They were great, they did a very good job throughout. There was a little bumping with my piano down the stairs but it arrived safely. They punctual.

The truck broke down during the move so it took extra hours because of that they weren't that quick.

No problems, no damage, delivered on time. Punctual. Generally satisfied.

The team from Rare was incredible. Our team of Henry, Gordon, Richard, and Will were incredibly efficient, professional, and just nice guys. Even before they arrived, the experience was flawless -- a team of two arrived the day I called to do an estimate on my apartment, and I had an emailed estimate within a day. When the Rare team arrived right on the dot with their 26-ft truck for our move, they were completely unfazed by the fact that someone had illegally parked in the space that the city had reserved for them and calmly proceeded to park an extra 70 feet up the street and move our boxes the extra distance to the truck while we waited for the space to be cleared. They worked incredibly rapidly, double stacking boxes, meticulously wrapping our furniture, and taking care of everything. When they arrived at the new house, things were still as smooth as could be. They easily maneuvered some very difficult pieces up our narrow staircase without so much as a complaint. These guys were incredibly strong -- if they ever had trouble moving something in a tight space, they had a system and series of signals to use with each other to lift the furniture straight up and out of the way, whereas less strong and less professional movers would have smacked into a wall. They literally ran stacks of 60-lb boxes of academic books up three flights of stairs to my office. It was remarkable. All in all, the experience was fantastic. Even my new neighbors were fascinated by watching how quickly and quietly they moved -- really, it was practically balletic. In the end, they took exactly as long as they said they would, and were remarkably close to the estimated price. We did go over a bit, but I felt the pricing was perfectly fair as they ended up packing a few difficult items for me, such as glass lamp shades. I would call them again in a heartbeat -- the highest recommendation!

As part of our move, we talked to several movers suggested off Angie's List. I was thoroughly unimpressed w/ Raremovers due to lack of answering my questions to them through email. They responded promptly to the first contact by telling me a rough estimate and stating they were booking my move date. In my second email the only thing they responded to was my stating that we'd prefer a different move date, completely ignoring my other questions. We went with another mover.

The team from Rare Moving was AMAZING! My daughter asked for an estimate, guessing that it would take the team 5 hours, and then paid the $100.00 deposit to move both her and her new roommate into their first post-graduation apartment. The girls' estimate was low but the movers took the extra time in stride. They were careful, polite, and funny! We also applied the $100.00 Angie's List coupon to our bill. I would recommend them for any move!

Jose and Royce showed up about 15 minutes late but called to inform me. They got right to work and make quick work of it. After wrapping everything and loading up the truck they followed me to my new home. My new place is 3 floors up without an elevator. Mind you they were moving the heavy items. There was never a complaint nor any fowl language (because I sure did as I had moved the smaller stuff myself.) They placed the items where I wanted them and they were undamaged. Jose and Royce then followed us around the corner and delivered the rest to my friend who has a narrow staircase. I had an over-sized couch and they tried to get it up the stairs but were unable to do so. I asked what our options were and they gave me a few choices and in the end they took the couch back to the warehouse to give to someone who needed it. Great guys and VERY impressed.

Right out of the gate, the guys called me to inquire whether they could start early! They were professional, respectful of all materials being moved, and were very efficient. Rare Moving was required to hold our belongings overnight and their rates were very competitive. Again, they were punctual in arriving at our new location the next day, as promised, and were proactive in placing all furniture and boxes where we desired. I trust all Rare Moving crews perform at this level, but our crew of Sidney and Richard deserve special recognition for exemplary service. If you need to move in the Boston area, do not hesitate to call Rare Moving.

The employees arrived 15 minutes early, were communicative, helpful and easy to work with. They took care with all of the property and obviously had experience with carrying, stacking, and working with customers. The move was done in the estimated time and budget. I felt as though I had a reasonable price for an excellent service. I've already recommended them to others.

I contacted RARE Moving through their web site and we communicated by email. I described the job and they gave me an estimate. They were able to do the job the following day. They called to negotiate a time, and they arrived within the one hour window that we had agreed on. The two movers were professional and moved the furniture (a heavy hutch in two pieces) without incident.

