I had an angies list coupon i had to use so I just had them repair the tub faucet to get it off my hands and of course that ended up being more than the coupon and the cold faucet on the tub now leaks. Overall if you check yelp this company is not reviewed well at all and I wished I had checked there before buying a coupon since Angie's List had them rated A! Makes me not trust angie's list anymore.

Quality Service, professional and and punctual. Service man was very friendly and gave lot of good information. But I am a bit disappointed on the pricing. Would have give overall A rating if the price were reasonable. Even after having yearly service plan ($265), Blower replacement costed $670 and flame sensor another $310. When I did a general search in the net to know price range for such services, found that both these prices are well above maximum range.

Based on my experience with Papalia, I would never use them again under any circumstances.

We received a call at 3 a.m. from our tenant that the hot water heater in the unit had died. It was a Saturday, which meant that the two other plumbers I would normally use were not available as they don't have weekend hours. Papalia was the closest plumbing outfit that offered emergency weekend service, so I called them first thing. They were responsive and got someone out there promptly, so good marks for that. However, once I got the pricing estimate it was downhill. I have had hot water heaters replaced in the past and I am friends with someone who owns their own plumbing business, plus I know what a 40 gallon tank costs. So I knew what approximate price to expect, even adding on the $150 weekend charge. Imagine my surprise when it was double the cost I expected. Unfortunately I was in a position where I felt we owed it to our tenant to get it fixed ASAP, and not ask her to wait around without water for a couple days until my regular guy was available. When I got to the unit to meet the plumber he was not there. Turns out he brought a 50 gallon tank even though I ordered a 40. So he had to leave for an hour to get the correct item. Finally, when he came back I pushed for exactly why it cost twice as much as it should. The long, begrudging answer involved overhead costs, markups, personnel costs, etc. The short answer could be summed up as "we're bigger than the other plumbers around so we have more stuff to pay for, so we cost more". I told him I understand the concept of overhead and operating costs. But I don't find that to be a compelling argument. If operating costs/company size translated directly to product cost, then when I order a DVD from amazon.com it should cost about $300. Companies get larger because they operate on the basis of selling more volume; the operating costs increase, the margin shrinks, but the volume rises to compensate. He also mentioned that, while they don't charge on an hourly basis, the hourly rate they use to calculate their service charges is $270/hr. $270 per hour?? I've experienced $100 to $150, but never anything nearly that high. Perhaps I've just been lucky enough to work with exceptionally reasonable plumbers in the past, and Papalia is the norm. But I doubt it. This was a weekend and a semi-emergency, so I had to work with what I had. But never again. Their work is fine, and if you want to pay double-premium rates for perfectly adequate work by all means call them. Otherwise keep shopping. UPDATE 03/18/15: After reading the owner's response below, I contacted him directly. After a polite exchange where I elaborated on my concerns with our transaction, he offered to reimburse us $200 of the cost. While I stand by my assertion that Papalia's pricing is excessive (and even with a $200 refund it's still a pricey water heater), I do genuinely appreciate a business owner who takes the time to try make things right. More appreciated even than the refund is the fact that Mr. Papalia was very responsive and polite; some businesses would have been neither in the face of a bad review. It's a positive gesture that demonstrates his commitment to his business and his customers, and I felt it was only fair to update my review to reflect that

The telephone staff were courteous and arranged for a next day appointment. Mike arrived as planned, was friendly, explained what he planned to do and gave an estimate before starting the work. We had been interested in having our tub drain snaked, but he stated he didn't want to waste our money on that service as it was only slow draining and not clogged. He recommended using an enzyme based drain cleaner 1-2x a month. I appreciated his honesty about this rather than just taking our money. He completed the faucet replacement and water heater repair in a timely manner and cleaned everything up afterwards. I was very happy with their service and would use them again.

I will recommend them. They are punctual. The quote they give is good and attractive. The quality of service is good. They do nice work. I decided to use them because of their price and the kind of rating they have on Angie?s List. They have positive ratings.

I bought the Big Deal for Papalia Plumbing & Heating Inc. They replaced the toilet. Comments: They did a good job. There was no additional charge, everything was included. They delivered what they promised. It was a good experience. They were on time. They price they quoted was what they stuck to.

Needed a new hot water heater. Mine 13 years old running on borrowed time. I had used Papalia twice before to replace my central air and then last year to replace my furnace. I was pleased with the results both time so I called them again. Can't say enough about their technician Jose. He had put in my furnace last year and he was back to install the tankless hot water heater. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly, meticulous in his work are just a few to describe him. Job looks great and now I don't have to worry about hot water for a very long time. Also Dave who came out to give me a estimate was helpful in getting me the best price. When I contacted them about fixing my kitchen sink, they could not get out immediately and I needed this done right away. I decided to go with someone else for this project. They were professional on the phone.

They have a good reviews on Angie's List and it seems like a good company to work with. They were punctual, they explained everything that he's looking at and what's needed to be done. They seemed to be trustworthy and well-run company. We had to get some actual work done for our AC last summer and I don't think that they were ripping us off but they were just a little expensive than I thought they would be.

I actually expected him to do more than what he did. It was just a visual check. He just removed some panels and took a look. But, I expected him to have a thorough look.

They charged 50$ for the estimate, which most of the plumbers do not do.

Free as part of my annual Papalia membership. Examined my gas furnace for possible maintenance needs. It checked out fine.

They repaired a tube under the sink. Everything worked out fine.

Initial estimate appointment was prompt and on time. Things were going well and the person was professional. He said they would send an estimate within 2 weeks. 2 weeks go by, no estimate. I emailed and called the person directly, he said he would get it out next week. Repeat the cycle for multiple weeks and then he no longer returns my emails or calls. Still no quote or response. I didn't even get a price. Ultimately went with another provider.

They are courteous and competent. They are very friendly. I call them first because I know that they are trustworthy.

They cleaned up well after themselves. Scheduling an appointment went just fine and they arrived on time. The work took longer than anticipated.

Excellent job and attitude, very professional, price is great, (well, i know this is a deal price) I would definitely use the service in the future.

It's very clear-cut. Was not sure if the person performing the plumbing work was a licensed plumber or a tech mission of sorts. However, I liked how he came with the book of pricing for the whole job you knew what you were getting and how much you were going to pay for it. There were no shenanigans in pricing.

Papalia got the job done. We had a mis-communication but Jim Papalia (owner) personally stepped in and kindly handled the situation. We would use again.

Problem was in the valve. To find problem, broke through ceiling of basement downstairs. Took down vanity light and cut a cross beam as well as ruining about three square feet of plaster. But since the problem was with the valve, was the ceiling hole necessary? Left with big ceiling repair bill.

I requested three dates in October. When I called to follow-up, I learned that they do not provide service to the town in which I live.
