The close of our new rehabbed South End condo was delayed and the movers we lined up fell through. After seeing feedback about Kamaul of Rare Movers on Angie?s List, I decided to contact him. Before I go any further, I will preface this story with the fact that we are extremely picky and were very worried that our new pristine condo and floors might get damaged?.and we had several plants that needed gentle hands to move them. From the second we met Kamaul, we felt confident he would not only protect our belongings, but also our new place. He's smart, warm and friendly. His crew was great. They packed us on a Monday and moved us on a Tuesday. While they were packing, one of his guys hand cut pieces of masonite to cover the top of each stair in the new unit. They taped down the masonite with painters tape and they covered the banisters and stair railings with moving pads. Though we don't have tons of furniture, we do have heavy, bulky furniture and they did a beautiful job navigating the narrow stairways at both units. They also hauled away a beasty 4-piece massive entertainment center without damaging the old building. Rare Movers are diligent, thoughtful movers ? I was thrilled with their professionalism. They are the measure twice, cut once type of movers and this works well if you want moving perfection. I?ve never met a mover willing to hand cut masonite for a stairway with curved stairs, but it worked beautifully and there wasn?t even a scratch ?unbelievable! We?ve kept the protector they made and will use them the W/D is delivered. In close, if you want reliable, caring, efficient, hardworking, awesomely careful movers, these are your guys. They rocked! They made our move absolutely painless and were worth every penny.

Kamaul Reid, the principal owner, was professional from start to finish. Moving, especially out of state, is inherently a stressful experience. Somehow Kamaul was able to take an incredible amount of stress out of the process. This is because of his personality, his confidence, his sense of humor, and ? on the day of the move ? his leadership and sheer physical strength. One thing we noticed from the beginning is that Kamaul is not obsessed with paperwork. He runs a small business, which incidentally is likely going to grow, and our agreement with him wasn?t laden with all kinds of marginally useful details about every aspect or contingency related to the move. It was based more on a trust factor with the person. That may not be your preference. But for me and my wife, after having interviewed at least six movers, we didn?t put much stock in those movers who filled out a whole bunch of paperwork in preparing an estimate. We felt that some of this was literally designed to make you feel better, when in reality, on the day of the move, it is really a bunch of big guys just picking up your boxes and your furniture and putting them in a truck ? safely and efficiently. Our move was from Boston to the DC area (Falls Church, Virginia). Some of our stuff was moved to Pennsylvania along the way. We had a 3,000 square foot house in Dorchester. We reduced our furniture quite a bit, but ended up with over 200 items (furniture pieces + boxes). We were basically trying to decide between another reputable moving company and RARE (Kamaul Reid). We had had a good experience with this other company previously, so we were inclined to go with them. But we went with Kamaul in the end because he was going to pay personal attention to our move (he said he was literally going to drive the truck himself), and he was competitive relative to the other company's price. We definitely made a good choice. Not that the other company would have done a bad job, but there is something comforting about knowing that the same person would be doing the walk-through, prep, supervise the loading, drive the truck, supervise the unloading, and that he was trustworthy and confident. He did an excellent job, and he has good people (notably a guy named Henry, who Kamaul claims is one of the best ?packers? in Massachusetts) working for him. We had a little hiccup in the end, whereby a piece of furniture that was supposed to be dropped off in Pennsylvania before unloading the rest in Virginia, ended up in Virginia. For the mistake, he made a simple adjustment on price, made us happy, allowing us to say all was well that ended well. We highly recommend him!!

They moved me on a Sunday at no additional charge. Said they would arrive between 7:30 - 8:00. I assumed they would get lost and be late since that often happens to people coming to my house for the first time. They rang the bell at 7:34 a.m.! Very pleasant team. After reviewing the job, they got right to work and loaded everything in just over an hour (including disassembly of futon). I barely beat them over to Cambridge, where they unloaded everything and reassembled the futon. The paperwork the driver had did not note my $100 deposit or the $100 discount from Angie's list but he made a 30 second call to confirm it and immediately revised the total. It was a great experience and I will definitely call Rare Moving again.