This was an amazing experience from start to finish. The owner, Reid Kamaul, responded to our phone call promptly and scheduled the local pickup within a couple of days-in fact on a holiday weekend! He and two workers arrived on time and the choreography began. They were polished, professional, and friendly. They worked quickly and steadily while cheerfully answering all the questions we peppered them with. They were knowledgible about the maker of our piano and shared information about the company and it's history. As they dismantled the piano, each part was carefully wrapped for storage and transport. It was all over in under an hour and we are still telling people about the experience. The piano was held in storage in Boston until they had a shipment south and it was only a couple of weeks before we got the call that it was on it's way. The Mississippi owner had the exact experience in reverse as they unpacked and assembled the piano. She was playing it before they were out of the drive! It was truly worth every penny and we can't say enough about this terrific company. We would trust them with packing and transporting anything.

The initial estimate was exact within 1/2 hour -- the only realistic, "all in" cost estimate I received. They accepted my charge card for the entire cost --no cash involved, and no surprises. The job was slightly less than the estimated cost in spite of construction vehicles blocking access to my condo, and 3 stories down and 3 stories up stairs to unload. The morning of the move, I was close to panic, because my packing was not finished. The crew arrived and the crew leader calmed me down, and told me to relax in such a way that I actually did. They took it from there. It was a pleasure to work with them. I was also impressed by the mutual consideration they showed for each other in dividing up the heavy work. It was a hot and humid summer day and we had packed the air conditioner, but their good nature was unfailing.

Kamal and his crew did a great job for us. Worked 17 hours to get the job done. Also did a superb job moving our piano. The crew worked hard, and was professional. I would highly recommend Rare for your move.

Excellent. They called periodically during the day to let us know exactly when they would be coming. They showed up on time, and even helped us go to the hardware store to rent a saw to cut a bent metal rod in the moving truck. Then they unpacked everything from the truck, arranged it in our apartment.

Kamaul was very responsive and it's easy to see why they are so highly rated. We agreed to move my moving date from a Saturday to a Sunday but he made it clear that he'd send his "best" which he absolutely did. Henry and Terence packed a 16' truck like only pros can do and exceeded our expectations by having wrapping everything and doing it all in record time. They were extremely polite and professional. I would highly recommend RARE and even though I'm hoping to not move for another 20 years, I would call RARE in a heartbeat if I ever had to move again. They are awesome!

Rare was a pleasure to work with. They were friendly, professional, reasonably priced, and honest. I emailed Rare and many other highly-rated companies to get an estimate, and had three companies come by. In the end, Rare's estimate was the lowest. The price I paid included obtaining Boston moving permits, professional packing, moving, and re-assembly of all my furniture. Kamaul came by, and gave me an estimate of $5900. The final price was $300 more at $6200, not really surprising considering how much stuff I had packed in my closets and bookshelves. FYI, this is $1000 lower than the next lowest estimate of the companies that gave me an in home estimate. On moving day, Kamaul sent over a three-man crew (headed by Royce, I think?), who were all friendly, professional, and fast. They didn't waste any time at all, and worked hard getting everything done. it was a LOT of stuff, but they did a great job. i was especially impressed by how well they packed everything - anything breakable or delicate, and all furniture, was wrapped in packing pads and taped down. They cleaned all the packing material up after themselves. They packed up my stuff on July 20. 5 days later, on July 25, they moved my stuff into my new place. Fast! Kamaul emailed me a couple nights before they moved my stuff in, informing me of where the truck was, and what day they were planning on moving me. Sidney was the guy who drove my stuff across the country, and who led a team in Seattle to do the unpacking - and again, everything went well. They moved everything in super quickly, removed all the packing pads, and again cleaned up after themselves. I have to also add here that Sidney did an amazing job reassembling everything - I was really happy with the time he spent putting everything back together, and he did a great job. Only minor issue I had was in trying to schedule the exact day of the move, i emailed repeatedly asking if maybe we should move it up a day or two, but got no response - but seeing one of the more recent reviews it seems there was a death in the family, so I think I see what happened. Other than that, everything went incredibly well, and I felt I was treated fairly and honestly the entire way. Only things I regret - 1. I forgot to redeem the $100 off coupon! 2. I initially forgot to tip the guys who packed my stuff up! Added it later to the credit card, so I hope they get it. I recommend Rare completely and without reservation. They're honest, do great work, and they're fast! They deserve to be huge - their prices are the best in the Boston area, and their service was second to none!

