They charge $50 just to go out, which I was aware of. Also, they seem to be a very large chain, so you could get very different service from one person to the next. I used Papalia once before and was happy with the service but this time was different. $800 seems like a h*** of a lot of money for less than 2 hours worth of work. Materials couldn't have possibly cost more than $50 (1.5 section of pipe and plumbers putty) . . . so plumbers get over $400 dollars an hour for labor? yikes! Add to that the the finish on the tub was chipped and cracked during the job. It's a small chip and a hairline crack and I plan on having the tub refinished anyway but for $400 an hour I'd at least expect no damage done. From now on I'm going to find a plumber that isn't a chain. Wasn't sure how to rate "professionalism" . . . he was very polite and seemed like a good guy, despite the cost and damage done to the tub. Though he did try to collect a "50% down payment" on a second job that I had him write a quote for. lol.

They contacted me, we set up an appointment, they emailed me a picture of the plumber before he came, notified me he was on his way and he was on time. He me an estimate which I considered to be high, but given the problems with other plumbers, I decided to accept the estimate. They scheduled the appointment for the very next week and did excellent work. Mark answered all my questions, He and Lewis got the job done in one day as promised and they cleaned up after themselves. The work ended up costing more than the original estimate, but Mark had warned me that giving me a final quote would require opening up the walls to see what the problem was. Thus far I'm very happy with the service and the quality of work I got.

He advised me of my options after reviewing the current state of my plumbing. He immediately took apart my old plumbing and advised me through the process of what needed to be done. Once I provided my OK, he quickly retrieved the appropriate parts for the plumbing and rebuilt the pipes under my sink. Once he was able to check that, he identified the hole in the hose for the faucet. He did not have the part but graciously called to a nearby plumbing store where he was able to secure the correct part. He quickly installed the hose, verified all was working and got me back to my day. Very nice guy and very knowledgeable and easy to work with.

They diagnosed the cause of a 5 y.o. split mini's demise and gave us a very reasonable quote (when compared with another big name vendor) for a Fujitsu split mini. They installed it, being careful not to bring mud etc into the house. They were very professional, punctual etc. We are using them to replace our 15 y.o. air conditioning system.

They were very professional, polite, and did a great job. Our ac was running but not really cooling the house down. Apparently, When we had the hardwood floors redone before we moved in, the contractor had the ac on which meant a ton of dust from the process clogged up the entire system. Papalia came in, did an assessment of the whole system, and had it up and running in 1 1/2 days of work. For the number of hours they spent here, we felt the price was reasonable.

Scott gave us a courtesy call with an accurate arrival time, and was very professional and helpful. He took the time to explain the radiators to me, showed me what I needed to know to adjust things, and was genuinely polite and helpful. He knows his stuff, handled all my questions with ease, and we would definitely call on him again.

Brad arrived on time and found the source of the leak right away, fixed it with no problem. Papalia's employees are always very courteous and respectful of my home (putting on shoe coverings which is really appreciated and most plumbers don't do). I am very happy with the work that was done and will be using them again.

They charged me $400 for 1 hour of work. They are EXTREMELY overpriced.

Removed and replaced external condenser outside garage. Ran new ducts through three car garage to existing furnace. Replaced coil in furnace in basement utility room. Showed up punctuality and completed work efficiently. Least expensive of the five quotes and able to work well with our existing furnace. Excellent job and AC is working well.

Perfect. The guy who gave the estimate (Dave Adams) was knowledgeable and sensible. The price was excellent. The installation went smoothly. I love these guys! will absolutely use them again.

We had a leaking A/C unit and didn't like the old HVAC company we had used, so tried Papalia. Very quick response time, courteous service. Thought we had fixed the problem, but a few days later the leak started again. They came right out, re-diagnosed the problem and fixed it, no charge. Keith, the service technician was GREAT.

work was great. one thing i didn't appreciate was that I bought the Angie List coupon for 1 drain cleaned and the company said that they would charge an additional fee for deploying the team. so I paid more than I bought the coupon for. i think that is misleading.

Scheduling was very professional. The technician arrived well within the time window, and completed the work professionally in a couple of hours. All in all, seem like a highly professional outfit. I'm delighted to have found them and hope to use their plumbing and heating services for a long time to come...

The work was fine but the pricing was outrageous at almost $400/hour. Papalia doesn't charge hourly rates any longer, every job is priced according to their new pricing book. I should have checked Yelp before I booked them - there are scores of outraged customers who were similarly taken. Ultimately, with push-back, they did reduce the bill to just under $700 - which is still twice what the job should have cost. I will never use Papalia Plumbing again and can no longer recommend them. Too bad - because their technicians do good work.

Last Thursday I discovered a significant leak in the basement ceiling. I turned off the water to the house, checked Angie's List to find someone to fix it, called Papalia. They could come right away (with an emergency surcharge) or make an appointment for Monday morning. I figured I could turn the house water on and off as needed for quick shower/washing dishes etc so decided to wait until Monday. When I turned the water back on Friday, no leak! But I decided to still have the plumber come look at it. I left the water on. Saturday night, 3:30 am, I was awoken by a muffled explosion and the sound of water gushing. I ran down to the basement and a flood of water was coming out of the same place. I turned off the water to the house and used the wet-vac to clean up the small flood. Very glad I still had the plumber coming on Monday morning! As promised, Papalia plumber showed up Monday morning, used flashlight and logic to determine where the leak was coming from. Turns out it was from an unused pipe that used to go to a second half bathroom (that has been turned into a closet 20 years ago). That pipe had not been properly sealed and finally broke. He had to cut through the wallboard at the back of the closet to access the pipe and fix it. It took about two hours total, and everything is fine now.

They were on time and very professional and polite. They looked at my water heater and told me my pilot might be getting old as I would expect since the tank is passed the life expectancy. For now I did not do anything but if I need more work done I plan to use them. Very happy with service.

They are top notch and fantastic. I have used them in my houses. They are absolutely fantastic. They were not the cheapest but they are the ones I am comfortable with. They did a phenomenal job. The value for price and quality for work is what I like and I can standby for it. They were out in 20 minutes after my phone call when I had a leak in my thermostat before. These guys are so good because they understood the emergency of the situation.

It's excellent. They sized up the situation pretty fast. It was fast and we had him here several times and they're very professional.

Everything went fine. The plumber was probably here about an hour and 15 minutes. The cost was over 450 for the two items. Rather expensive but it was done.

The estimate seemed high so did not proceed.