They were great! Very responsive and easy to get in touch with. Their estimate was accurate and they were very responsible and honest. The crew was friendly and personable and moved everything very carefully and arranged it all neatly when they unloaded it. I would definitely recommend them-- it was the easiest move I've experienced!

On time, easy to deal with, very very efficient.

I can't say enough about Rare Movers! Kamaul (the owner) did an on-site estimate and then sat down with me to think about the logistics of the move. We came up with a plan, and he gave me a flat-rate quote that included replacement-value insurance on everything I owned. As details changed and new needs arose, his answer was always, "Don't worry about it!" And he was right. Moving day came and his pleasant crew worked tirelessly to get everything loaded. I had to tell them to take a break! They were incredible. Everyone who saw them in action asked them for a business card. Use these movers!

Great. Timely response. Arrived on time. Took care of our things. An excellent experience.

Called and had a very pleasant phone experience. Was given a excellent price. Someone called me the night before to confirm time. Driver/movers arrived on time and did a great job. Made sure i was happy with furniture placemen, and asked if i want to make any changes.

They were excellent. They were a good group of guys. Everything I asked for was done and then some.

They were polite, careful and fast. Upon arriving at the apt in Boston, the old tenants left a lot of stuff. The guys took a lot of extra broken stuff and garbage down to the dumpsters, and then even drove a couch to Goodwill.

I have hired RARE Moving & Trucking on two occasions and would use them again and recommend them very highly. In both moves the crew showed up on time, provided excellent service, cared for our belongings as if they were their own and made what is normally a stressful experience pain free. They did what they said they were going to at the price they estimated and they did it very well. I'd use them again and have recommended them to others.

The movers quoted a very competitive amount for a small move of 3 pieces of furniture. They arrived promptly at the time promised, were careful in preparing the furniture to move and quickly packed them into the truck. We met them at the second address ... they were barely 15 minutes behind us. They were knowledgeable about moving heavy furniture up steep, windy stairs and placed the furniture as requested in the room. I would definitely use this mover again and refer them to friends.

These guys were supermen. Last year I rearranged the furniture in the living room and bedroom and was worn out. They lifted armfuls of boxes and didn't miss a beat. And not a whisper about my halfassed packing (and the things that never even got packed). They might call themselves rare moving; but I call them very very well done!

I cannot say enough good things about RARE movers. On the recommendation of a friend, my husband and I hired them when we were moving to a new apartment in Boston. Our former apartment was on the fifth floor of a walk-up, and we were amazed by the strength, speed and care with which Kamaul and his team were able to shepherd our possessions down all those stairs! I was pregnant during this move, and therefore very happy to enlist RARE?s help packing up our belongings: they took extraordinary care with everything they handled, from china and crystal to fragile lamps and valuable furniture. Every item was wrapped up thoroughly, every box organized and labeled clearly, making the unpacking process MUCH more pleasant on the other end. From the moment they started their work, I could tell that we were in excellent hands and trusted them completely. When using other companies for previous moves, I have always felt slightly uneasy, unsure whether my belongings were safe and worried that I might somehow be getting overcharged. I never had these concerns when using RARE. Kamaul is, simply, a really great guy?completely solid, down-to-earth, warm, and trustworthy--and it?s evident he has his customers? best interests at heart. After meeting him, we decided without hesitation to use his storage services for some of our furniture as well. A few months later, RARE delivered it to us from storage in perfect shape. I can honestly say that the RARE team actually makes moving a pleasant experience. They approach their work not only with the utmost professionalism, but also with intelligence and good humor. I must also mention that Kamaul and his crew happen to be dashingly handsome! Certainly not a priority in a moving team, but nice nonetheless? My husband and I will definitely be using RARE for all our future moves and storage needs. It is truly an exceptional company.

I'm six months pregnant and was no help to my husband. We decided to go with a moving company. They offered us the best price and they were very informative. Kamaul, Henry, and Gabe showed up promptly and introduced themselves to us. We informed them that we accummulated lot of stuff over the years and now we also had to add baby stuff. They jumped right in and assumed me they will take care of everything. My husband was extremly happy because the pressure was taken off him. Despite my hormones and my A-type personality, they remained professional; responsive to my needs; and finished the job in a timely manner. They provided excellent quality of work and all I can say is "Hats-off to them and a job well done".