Best packers and movers I ever had (over 30 yearws in the military - a lot of moves).If you have fine china, glass, etc. this is the mover you want. Best packers you will find.Courteous and extremely hard working Jose, Andre and later Deon were true pros.They were very patient and worked very well with me.They minimized the difficulties normally associated with moving.Glad I found them - used Angie's list.

Kumal and his crew of three others showed up on time, were very cordial, professional, efficient, and careful throughout the move. They carefully disassembled and wrapped all the furniture that needed it. It was a great experience! The next day, a different, only 3 person crew showed up on time, but visibly tired from a long day of moving. One of the crew actually came up to me about five minutes into the move and apologized for their "attitude", which I didn't really notice, but he was probably referring to their lack of energy, which was understandable on such a long, hot day. Although unnecessary, the gesture was appreciated! They were able to build up some momentum and were finished within 3 hours. 2 of the movers were great, but one was out of shape and a bit careless with our stuff. In storing our things overnight, they forgot to load a dining table, but were able to deliver and assemble it later at a time convenient with both of our schedules. All in all, I'd highly recommend Rare Movers. They are a good company that was accommodating to our very specific schedule. I thought it was a great value too. They definitely came in less than some other larger companies and did good work.

Rare handled the move perfectly from start to finish. Prior to the move, a representative came to one of our apartments and gave a fixed price estimate. The movers showed up around 7:30 on the day of the move, and proceeded to move things out of the house at a great rate, taking care to wrap furniture with pads. The team was upbeat and conscientious throughout the move, and were easy to work with. They arranged for a subcontractor to arrive with a crane to move the piano, and this process went absolutely smoothly. Partway through the day it became clear that the move would require two trips. Despite the additional time involved, Rare agreed to honor the original estimate, even though they didn't fully finish until 9-10 PM. (We gave a generous tip to everyone involved!) Overall, we had a fantastic experience with Rare, and would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a small, well-run, top quality moving service.

I went with Rare in large part because of the many wonderful reviews of the company on Angie's List and because of the way that it seems the company has responded to and made right the few bad experiences that members have reported. All in all, I could not have been happier with the move. The crew (Gabe, Larry, Royce, and Angelo) arrived 15 minutes early, had the truck fully packed in 2.5 hours, and showed remarkable care in wrapping and securing the furniture. An added stop went smoothly, and when we got to the final destination, the crew was equally speedy and careful as they unloaded. We'd marked most of our belongings as to which room they should go to, and the crew was conscientious about this and asked patiently for direction for any items that weren't labeled. They managed to move a couple of very large pieces up a very narrow staircase - I was pretty nervous about this, and while I can't say that it was easy, the guys made it look as easy as it could be, never grumbled about it, and got everything moved without a scratch. The actual move took about 5 hours, plus about 2.5 hours of drive time (Quincy to Marlboro to Groton, then back to the garage). I felt the crew worked quickly and efficiently throughout the job and that the time they took was reasonable for the size of the job. The crew was professional, courteous, and in good humor throughout the day, and I'd work with that group of guys again without hesitation. My only complaint would be that the company was not always as responsive as I would have liked. They were quick to provide an initial estimate, but thereafter it took more legwork on my part to get calls and emails returned. This was a minor point overall, but if there is any area for improvement, this would be it.

Rare is terrific! Their estimate was accurate and their movers are very hard workers (and incredible nice!). Nothing was broken or scratched. I've already recommended them to a co-worker.

I received a prompt response from Kamaul and a rough estimate of what the move would cost. The time and cost were underestimated, but I expected it due to a lack of detail in making the estimate. Their ending price was still very competitive.The crew, Bo, Steven and Royce were courteous and fun. It was a long, hot day, and all went off without a hitch. I was disappointed that we didn't receive a confirmation until about 12 hours before the truck was to arrive. I would have preferred that there was a 24 or 48 hour call to confirm (to cut down stress). I would use them again gladly.
