that to me, we talked about repairs that might last a bit of time, and cost of a new one, which, because of our space they had to cut down to fit.

Description of Work: he was supposed to do some service and maintenance for the charged $145. Instead, he just gave a high priced quotation ( I got the same work done later for half the price)without doing anything; and said that is what I get for the money I paid and that is how the angies list jobs work. I never understood what does he mean by that.

Description of Work: My 40 year old double overhead garage door had partially slipped of the guide on one side. The Goodrow representative determined that bearings in one of the original rollers were gone, causing it to collapse and come out of the guide when attempting to open and close the door. Replaced all rollers, lubricated all movable joints, and straightened out one of the roller guides. Process took about one hour. Door has worked perfectly now for the past several weeks. |

+ 0 moreThey did a good job, The only complaint is that the doors are a bit too short in length and they had to put a strip if plastic molding around the edge of the door that makes it look a little cheap. Also, the door lands on the ground a little unevenly and this makes the door settle off horizontal which shows the unfinished edge of the door. I think this could have been avoided if the man who came out to measure had added an inch or two to the width of the door and tested the door once installed to see if a rubber bumper was needed to keep it horizontal.
Description of Work: Work done very well. On time and cleaned up after. I ordered through Sears. Replaced two garage doors with windows and new tracks.

Jay listened to our needs and concerns (my husband and I could not agree on door types etc.). Compared to the other companies we felt Jay was the most knowledgeable and had the best prices. Above all else Jay provided excellent customer service. Jay helped us choose the door that was best for our budget and our home. He and his partner installed the doors and they look fantastic. What a difference. Of all the work we have done to our home I think we get the most compliments on our new garage doors.Since the installation Jay has even called us to check in and make sure everything was ok! I could not be happier. I would highly recommend Jay Goodrow to anyone!

+ -1 moreI found Jay, owner of Goodrow Overhead Door, in the yellow pages for the South Shore. Jay came over to provide an estimate for the installation of new garage doors. He was very pleasant and his price was very fair. After meeting other garage door professionals and getting other estimates we decided to go with Jay. He arrived on the promised date and time as stated in an email to me. The installation of the garage doors was done within four hours and Jay did a great time. Jay is a very nice man and I would recommend him to anyone.
