RARE Moving & Storage

I asked for an on-site estimate prior to the move. Kamaul had originally planned on meeting me at 6pm. Due to an emergency on his side he still made the effort to plow through heavy traffic to meet me at 8pm when I explained I could not be available on another day. Moving day. Two trucks came at 8 am and began packing and moving items into separate trucks for two destinations. The guys were professional, careful, reasonable, accomodating and a pleasure to work with. There was more packing to do than originally planned and they worked very h****** an extremely hot day to get the work completed. I couldn't be more pleased and would not hesitate to hire them again.

I couldn't be happier with the service provided. Andres and Will were professional, thorough and extremely personable. Even though they were being paid by the hour, they didn't dawdle, i.e. there was little down time. They didn't even waste time in transport. They left the CT location at the same time we did and they arrived at our home in MA within half an hour of our arrival, even though they stopped for a quick lunch (we did not). The move went without a hitch. These guys were quick and efficient, yet made sure that those items requiring it were wrapped well. Everything was handled with care resulting in the best of all outcomes - nothing broke! They weren't the cheapest bid we received nor were they were the most expensive). By the end of the move, however, I was convinced that my money was well spent. I would recommend them without reservation.

Best movers I've ever had. Wrap nearly everything that should be wrapped. Works efficiently. Introduces everyone, overly polite, does walk thrus. Solid pros.

My team was especially nice this time. ( I've used Rare in the past). Unfortunately both moves have in loved "incorrect " phone numbers when the team tried to call me after lunch. Also the gentleman who came for the estimate was way off and I ended up having to pay for another locker at the last minute, resulting in much greater expense for me on an ongoing basis. The guys should have been more upfront with me and I could have changed the locker to a bigger one before they unloaded the truck, I am afraid that some of my belongings will be ruined be sues of how tightly the locker was packed

Slightly underestimated time required for the job but performed well. I have not noticed any damages so far. Crew was hardworking and polite

- Setting up the details of the move were fine. I did it via email and reconfirmed via phone. - I received an email confirming that the movers will be at our house between 8-9. They arrived at about 930. No biggie - It was hot that day and it rained towards the end of the day. I was quoted for 4-7 hours for loading one truck from one location. It took 10 total. This includes the transporation time. to and from - I would like to note that you get charged from the moment the truck leaves the warehouse, which is standard, HOWEVER, the warehouse is in BRAINTREE Ma. NOT BOSTON as the address indicates. Boston is the business address. Had I known this, I would have selected a local mover because in the end, the price was the same. The movers ended up driving home through rush hour traffic and it took them about an hour and half to get back, which I was charged for. Understandable, but it was unclear - the movers were fine. They were courteous and did their job. When they dropped off our stuff, the boxes were unloaded into the desigated rooms. - I would like to note that our 50" flat screen TV now has a weird line going down the screen. I read online that the cause is most likely a small fuse that was busted in the tv, when the TV is jostled too much. Who knows! -To unload our truck to our new house it took 3 hours. Plus an hour to go back to the warehouse.

This was a great experience- they were very careful about all aspects of moving the piano- and were really nice and pleasant- offering to move the piano until the angle was right etc. WE used an Angie's List coupon and got $100 off the price that I listed- so that was great too. I will use them again for sure (they move really anything, though seem to have particular strength around hard-to-move pieces).

Team arrived on time and worked quickly. Some minor mistakes were made regarding moving instructions, but the team was polite and professional at all times. I would use them again.

They charged a lot more money to make up the difference of the coupon. Charged a lot more than the other mover that can in to give me a quote.

We purchased an Angie's List deal that definitely was the best value we've seen for local moving. We were given a 1 hour window for their arrival. We were glad they came on the later end of the window, as it was raining earlier in the morning. We left everything ready to be taped and put on the truck, which the movers said made it very easy for them. It took about 1.5 hours for them to get everything ready and on the truck. The three guys (Richie, Jeffrey and Alan) were really nice, friendly guys. They unpacked us carefully (nothing broken or even nicked) and were careful to put down blankets, as we had just had the carpets in our new house deep-cleaned. Everything was set up just how we wanted it. They only confusion was when signing the bill, they had slightly different charges for materials than what I had received in my original email confirmation. But it worked out about the same. Also, I gave the movers a check, but they did not record it correctly, so RARE Movers accidentally charged my credit card for the remainder of the balance - but upon calling the next day, the errant charges were easily taken off. Still waiting for the charge to completely drop off "pending status", but this should come off within the week. All in all, great job guys!

They arrived ahead of time and immediately went to work. We showed the what we wanted moved and they immediately started wrapping the furniture in quilts and moved it onto the truck. When that was done they moved the large pieces of furniture from the 2d floor to the first and set it up for display. At the other end they placed furniture where directed and set it up. They worked quickly and were very cordial.

The movers were careful in moving all the furniture, rugs, lamps, etc. They did the job in as quick a time frame as possible. They notified us by phone that they were running about one hour late. They repositioned furniture at the new location until we were satisfied with the layout. I would definitely hire them again.

We were very happy with the moving services that Rare Moving provided. They quoted me a great price and we ended up paying a little UNDER because they were done a little sooner than they predicted. The movers were professional and friendly. We would definitely use them again and recommend them highly.

Movers did a great job and I would definitely recommend them to others. We had a crew of three, they were very friendly and careful with all of our belongings throughout the entire day.