They not only turned the two day job into a one day job which saved me money by beating the estimate by 6 hours. I tip my hat to Kamaul for getting his guys to agree to work the entire 13 hours during the snow storm. But my husband had been hospitalized since the new year and my mind was not in the frame of mind to do the move but Kamaul, Henry, Gabe & Derek gave me the comfort to go to the hospital, spend time with my husband then they called me when the house was empty. Then when they reached the new house they shoveled the entire driveway, dropping salt, placing to floor protection on the hardwood floor and placing carpet protection on the light colored bedroom carpets. By the time I bought my husband home that night from the hospital, they made the Master bed so all I had to do was let him rest. That crew of workers was exactly who the claim they are RARE - "Efficient Workers Who Care." Kamaul lived up to the individual I had read about in his book "Look What I Found Underneath the Bed." I refer all my friends and family to this company.

I am writing this review because six months after my move I am completely settled in my new home. The methodical manner in which RARE moving transported my furniture and hundreds of boxes was organized and neatly stored in my basement while contractors worked up stairs in my home. They then returned when those repairs were completed and placed my furniture on various floors in the home. The owner remembered my furniture and boxes as if they were his own and this helped me significantly to live stress free until I was able to unpack all the materials. In addition. the owner of RARE moving is a resources for all kind of other professionals one might need when moving. I was moving from an one floor two family house and my departure was a sensitive matter. RARE was quiet and efficient and did little to draw attention to my move. I appreciated that immensely.

Moving is never fun, and can be very stressful for many of us, yet they are able to take away that burden and even make you laugh at the whole situation. The most recent move was helping my aging parents move from NJ to MA. They gave me a sense of security, respected our furniture and valuables with the utmost care, again making the transition much less stressful. They went above and beyond their responsibilities to help my parents have a smooth transition across states. Very punctual, honest, and the pricing is fair for the amount of travelling they needed to do. I have also hired them to simply move pieces of furniture, when others couldn't, rather weren't competent to do the job. RARE Moving came through! I was pleasently surprised and now trust them with any sort of furniture transport or any type of moving they are the ones to contact. You will not be disappointed.

We had to close our Cambridge office and move items to our Wakefield office. Certificates of Insurance were provided in a timely manner as requested for both office locations. The movers showed up on time (maybe even 5-10 minutes early). We did another walk through to confirm what was being moved. They disassembled our conference room table and even helped move a couple of large monitors off of the cabinets that needed to be moved (even though that wasn't part of the job). The movers were courteous and knowledgeable. Everything was padded and made it to the new location in the same condition as it was prior to the move. I would recommend without hesitation RARE Moving & Trucking to any friend or associate in need of moving services.

I own a senior move management business (I organize and facilitate moves mostly for seniors) and work with movers all the time. Over the past year I have subcontracted or referred Rare Moving to my clients over a dozen times. They are my preferred vendor for movers and I'll often use their packing services for my larger moves as well. They are always on time, very professional, and always have a smile on their face...even when they are moving the same heavy sleep sofa for the third time. Although the company is fairly new, the three of them each have over 12 years experience and it shows in the service. And their rates beat most of the competition.

I wasn't exactly as prepared as I could be. I was still packing some things during the move, but the movers came in and worked quickly and efficiently, getting me out of mu condo and into my new home without a hitch. My biggest concern was my TV. They treated it like it was their own, handling it with extreme care.

I needed to move out of my apartment and they where referred to me by a co-worker so i gave them a call, after doing some research i found that they had the best price and decided to scheduale the move...BOY WAS I RIGHT TO CHOOSE THIS COMPANY! They were not only on time, but actually 15mins early! (used many movers in the past, and this is very rare) Got started right away by packing and wrapping all breakable items and furniture, then loaded truck and were on the way to my new address without taking any breaks. got there and unloaded in record time! needless to say i was very please and would definetly recomend them to anyone who is looking for a professional mover without having to pay the prices of those big name moving Co.'s in the area.
