RARE Moving & Storage

Description of Work: They moved our new nanny from one apartment to another across town, with a stop at my house to pick up a beverage fridge and hallway bench to deliver to another apartment in her building that belongs to my inlaws. I used an Angie's List deal to get the two movers for 4 hours for $350, and paid an extra $40 for tape/packing materials. It was well worth it as they were careful with the move and did a great job despite having to move through snow. Would use them again!

My rating for punctuality would have been A, except that they were delayed by running out of gas. |Otherwise, they were terrific.

Description of Work: Not good. Though I gave them all the info when ordered they emailed me requesting tons of additional info. They also notified of additional charges that were not clearly listed on the offer. UPDATE The company response was not truthful. They never called me. I needed a simple moving from my storage unit to home, all information was given when Big Deal order was placed. This is clear bate and switch......

Description of Work: The moving company took very good care of my large possessions (large dresser, desk, etc.) by packing all of them in packing material. Because of this, it took a bit longer than expected to move, so I had to pay a difference between the coupon and the amount of time they spent. | |If you have nice things that you don't want scratched, be prepared to pay a bit extra and spend some more time moving. If you're not as concerned about scratches, you might want to mention it to them so they don't waste time packing them. Overall, I would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: They did not make me aware that they would be starting the charge time when they left their facility, had I known this i would have chosen a company much closer to my home. THey were coming from over an hour away.

Description of Work: They moved furniture and other things from my parents to our house and my mother-in-law's house. They also picked up some additional items from our house and brought them to my MIL's. They were punctual, worked quickly and completed everything. We were very happy with the service

Description of Work: $500 for a 3-Man Moving Crew for 4 Hours, Including a Truck

Description of Work: We prepayed the order (Number 1815404) for 2 men crew. But the company said that the 2 men is not enough for the huge move. So we cancelled the order and paid for a new order (order number 1823490) on March 9 for 4 men crew from angies customer service call. The new order (1823490) was completed successfully to my satisfaction and the extra payment was paid. But I still don't see the refund of $350 pre-paid order (1815404) that I never used.

Description of Work: We had Rare Moving move us from Boston to Rochester, NY. They had the most competitive quote of 4 movers we talked to. We did all the packing, they did all the moving. We can't say enough good things about our experience with Rare. Everything we wanted in our interactions were met or exceeded by them. They were prompt, courteous, very friendly, and very professional. Their handling skills with our possessions was top-notch, e.g. they padded all of the items that needed it, they communicated well with each other, and they were careful at all times. Overall, working with Rare was a highly satisfying experience and have my highest recommendation!

Description of Work: Moved us from Mass to NC the crew were awesome (all) I cannot tell you how surprised we were that there was no breakage and little to no dings on furniture. They all worked as though there lives depended on it. We purchased a home in NC and would use them again in a heart beat if available in NC.

Description of Work: The price listed included the travel time, time to move, supplies, fuel, and disposal of old dryer. The service was excellent right from the start. The owner was friendly and courteous over the phone. I was able to schedule my move quickly. I also received a email confirmation for the date and time. The movers, Larry and J, could not have been more friendly and professional. They moved furniture from 2 different places (house and storage unit). They wrapped all of my furniture with quality blankets. They were very cautious not to hit the walls or other furniture. Overall the service was excellent.

Description of Work: Used the Angie's List coupon and ended up needing to pay a bit more because we went over in terms of hours. The guys did a great job, arrived a little later than expected and took a little longer than expected to get from one point to the other, but overall happy with the experience.

Description of Work: Overall, they were good (plus). I have pretty high standards. I definitely DO NOT believe in the straight A grade awards that seems to be the default excess in customer review sites these days. I would give them a B to B+. This means GOOD to GOOD plus, NOT "bad" because I'm not giving them a big fat A. Incidentally, I am using them to move from the storage unit to my next house, so that should tell you something. One thing was broken that I'm aware of, a picture frame, and this happened at the end of a long 9 hour day, so, that's understandable I guess. I could tell the guys were tired and wanting to get back to their homes. In spite of this, I had them reassemble a 6 foot baby grand in a storage unit rather than keeping it stored on it's side and they did it in spite of the lateness of the hour, so I applaud them for that. My chief complaint is that there didn't seem to be a general foreman who was clearly leading the 5 man crew. In general it was a bit too casual and novice, but not unprofessional, to inspire me with total faith. Some of the guys, did not understand that certain dollys operated better (Steered better) through narrow door ways when they were pulled, not pushed. A couple times I watched as my stuff, some pretty valuable, side swiped narrower door frame because a guy didn't understand that the 4 wheeled dolly platform didn't steer well when pushed because only the "rear wheels" (by the handle) spin freely 360 degrees and the others were fixed to roll only in one direction. It's the opposite setup as a shopping cart. Load a shopping cart up and try to push it from the front down narrow isles, you'll understand what I mean. It's basic things like that that did not demonstrate to some of the crew (not all) had even mastered the most important tools of the trade. On the plus side, the price was negotiable and I always applaud that. Bottom line is that they were all nice, friendly, and polite and they got it done without any major breakage. I've used other movers who had crews that were as efficient as professional sports teams or military platoons, but I had to pay for that efficiency, and they broke stuff too. I'm using RARE again, that should say something.

Description of Work: This company was referred to me by my cousin and I was so excited when there was a $100 coupon through Angie's list! They not only were able to start early but the company sent 3 guys instead of 2 to get it all done faster. It ended up taking to expected amount of time because my couch wouldn't fot up the stairs but they hoisted it up over the balcony instead! If the head guy, Stevenson hadn't insisted then it never would have happened. I was so impressed and grateful! They were also very responsive beforehand about quoting and after when I had a couple questions.