I could not have been happier with the moving experience. Everyone was professional. Prior to our move, the owner, Kamaul, came out and reviewed the amount of stuff we had to move. He then gave us an estimate. He returned once more after we had removed a number of items. We requested some moving blankets and they were delivered one month prior to the move date. On the move date, everything went without a hitch. People were friendly, even empathic. All the directions were clear. Our mover, T, and kamaul kept in excellent contact during the move itself. In CA, everything was executed perfectly. 99.8 % of our Items arrived perfectly, and there were a handful of trivial issues. Everything was taken care of. They did not leave until everything that could be placed where it belonged was placed. I have never heard a moving experience such as the one we had: beyond outstanding.

They did a great job and were courteous and careful. This company was also professional and got things done in a timely manner. They were really good. The price was twice as much as we thought it would be but other than that they were good.

The move went great - Kamaul and his team are true professionals! The logistics of the whole moving experience were stressful but in talking with Kamaul, he was so helpful in answering all my questions and was very reassuring throughout the process. Henry and his team arrived on time in Westport and put in 4 - 5 long hours moving items into the truck - keeping in mind that several items would have to be delivered to our house in the Bedford, MA area first before delivering the rest to their storage facility. They were finished loading the truck by 4pm and started the drive back to MA. Given the timing, it was going to be 8pm or later before they made it to our house, which was not convenient since it was right around bedtime for our kids. I called Kamaul to explain and to see if we could hold off on delivery until the next day. Kamaul was so accommodating by redirecting Henry to go directly to storage with the plan to come to our house the next day at a more convenient time. I highly recommend Kamaul and his team. They worked extremely hard and were professional all the way through. Since there are items being stored in their storage facility it will be easy to move them out from storage when the time comes. We look forward to working with Kamaul over the next several months!

These guys are MONSTER movers! I have never seen stronger, more efficient workers in this line of work. The arrival was on time, the crew were pleasant and accomodating, and they got right to work. We ran into a snag where not everything would fit on the truck and they resolved it quickly - ordering another truck to come and pick up our stuff at no charge for the second vehicle. They secured all of our items on the truck and then delivered on time 3 days later, unloading heavy machinery, huge boxes of books, and all household items with good cheer and exceptional coordination. These guys were absolutely awesome!!!

My daughter and husband used Rare Moving & Trucking Company last November and I was so impressed by their quick responsiveness, professionalism, punctuality, attention to detail, courtesy and the overall experience that I knew I'd use them for my own move. The team (Will, Royce, Jessie, and Jose) arrived on time and immediately walked through the house with me taking careful note of what was being moved, what still needed to be packed....and dug right in. Their professionalism and eagerness to please put me at great ease. I was embarrassed that I hadn't completely finished packing but they smiled and said it didn't matter-that they would take care of everything. When I say they took over I mean they carefully wrapped each piece of furniture and handled it with extreme care. They packed each room and labeled boxes for my ease in unpacking. When the truck was loaded they walked around the house, yard, and storage shed to ensure all was aboard. On arrival at my new house they went right at unpacking and placing furniture in the rooms I designated. They tweaked furniture placement....took great care not to damage doors, door frames, walls....nothing was broken/chipped at all! Unloading the truck went much quicker. I can't say enough for this wonderful, well-run, professional and courteous company. They are without a doubt the BEST!!!! I'll be moving my mother from her current house to mine and I will definitely be calling Rare Moving again!!!

Arrived on time and did a thorough and professional job on a difficult move

After spending all night worrying about the upcoming move, I was delighted when our RARE movers showed up 15 minutes early, in uniform, and proceeded to jog in near-silence as they emptied the contents of our home with total competence. The whole ordeal - 150 boxes, all our furniture included lots of lawn and porch items - was over by 2 p.m. and I had a big smile on my face when they'd finished. One leg broke off a crappy particle-board used dresser and the owner, Kamaul, responded immediately to my inquiry with a check as compensation. I ended up hiring them the next week to move two pieces of furniture we bought for the new place.

when i moved into the house, i remember the movers having difficulty getting the couch into the upstairs room, but RARE had it done in minutes! they were professional, and so nice! and very efficient. Because i had to pay the two hour minimum, and the whole job took less than an hour, they asked multiple times if there was anything else I needed done.

I know a lot of time has passed and it is late to post a review, but I was looking at moving companies recently and was very surprised to see that Rare still had such a high rating. I think our experience last June must have been an anomaly, as we hired them based on Angie's reviews, but we really did not have a good moving experience with them and I thought Angie's members should know about it. To their credit, the movers didn't break anything. So, that went well. But the lead crew member was very surly and aggravated the whole time, grumbling about how they needed more movers, etc., and that the job had been understaffed. For the whole day, he made it seem as if the understaffing was my fault! To the contrary, prior to our move date, we actually requested for them to send two trucks rather than the one they suggested, as we also thought they were under staffing the move. (In retrospect, it would have been great to have someone out to our house prior to the move for more accurate estimates.) The lead guy complained all day, actually - for example, he complained again when he saw that our new home had stairs (it's on a hill - what a crime!). The move took much longer than expected, and the lead crew member spent most of the afternoon on the phone looking for additional staff; he ended up bringing in someone who was finishing a move from DC to help out (!??!) at the last minute. Half of the movers didn't seem to know what they were doing (carrying a freezer on its back, etc, putting our safe down with the door faced down). I even ended up helping to unload the truck, as it was clear that it wasn't going to be done before midnight at the pace that this was going. In the end, the move cost way more than we expected or were quoted, and I had a terrible feeling about the whole thing.
