From first meeting to final completion the experience with Rich Scalzi has exceeded our highest expectations. His attention to detail and the care exhibited by his work team was uncompromising. The quality of the installation, the trim and finishing work evidences the fact that he is an artist in what he does. His recommendations and counsel were of great value in our decisions. As the job proceeded he took care of problem areas without additional charge (for example, repairing areas of wood rot in window sills, painting exterior pipe and cabling to match the siding color). Rainy weather added to the time of the job, but there was no compromise in doing the work as it should be done. On a personal level he was excellent to work with. While several competitive bids offered a somewhat lower price or proposed to do the work in a shorter time, we recognize that the quality of the result is greater than the price difference and frankly this is not the type of one-time project that you want done in a hurry. We are grateful that we made the decision that we did.

Very good experience. There was confusion between him and the manufacturer about the due date for the windows but when they arrived (later in the day than expected) the guys had all of the old windows out and the openings ready to accept the new ones.

Let me start by saying my wife and I bought an 1870's Victorian about 6 years ago. It was in terrible, terrible shape and was falling down - literally. Over the years, we have essentially gutted the place and have completed a lot of renovations. Needless to say, we have had our share of experiences with contractors; some good, some very bad. The moment we first spoke with Rich it was clear he was a true craftsman, obviously dedicated and took pride in his work. Normally we would expect to pay a significant premium for this level of quality and service. Rich's bid wasn't the lowest, but it was clearly the best value - hands down. After the first meeting, I decided Rich was the obvious choice. Unfortunately, my wife wasn't available for the first meeting. With no complaints, Rich came back a week later and spent another hour talking with both of us about the job. The decision was easy. His comments and insights went above and beyond what was expected and were invaluable (and as far as I can tell essentially free expert advice). Hiring Rich was the best (and easiest) decision we have made in renovating our house. Due to other commitments, Rich started about 3 months after we signed the contract. This start date was clearly stated in the contract and put us square in the middle of winter. Despite the cold and snow, the work was more or less finished in a month (which is what Rich predicted). As I described, our house is old, wasn't well maintained (3 layers of old siding!) and the round turret adds additional challenges. All of the work was meticulous and met all of our expectations. I'm fairly handy myself, but the work was clearly done by a true craftsman. The techniques used to install the aluminum trim around windows and doors eliminated the need for the vinyl J channel. This J channel, in my opinion, is what often makes vinyl siding look less appealing. The transition from siding to aluminum trim is seamless and looks great. This includes the work on the round turret where the siding was custom formed. The work site was always kept clean and free of nails and debris. Another part of the service appears to be Rich fixing any issues which might arise with the work. Given the level of quality, I have a difficult time seeing what could happen, but it's nice to know Rich is just a phone call away. And by the way, Rich answers the phone or calls you right back every time. Bottom line ... this was by far the best experience we ever had working on our house ... if you're looking for advice, regardless of how Rich's price compares with others ... it will be far and away the best value.

We are extremely pleased with Rick Scalzi's work. He is a top-notch craftsman who takes pride in his work. You can trust him to do what he says he will do. He is very responsive to his customers. By the end of the six-week job he was a good friend; not just a contractor. We needed the job done because the house next to ours burned down and the heat melted our existing siding. The insurance company paid for the job, but asked us to get three estimates. Scalzi's was not the cheapest, but he was able to show us items the insurance adjustor had missed, and so the insurance payout was raised. Of the three contractors we received estimates from, Scalzi was clearly the best quality. We visited several homes that he and the others had done and his stood out.

Contractor was prompt and flexible when setting up the estimate. Once the fee was determined he was able to fit the job in the next week. The work was done on time and on estimate. I would definitely use this contractor again.

Great- other companies were unwilling to do a small job but Rich did so willingly. He also provided a couple of suggestions for other issues to be taken care of in the future.

He came to the house to provide us with a bid. When I explained we were looking to improve attic ventilation to prevent ice dams this winter, he explained that our roof was the more serious problem. After pointing out the flaws in the roof, he said he would give my number to a roofer who would contact me. No one contacted me. I did get soffits installed by another contractor who confirmed it would improve ventilation.

It went very well. I sent him an e-mail and he was here quickly with an estimate. He was easy to talk to and open to suggestions. The clean-up was very good.

CALLED BACK RIGHT AWAY, CAME OUT FOR AN ESTIMATE. ESTIMATE WAS DETAILED, BUT I FOUND A MORE REASONABLE OFFER. WILL USE HIM NEXT TIME FOR MY WINDOWS REPLACEMENT. ESTIMATED COST WAS $6,500.

He was very experienced and knew how to deal with difficult parts of the job. I liked him because he was good at explaining what was going on and at handling situations. I was very satisfied with his work.

Rich was very prompt in returning my call. We set up an appointment where he walked us through everything and showed us photos/samples of other work he had done. He was very thorough. He gave us a well-explained/detailed estimate and a start date. He started the job when he said he would and finished timely as well. They were great people to work with. They were friendly and professional (even the neighbors commented on this). The job came out great, and they cleaned everything up when they were done. They didn't take any money until they started the job, then a third on day 1, a third halfway through, and the balance when the job was done. The actual cost came in at the estimate. Lastly, we have a lot of plantings close to the house, and they didn't damage any of them.

Richie is honest, knowledgeable, fairly priced, and takes pride in the outstanding quality of his craftsmanship. He and his crew, who are DIRECT employees of the company, and are NOT subcontracted, performed OUTSTANDING work, were diligent, courteous, and a complete pleasure to deal with. The job completed is AWESOME, and my husband and I are THRILLED with the results! Richie Scalzi sets the standard for excellence that all professionals should model themselves after! We had read a previous report about Rich Scalzi and his craftsmanship and agree. Rich takes pride in his work and was on site every day molding the aluminum sheeting around our 22 windows and putting up the siding. He has a small crew and takes his time and does a quality job. He was careful cleaning up after he was done. We would strongly recommend him.

RICH SCALZI IS A REAL CRAFTSMAN. HE IS PARTICULARLY GIFTED AT MOLDING ALUMINUM AROUND SCULPTED WOOD ORNAMENTAL DETAILS SO YOU DON'T LOSE THAT UNIQUENESS UNDER THE SIDING. HIS JOB SAMPLE BOOKS ARE 5 INCHES THICK WITH REPEATED EXAMPLES OF THIS KIND OF WORK. HE'S NOT THE LOWEST BIDDER, NOR IS HE SPEEDY (MY LITTLE 1800 SQ FT HOUSE TOOK 3 WEEKS TO DO ALL WINDOWS AND SIDING.) BUT HE USES THE BEST MATERIALS. HE APPROACHES HIS JOB WITH A GREAT DEAL OF RESPECT FOR THE ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE PROPERTY. IF YOU WANT SIDING THAT LOOKS LIKE A GREAT PAINT JOB, THIS IS THE GUY TO HIRE.
